Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How To Act During Job Interview by Mrlouis: 12:35pm On May 31, 2017
youngflamez:
I have been opportune to interview
applicants seeking job at my company for
sometime now and I would like to share
some of the things I felt if they did right
would have earned them some space to
meet with the Managing director.
One thing you must first of all have in mind
is that if you do not leave a wow effect on
your interviewer, it will be difficult for them
to even call you back. You want to be
remembered after the interview right?.
These are some of the things the people I
have interviewed did but left me feeling like
they would be a wrong fit for the company:
1) Talking too much . When you talk too
much, your words lose value.
2) Contradicting yourself . You studied
Biology but you applied for a logistics role
so I asked why logistics and you said you
just love logistics and its what you want to
do.
I asked further where you see yourself in 3
years and you said you see yourself as a
renowned biologist. Isn't that confusing?.
3) Looking like a rockstar with Baloteli hair
style and several hand bands on your wrist.
4) Slouching on the chair. Sitting lazily and
in a drooping way.
5) Using buzz words that you don't even
know its meaning or at worst your
interviewer doesn't even know what it
means.
6) Looking disinterested. Have a sharp
countenance on.
7) Walk across the room with power . To do
this, make sure your strides are fast but
well taken.
As a result of the above, I will like to share
some successful interview conducts to help
you scale through your next interview.
1) Be confident . This means you act it even
if you are not it . Stand tall and let your pace
and stride be firm and fast as this makes
you appear confident.
2) Dress smart and stay sharp.
3) Always wear a subtle smile on your face .
This helps you to ease nervousness.
4) When you enter the room, close the door
behind you without looking back.
5) Do not sit until you are asked to do so .
6) Research on the organisation and know
as much as you can about your interviewer
if possible.
7) Ask smart questions if you are asked to.
cool Have a well comported body language
that conveys confidence, professionalism,
interest and passion.
9) Leave a closing remark.
These tips are things a lot of people do not
do at interviews trust me. They are simple
tips yes! but it goes a long way when you
act accordingly.
You might think everyone knows this but I
can tell you that out of the 10 people I
interviewed this past weeks, none of them
acted accordingly. http://www.hrtechnique.com/2016/09/how-to-act-during-job-interviews.html?m=1
Good, but next time try to articulate your write-up in a more appealing form and view.. If you arrange your CV this way, you know the rest

Education / Re: How Much Did You Spend On Your Final Year Project? by Mrlouis: 12:23pm On May 30, 2017
For my undergraduate project, Spent approximately 186,000 worked on organic/inorganic carbon and heavy metals...besides that my project covered three states in south east Nigeria, IMO, Enugu and Ebonyi with each study location having 10 sampling points (multistage random sampling)..
Had to send soil samples for heavy metal analysis to the university of Ibadan
Had to produce a complete outline map of the locations with sampling points inclusive..gosh hectic
One of my study locations ( total area used for sampling points) was 18 hectares.

Well then twas a master's grade project buh it eventually paid off , made an A and got my work published and reviewed in the US and Canada.
No pain no gain

Career / Re: My Twin Brother Just Got A Pay Rise In A Micro Finance Bank: Don't Give Up! by Mrlouis: 6:36pm On May 26, 2017
noblealuu:
My twin brother started working in a Micro-Finance Bank some time last year in September, 2016 after he had waited at home for over a year post NYSC jobless.

He miraculously got this said job when a friend/brother who is an Okada Rider in the village met him and encourage him to give him his CV as he was traveling to Owerri, Imo State from Ebonyi where my twin brother was residing with my parents. Mind you, this Okada Rider is not even a Secondary School graduate. So my brother obliged, attended interviews and while all hope was lost, I persuaded him to come down to Lagos where i'm based which he did so we could intensify our job hunting in Lag.

Few weeks after his arrival, he got an SMS from the Micro-Finance Bank to come for his employment letter and induction at a scheduled date. Although he had an inkling of the pay in this establishment, he reluctantly travelled back to the East to take up this offer. I felt bad because I knew I would miss him....Well considering a bird at hand being worth more than a thousand in the bush, I decided to resign to fate. Upon receiving the Appointment Letter, his pay was #48000, for a graduate of Political Science (BSc.)

He was posted to Enugu State soon after the Induction/Training to resume work. I was sad, considering the meagerly pay vis avis the recession bedeviling our country. Meanwhile, I informed him few weeks ago that by the time he clocks a year at the organization, he should honorably resign so he'll learn a vocation...was thinking about Welding/Plumbing being that we could put our heads together to legitimately migrate to a better country. After all we aren't married...so we better the lots of our unborn children.

