you see , your problem is that you focus on the wrong issue.... it doesnt matter when/why/how people started doing drugs, what matter IS: what can we do to make sure that people dont die (or go insane) from drug taking? "your solution" is to tell people to stop taking drug, right? then why dont you tell your own close friends to stop and see how this works for you (before thinking that you could do that with strangers)?

again, doing drugs is not the problem, millions are smoking weed etc today and function properly in their own lives (aka are gainfully employed, have families and are successful in their own right)... the main issue is to do it in a safe manner. this is 2023, drugs are all part of our lives now... whichever is your drug of choice: smoking, alcohol, pills, social media, money, sex, weed etc

there is NO different between a drug user and an addict.... they are both drug users. the only different is that SOME LEARN HOW TO DO DRUG SAFELY (aka being addicts for decades), while others dont and die of overdose. thus why i said:"teaching people how to do drug in a safe manner is the solution"

remember, someone who wants to do drugs, will do it regardless of what anyone says... so expecting these people to abstain (instead of teaching them to do it safely), is a joke. the same way it is a joke to ask smokers/alcohol drinkers to stop.

this is the reason why so many children are abused....how can you bring a child of 11yrs old to your wife of 13 yrs, and tell her that the little bastard is now gonna live with you?! what type of madness is this? doesnt he have a mother? why not continue to hide the child? what about FIRST addressing the fact that you fathered a child with some strangers, while being married ?!

Hello Nairalanders, there is an issue at hand. I have two kids and recently gave birth to the third few months ago. It's been really difficult for me since I practically do most of the house chores... my husband is hardly around because of work. I came down with this strange disturbing headache that doesnt go away. So I went to see a doctor and she said the headache was as a result of postpartum stress and lack of sleep. The truth is I'm awake most of the time because of the baby or when I'm attending to other household matter. I haven't had a good sleep in a long while. So when the doctor suggested I get a house help so I can find time and sleep when shes holding the baby. I knew she she was on point. But the problem is my husband, he wouldn't hear of it, he doesn't want us to get any househelp...
I even pleaded with him and made him see reasons why I needed help, but he refused... I'm beginning to think I ended up with the wrong person because I dont understand why anyone would deliberately want to subject their wife to this kind of torture. My kids are age 5, 2 and 3 months... I go to the market, cook, clean, i even do school run too...He's a contractor and will be travelling back to work next week.. yet he doesn't want me to get help...

before answering, may i ask: what is the exact reason/excuse he gives you for saying no to a househelp?

You have a point but I disagree with your conclusion, if you teach people how to do drugs in a safe manner, you'll definitely not achieve any positive result. Remember it's highly addictive and react differently in each person

people will do drugs regardless of how many times you tell them not to, if this is what they have in mind. so lets teach these people HOW to do drugs safely (while giving them options) rather than criminalize them. many are sick people who are hooked and cant get out, and i'd rather to help them go through their nightmare in a safe manner than just tell them to quit (which doesnt work).

in Copenhagen they have a state building specially for junkies where they can go in and do drugs in a safe environment, almost like a hospital... where there are specialized people who can help in case of overdose, but also give them clean needles, alcohol to clean the area that they will inject etc etc, and they have small rooms for each junkies to go in and do their business (even have showers etc). thus much better than places like Kensington av in Philly or Skid row in LA where the whole area looks like a scene from a zombie movie.
