A sound coach who wouldn't have any problem working for free though team expenses will be taken care of by the NFF. With recent news and rumours, NFF dey share salary as well as having a stake in team selection. So if there is someone who can offer like 60% of his salary in exchange for total control of the callups. It sounds crazy but that's the only way I can think of. let's not even start with the NIN payment of allowance.

Well, Nigeria needs to have a coach like Maresca
He is decent, hardworking, young, tactically sound and ambitious.
There are coaches like this all over the place.
We will find if we look hard enough.

African football giant.
Well..I wouldn't dispute that. The big question is will NFF allow the coach to work?

Saka is a better talented player than Haaland. Haaland won it because City won the PL. It's a kind of divided award between him and Saka.
Bro... Haaland na monster o. The kind of goal this guy is scoring eh...maybe you didn't consider his age before making this post. Remove the City performance and the Dortmund performance would still show how the guy can be. He may not have been up to standard in his recent games and that's understandable. It happens when the creative fulcrum of a team (KDB for city and Ode for Arsenal) is missing.

I still don't know why a sane football fan would disagree with that Saka award. Well, make Dem go collect am from Saka's hand. I think Foden won the last one (not sure) despite not being good as Saka.

I'm not really surprised at Ode and Saliba's inclusion. Na Ramsdale own shock me pass. TBH, I was not expecting him to be considered ahead of the two Brazilians.

Before the coming Havertz, we have 3 players that can dominantly play the AM role (Odegaard, Viera and ESR)

True ESR has a re-occurring knee injury and he was advised to go for a surgery to fix the problem permanently, which he did. We all know what he can do when fit and we also know he would be fit for this season. And what did Arteta do? He bought Havertz another AM.

Now we have 4 players battling for 1 or 2 positions depending on the game plan. How will that help their game time?

If anything, Havertz coming has only limited the time that will be available for ESR.

BTW, ESR injury played little role to our inability to win the league last season. If there is a department we were short, definitely not an AM. And since recovery ESR has proved to us that he has not declined with his performance at the last youth tournament.

So far we are yet to be convinced we really needed Havertz, even the fragile Viera has given us something in the few mins he played compared to Havertz while we still have a fit ESR that have not seen a minute since the start of the season and only played for 3mins during the community shield. So you think the coming of Havertz is not / will not affect ESR gametime?
We needed a backup for Partey, we signed Rice. We needed to replace Xhaka, we signed Havertz. Also, there has been questions on this thread on whether ESR can play the 8 comfortably because defensively, he is lacking.

Even without Havertz, ESR won't start. The earlier he realizes he is down the pecking order, the better for him. Havertz vs ESR is a useless debate for me. I believe different players suit different formation.

Did we need Havertz?

Before we signed him, there were reports that Arteta needed someone who we give us the height advantage at the final third. Do you know Xhaka used to be the tallest among the front 5? Why Havertz and not a striker? Probably due to Nketiah and Jesus. I mean, watching Havertz against City, you can catch a glimpse of his hold-ups anytime we go long.

Has he justify his signing? No

Did we need a player of his profile? Yes

Is it too early to conclude? Yes IMO
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 3:16pm On Aug 29, 2023
I will like somebody to point out why Havertz is the reason we are selling ESR. Even if you bench Havertz, ESR still won't start.

I think ESR needs to calm down if truly he is getting angry due to lack of game time. Nelson, ESR, Tierney, Zinny and Partey(until recent at least) are players who are fond of getting injured unnecessarily. Just when you expect them to step up, you go hear say dem injured their fingers when using chopstick.

This same ESR was starting matches ahead of Martinelli when the latter was off form.
If ESR wan use strong head, they should sell him. He is not the only one not getting game time.

Reading that from him felt like Deja vu. I have seen it over and over cheesy

I genuinely wanted the guy to succeed. I thought he turned a corner when Tuchel took over and he scored against City in the UCL. I thought that was the catalyst he needed. I wanted him to build on that momentum. By the end of last season, I just had to admit (like mostob will eventually agree) that the guy does not just have it in him.

As for the bolded, so you're agreeing we're playing with Midfield of 4 as someone claimed in Barca thread shey?
It doesn't stop at deputies bro. There must be varieties in tactics. We can't be using different players to play same tactic over and over again and expect to compete. There should be improvisation and innovation. Football is now a game of chess, you need to keep your opponents guessing.

There's one thing I will not accept from Havertz critics, and that is that he is a bad player. You can say he doesn't fit in the team or tactics or that he lacks confidence but not that he is not a talented footballer. No way.

For me, the problem with Havertz is the over-trust Arteta has put on him that has placed him under immense pressure to perform. Havertz lack what is called the cutting edge confidence that makes a player change the dynamics of a game. We saw how Vieira came in and affected the game. We saw how Nelson came in against Bournemouth last season. We also have seen Trossard many times like against Man City. These players are not better than Havertz but they showed the kind of confidence and determination to change the game.

Havertz needed to have started from the bench. This would have given him the chance to impact the team first before being saddled with the responsibility of leading attack.
Against City, I saw a glimpse of what he can offer the team. That's why I said it on this thread that he needs time. However, one moment against Fulham where he made a useless backpass (you should remember), that was when I wash my hand comot. Be like the guy go need baptism and holy Communion because the thing dey look like village people stuff. grin grin grin

Jodera:
My main point is that in a football team, if you have a winning strategy and you want to experiment, Do that but never touch the SPINE/CORE of the team. Any other thing can be experimented, but never touch the spine, else it'll not be the same again

In this our system, The DM (Partey) is the core in this our 433 formation. It'll be very difficult for anyone in this team to do what he does. It also needs a good partner who can act both defensively and offensively and that's where Rice(just like Xhaka) comes in. Once these two are present, anybody or shuffling happening around them won't affect the team much.

Now you removed him from his main base and start playing him as FB inverted. We all know FB inverted is never and can never give you same result as Dm. Same way we can't say let Zinny play DM because he's playing Inverted role, we go too collect

There's also a reason why I wasn't perturbed when White benched Tomi last season or when Timber was to replace Zinny. As long as the base is set, everything around them can adjust but it'll be difficult if the base/core is tampered with. That's why this team is looking a whole lot different than last season even though it's the same 433 formation.

That's why any iterations that involves not touching Partey or Xhaka/Rice, I no deh too spark. If dem wan experiment, do that with Tomi, White, kiwi or anybody to play that Inverted role but please don't just touch our 2 spine and that's exactly what Arteta did.

The only reason I'm vexing for Gabe benching because las las, White would still be the one to Overlap while Partey would drop at CB (because Partey can't do overlapping runs). Like are you not seeing how this man is making everything complex?

Simple to buy a good RB inverted and all these iterations won't be necessary, instead he's just jumbling and mixing everything up.
Good. Now, what happens when the spines are not available? Have you ever consider the fact that his innovative approaches might be geared towards reducing our dependency on the said spines? BTW, Partey still plays in midfield.

Now is the time to enjoy the fruit of the process and he's restarting another process?

What guarantee is there that we won't start cooking another process if this new one is completed?
There has never been a completed process especially where rivalry exists. That said, you can still undergo the same process with different methodologies.
