Op is confused. She penned down several reasons she doesn't deserve the acknowledge yet she went on longing for it.

Acknowledging you will amount to telling lies and I'm sure you are not dating a lier. Stay with the truth and work around it.

hydeka: I guess you're talking to Ikenna the original writer of this article, right? I only posted this here to create awareness about the plight of these people abroad. And 'merit'? Yes some people got it based on merit.
Sorry if you are not the original writer.
As for the 'merit' there is nothing like that bro. I used to think there is until I got close.
Education › Re: The Plight Of The Nigerian Overseas Federal Scholarship Students - Ikenna David by mployer(m):
Sorry op for your plight.
But we know you got the scholarship through one connection or the other and we didn't hear you complain about that. The government was definitely your friend at that Point in time despite her irresponsibility. Now I'm surprised on how you expect commitment from an irresponsible friend.

Pls spare me the 'merit' talk, we know how it happens.

dumodust: he is making sense and he itemised his points well while u set off on an emotional trip quoting the usual greed etc, an arguement devoid of objectivity.
wat he's saying is that an improvement in facilities (and yes, welfare too) was demanded for and is not even yet on ground but u want the nigerian doctors to return and sacrifice their lives for you without adequate protection as usual while u and your family will sit at home and castigate them as usual. Then u will call them fake docs when even the barest form of protection called hand gloves are not readily available in govt hospitals talk less of isolation equipment and the gear u see in the media. If u need dem so much, treat them well. Even councillors have special plate numbers, though I as a doc see the demand too as crap, if reasons are concrete, wats so special about an identifying plate number? Will it change the price of garri? It will even cause more problems for them because they will now be forced to respond to issues when passing by. And I'm sure u will be the first to point them out when that happens
the white docs that had protection got infected, wat do you think will happen if nigerian docs with no protective gear now start seeing ebola pts? They like all other nigerians have a right to live too, especially when you are not paid enough for it.
stop whining and do the right thing by directing your anger to the people who havent done wat they should do or else certainly like you really seem to promote or wish, we'll all die at home
I am not saying they should file out and go and fight Ebola without necessarily protection, nah. I only want them to show a little commitment by being available. As little as professional advice from them will go a long way.
Be available that's all we say.
You can then give your conditions for any level of involvement.

Health › Re: NMA Strike Suspended? by mployer(m): 6:22pm On Aug 07, 2014
ceaser: Smh. These foreign doctors are well taken care of by their respective governments. Nigerians are the bane of their own problems, really. Rather than shout on your leaders to act right and stop mismanaging the resources meant for all Nigerians on the few of them and their families, including medical tourism in India and the likes, you'd rather turn the barrel of your protest and insult cannons on the people you're in the same boat with.

Now look at this clear cut scenario:
The US in partnership with the Samaritan's purse sent in their physicians to Liberia to combat Ebola scourge. Not just the men were sent, but their families were equally sponsored down to Africa and made well comfortable. Every need was provided for - foods, clothings, security, and protective gears.
However in the line of duty, they got infected. But what happened? Their responsible leaders convinced that they'd be better cared for in their home country sent air ambulance to convey them back one after the other (note that they were not packed in like sardines) for adequate management. Guess what, the two docs are improving by the day.

Now come back to your backyard in Lagos, Nigeria. A doctor and a nurse working in one of the most standard private hospitals in the country got infected with same in the line of duty. The government could have done something with the immense wealth at it's disposal. Either taking that incident as a motivation to bring in Nigerian professors of virology and other brains, providing them with equipments and whatever is needed to set our own research in motion. Remember that we've recorded some breakthroughs in virology in the country thru the Human Institute of Virology at Jos, courtesy of major fundings from USAID, WHO and world bank. However, it was a hopeless case for those two infected health workers. One of them died yesterday. The other is still battling for her life. Remember that they both got infected at an international standard private hospital (usually patronised by our politicians for same reason as above) with presumably better facilities than is provided by your government in it's own hospitals.

So please with the above realities, which government will you be willing to work for?

