2015 Election: Buhari Leads Jonathan In Poll Organized By Presidential Aide

On October 15, the day former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, declared his intention to run for president in the 2015 election, news website, Sahara Reporters, activated an opinion poll asking Nigerians to indicate who they would vote for if the election were to hold that day between Mr. Buhari (as candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC) and President Goodluck Jonathan ( as candidate of the Peoples Democratic, PDP).

The poll lasted for only 24 hours, and out of a total of 15,435 persons that voted, Mr. Buhari got 12,246 votes, representing 79 percent of the total votes cast, while President Jonathan got 3189 votes, representing 21 percent of the total votes.

However, ostensibly to counter the poll conducted by Sahara Reporters, Mr. Jonathan’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Reno Omokri, also set up a similar poll asking almost the same question posed by the news website.

His poll, which is still running in his blog, “Build Up Nigeria” posed the question “If the Nigerian Presidential election were held today, who would you vote for between President Goodluck Jonathan and General Muhammadu Buhari?”.

Mr. Omokri’s poll began a day after Mr. Buhari declared to run, but unlike the one ran by Sahara Reporters, which has since closed, the one by Build Up Nigeria is still running.

However, the result of the poll, as at 18:32 p.m. on Saturday, showed that Mr. Buhari was also leading by a wide margin.

While Mr. Buhari has 6,411 votes, representing 69.87 percent of the total tally, President Goodluck Jonathan has 2,455 votes, representing 26.75 percent of the votes cast.

Three hundred and ten persons, representing 3.38 percent of the total votes, were undecided.

Let do the same thing here on Nairaland to determine how the Election gonna be if there would be true and fair election come in 2015

Toyota vehicles have a problen with lights specially their models before 2000 camry n sienna inclusive

Check if your windscreen has been changed some cars have a windscreen that is just plain transparent this type admits light without reducing the intensity of the rays thereby causing temporary blindness mostly found on the CE model toyotas

Usually better ti go or car with a little tinted windscreen some r bluish greenish or brownish if light hits it it reduces the intensity something like looking at the sun with shades n looking with plain glass

Also check your headlights n wash them though that wont make much difference if u have plain glass lemme guess ur sienna doesnt have tinted window

I had a car like that n figured out what d problem was n changed the screen cuz I do a lot of night travelling if u r alone on the road ur lights very bright but once the is light in front of u even torch light ur blinded.

I use glasses and when I drive at night I usually get glares from on coming cars whose drivers usually install after market HID lamps as highbeams or constantly use highbeams in Abuja even if you flash them to dip their beams they won't (I don't blame them I blame the defective system for not mandating and enforcing drivers to go for 6months compulsory driving lessons and sit for exams).

Here are tips I'd love you to keep in mind when driving at night.

1. Ensure ALL your headlights, tail-lamps, side markers, turn signal lights and hazards are functional and are operating according to manufacturer's settings.

2. Anticipate your driving and other drivers habits hold your steering and gaze far where your lights fade away and notice the surrounding, from this you can pick your lane not too far into on-coming traffic and not too far to the shoulder of the road this would help you familiarize yourself in that road. But don't drive jack-rabbit style or go on high speed than necessary (if the speed limit is 100km/hr, you can do 80-95km/hr).

3. Don't look into headlighs of on-coming vehicles, and when you have a mad man behind you on full beam, don't gaze into your mirror unnecessarily unless it has auto-dim function enabled.

4. Dip your beam for uncoming drivers, if you notice they are straying into your lane or dangerously close to your lane flash them rapidly look at your right hand side and give way for them while notifying drivers behind you (use of turn signal matters here).

5. When in populated areas (high vehicular and pedestrian population), residential areas, institutional areas or very busy roads, dip your beams. You can use high beams in lonely roads when driving alone on that road with no on-coming vehicles. Especially when doing an interstate journey. But when a vehicle appears, dip your beams.

6. Ensure your headlamps, mirrors and glasses are clean and not smeared with grease, oil dirts and other substances. When dirts are on mirrors and glasses, it reflects lights which in turn causes glare.

I used to have similar problem, but now, i do not only drive at night, i also drive perfectly midnight lol. If you do not have any special eye defect this simple tip should help u. When you are driving at night and vehicles with bright headlamps are coming in the opposite direction, never attempt to gaze at their headlamps(as this might cause momentary blindness) but rather focus on your eyes on your lane. If it doesn't work, momentarily switch off yours and use theirs till they pass u by.
Thanks bro

some do...my husband used to have same problem...but with his glasses now - he can even look @ the sun without blinking :let alone light from other cars.

For me, I dim my light if there are enof street lights - sometimes I put it off totally.

Sincerely I use a lot of 'igbaju' @9t. These are roads that I have been using for years, so I know where every pothole/obstruction is...lol
-If it's a dualized road better for me.
-if it's a single lane - then you gats be careful, move @moderate speed. I actually use the headlamp of forthcoming cars to know their position.

With time you go dey enjoy am joor. I have always loved driving @9t. embarassed

I hope I can learn a thing or two from this thread.

My problem also is the light from cars on the opposite lane getting into my eyes. I wear glasses too.

You're probably short-sighted, drive slowly, stay behind somebody if you're not familiar with the road, if there are street lights, dim your own lights, too many lights will affect your vision. And if you can, avoid night driving.
Thank U sir,but someone advised not to dim my light so I can see very well .But I will consider it sa. I really appreciate ur contribution still need more

I need help here too. I drive based on assumptions at night. That is why I avoid staying out late or better yet, I use the cab.

If our streets were well lighted, it will go a long way helping road users at night.
