CrimeRe: Tajudeen Disu Killed In Land Fracas In Lagos by MrMcJay(m):
Laredojohn:
The Managing Director of the Lekki Free Zone Ltd, Mr. Tajudeen Disu is among persons killed as Ibeju-Lekki villagers and mobile police officers clashed in Okunraiye community near Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, this morning. Tajuden Disu

The villagers said they were on a peaceful protest against "forceful takeover" of their land by the Lagos state government on behalf of Africa’s richest industrialist, Aliko Dangote and the Lekki Free Zone Ltd when policemen attacked them reportedly killing two of the protesters instantly.

The villagers said the killing resulted in a crisis.

A local chief in the area told Saharareporters that the Lekki Free Zone Ltd called in anti-riot policemen of "Mopol 49" to kill the protesters because they had insisted too long ago against forceful acquisition
of the community land by the Lekki Free Zone Ltd for the construction of a large petrochemical refinery owned by Mr. Dangote. The chief said the Mopol were led and supervised to the protest scene by Managing Director of the Lekki Free Zone Ltd, Mr. Disu.

But Mr. Disu was also among those downed as the police officers guarding him and protesters clashed, according to the local chief. One of the police officers was also feared dead. The community has been taken over by soldiers reinforced to the community as the crisis escalated.
When Government acquires land for public use, the owners are entitled to adequate compensation (emphasis on adequate). Over time, what the Lagos State Government does is that it acquires large parcels of land (e.g 500 Hectares) for public uses. Now, when the villagers apply for excision of their land, they get a little portion of it back (e.g 80 Hectares). Apart from this released portion, there is no financial compensation to these families for the 420 Hectares of land taken from the family. The Government relies on the Land Use Act to perpetrate this fraud.

A little portion of the 420 Hectares (e.g 100 Hectares) is then used for government purposes while the remaining 320 Hectares is then shared by the powers that be in the form of GRAs, Estates and other land holdings. This has been done since the time of Raji Rasaki up to Fashola.

I think the Government needs to carry the indigenous land owners in projects like this. There should be adequate compensation paid and effective dispute resolution techniques applied.

1. OP, write an email containing a strongly-worded petition of Fraud by the chap in the US and attach the pieces of evidence you have (softcopies).

2. Address your petition to the American Embassy in Nigeria. Also, copy INTERPOL Nigeria. Don't sent the mail yet.

3. Send a copy of the Fraud Petition to the guy in US and tell him you'll be expecting to hear from his lawyers soonest. Send it to his sister also.

4. Go to bed and let the magic of your mail take effect. You'll be surprised at the outcome. Everything is not for the court. This one is more deadly.

**Whatever you do, pls don't send that petition to the US embassy or Interpol. If you do, he'll be deported ASAP and he won't ever forgive you.**

The only way he can be helped is to get him a job. If he has a proper job, he won't be trekking at 9am on Monday morning like a vagabond.

Why trekking to Ghana? Maybe he is involved in importation business or he wants to buy Ghana bread for the IDPs. If he is really trekking for the IDPs, why doesn't he trek from Lagos to Sambisa?

Let me just add something about omo onile. I know someone building a property who's paid up a few times and now confronted with another payment for the roofing stage. What can be done if possible...

I'll look into the locations listed and so.
Paying Omonile boys is unavoidable but can be minimized if handled with wisdom and tact as it takes a lot of experience to handle them.

Also, there are various factors which influence the payment made to the Omonile boys such as: the location of the land, the families there, the sort of relationship the owner of the land has cultivated with the Omonile boys.

However, you can work on their greed by offering them contracts for supply of building materials in exchange for reduced Omonile fees and security of your land.

Read the topic below, it's very important. The author is an authority in matters like this.

Badagry is great if that's where you want

The residential area is

Agbara
At an
Okun afan

These are residential areas
Atan and Oko Afo can't be described as Upscale by modern standards. Besides, Atan and Agbara fall under Ado-Odo/Ota LGA in Ogun State while the poster specified Lagos.

Except he intends to live and work in those areas, I'll honestly advise that he looks for somewhere in Lagos mainland or close areas as even Badagry is very far from Lagos.

Thanks very much. Best response so far.
It's more residential.

Also what do you think about Badagry if I may ask?
If you intend to work in and intend to commute from Lagos while living in Badagry? No!

If you want to build a house in a quiet environment with natural sea breeze? Yes!

If you want to acquire a lagoon-front land and build on minimum budget? Yes!

State your budget and the kind of environment you desire and I may be able to assist.

Hi
Quick question.
Looking for the best possible place to buy land in Lagos. Upscale, (but not keen on the Lekki/VI movement) Or if anywhere else possible to buy from. Sorry if wrong thread.
It depends on if you are buying for residential ot commercial purposes. You may try any of the following areas:

1. Ikoyi
2. Ikeja GRA
3. Magodo GRA
4. Apapa GRA
5. Ogudu GRA

Hopefully the OP will disregard your archaic suggestion to engage in gender discrimination.

Where we are its a crime and its anti progressive.

All students regardless of gender deserves a good and safe living arrangement.
Say what you will, but you can't dispute the issues I raised. The building belongs to the OP, and it is his perogative to decide who stays where on his property.

I'm not discriminating based on gender, I'm quite knowledgeable on issues like this and I'm speaking from experience.

If you doubt me, go and compare the male and female hostels of any university in Nigeria to see the difference in maintenance culture of the occupants.

FYI, it's not a crime for me to decide that my students hostel is a Ladies hostel. Don't talk about what you don't know.
PropertiesRe: House Scam by MrMcJay(m): 12:34am On Oct 06, 2015
This is a criminal case, and only the police can prosecute it. There is very little a lawyer can do.

Instead, get cops from Federal SARS at Adeniji-Adele or Lagos State SARS to pick the landlord, the developer, the agent, and everyone connected to the building. When they spend a month there, they would understand what 'change' means.

OP, when letting out your property to students, you should give preference to females. They pay higher for student apartments and care more or their for their surroundings.

Besides, they don't crowd their rooms with live-in friends.

RomanceRe: You Can Have Male Friends Without Sleeping With Them! by MrMcJay(m): 4:20pm On Oct 05, 2015
OP, this is an exception and not the norm.

The basic instinct of man is self preservation and the second to this is sexual instinct. To say that your need for company overshadows your sexual instinct is a lie (according to Mother Nature).

If you think you can control yourself, good for you. I just hope your friends can control themselves too.
