I do see your line of argument, if you read the article and if I read correctly, IMO I think Lagos is the baseline. IMO, this isn't about the parent company or where it's located but companies who are willing to expand to cities and the results where the top five cities.

So no, we do not know why they chose these locations, it could more so be cheap labor, accessibility to raw materials, location to market or whatever. Nonetheless, these are just secondary components to add more further meaning to it but doesn't negate the fact(s) that decisions of business leaders doesn't stand.

but I also hope you understand a greater percentage of businesses moving to Ogun and Ibadan from Lagos for instance are doing it for proximity to cut the Lagos cost. Do you include this as factors of business confidence? that's why I said the project tittle and the body of work output do no match. The CEO's (even it could have been a negligible factor) could have given us concrete reasons

And don't be mistaken, its not about Lagos businesses, its about Nigerian business confidence index (see thread topic again) and since its so, they should have sampled every state to arrive at their findings. Most businesses invest in Ogun and Ibadan because of its proximity to Lagos and not necessarily as a result of business confidence in those places. FACT! Don't misquote me please

Again, talking about 98.5% of business executives trying to open shops outside Lagos, are YOU or THEY trying to say there are no businesses in PH trying to expand outside PH? or Onitsha, or Aba or Ogun etc, why only Lagos? Someone like me who thrives on data, because having data better helps us, I actually read through the whole thing, and for once, I'm pleased that some group has taken the initiative to aid BLS in their statistics.

Some points to note...

1. The stats was based on few item indicators - Hiring, expansion and growth etc

2. These cities being in the top 5 "WASN'T" cherry picked, but based on a survey model from companies who where likely to expand "OUTSIDE" Lagos. So if there was 50 companies regardless of their location, and their CEO's were asked, where will you like to expand further, "IF EVERYTHING REMAINED UNCHANGED" survey proved that these were the top five cities. Hence the "Confidence Index".

The stats doesn't put any state down, what the index is only proving is where the expansion confidence is at the moment. However, I also like to note that though we may not know the approach on his this was carried out (because that plays an integral part), however, businesses are more likely to expand into cities with potentials --- FACT.

The report also stated that it just a baseline and with time, they will use the time series model. So biko, nwanne because Anambra is not on the list doesn't mean that companies aren't expanding. It may surprise you to know that perhaps Innoson was part of the survey model who wishes to expand to Lagos or Ibadan or even Aba... Hope you get my drift.

But is this not exactly what the government is trying to prevent by making sure they coordinate their info and make sure the public is provided with factual info.

You can not succeed as an organization if you are not on the same page with clear understanding of facts in every government department and agency. The fact that I'm the commissioner for finance doesn't mean I know everything about the ministry of environment or what they are doing in LAMATA or what is going on in Town planning.

It's all about coordination and dissemination of facts for the benefit of all including the general public.

Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta, has highlighted the
reason the Catholic Church suspended its activities
in the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),
national body.
Speaking at a press conference to mark the 15th
anniversary of the diocese in Abeokuta yesterday,
Ajala declared that the Christian umbrella body was
too close to government.
He alleged that the Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor-led CAN
had derailed from the objectives of the body,
adding that the Catholic Bishops Conference was
not comfortable with the development, hence its
decision to pull out.
His words: “The Catholic Church took their stand
before the purchase or the aircraft was donated to
him. But what the Catholic Bishops Conference is
complaining about is about the way they are
running the national CAN now that is not meeting
the objectives and the goals of CAN and the
forefathers of CAN.
“CAN is now being run as part of the government
and we said no. Because they (government) will
dictate to us what to do and they will not take our
advice seriously. The Catholic Church decided to
withdraw from the activities of CAN at national
level; we are still part of the state. We made our
stand clear in November, last year, and by
December, the man bought a jet. I don’t know how
he got it but the president was there on that day
the jet was delivered to him.
“So, what we are saying is that our religious leaders
should be honest, upright and they should also be
the conscience of this nation. If you are bought, the
masses of this country are finished. If you can
use money to buy our religious leaders, then there
is no hope for the common man. That is the
Catholic Church’s stand. We are supposed to speak
for the people to correct the wrongs in the society
and assist every government to know the will of
God for them and we still stand by that.”
Ajala equally warned that the emergence of a
Northern president in the 2015 general election
may not be the ultimate solution to the Boko
Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
“You mentioned that if a Northern president is
elected that this will stop, I doubt it. It is very clear
now that it’s not the northern leaders that are
responsible. If an Emir could be attacked, the
Sultan also could be attacked. So, it’s not just a
northern leader leading us; that’s not the issue.
This group has its own objectives and we should be
united in fighting them. Northerners and
southerners should be united in fighting this evil.”