And before you go on invoking "humanitarianism" and "hippocratic oath" in your defense and rejoinder, take time to ponder on why the US brought back her doctors from the humanitarian quest and why the Samaritans purse is equally considering withdrawing her workers. You can't send people to their death when you don't show that you care about them. Why has mutiny taken the seat next to our gallant soldiers being sent to fight off boko haram insurgents
what sense exactly are you making? That staying at home is all the doctors can offer? Stay at home and wait for ebola to come and wipe out you and your family because you have issues with the government? How is that different from suicide. A lot of us are educated but still with little brain.

I am not a fan of the government but this issue is beyong government palava. Ebola is not programmed to kill only government officials, everybody is a potential victim.

I know the government is not doing the best but doctors has something to contribute as our concerned brothers. They should start by being available first. I mean call off the strike.

They are not dealing with the government, they are failing us. We show them much respect in the society, treated them like kings on campus but this is the reward we get. Please take government out of this, the doctors have failed us.

In the previous news, they were demanding for special number plate so we can recognise them in an accident scene, of what use is that recognition to us when they are not ready to offer the least of help. It is all about feeding their over-bloated ego and demanding more cash

Its a shame and highest point of greed and ignorance.

Thank God ebola doesnt know who a doctor is. Lets watch.

PresidentT: As if ur respect matters. You will still carry ur sorry self to see these same doctors u castigate. What u lot don't understand is that the doctors too are paying heavy prices for this strike. And why call off the strike now only to resume it next month? I think they should use this to correct their incessant 3-day warning strikes. I'm privileged to work close to those in power and unless a strike is declared they don't think u're serious. From education, to judiciary, to power to oil and gas............
Some of the current agitations of this strike dated back as far as 2000 and some beyond. Yet government keep signing MoUs that means nothing.
I've stopped complaining but I know they are irresponsible for failing us when we needed them most. Ebola doesn't know who a doctor is. You and your doctor friends are still potential victims so long as the virus remains in Nigeria.

phantom: the health professionals that have died in Lagos fighting this Ebola scourge died in vain.
your country has no plan to tackle this problem.
your president is in the US snapping pictures while his country burns.
none of our leaders want to take responsibility for this sad situation.
as usual they want to make their doctors scape goats.
what is the miracle you expect from doctors in tackling Ebola??
all we will get in coming weeks are health professionals dropping dead like flies all on 5,000 naira hazard allowance.
your government is full of jokers.
Point of correction, the doctor didn't die in vain, she died a martyr, she died for her calling and we all know and respect that. So are the ones that died in Liberia.
I hate it when people bring up government in this issue, a death threat to you and your brothers and you are waiting on government before putting your talent to use.

I will keep saying it, this is the height of irresponsibility on the part of doctors.

pazienza: So you want the minority to be declared a winner, simply because the minority stance is in tandem with yours?

Typical African of you, this was why most African leaders easily become tyrants.

If the majority say Yes to strike, then let there be strike. While you go behind the scenes to lobby and reason with them why the strike should end. So that when next you call for a vote, the majority will say No to strike.
I hate to hear this majority and minority stuff in time of crisis like this, it is just childish.
Sounds like a man who refused to drive his sick wife to hospital because they had issue the previous night, insisting unless the issue is resolved they are going nowhere. How responsible does that sound?
Truth be told, the doctors are totally irresponsible.

So before you spill out the ignorance processed by your "un-enlightened" brains be sure to have @ least a minimal knowledge of what is happening.afterall doctors are human beings who have families and friends that love them.
Craw back to whatever hole you came from.
So why did they choose the profession if they are not ready to face the risks and challenges in it. This is what you hear from cowards who think a profession is all about a fat salary, ego and job security.

phantom: rising from the delegates meeting, dr obembe singlehandedly called of the strike in connivance with his NOC.
the required one week notice before calling a delegates meeting was violated as this meeting was called in under two days.
in the notice of meeting sent to delegates, the corrupt chairman obembe and his NOC refused to give the venue of the meeting and it was fixed for 8pm!

consequently dr obembe and his NOC have been impeached!!!
Lagos NMA chairman is now in charge.

aluta continua..........
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Aluta in fighting for your greed or combating the epidemic that is ravaging your brothers huh
I would rather be impeached than remain a chairman to idiots that are chasing the rat when their house is on fire.
I've lost respect for Nigerian doctors including you incase you are one of them.
