Following an online news report which accused him of corruption to the tune of N2bn, the judge held that if he ruled against or for Saraki, his decision would be interpreted differently. He therefore requested the Chief Judge of the court to reassign the case to another judge. That's Sahara Reporters. Investigative journalism at its peak. Thumbs up to them. |

Justice Abang has been on a stellar performance in all the cases so far. No wonder he was recently transferred from Lagos to Abuja! I hope other judges emulate him. They corrupt class are having it hot already. 2 Likes |

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday asked a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Rickey Tarfa to first defend the criminal charge against him before pursuing civil damages against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Justice Mohammed Idris upheld EFCC’s preliminary objection to Tarfa’s N2.5billion suit. He ordered a stay of proceedings until Tarfa’s trial at the Lagos State High Court is concluded. According to him, a substantial part of the reliefs Tarfa sought have a direct bearing on the charge against him. He said Tarfa’s vehicle and phones, which the SAN prayed the court to order their release, had been listed as exhibits in the criminal case. “Also, it is clear that the information and data retrieved from the mobile handsets are to be used as evidence in the criminal charge pending before the Lagos High Court,” the Judge said. Justice Idris said although Tarfa has the guaranteed right to be heard fairly and expeditiously, his fundamental rights suit does not supersede the criminal charge. “It should be noted that this right does not stand above the country, the state or the people,” the Judge said. Justice added that it would not be fair to the prosecution should Tarfa’s suit be decided in his favour before the criminal case is determined. www.thenationonlineng.net/court-orders-stay-proceedings-tarfas-suit/ 1 Like |

blueto: Integrity my foot! My brother, what sort of self-deception is this? It's unfortunate that many people are still yet to be delivered from the wool of fake humility and gentleness pulled over Nigerians' eyes in 2011. Jonathan's regime was a disaster. Second Niger Bridge - nil Power - nil Railway - nil Money meant for purchasing weapon he converted it to share to his party members and turned around to sentence innocent soldiers to death. Where was the fear of God in his heart... ? 2 Likes 1 Share |

All these probes and probings may never be really effective until Judges are mandated to conclude every corruption trial within stipulated time, say, 5 months. How come that after nearly 6 months since EFCC rebirthed some cases are still yet to begin properly and others are moving with snail speed? Set a deadline for conclusion of all graft cases and the war is nearly won. May God help the govt. 4 Likes 1 Share |

lolaxavier: This is how judges elongate trials for years. Even in the UK, a corruption case was concluded within 2 months, last year. What ever happened to day to day trial ![]() |

A saner SAN must have cautioned him to tow this honorable path. He was grievously complicating matters for himself. He could be the first dubious senior lawyer to go to jail. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Until we see federal high court judges languishing in jails on terms of 10 years and above, the Change may not really be taken seriously. They've been the clogs in the wheels of anti-corruption. 5 Likes |

The woman shot herself in the foot the very moment she ran to court preempting EFCC's move. Whatever happened to presumption of innocence till convicted? I think the era of "perpetual injunctions against arrest/trial is over". |

The trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal will go on after the Supreme Court in a unanimous decision read by Justice Samuel Walter Onnoghen dismissed his appeal against the decision of Appeal. The Court of Appeal had ruled that the CCT was right to try Saraki on 13 count charges of false assets declaration. All the six issues raised against the appeal court judgment by Saraki were resolved in favour of the prosecution. www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2016/02/05/supreme-court-dismisses-sarakis-suit-okays-cct-to-try-him/ |

You can see how this trial has been proceeding from day-to-day?! Had it been before, a judge will hear a case in January, adjourn till March, then August, then November and before you know the case is in its fourth year, with less than 30 court appearances - with no headway. Thank God for the new normal! |

The Budget Office has released the 2016 Budget on its website. The documents are broken down into different files for easy comprehension. The Presidency is budgeting only N104million naira for meals. http://www.budgetoffice.gov.ng/index.php/component/content/article?layout=edit&id=102 3 Likes

“...and all the leakages have been blocked, where then do you expect them to get money? For the politicians, many of them are afraid of even buying luxury cars.” God bless Mr President! This is a fact every right-thinking person can attest to. 48 Likes 7 Shares |

