Deyvid123: Pls learn to think before you write. So you are saying if Biafra should secede any Ibo who decides to stay back as a Nigerian can or should be chased out or killed.SMH They don't have the rights they have now, they're now foreign citizens. The law of that land can treat them nicely or very harshly. The people that will be affected the most will be the Igbos themselves, check the ratio, how many tribes are in Igbo land? How many Igbos are in other people's land? The Answer is obvious. |

three: The crux of the matter is what is the extent of your allegiance to Bola Ahmed Tinubu?
1. Have you knowingly assisted in defending corrupt practices?
2. Can you allow fair prosecution of BAT if he is found guilty of corrupt enrichment or misappropriation of funds? (particularly if these acts took place while you were Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Lagos State) Tinubu can't be found guilty of corruption anymore - is he corrupt? Very much. But it was easier to nail him when he was governor, that was when he was hustling - but yet at that time, the strong man OBJ, who was is number one enemy couldn't do it. Now over the years, he had covered his tracks. He makes more money now than before but not from directly stealing but from building structures both politically and business, you can't accuse him of anything again. |

TV/Movies › Re: Still On The Wedding Party by mpowa(m): 9:29pm On May 17, 2017 |
bjhaid: their are more better movies than the wedding party, the movie wasn't really passing any message compared to the likes of "half of a yellow sun, "October 1st". The movie is a comedy for God's sake, why would you compare it with "half of a yellow sun" or "October 1st". The purpose of the movie is to show our cultural excesses at a typical Nigerian wedding and to make us laugh over them or learn few lessons, it's not meant to make you think too deep or learn history, I think it achieved its purpose. |
TV/Movies › Re: Still On The Wedding Party by mpowa(m): 2:23pm On May 17, 2017 |
Lyoncrescent: if wedding party is shown in cinemas in india, would it blow them away ? Music is a different case. Fela and KSA have been dishing out grooves to westerners for years and Fela toured the USA and europe extensively. It even took Fela Broadway to bring about interest in Fela. All our movie producers here couldnt seal the rights to Felas story and make a movie that would blow the world away . I understand your point but i still think it has to be both ways, our movies must have relevant stories. even if it is just one movie in a whole year that will put us on the global map and get academy awards nominations for best foreign movies, we will go far that way. Maybe it won't blow them away, but I think they'll enjoy watching it. My point is, we're not there yet, but few movies like 'the wedding party' is movement in the right direction. |
TV/Movies › Re: Still On The Wedding Party by mpowa(m): 1:52pm On May 17, 2017 |
Lyoncrescent: I think the wedding party 2 is being driven by greed. The wedding party 1 was a good movie and humorous thanks to sola sobowales role and ofcourse the yinka aiyefele music part. However, if i have to list the top 50 best nollywood movies of all time, wedding party wouldnt even come close. Its a good movie laced with humour and a breath of fresh air. Thats all there is to it.
Meanwhile, i often pity the mediocrity of nollywood. Our movies lack global themes. I remember the first time i watched 3 idiots, the indian movie i was blown away. Ive watched so many chinese movies and a lot of Nigerians watch Zee world and Telemundo . The million dollar question is why are indians in indians not blown away by our own movies ? Why are our movies not having global apeal to citizens of other countries while their own appeals to us and other gloabl countries. Nollywood hasnt arrived yet and as far as i know, we have to continue to manage with local champion content like okafors law and wedding party. The movie was very good and I would rate it very high. It's not just the story, but the Characters - everybody fits their roles, then the Production is topnotch, I rarely see a nollywood movie with such quality production, it's mostly our music videos that have that. Then talking about global themes, I would say charity begins at home, before you can go global, your people must be in love with your production. I rarely watch nollywood, but I do watch Kunle Afolayan's films and 'the wedding party'. Before Nigerian music began to gain African audience then global audience, Nigerians loved it first, they started playing 50% Nigerian, 50% American music at parties and at homes, now it's almost 100%.indians love their own movies. We already have the uniqueness of the African/Nigerian story which the world would like to see, what's left is quality of acts and productions, so they should just keep up the quality and move away from and 'seven films in a week' films. |

