SOME HARD FACTS ABOUT THE WORKPLACE. 1. Your boss is not your friend. Regardless of how close you both are, learn to set PROFESSIONAL boundaries. 2. Walls have ears. Be careful who you confide in at work. A listening ear could also be a flippant mouth. 3. Your employer is now concerned about RESULTS. How you get the JOB done is up to you. No excuses. 4. There is always that one person/ group of persons feeding the boss with happenings in the office. Some employees brief go beyond the official ( except in work cultures where such act is expressly frowned upon). Be guided. 5. When you get withdrawn from PROJECTS or someone is asked to understudy you or you get demoted without cogent reason(s), that may be a cue you'd soon be shown the exit door. 6. As much as you can, keep your private life away from COLLEAGUES. You might be under INVESTIGATION for achieving some personal great feat without you even knowing. 7. Somebody your colleagues may not even like you, it could be the way you LOOK, DRESS, SPEAK, your capabilities, accomplishments at work, your aura or for some weird reasons and that is fine. Everybody cannot like you, so accept that. 8. Pay attention to body language, tone, pitch and pace of voice from your team members, colleagues or your boss. They may provide important cues to what isn't expressly said. Studies have shown that emotions, likes and dislikes are communicated via 38% para- verbal and 55% non verbal. Only 7% are communicated via verbal communication. 9. There will always be that " exceptional colleague" who gets the job done, gets the recognition and praises. Don't let that feeling of DISDAIN or inadequacy set in. See what that person is doing differently, how they do it and learn. You'll become a better person. Be open to LEARNING. 10. While the workplace should foster POSITIVE VALUABLE RELATIONSHIPS, your primary aim is to get the job done and go home. Don't forget that. EYA Oliver Uchenna®️ |
Profound A rat swallowed a diamond and the owner of the diamond contracted a man to kill the rat. When the rat hunter arrived to kill the rat there were more than a thousand rats bunched up and one sitting by itself away from the pack. He spotted and killed the one sitting by itself and to the owners surprise, it was the exact one that had swallowed the diamond. The amazed owner of the diamond asked: How did you know it was that rat? He responded: Very easy…. When idiots get rich they don’t mix with others! |

In life, you should either be able to drive and push yourself or have the wisdom of meekness to submit to the experience, wisdom, strength, leadership or mentoring of another who can push and drive you accordingly and appropriately. You have to be one of the two to be able to excel at things and grow. If you cannot push/drive yourself and cannot submit to those who also can, trust me, you have lost it. If you do not have discipline and drive at least cultivate humility. |

>>>The Yorubas were communicating before Oyinbos came... In Yoruba culture, AROKO is a non-verbal semiotic system of communication For Example, Sending a broom to someone means - you no longer want to see them in your house. PÁKÒ (chewing stick) When you receive a chewing stick from an opposite sex, hmmm... It means "I LOVE YOU" ỌSÀN (Orange) When you receive an orange from someone, maybe sent through somebody else, it means I am pleased with you. It could also mean I love you. ÌYARUN/ÒÒYÀ (comb) A comb is used ordinarily for combing hair, I.e for separation of tangled hair. This phenomenon is transfered in coded Yoruba Àrokò. Sending a comb to someone far away means separation or ending Of friendship or love affair. ẸNÍ (mat) The sending of a piece of mat raffia especially of ore type is an indication that someone is sick in the household of the receiver and such a person is very lean. Ọ̀JÁ/GBÀJÁ Receing some part of cloth used to tie Baby means the pregnant woman you left home hassuccessfully put to bed IGBÁ ÒFÌFO (An empty Calabash) When a king receives an empty Calabash, parrot egg or skull. It means the people are no longer pleased with him, he should commit suicide. OWÓ ẸYỌ (cowrie shells) Owó ẹyọ is an object widely used to indicate many things in different àrokò, depending on the packaging and their number. A cowrie shell with a string attached to it is a sign of bad thing or that unfavorable thing happened. Two cowries shells tied together facing each other sent to a party or another group means we are in agreement with you or your view, there is harmony. But when the two shells are tied backing each other, it means disagreement, it means discord. symbolizes rejection and unfavorable message. Traditionally, the Yoruba abhor the giving of things in three (3). Three in Yoruba numerology is confusing. Six cowries tied together in 3 pairs, it is an expresion of emotion. Ẹ̀fà (6) is symbolic in Yoruba numerology, it Means attraction. Ẹ̀fà ló ní kíẹ fà mí mọ́ra (It is six that says draw me closer). So this Àrokò means the sender is longing to see the receiver. Or simply put, it means I MISS YOU. ÌRÙKẸ̀RẸ̀ (flywhisk/horsetail) Sending of Irukere - flywhisk and cowrie shells from one monarch to Another is a request for agreement or solidarity or farewell. ÌBỌN/Ẹ̀TÙ (Gun or gunpowder) Gun or gunpowder is a communication means between states or towns to express a conflict or war. It tells the receiving town or village to prepare for an imminent war with the sender. IYỌ̀ (salt) Salt or honey is sent in opposite meaning to gunpowder. It means peace, harmony and solidarity between the two towns or parties. Sending both sword and salt to another party in an unresolved issue means the receiver should choose between war and peace. ENGLISH TRANSLATION Enhance your character, my friend, Prosperity could depart from one’s home, And beauty could retreat from people’s bodies. Today’s rich could become poor tomorrow, Opulence is like ocean’s surfs; it is like ocean’s waves, They come and go from one’s home as they please; But, only good character follows one to the grave, Money is not everything to anyone. Good character is the beauty of a mortal, What if you are wealthy without good character? Who would trust you with something serious? Even, if you are a gorgeous woman. If you are far from societal norms, Who would marry you as a wife? Or you are a fraudulent person, May be you are well educated; Who would transact business with you? Enhance your character, my friend, In the absence of character, education is a waste; The whole world appreciates a well-mannered person. Poetry by the late Chief J.F. Ọdúnjọ. Renowned Yorùbá Playwright, and Poet. Credit. Mayegun

Procter and gamble didn't leave cos of bad economy. The stupid decision they make in 2015 is what backfired. They lost the control of their company's products price when they accept Transmed as their key Distributor in Nigeria. The greedy Transmed increased the products and competitors took over the market from them. |

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THIS LADDER. Many of us were once Nobodies, unknown and uncelebrated. Along the way, God showed us mercy and we got mentors who showed us the ladder to success and also how to ascend. We stood on their shoulders and today we see further and are now known, celebrated and sought after. Many now have " VIPs " attached to their profile. I rejoice with you..... The bottom line , please do not become unreachable, self-centered, egocentric and delusional..., ' kindly respond to Mails, Text messages, phone calls etc when possible. Let us not look down on those who do not know how to climb "ordinary ladder" - mentor them. Nobody knows tomorrow. The "ordinary" person we show the way today can enthrone us as king tomorrow! If you have successfully climbed the ladder and have seen the other side of life, show others consideration. Their success is your success - A success without *impact* on the needy is failure" "Make someone *happy* today, if you're *privileged* ! ! Copied |