Dear brothers and sisters of N'land, just a few minutes ago, he called me that he got his alert for May salary and the pay was raised to One Hundred and Seven Thousand Naira (#107,000).

In sum, never give up. Despise not the days of little beginning for you shall reap if you faint not. Perseverance is key and the root of the matter is found in you! God bless you.
Just pray that its not an aggregate of two months salary paid upfront.. In that case, there may be no salary next month

Education / Re: Adult Education: I Am Still Proud Of My Department Despite The Negative Comments by Mrlouis: 11:51am On May 22, 2017
Chizzyjoyce:
My Name Is Akahara Rejoice Chizoba. A student of UNN to be precise from the greatest department of Adult Education.

For those who are just getting to know that a Department like this does exist will be eager to know why "greatest" is attached to it when it's not even among the so-called professional courses like Medicine, Law, Engineering and others not mentioned. Feel free as I take you on the ride of giving you reasons why my department is not to be made fun of but to be awarded her greatness which she so deserves.

To those of us in this great department, our Department is not a scornful one and in fact I'm so proud of the department and hoping you are.

It was always cumbrous then for me to tell the sincere truth to anyone who cared to know what I was really studying in the University. I always feared response like, how is Adult Education gonna help you in Life?? Are you even an Adult to Start With? Why didn't you go for a better course and I can tell that these response which took the question form provoked me into going on a deep research to know how Adult Education is gonna help me in Life and why I'm actually studying it.

There's always this first meaning that almost everyone subscribes to when staged with the concept Adult Education - Education for the aged whereby they carry their lamps heading towards the village hall at night to learn how to recite the alphabet in their native language. What If I tell you Adult Education is weigh beyond this?? Will you think I'm trying to mask or bury a simple truth simply because I wanna respect or restore my dignity?

Just feel free to read on as I'm gonna make this informal concise work of mine very educative, informative and pervaded with morals as well.
Please permit me to give my own definition of what Adult Education is. To start with, I wanna break the concept to a comprehensive one thereby picking out the terms in it.

So who is an Adult??
I'm sure this word does not really lend itself to an easy definition maybe because of it diverse usage or complexity in nature but not to crack the Rock, there has to be some definitions for it still.
An adult is someone who accepts responsibility, makes independent decisions, and becomes financially independent. An adult can also be seen as an individual whose age and biological state requires an expected or a particular set of behaviour both to himself and to the society at large. There are other parameters used in explaining the word in divergent views like age, social status, reasoning capacity and so on.
What is Education?
Providing a proper definition of Education is complicated by the fact that there is not a clear consensus about what is important about being and becoming educated in life today.
According to Wikipedia, Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits.
Educational methods include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research.
I think I've done justice in defining the terms and lemme quickly run down to what Adult Education means.
Adult Education prepares people for life either for the now or the tomorrow yet unseen and it's not just concerned with helping people with life's situations but helping them become successful In things they do. With the help of Adult Education, an individual who is perceived as an adult will have his competency increased, he gains greater fulfillment in life and is aware of solving his problems. Sorry for not giving a conceptual definition of Adult Education just felt like going straight to the point.

This is really a hypothetical reasoning which places the department in a devalued situation.
Many people directly or indirectly attribute age to adulthood which brings bout the question "Are you even an Adult To Start with" when you tell them the Course you're studying. As small as you are, you're busy studying a Course meant for our grannies, was the exact comment my aunt gave me when I told her I newly got admitted into Adult Education. I don't know if I'll be countered to say that Adulthood is not solely based on age but an emotional maturity channelled to self- reasoning? Age is not particularly a good indicator of maturity although it’s something we need to add for practical living since it's relative to reasoning.

Adult are part and parcel of the development of any country, what happens when the Adults are not educated?? Does the country still develops??

More to come.....
Still buffering........

Trust me I'm not done with this wordings of mine

Just looking up for your recommendations or comments to continue.. Everyone's suggestion is highly recommended here

I'm a proud Educationist

I'm an Adult Facilitator

Long live the Department of Adult Education

Rejoice

But let me enlighten you.
So many people get into trouble, receive curses, never amount to nothing and never do well in life because they have a loose mouth and think they know how to talk, just for your future sake, caution your mouth so it won't put you in trouble someday. You may sometimes exchange banter with someone who may never forgive you. That's my advice to you.
You don't need to reply me cos I won't dignify you again with one.
