SHIA HAS RIGHTS Shia has been existing for many years, and to my understanding, I have never seen Shia members constitute threat to peaceful living. All they are known for is group solidarity. They are often very protective of themselves because they are a minority in Islam, and sometimes, they employ the use of strong words to describe what they disagree with. But do they constitute threat to National security? Definitely not. To a large extent, they are a peaceful people, with strong ideology and no fear whatsoever. I mean, very courageous and fearless group of people with strong dedication to their ideal. The only crime you can accuse Shia members of is holding a different ideology and having unbreakable loyalty to their leaders, if that is a crime. Anything outside this, is not a truthful description of Shia and it's movement . The only major offense of Shia, is the same offense all religious organizations do commit, which is the obstruction of roads during their religious activities, but is this enough reason to kill and destroy their places of worship with outright impunity? Is this enough reason to dehumanize them and commit all know crimes against humanity against them? Is this enough reason to strip them off basic human rights such as rights to free speech, movement and association? The answer is a resounding no. It is important to note that, we all saw the outcome of the commission of inquiry set up by the government which indicted the military in the Zaria massacre of Shia, but rather than redress government's culpability in that unfortunate incident, what we saw, or are seeing, is the use of force against defenseless citizens with outright disregard for law and order. Let it be known that, Nigerian government has failed it's citizens who are members of Shia, Shia members have been wronged, and no matter what those in government today do or say, they can never take away Shia's rights to justice. Shia has rights, not one bestowed on them by those in government, but one which they posses as people. I am confident that in the nearest future, all those who perpetrate these grave violations shall not go unpunished. |
WHEN DARKNESS THOUGHT IT IS IN CHARGE by Abdulrazaq O Hamzat. When darkness of the night, takes over from the light of the day, the day is always worried. Like a Hen that newly hatched its eggs, all that occupies heart of the day, is how to protect the vulnerable creatures consumed by the darkness of the night. When most living creatures hide their fear of terror associated with night, under the guise of sleeping and resting, the day understands their worries. This explains why the day always work harder than others, to implant bright stars up in the sky, to give people hope, when they thought all is over. And when darkness thought it is in charge in the night, fully expressing itself through spreading of the dark cloud, the stars starts to twinkle and moon smiling. Within the couple of hours, day eventually takes over from night and light over darkness. It's always victory for the day. All living creatures that had gone to sleep at night, suddenly wakes up when the day takes over, their fear of night terror gone with its darkness. Like the day, i know how worried many of you are about the dark cloud spreading in our country, particularly as it relates to business growth and sustainability. Just like the terror of the night, scaring even the most powerful living creatures , businesses are suffering, business owners are worried and everyone is complaining. But like the real Nigerian that we are, I know how hard you are working to prevent darkness from enjoying monopoly of the night, that’s what the day often do until it chases the night away to restore light. Let me reassure you fellow country people, you are the day, which never fails to restore light, you are the moon, which light up the night, even in the midst of thick darkness, you are the stars that continue to shine and twinkle. Like the day that you are, dark night shall not last long before the light of the day is lighted. |

