helinues:Just my opinions. I pray Dapo Abiodun settles down quickly to move Ogun state forward. Education in Ogun state is currently a far cry from the expected. |
Recently, someone tried to compare H E Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun state with, H E Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo state, in the policies regarding Education. I think this is unnecessary. However for the purpose of the intellectual engagement, let's do so. If you look at the first picture below, you will see a circular showing how much students in schools in Ogun state should pay, N3700. Many will say, how much is that? The truth is that it is so much, if we still want to insist that education till the secondary school level should still be compulsory. So many Nigerians, and Ogun state indegenes and dwellers are poor. Another person said, is a case of unfulfilled promise, showing the Pact Gov Dapo Abiodun made with teachers. The pact is with "teachers" not primary and secondary school students. So, don't be disappointed. Secondly, there is no tuition included. Technically you can still call it "free education". The problem I have with this type of free education is that, it is no more compulsory to go to school. Thirdly, you cannot compare "omo Tinubu", with Seyi Makinde who is a known lover of the masses before assuming office. I have known Asiwaju's people to always believe that all people should pay heavily for education. Mr Fashola is a case study. That year when he was invited to speak at the popular Trenchard Hall. He said that we are paying so little for education, suggesting education should be an expensive commodity. The case of Dapo Abiodun is even manageable. Ask how much is being paid in state schools, The Technical University established by Abiola Ajimobi, OOU of Ogun state, UNIOSUN of Osun state, etc. If not for the protest of students of LASU, school fees there would have been on the high side. With all these, it will be good if Gov. Dapo Abiodun can work to reduce the number of poor people in the state, by 1. Providing Government sponsored financial or business training to Ogun dwellers. 2. Providing massive vocational training and empowerment with start up capital, like Patrick Okowa is doing. He can establish vocational training villages. This will be less money consuming like building overhead bridges. He should just focus on building the bridge between the poor and the rich. When he lifts more people out of poverty, then more people can afford to pay N37000, instead of N3700. 3. He should ensure that there is strict monitoring of schools in the state. This should be a weekly exercise of the inspectors. And they should submit the report to the governor's table, at least every month. Education should be well sponsored by the government, and Oyo state government is faring better in this regards. Ogun state's Dapo Abiodun, should copy the giant strides of Seyi Makinde. I must not close this without commending the empowerment scheme, the Ogun State Job Portal, recently launched. Both South West Governors should both cooperate to uplift the region. I will miss the past governor of Lagos State, Governor Ambode, he has imparted many lives, including mine. Back to Ogun state, "Ise ti ya o, Omo Ogun, Ise ya". https://www.ourhouseoftalk.com/2019/09/why-dapo-abiodun-should-learn-from-seyi.html

Following the gist wey don dey spread like wild fire that people wey wan write the 2020 UTME will need to enroll for the NIN. It's such a welcome development, as this will assist in curbing cases of impersonation and checkmate examination malpractice, as anyone caught doing examination malpractice, is already doing what I will call character suicide . The sin will just be following you everywhere, you'll need to do public confession to tell the world that you are now a changed or born again person. Back to my totori. To many of us, the kind way official bureaucracy dey slow things down at various NIMC offices accross the nation is really baffling When you register for identification at the NIN and it takes like forever for you to get enrolled. I started my enrollment at ILORIN. The first error, when I placed my thumb on the finger print scanner, it brought out someone else. I was wowed! So, two Nigerians can have the same finger print. To speak non scientifically now, could it be that he is my twin brother, probably he was stolen at the ward during my delivery? JUST KIDDING. The issue was somehow fixed, but I kept on visiting to check the status of my enrollment. I was a corp member then. So, one year ellapsed, and of course, I had to leave Kwara state. Arriving at Ogun state, the palava was the same. People will just sit for ages long, without any hope of being able to get the identity card. I have not even gotten my NIN not to talk of getting the National Identity Card, since 2017! Am I not a Nigerian? In order therefore not to put our children and youths into unnecessary stress and difficulty thereby preventing them from writing the 2020 UTME, JAMB should hastily offer to help. People like me can offer free service, FREE SERVICE, exactly, if they need more hands. I can do the work of three people put together. When I see how sluggish our people being paid with our taxes when we go to them for the services they get paid to do, they do as if they are doing us a favour. Since JAMB is very competent in keeping a database, let NIMC work hand in hand with them to make things easier for students. Also, you guys should buy quality fingerprint scanners. All these fake scanners that people will have to stay long trying to thumb print is frustrating. At least no be only you dey require the thumbprint that we find effortlessly done elsewhere. Many of us have phones with fingerprint scanners. Kilo was de ti tiyin fi le bi oju eja? Just before I wrap it up, all this common attitude of staff members of JAMB and NIMC shouting on applicants is very wrong. They are your customers, treat them with respect. JAMB and NIN should stop bullying their customers. It's not fair. In conclusion, both bodies should assist one another since NIN is now required to register for UTME 2020. Let me stop here. I am Stephen. www.ourhouseoftalk.com |

