Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Lets Discus Payrolls In Nigeria. What Is Your Monthly Salary? by Mrceejay: 2:14pm On Feb 04, 2020
queenfav:
Wow..I don't doubt the salaries quoted here because as a lawyer duly called to bar,i was getting N10k salary at my first job.I quit law practice some years later to face my business
Today i can afford to pay my ssce/OND shop assistant more than that(20-25k) including other bonuses like 13th month salary when the year ends.

I tell people getting educated in Nigeria is just for the sake of having a degree and bragging rights of "I am a graduate".There are not enough good paying jobs to go round the large number of graduates being churned out yearly by our universities and polytechnics.

.
I will definitely ensure my daughter learns a skill or trade, in addition to going to school. It's those artisans and workmen we look down on that are making good money.A POP installer charged us N36000 as his workmanship fee for screeding and skirting done on our living room wall,2 door panels and our passage. While he was going our job,he had 2 other jobs at hand that he sent his boys to do, of which one was a big job of doing POP on the ceiling of a duplex.
.
Now calculate how much he makes in a month. This is someone from Togo who isn't even an ssce holder. He is married, living well and has kids that are all well cared for.
.
If a good paying job isn't forthcoming,It is wise to dump that your certificate for some time and hit the streets. Its far better than collecting 15k after graduating from a university.

Learn fashion design, welding, Painting, Electric fence installation, Hair dressing , Catering etc They are the big men in town o,forget suit and tie jobs for a while, many can only pay peanuts.

.
As you Hustle, you can still be applying for jobs that pay well.Maybe one day, luck may smile on you.
if what you have written here is true, it means we still have some sane Nigerians on this forum.. God bless you madam for this encouragement.

For the ones logging into the cloud server, the public IP of the Cloud server is 51.144.115.34. Enter the username and the password sent to your email (I already mentioned how to connect in the previous module).

Moving forward, One Important thing one need to always remember is that everything in Linux is considered to be a file. I mean everything. The reason why you hear every frequent Linux users always say, “In Linux, everything is a file”.

Linux file-system structure is hierarchical, all files are stored on the disk under one main directory, / (root). The directory has been further subdivided into directories like /usr, /var, /mnt, /boot etc. as shown in the image above.

These directories have been organized to store a specific type of file. You will get to understand better how these directories and structure work and all these will begin to make a lot of sense as you begin to use the Linux OS often. Everything we are going to be doing will be in these directories. These directories are the whole system. If you remember, during our installation, I mentioned that we should set our destination installation to “automatic partitioning”. If we had done manual, you may not have understood except you are familiar with Linux already. But in the real world, you won’t be doing automatic partitioning but manual. We will of course do manual installation in our next installation when we are certain we have understood the structure as we proceed.

These directories are explained below.

• /root: This is the root user’s home directory. Every file and directory starts from this directory

• /bin directory: This directory stores many utilities of Linux. They are executable files. These utilities are commands available under the Linux system. E.g. ls, cp, cat, etc. They are in binary format, hence named “bin”

• /dev: This directory stores all the device–related files for the system.

• /mnt: This directory can be used as a directory where users can temporarily mount file-systems.

• /etc: This directory contains the system-related data and configuration files required by programs are all stored here. The configuration file stored here affects all users. [E.g /etc/passwd]. However, configuration file can also be stored in user’s home directory.

To be continued..........
Tomi please kindly mail me the password to the cloud server. And my PC has a 2gb RAM, but the RHEL 8 specifies 4GB, can I still use RHEL 7. thanks

Career / How I Got A Job For An Unadvertised Position by Mrceejay: 1:40pm On Oct 30, 2019
Please pardon my grammatical and typo errors, I am sharing this to encourage job seekers on this forum, I served in Kogi State, Lokoja to be precise at Dangote cement Plc, Obajana Batch A 2018 and finished in March 2019.

I already planned to spend two months at home with my family before setting out to hustle immediately after my POP which I actually did. On completion of the two months rest, I planned my journey to the north with a business plan and some amount of money but unfortunately I couldn’t proceed with the journey for some reasons and I was already tired of staying at home so I travelled to Ogun State to say hi to a younger cousin who was already working there.

We went to church on my first Sunday with him and he was showing me this big organization and I was like whao…

On Monday I just tried to google search the organization, lo and behold the school has a website, checked their website and saw a 2018 job advert for a media person I just dropped my cv and wrote a short cover letter about being an embedded systems engineer and can do robotics and automation stuffs, and I received a mail which reads ”when can you come in?” I resumed in less than 2 weeks and I’m already 4months into the job , no exam, no serious interview except that I had to do a little exhibition of my skill and my co-workers were like who brought you here, how did you get this job and all.

The bottom line is I got a job for an unadvertised position in that organization majorly because of the skill I have. Yours is coming soon
