The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, alongside his deputy, Philip Shuaibu have on Friday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that 14 house members, 18 local government chairmen and 196 councillors have joined Obaseki in defecting to the Opposition party.

It will be recalled that Obaseki was disqualified by his former party, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC from participating in the party’s Guber primaries coming up on June 22nd. Miffed by the development, Obaseki resigned membership of the party.

However, he had a series of meetings the leadership of the PDP earlier this week. He met with the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Sokoto, Aminu Tambuwal, the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Emmanuel Udom and the national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus to finalize on a deal.

No ideology or objectives but to satisfy their own selfish interest and that of their immediate families and friends! Political prostitutes! The hitherto known Oshiomole’s Crescent in Auchi is now called Bukola Saraki’s Boulevard. According to some political obversers, the change of name must have been orchestrated by the ongoing rift between Governor Godwin Obaseki and the suspended National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams O.

Changing the name of a street from one person's name to another will not change or solve the political or other problems in Edo state for now!

The Presidential Task Force and Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman,, Boss Mustapha has revealed the Federal Government intention to reopen schools, churches and mosques by June 1st, 2020 after the second phase of a 14-day lockdown and urged the general public to comply with the Government's directive on containing the spread of the virus.

The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has disclosed that the Federal Government is already making plans to reopen schools nationwide but it won’t happen in two weeks as being speculated in some quarters.