Why is Tinubu not on the list? He must be a very dutiful taxpayer. Hmm, Nigerian media are just too good in propaganda. Of the over 19000, na only Obj and co you see. Anyway pay your tax o. |
It's no news that before you can qualify as a dietitian you need to undergo a one year Dietetics Internship in an accredited teaching hospital or tertiary health facility in Nigeria. If you know about any internship application notice kindly submit the links or advert here. It will be helpful for someone sometime who comes across this page. If you are a Nutritionist in training or a graduate, you need to start applying immediately you graduate, to avoid waiting longer than you will expect. I am also thinking about creating a WhatsApp group. If interested my WhatsApp number is 08145006010. If you have an existing WhatsApp group, kindly make it known. I hope Nairaland moderators allow this anyway. Cheers. "The time will come when diseases will no longer be treated with drugs but with food." www.ourhouseoftalk.com |
Good afternoon friends. Today, I will expose you to an emerging field which marries the Engineering profession to the Medical profession. The beautiful thing about it is that the cutoff for it is relatively low. Yet has surprisingly great prospects. UTME subjects combination are USE OF ENGLISH, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and MATHEMATICS. One school in Nigeria that is among the spearheading institutions in Nigeria is UNILAG. If you are an engineering aspirant but with a flair for Medicine, why not try BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING. In short, it is engineering, but specialises in Medicine. You will never regret that you did. Read more about it in www.ourhouseoftalk.com

Again, more than the denomination you belong to, the most important thing is HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW GOD? Who is Jesus Christ to you? Are you born again? Have you repented from your sins and believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God? If you think repentance is works, Jesus preached it, as a requirement for salvation Jesus Christ is the Lord. Kudos to Deeper Life for a job well done in imparting lives for Christ. |
Bacteriologist:Well, you are not correct. Being numb to the pleasures of this life doesn't make you an hypocrite. It means you are conservative. Any crime in that? About what we chose to do or not to do is PURELY OUR OWN CONSECRATION. Every member of Deeper Life is being trained to be a pastor or a Pastor's wife. There are some behaviours expected of a deacon or leader. Is anything wrong with that? Every one has principles. If you don't, you will just allow any rubbish. Is anything wrong with that? Many times in my place of work, some people try to do some things. I decide to let them be. At least they can't do better. You will get to work by 8:15, you'll want to write 7:30, is that right? When you put the right time there, they say you are proving holier than thou. I always wonder when I said so. That's just our way of life. Let us be. We will let you be, if you don't want to become like us. It's not by force. We love you the way you are. The DL members you should be careful of are those that do contrary to what we teach and believe. Okay? |
kay4kay:I don't think so. I think it's you that thinks that they think so. |

I am just wondering who should be held responsible for rejecting IMMUNIZATION. It is frustrating after having trekked around town, under the sun and in the rain: after having informed the schools prior to coming. Only to get to the school and the head mistress saying, the owner of the school called that her students should not be immunized. Against POLIO? Hmm. If I were the Minister of education, I would criminalise the REJECTION of polio immunization. All parents who refuse to get their children immunized against childhood diseases should be arrested, denied access to public utilities. Seriously, we must MAKE NIGERIA POLIO FREE. |
Effulgent:Actually, I meant formal education, or more specifically, the Nigerian educational system. |
Poorboy:That has happened to few, very few people. Many out there are just struggling to survive, even after their masters degree. |
Seriously, it can be depressing when a student fails an exam he had so much attached his success in life to. Let me tell you the truth. Education, nowadays, especially in Nigeria, is not a means of becoming comfortable or wealthy in life. Many people of meaning today know this for a fact. Come to think of it. You battle with WAEC for 3 years, battle JAMB for another 4 years. You battle university education or polytechnic education for 5 years. You were 16 when you finished high school, remember? Add up all the years. You graduate at 27. You go for NYSC at 28, only to be advised there, during camp, to learn shoe making or bead making, photography or furniture making. After how many years! You looked for job at 29, and finally nearly got a job at 32. You were told during interview that the job is for people less than 25 as a graduate trainee, or people not more than 28, with 4 years experience. Gentlemen and ladies, this is the reality. Is it this scam that you want to die over? After looking endlessly for job, you were advised to start your masters. By this time, you have been teaching since your service year. You begin your masters, while teaching. You struggle with your second degree, and by 35, you were through. By this time, your parents and family have started mounting pressure on you to bring home your girl friend, so they can get you married. Finally, with your masters degree, you are now married. By 36, you are expecting your first kid. But, your salary just got increased to 28000 naira. This is the education that you want to die for? Kai! Don't do that. However, you can learn a trade, while studying and preparing for admission. Go into trading, marketing, be wise. Don't let your life depend on JAMB or the Sick Nigerian educational system. There is more to life than getting a tertiary education. Infact, with your score, you can still gain admission into some institutions. Even if you scored 140 or 135! Don't kill yourself, I beg. Even medical graduates, lawyers today, in Nigeria are now jobless. But, with a skill of your own, you will never get stranded. Please, don't kill yourself. Even if friends and family mock you, or your peers have gone way ahead of you. Don't kill yourself. I am Stephen. I love you with the love of Jesus Christ. You will succeed in life. Don't give up. Spiritual things are explained even from physical things. You yourself are a TRIPATITE being. You have Body, Soul and Spirit. These three exist and all together form the man. And so, we were created in God's own image. There are many arithmetics that doesn't add up like you may think. You can't use science to explain divine principles. If you don't believe the Trinity, you unbelief does not hinder the work and workings of God. |