Judges within the wave of sword of justice ...By Abdulsalam Abdulfatah Liberty Some judges were watched, hunted and busted by the men of DSS, what a strange drama? I do not remember the last time such wave blew... A perspective condemns the unannounced busting and arrest some judges and justice by the officers of DSS while the altanative perspective do not see anything wrong in the unannounced and unfriendly visit of the alleged corrupt Judges and justices. I hold a strong stand and I prefer to push forward my ratio decidendi before my perspective. If I will fold my harms in the face of corruption, may the day never come, when my leaps will be keyed in the face of corruption and injustice. I wish to clarify that I am not here to argue the legality or illegality of the arrest. Here, my conscience has only vibrate louder... The beat of my heart here you hear is a privilege and may vary from yours. I do think, act, and react as a human rights activist and lawyer yet I always meet a "right red line" My mind always tells me to retard every time some one is alleged for a criminal offenceo. That does not means he has lost his fundamental rights but a serious issue is at stake. Also, the constitutional roles of the Police is superior and as important as the fundamental right. Is it true that like other spheres, many judges and justices are highly corrupt ? Could it be true that justice is for sale in some of the Nigeria courts ? Could it be true that the only the last hope of a common man betrays a common man because of money? If it is true as it is notorious to people who are privy to the judicial circumference that people we refer to as noble men, the representative of God on Earth could disappoint humanity to the extend of selling justice... We are in zoo ! Is it true that NJC which is the body saddle with the responsibility of investigating judges and justice in most of times only recommend retirement for justices and judges confirmed to be corrupt? In reality, a judge and justices whose the allegation of corruption and miscarriage of justice is proofed beyond reasonable doubt deserve beyond the compulsory retirement... We have an imbalance social situation which a level of authority is trying to make it balance by force. A man in other sphere when the allegation of corruption is proofed against them, they are punished and treated as criminal while a judge or justice caught red handed by NJC will only be punished by compulsory retirement. Am sure the NJC and NBA will know in their deep conscience that retirement is not enough as punishment. Is it true that 93 million naira and some foreign currencies were found in the house of the judges arrested ? Yet none of the bodies that reacted with sentiment talk about that. Like my boss has opined, How can you ever detect such heinous corruption without unexpected "operation bust " ? The fact that you are suspected of committing a crime got the suspects fundamental right diluted... the right, It ever exist but it is diluted... Because, investigation is not bared by fundamental right but it is guided by it. Our nation may violate fundamental rights for the sake of national interest and will do so reluctantly and ready to pay damages and tender apology to the victim. Meanwhile, I am not one of those who raise the flag of human right as a defence in favour of crime... Let alone such crime that only God can unveil. The corrupt among judges and justices has thus been signaled that crime, criminals and corruption is not noble and it detaches the rank of nobility from the nobles. Why do Nigeria react like a group of people who has chosen corruption and injustice... Hear them, their thinking and defence is louder, but they refused to consider the evil of the manner in which corruption dominates judicial system. If our kind of human rights will catalyse corruption, it is high time we reconsider the genuineness of our doctrine of rights. Judges and justices are not God and within the wave of sword of justice they are. |
I read it,but didn't understand how that is connected with the subject |

US is not a civilized Country by Abdulrazaq O Hamzat Some people have often referred to the United States of America as an example of a civilized country, but I usually disagree to a great extent. When anything happens in Nigeria for example, some people are usually quick to refer to US as an example of where things are done differently, and rightly too. But when one carefully observe events in that country, nothing justify such assertion. The US, based on verifiable evidences is not that civilized country some people wants us to believe it is. To put the issue in a right perspective, I tell them, if you want to know a civilized country, look out for 3 things. 1. How do they play their politics? Decent or dirty? Issues or personality? 2. How does the country's government handle criminal/indecent behaviors by powerful people? Diligently hold them accountable or tactically shield them from prosecution? 3. And finally, how does the authorities respond to systematic impunity and violations of citizens right by Government institutions? You will agree with me that, in the above listed conditions, the United States of America failed woefully In all and therefore doesn't deserve to be regarded as a civilized country. For the past one year, I have carefully and deliberately followed events in USA to understand how things operate and to my greatest surprise, many things happening in Nigeria that we, the citizens condemn so strongly, is almost similar to what is happening over there. But that is not the main issue, things can happen. What I tried to observe is government responses when things happen. Like Nigeria, their are sacred cows, the untouchables who get away with anything, no matter how criminal and grave. Rather than prosecute the culprits, they are shielded by Government. Accuse them as much as you like, write as much petition or supply as much evidences, they are never going to face any consequences for their wrong actions. They are parts of the establishment and therefore cannot be punished. What about the US politics? Election fraud, right from the primaries. Dirty politics, circled around personalities, not issues. While it is true, that we have some excellent personalities in US, we can't ignore the fact that, US, like Nigeria, plays a dirty politics. Evidences available indicate that, acting dirty is the order, while decency is an exception. In view of this, I still hold the view that, US is far away from being an ideal country to be referred to as a civilized country.

