resurgent2019: His command and control economic policies ensured that millions of bankers lost their jobs. I was surprised today when a friend told me his brother(a banker) had to emigrate to the US in search of greener pastures, leaving his young wife and baby in Nigeria.
Millions of families especially in the south of Nigeria have been destroyed due to the destructive policies of the regime and most don’t even have the luxury of emigrating anywhere so we see the family unit hugely strained and breaking up due to economic pressures. A lot of people are seething with anger and frustration at what is going on and you BMCs want another 4 years for Buhari? This is in addition to the divisive and disruptive posture of Buhari. He has overseen the cleansing of the Benue valley, with the concomitant humanitarian crisis that pursued large agrarian families from the farmland.
This are some of the reasons we are convinced that Buhari supporters are some of the most wicked and vilest Individuals these are on this earth to even contemplate that Nigerians should continue to bear this yoke for another 4 years. Don’t you have pity on your fellow men?
I am short for words to describe buhariguy and other BMCs on Nairaland. But banks are making a lot of profit now, some for the first time in more than a decade! Is that due to bad economy? |

madridsta007: Ah, I see. I would have assumed that a born again Christian should marry another born again Christian. And there is a laid-down process in becoming a born again Christian. It's in the Bible. Marriage is beyond the emotions of the present. That is why most celebrity marriages fail. It is 100% emotions-driven. They had great outlook towards life, hence they were "celebrated". Hence "celebrities". It should be, I believe, about a strict commonality in values- thus, "a born again Christian to another born again Christian". Same with a Muslim to a Muslim, a Sikh to a Sikh or a Jew to a Jew- I used these examples as these ones are pretty strict about these sort of serious, lifelong issues. In any case, I respect your view, even though I do not agree to it. All the best to the decision-maker. I hope it works out for him. Bro, you've clearly misunderstood me! When I talked about having a great outlook to life, I went further down in the next few lines to explain what I meant & none is based on emotions like you thought i meant (you could check it out again). Humility & love (& by love, I mean loving neighbour & not just your partner), for example, which I talked about under having a great outlook towards life are the most important virtues a born again Christian should have according to Jesus & not going to Church or praying the nowadays Christian style. If he has these virtues & finds these virtues in his partner amongst other characters he would love her to have, then I think they're good to go & won't be "unequally yoked." If they're liberal enough to allow themselves practise their individual religions & sort out the thing with both families & let them know they're both ready for the very difficult challenge ahead, they can carry go! They're actually worshipping the same God o, & not that she's worshipping Baal! Pastors, just like celebrities, divorce because they were unequally yoked with someone who didn't have the virtues of Christ even if they married people with the same method of worship! But another question would be, can one have the virtues of Christ without being a Christian? I think the answer is a yes which is the basis of my comment! The good Samaritan is an example! In all my long talk, I also respect your view which is like the view of most Christians! It's actually safer & less stressful to not marry her! |

madridsta007: lol. And I have asked you as a Christian, what your response would be to the poster, "can a born again Christian marry a Muslim lady". Mine is simple: "no". And I quoted a scripture, which you seem to have a problem with, despite the fact that you claim to be a Christian. I have asked you, what your response should be to the question is.
I'm not willing to go into an argument on verses and chapters and all that as I think it would be wrong to start that on a thread that simply asks a simple question and needed responses from born-again Christians. That would be derailing the thread. Scope is important in public discourse. I'm happy to do that in any other thread that calls for it. Just tag me. My response is that him marrying her should go beyond their methods of worship! Even among Christians, there are denominations who're "unbelievers" to some other denomination! For me, her outlook to life is more important! If they both don't & won't have a problem with either of them practising their individual methods of worship now & in the future, if they both believe in the virtues of Jesus Christ - humility & love which, in my opinion, makes them the believers the Bible is talking about, if they sort out what religion their future children will practise before getting married, and, finally, if they can strongly convince their families about their decision so that they can free them after marriage, then there's nothing stopping them from getting married, bro! |

madridsta007: No sir. That is oversimplification and a complete ignorance of the meanings of simple English. Being an unbeliever simply means, "does not believe in.." And it can be used in many things. I did not believe that Leicester City could win the EPL, even at the turn of February. I was an unbeliever, contrary to the many believing Leicester City fans.
It is that simple. But I just interpreted exactly the Bible verse you quoted! |
Christianity Etc › Re: Can A Born Again Christian Marry A Muslim Lady? by Moukandjo: 12:49pm On Jul 29, 2018 |
madridsta007: The Bible is unequivocal and blunt about this.
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
— 2 Cor 6:14
You need to each choose between listening to your emotions or listen to God’s word— which is very, very clear. This shouldn’t be a question at all, in my opinion, unless we want to pretend that the Bible isn’t clear about it. In other words, if Christianity = righteousness & light, then Islam = wickedness & darkness, right? |