This Judge's bail conditions are the stringent of all that have been given so far. I don't think they can meet this bail. Had the Judge that is trying Dasuki's case towed this path, Dasuki would have had to produce 3 former presidents to stand as sureties for him. Your guess is as good as mine: near impossible. 7 Likes |

I really hope this turns out to be true. That budget sure needs a retouching to reflect the "Change" Nigerians expected of it. It will be a commendable sign of humility for the President to tow this line. Humility is not a weakness, it's a sign of strength. I've always had doubt about the man's claim to be a man of God, and this has confirmed it. God's standard never changes though men change like a flicker. 21 Likes 4 Shares |

There are some radical decisions that need to be taken sometimes that you'll have to bypass all these corrupt judges! FG lawyers argued vehemently why Dasuki shouldn't be granted bail, and the judge went ahead to do so - even in very liberal terms (for Dasuki that was a chicken change). This man's actions led to death of thousands of people for common sense's sake. So, his one life is now above those thousand people's ? The judges haven't seen anything yet, when it gets hotter for them, they'll sit up by force!!! Last year, a US judge sentenced someone to hundreds of years in jail. Now, that's justice! US have been holding many terror suspects in custody for years without trial till date. I support the action of the FG. Mind you, he may have been arrested for another crime differently!!! |

Bridges like this are a norm all over China. This is what development is! But Nigerian politicians would manage to build 1 kilometre of road and they'll not allow us to hear word, not to talk about the fact allocations for their wishy-washy projects are bloated. 1 Like |

Fani Kayode never sincerely meant well with this so-called open letter. I stopped reading it when I encountered where he termed BH as "Fulani herdsmen" (supposedly quoting GTI). He's indirectly insulting the President by bringing the President's ethnic group into the equation. Does he expect him to go past that paragraph even if we're initially interested in reading it? This man is quite crafty and deceptive! |

Toks2008: The post is somewhat a mixture of truth mixed with some errors. Sorry, I had to check your profile to see whether you seem to live true to what you're advocating and unfortunately, it's in the negative. Your sex-related posts speaks it all. The question is, do you just have this knowledge of the Scriptures or you practice it too? Pls don't see this as a condemnation, but rather as borne out of brotherly love. Have a nice evening. 1 Like |

I'm sure the person intended that tweet as a sarcastic remark because Bruce himself seem to have been condemning the government using very minor points. He once said Amaechi should start using public transport now that he's transportation minister. I wonder why he couldn't decode the sarcasm in that tweet. |

Toktee: Pls, are you sure you read my post at all? I guess you'll apologize to me if you did take your time to read what I wrote. You only managed to see the word "fake" and you began commenting out of order. All the same, regards. |

I am an APC fan, but for those of you rejoicing at this, I implore you to have a rethink. There's no reason to celebrate another's downfall even if the entity or fellow merited it. It's a warning to APC that same thing could happen to it if it doesn't do the right things that Nigerians expect of it. 1 Like |

Who doesn't know that BH are in their final days?! From having armored personal carriers and automatic weapons and showing a military parade of their armory, BH now uses hunter's guns. If you're in doubt, check out some Google images. Now, that's change! God bless Nigeria! |

Am a staunch APC supporter, but wish to tell Timipre that his desperation to win at all costs will backfire at him and consume him, if he's bent on unleashing death on hapless voters thru his thugs. Dickson shall win. Away to thuggish and "rascallish" behavior from our political scene. 2 Likes 1 Share |

bigneorapz: Guy, it's not a matter of him being generous, good-hearted, etc, the problem is that all those good gestures could just be coverups. As far as I know, AMORC is a religion of its own. It's not in any way associated with Jesus Christ, unless they just want to deceive themselves. It's a cult, and your guess is as good as mine: if you choose to join be ready for ritualistic blood sacrifices. I advise you to refuse it. Even if you've never been a serious Christian before now, this is an invitation to be one. Approach your uncle (he's not God) and gently tell him to allow you continue with where you are. Shikena. |