It's another Friday, and my heart goes to the lady in the picture below. She is human created by GOD like you and I, she was born equal in rights and dignity, and she require all the assistance she can get. She is not supposed to be begging to feed, begging to have shelter and her pain exposed to the world. She can't walk, can't crowl, and can't stand nor sit. She is often carried. She can't even lie down conveniently, not talk about sleeping well. She is a classical example of an abandoned human. The woman in Hijab happens to be the one helping her out, but how much can she do? After all, she is poor and helpless. And coming from the northern part of the country, the only thing to raise money is to take to destitution, which has been fully embraced by the duo. Every Friday, you will see them at the Abuja National Mosque in the manner captured in the picture below, begging for help. The first time I came across them, I was scared, shocked and confused. My mind almost blew out of my chest. I couldn't believe someone could be this deformed. I had to run away far from her to conceal my sadness and pity for her. But she was always on my mind. I wish someone can help her, someone with resources, contact or something. Just anything that would take her off the street and make her more comfortable. The pain of her condition should not be compounded with the hustle of finding something to feed on. It's over 3 months since I first saw her, and after that first encounter, I felt the need to go check on her once again. This time, I had embraced the reality of her condition and willing to bring her issue to public awareness. However, What has been giving me concern is the fact that, I learnt she has always been coming to Abuja National Mosque every Friday since the past 5years and the richest Muslims in this country, successful business moguls, high level government officials etc are always coming every Friday to pray at the same Mosque. When they are going In or coming out, they see this helpless Nigerian by the side of the entrance and nobody ever thought of helping her. Where is our conscience? There are philanthropists every where, there are humanitarian and Non Governmental Organizations around who have enough resources to help. I therefore urge you all to come to the rescue of this woman. Today is Friday, she would be at the Abuja National Mosque, kindly extend your helping hands.

We cannot have peace because we want peace, peace is not a commodity to be purchased. We cannot have peace because we pray for Peace, peace is not a wish to be handed to us from heaven. We can only have peace if we work for Peace. But Peace is not like poetry, where we write out our expression in such a beautiful manner. It is also not like mathematics, that can be solved with an equation. The only way to peace is human attitude. Yesterday (September 21) was the International Peace Day and the better by far University of Ilorin, in partnership with Michael Imodu National Institute for Labor Studies marked the day with a lecture program. I, on behalf of our organization, Foundation For Peace Professionals was privileged to be invited to the program. On the 21st September last year, when University of Ilorin, through its Center for Peace and Strategic Studies, under the able leadership of Dr Mahfouz Adedimeji observed the Peace Day, the celebration was done on the University campus. But this year, University of Ilorin partnered with another distinguished institution to form a block. To my understanding, this partnership brings to reality, the theme of this year's Peace Day, which is '' The Sustainable Development Goals : Building a Block For Peace ''. I am of the opinion that, building such a block is very crucial, if peace practitioners will stand a chance of restoring peace to the crisis ravaged society. As Dr Martin Luther King Jr had said, '' those who love peace must learn to organize as effectively as those who love war''. I am of the conviction that, nothing would aid our quest for Peace, other than forming a very large block of peace loving people, who are not only willing to dream of peace, but also ready to work for it. While announcing the observation of this year's Peace Day, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon stated that, '' Let us all work together to help all human beings achieve dignity and equality, to build a greener planet and make sure no one is left behind ''. Achieving the above, can only be more practical, if we bring into the block, all relevant stake holders, both within government, communities, students, youth associations, religious organizations and none governmental organizations. In view of this, let me thank the organizers of the program for kick starting the formation of a block for Peace. However, there is still more work to be done. A former US President, John F Kennedy reminds us that, '' Peace is a daily, weekly and a monthly process, which involves gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers and quietly building new structures'' we must therefore move a step further, not waiting to resolve conflict when they break out, but going after conflict, before they they are shaped, not just to resolve them, but to transform them into a source of strength and development. The Chinese define conflict as opportunity plus danger. Since conflict is inevitable in human existence, we must always seek to use conflict as our opportunity for positive growth and transformational harmony. Although, through the joint event hosted yesterday, a Peace Block has been built by the partnership that facilitated the organization of that program, but we must not allow the efforts of the block be limited to symbolic days like yesterday. On daily, weekly and monthly basis, let us find time to continue to strengthen the block, by bringing in more players and interested partners Into the fold, not just among academics and professional organizations, but also among local communities and religious bodies, so as to make it easy to engage the communities in time of need. This may be more difficult to achieve, it may even be very demanding, but most certainly, it is very necessary. Like Eleanor Roosevelt had said, '' it is not enough to talk about peace, we must believe in it. And it is not enough to believe in peace, one must work for it ''. While it is true that we are already working for Peace, we need to work more, particularly with the local communities around our environment. I want to specially urge the peace block built through yesterday's program, most respectfully, to find it worthy to. embark on purposeful mission of facilitating understanding between the several conflicting communities across Kwara state, particularly those in long protracted conflict, such as Offa/Erin Ile, Ganmo /Ganna, Sare /Tsaragi etc. Since peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to handle conflict in a peaceful manner, I believe achieving peace in our society is not a wild dream beyond our reach. Let me conclude with the words of the Chinese philosopher, Confucius who said, '' If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character. If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. And when there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world. Happy International Peace Day. By Abdulrazaq O Hamzat |