Mayflowa: Oh my God! In Economics there is something called utility. And people seek to maximize their utility(satisfaction). If he derived more utility in being with an older woman than your okpeke, he would of course drift toward the older woman.
It is you that see okpeke as enjoyment. For him to hv his eyes wide opened and go for the old lady, he knows the attraction you don't see. He had know this woman since he was 15! I definitely can't argue with this, he must find something attractive to be with her that long without issues. My own mind though can't bear it. I even have problem settling down with my mate, not to talk of an older person. She has to be younger and fresh, that's my love language, if she doesn't have enough wisdom that I need I will get it from other sources, I want a wife, not a counselor. |

Mayflowa: He is not complaining. If anything, he is a happy man and dreams big for France! I didn't say he was complaining, it's good for him if he's happy. But my point is, he doesn't need to marry the old woman for wisdom, he can make the woman, his mentor, his god-mother, his adopted mother, get valuable wisdom from her and still go ahead and marry a young beautiful Opeke, but goodluck to him. |

, this is a typical example of age is just a number. 1. This woman must have spur him to succeed with her experience... 2. These relationship serves as a lesson to everyone, marry someone who would encourage you and make you aim higher not someone who would make you stagnant, not someone who would make you remain at the same level. 3. Don't go for beauty, go for a beautiful smart mind. I will never celebrate this kind of love, I don't see the sense in it, It's weird, You don't need someone 26yrs older than you to encourage you as a wife, maybe a mentor or counselor, and beauty is part of Marital relationships, why won't I want to be attracted to my wife, but well, good luck to him. |

Ucheosefoh: Life is all about interest, your friend today maybe your enemy tomorrow and enemy today maybe your friend tomorrow, because of clash of interest. 2015 the Yoruba people were hailing the oba when he threatened to throws Igbo people into the lagoon. Most Yoruba nairaland members reminded us that he is a monarch and we should not insult or disrespect him. Two years later, the oba is at the receiving end of Yoruba people attacks after the ooni incidence and his recent claim of Lagos not belonging to the Yoruba people. Guess oba newest fans, the Igbo nairaland members and his enemies the same Yoruba nairaland members who defended him in 2015. The same thing with FKK That's not true. Maybe a few Yorubas did that, but most Yorubas did not support his treat on the Igbos.we even apologized to the Igbos on social media until some of them began to overdo, even Lagos government pecified the Igbos. I don't know why you people like twisting things a lot. |

Johnrake69: Good bless you for this thread. I have always maintained that there is a conspiracy between our religious leaders, traditional rulers and our politicians. And they all have something in common. Intellectual laziness. It's easier to collect tithe and offering than to set up factories and employ people.
It's shameful that as a nation we can't feed ourselves but who cares? Sunday morning churches are filled up and Africans are praying and shouting sweet Hallelujah forgetting that prayer is not in the success equation but in the revelation equation. Good roads, electricity, jobs etc only comes as a result of sound decision. But this kind of thinking don't make sense. What's Church's business with 'Intellectual Laziness' are they supposed to leave the spiritual mission they're giving now, to start intellectual development? If churches are spreading more than factories and industries, it's a challenge to you. It means they are EXCELLENT in what they're doing, if you're excelling in yours, maybe they won't but that factory, maybe that other place would have been an industry. Now that you're so concerned about 'intellect', even the areas they've ventured to help (Universities), Thou pricey but at least those who have the money gets high quality education, but you guys have condemned them to hell. Imagine they start venturing to other things - It will be an unstoppable flow of attack. IT simple, do something with your own life. Society has dynamics, if everyone is doing what they should do, there will be balance. If I become a pastor today. Every day will be LET'S GO A FISHING, because that's my mission, I'm called to spiritual things. I'm just being good at my job. |

How many Asians represent white people? name one prominent Asian representing Europe or America in anything? Asians go to Europe and America to acquire knowledge and opportunities and go back home. But black people never think about home. But at home they still get supports. Every Olympics our sport ministry's goal is to participate. No plans for the athletes, always fight on money, corruption. I wish he fought for naija , but truth be told, he might not have succeeded if he did. |
