Within a week, it should be sorted. All Form A requests are being compiled and sent to CBN weekly from every bank (every tuesday). I paid 5,000 for the form, and 11,000 for proceedings (diamond bank). And I am being charged at 199 naira - 1 dollar.

If you are ready, I ll advise you to be fast since I just made this transaction today and the rate hasnt changed yet.

Going through Form A is the only route I know of making large payments outside the country. Other people can enlighten us here though.
Please what details will I need from my sch to process tuition payment.

Bet coys are legitimate companies. Most of them are registered with Lagos state lottery board, people who patronised them should understand their terms and conditions and underage kids should not be encouraged to involve in their activities.

What is funny is that after you have made money from them through ads placement, you now feel you should denounce them.

That's not a problem na. Shey you mean a dollar denominated card. So I still have to get dollar cash, and fund the card. Or do you mean something else?
Its not a problem, I was only saying its a better alternative since BTA seems not to be sure. Fund in naira card Na and use it abroad.

I don't know if they change such currency as naira here like that but you can always load your cards with money before coming.
BDC here in Intl airport I mean. Don't know how one can rely on them tho. Cos I dunno how certain it is that one will get their service on the day of travelling... Thanks.

Bro, this is critical info. Please take out time to seriously verify abeg.
If after been cleared at the airport, the BDC over there can change naira cash to dollars at a fair rate, pls let them be specific, at what rate do they mean is fair? 220? 230? 240? And not 280 and above.

Please help verify. I'm having a headache looking for dollars at a reasonable rate for my trip.

Sent you a PM.
The rates seems to be closely related with the banks.

What's all this pta all about?
Na travel allowance... the cash one holds, I think the best bet is to load one's visa/master debit cards. I also heard that after you 've been cleared at the airport, the BDC over there can help change naira cash to dollars in a fair exchange.

Same here. I don't understand why they would bar one-way ticket holders from accessing PTA. It's just unfair. One has to start making needless calculations from the top of their heads. I've been searching for cheap flight deals for over an hour and, on average, the cost of booking that extra return leg costs nothing less than 120k.
I truly understand where you're coming from. Going the one-way route, you spend 120k more or thereabout. However, if you should get the whole PTA quarter entitlement of $4000, that's basically like a savings of 4000 x (320-200) = 480k.

So in the long run, you save 480-120= 360k.

Pls let me contact you. PM.
Pls. are you saying, one can't get PTA/BTA without obtaining a return tickethuh Pls, I intend to fly by July ending too o, any good info on how to get cheap flights tickethuh

So I contacted my school for a switch of major from Computer science to MIS. The Director of International Student Affairs replied me that she has switched it for me... Just like that, lol... A new admission letter and updated i-20 will be mailed to me.

Thanks. Slimmy2005 and DeeTus

GEJ made Nigeria the country with the best economy in Africa.

You can insult him all you want but the fact remains that he was a selfless leader who gave up power so willingly to avoid blood shedding of the masses.

Good morning.
GEJ never gave up power, he lost the general elections. please spare us the hero song.

that's not a Masters program. It's for people taking pre-requisite to be considered for a masters program. So that is not a Masters Admission. I was specifically referring to masters admission
Yes. So after the prerequisites courses, maybe I will be able to put in for MIS

Ok... I think i would have an advantage, cos I was considered for Post baccalaureate. Many things will be clear when one eventually gets there.

Have you gotten visa yet?

Thanks DeeTus. My worry now is how possible is it to switch, cos I already have admission letter and i20 where computer science is already shown as my major. Do I need to wait till I get there, or is it something that can be done from here. Thanks

Pls, I need an advice. I am a computer sc major, I have flair for database, now that I am attending tsu this fall semester, is it wise to start my love for database administration by purusing Msc Management Information Systems, i seem it is more primarily focused on business decisions using information systems unlike computer sc that play with networks, database, programming...

My admission is computer sc. which is college of science, while MIS is at school of business.
Pls guys, is it wise to switch dept and how can I go about it.

This is frustrating! I can't believe a member of this thread can reel out those answers. We are spoon feeding members here and making them lazy.

We answer them real time and just help in dissuading them from research. The VOs are beginning to see through them.

We should encourage them to read a full part of USA travelling before running down here for questions. With the tons of transcripts here, no one shud mess up interview session as he did! Am sad
You are right. He messed up. I hope he will be able to learn from his errors.

Please can anyone throw some light on immunization? Are immunizations done in the US or they have to be done here in Nigeria before departure
As a student, you will need medical insurance, do your medical insurance over there in the states and do the necessary immunizations required by your school with your medical insurance.

Better luck next time. Please read plenty transcripts on previous pages and threads.

For my school, you pay for the insurance along with your Tuition. You can't get alternative insurance, you only buy the one made available by the school.
I don't know how your own school do theirs.
Ok... Thanks so much.

Were you required to take it in Nigeria or upon arrival. Even child born usually get first MMR. Just take the form you're given to any doctor to help you sign. I don't see the essence of taking MMR at this age.
Nope. Not necessarily I take it here in Nigeria. I will do it the way dannybrown did his own.

I didn't take the MMR in Naija, reason based on I didn't get a hospital where I can take it, but I took it here and it was billed to my health insurance company,
So since you are paying for insurance, it's better you take it when you get here.
Its mandatory for my school before you register for classes, i Don't know about your school
Thanks. It is also mandatory I have it before classes. Pls how did you go about the medical insurance.

It largely depends on your school and it will be stated in your admission letter/package.
My admission letter mentioned that "... All first time student will be required to have the meningitis vaccination or an approved exemption prior to attending the class". Pls guide me through. Thanks

If you're in Lagos, you can try LUTH. There's this lady- Aunty Shalewa in the community health unit. She's there from around 10am daily.

She'll sort you out with the injections, hook you up with a doctor to attest to your forms and let you know when to go to Ports health clinic to get your Yellow Fever card (the entire process might take between 2 - 3 weeks).

Depending on the specific immunizations, your total cost might fall within the N20k - N35k range.
Is the immunisation thingy mandatory for everyonehuh

How should I start self? Well, GA is not automatic lipsrsealed . I am a CCNP and I really doubt they used that as a yardstick (in my case). However, I know three things can get you assistantship; 1) Your profile (GRE, GPA, SOP, etc.) 2) Your experience (if you have some industrial experience or you have published a paper) and 3) Availability of funding.
Of all, the third seems to be the most difficult to predict. My school used to have a lot of funding for MS in CS (but not anymore). However, I am almost certain you will get full funding if you come for MS in maths, physics or chemistry (My friends with way lower profile than myself got full funding before coming over). So if I told you that there is no funding in my school, you will automatically assume there is no funding in all departments. Funding is in cycle!

Solution:

1) The best thing you can do is to do a lot of background research about some schools. Sincerely with your profile, you should choose some good low ranked schools to boost your chances.

2) Send an email to all the professors in the dept (I can send a good template that I have been using to you - you may need to review some of their research papers tho).

3) Pray to God!

Good luck! smiley
Baba, Na that template gangan I need. Kindly help. Thanks