FROM ALMAJIRI TO TURKISH INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE Kindly read through: "In 2009, inspired by the philanthropic efforts of great minds like col Sani Bello (rtd), I founded The SARDAUNA MEDIA CHILD DESTITUTION ERADICATION FOUNDATION as an NGO with a objective to take children off the streets, into classroom; to help make up for their disadvantaged position of no western literacy of any kind. This we did by giving intensive teaching aimed at bringing them up to peer with their contemporaries. For good measure, we took twenty four children off the streets. Besides, Zaria being my home town, the choice of Zaria as a launch pad is strategic because of the reputation of Zaria as an Islamic knowledge centre in Africa which therefore attracts the influx of many children seeking knowledge but end up being destitute. I have good news for you, one of our boys came first in the Kaduna State NECO primary school leaving certificate. This made NNPC/SPENCO to award him a full scholarship at the Nigerian Turkish International College. An Almajiri is today in the high profile secondary school! Six others have been offered admission into the Federal Government College, Kaduna State. We are preparing the rest to also write next year. Over the years, we have funded the foundation through a percentage of revenues of Focal Point Cleaners Limited @focalpointcleaners, Focal Point Publishing Limited and Focal Point Constructions Limited. I will like to thank every customer of our various businesses for your patronage. I want you to be very proud of what your patronage has achieved. You have touched lives while getting your clothes washed or while giving us printing or construction contracts. We have kept funding this close so as not to be seen as one of those NGOs with sinister motives. We later started accepting food donations from the National Emergency Management Agency under the leadership of Alhaji Sani Sidi over the last 3 years. In recent times, I have received several messages and phone calls from well meaning Nigerians who want to contribute their own quota. I have therefore decided to open this opportunity to Nigerians to contribute towards the well-being of these kids. Attached is the admission letters of the boys and the school fees of each standing at N83000. You can decide to contribute as low as N1 or as high as you may wish. You can also decide to take up the sponsorship of one of the boys through secondary school. Before you decide to contribute, I urge you to look through the pictures and brochures and you may contribute through the account below: Account Name: Sardauna Child Destitution Eradication Foundation Bank Name: Unity Bank Account No: 0021691726 Thank you as you donate, share and broadcast this post" - Hassan Rilwan

BRING BACK OUR GIRLS IS A STRUGGLE FOR MOTHERHOOD, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL FATHERS MUST LIVE UP TO THEIR EXPECTATIONS. If you are involved in mocking the BBOG campaign that kept alive the issue of abduction of the Chibok girls, it is clear that you have no idea of what citizens responsibilities are to their countries. Take it or leave it, the Chibok Girls campaign remains the liveware of all campaigns on all abductions in the North East. This campaign was and is largely championed by women because, incidentally, the victims happened to be girls. It is a struggle for motherhood! No woman will sleep well if her child is taken away in this manner. Except, something is wrong. Therefore, many of us that sit tight to their clumsy chairs and fart nonesense before making comments are the most insensitive humans that exist in our time. Is BBOG not the same voice that prompted the Nigerian Government and the citizens the need to be more responsive and responsible on issues that concern fellow citizens. If only we understand why Boko Haram are still holding these girls and why the BBOG is still bent on demanding for the release of the girls, we will all join the campaign just to ensure defeat. Let me explain, since the ideology of the insurgence itself is centered against western education, therefore, the most disturbing and gruesome hit on western education that Boko Haram celebrate today are the gruesome killing of students of Buni Yadi in their school hostel and the abduction of this huge number of Chibok girl students in school. These two operations epitomize their inhumane struggle and symbolizes their wicked achievement. If not for the #BringBackOurGirls campaign, the girls would have been forgotten and the fight against the insurgency would not have been so serious like this. Remember that the entire world got to know much about Boko Haram and the danger it poses as a result of the abduction of the Chibok Girls campaign. The countries that opted in to help Nigeria were touched by the emotions of women and mothers of the abducted girls. We must salute BBOG! Therefore, for the BBOG campaign to persistently demand the PMB's Administration to take decisive action on the release of the girls, this is the desired spirit and effort. This is because, the President is caught between two deep rivers of decision making, so to speak. Should he listen to those saying "dialogue to secure the release of the girls" and those saying "do not dialogue for the release of the girls". The only way to sink the right message in the ears of Mr. President is to persist and persevere in the manner the group is doing. So, ride done my people, you are at the right tract. Posterity will judge and place everyone in the rightful position. Keep demanding until the girls are back NOW & ALIVE! The President is a product of pressure, so, put more pressure on him. THE FAKE GROUP THAT CLAIMED TO LOVE THE PRESIDENT MORE THAN NIGERIANS ARE SELF-SPONSORED MISCREANTS SEEKING FOR CRUMBS AT THIS MOMENT OF HUNGER. IF ONLY BBOG KNEW THIS, THEY SHOULD HAVE COME WITH REMNANTS FROM THEIR HOMES JUST FEED THOSE NONENTITIES! By IG Wala |

Even if Buhari’s government wouldn't achieve very much in other sectors, I strongly believe the government should ensure the anti corruption battle is driven to a logical point. But apart from the anti corruption battle, there are just three other things I hope this government achieve. 1. Ensure to work with the National Assembly to grant local government autonomy. Nothing can be achieved without financial empowerment at the local level. 2. Grant financial autonomy to the judiciary. A judiciary that is not financially independent cannot be strong and fair. 3. Put proper measure in place to grow local manufacturing. Our currency cannot be better if we keep relying on foreign goods and services. Our economy can't be better if we fail to diversify and utilize our human capacity. If these three things are achieved, this government can truly be considered a government of positive change. |

BEFORE YOU CONDEMN Bbog BY Abdulrazaq O Hamzat. Tell us what you have ever stood for, that can be compared to how bbog is standing for Chibok girls. How many of you condemning bbog has achieved, what Mrs Oby and bbog has achieved? What do you believe in, that you can stand for like bbog stood for the Chibok girls? Again, what have you believed in, and ever stood for that can be compared to what bbog is doing? It's over 2 years since the group has been protesting every single day for something they truly believed in, the kidnapped Chibok girls, whom many of them have never meet, but meet their parents through the protest. Members of bbog have shown the world what they believed in and are ready to continue to stand for no matter the hostility. Before you pollute the passionate struggle with your political sentiment, show us what you have done for what you believe in and place it side by side with the dedication of bbog. In global history of activism, it is right here in Nigeria that a group, bbog has successfully protested and still protesting none stop every day for over two years to demand the safe return of Chibok girls . The slogan of bbog actually says it all. What are we demanding? Bring back our girls now and alive. When shall we stop? Not without our daughters. The struggle for the Chibok girls, is a struggle for the soul of Nigeria. Irrespective of what anybody says, Bbog is determined to be the conscience of this nation. At a time when everyone is giving up on these innocent children and going about their normal businesses as if nothing ever happened, bbog is alive and reminding the nation that the Chibok girls must be brought back and alive. And despite the consistency of those who continue to test bbog's resolve to persist and undermine the essence of the protest , bbog's determination and zeal to stand for truth and justice is sustaining the movement. Where is your conscience? |

NaijainTexas:thanks alot. Your submission is helpful |
MPSA:sorry bro, no body is doubting the fact that USA maybe better in some ways, but saying Nigeria is not better in other ways can only come from an ignorant person. No insult intended. The fact that you are even repeating it without realizing how unreasonable you sound amazes me |
thedarkside:I tell you, ignorance is a very big disease. |
MPSA:bro, no vex oo, just keep drinking your garri. Obviously, you live in Hollywood, if not, you would have known how wrong you are. I can bet you that you are very ignorant about Nigeria, not talk of USA. |
If you don't know what to say, why don't you just keep quiet? And for the records, there is no comparison because in the real sense, no one country can be compared to the other. I think your lack of exposure is the major problem, if not, you would have known that, while the USA maybe better than Nigeria in some ways, Nigeria is also better than USA in many other ways. |
MPSA:are you saying even your own life cannot be better? |
sunnykalu125:are you not part of the people who often shout witch hunt when they are being processed to go to jail? |
londoner:please, can you give the true situation? |
