https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZWrh2fHXAg The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has explained the reason correctional centres in the country had been rejecting new suspects sent to them by the police. He said the authorities of the centres were doing so because the process of sending the suspects to them did not follow COVID-19 protocols. Recently, correctional facilities have often rejected many suspects sent to them by the police. The situation has left people with different speculations. However, speaking on Tuesday, after defending his Ministry’s 2021 budget proposal before the Senate Committee on Interior, Aregbesola said COVID-19 protocols were not complied with in sending the suspects. On what his ministry will do over correctional centres attacked and destroyed following the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest, Aregbesola said the ministry would soon return to the National Assembly with a supplementary budget to enable it rebuild all the affected correctional centres. https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/why-prisons-reject-new-suspects-sent-by-police-aregbesola/ |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIPmy8LRyZg From daring advertisements on social media handles such as Facebook and Twitter, to mind-boggling sale on the streets, many Nigerians are now being lured to take psychotropic drugs that are on offer for the asking. The above video shows how a military officer reacted after taking the street drug called COLORADO. Just like many others who have used it before him, he will keep hallucinating till he blacks out. If he is lucky enough, he will wake up without bruises all over his body nor will he have excruciating pains. ‘Colorado’, is a cocktail of psychotropic drug currently trending among Nigeria’s young revelers, especially teens and adolescents. ‘Colorado’ is one of the strains of banned substances that drug addicts and unsuspecting new entrants experiment with in Nigeria; mostly in Lagos, which the United Nations 2018 drug use statistics says has a high prevalent use of psychotropic substances. The UN report says Lagos, Gombe and Oyo states have between 21 and 33 per cent drug abuse prevalence, compared to the rest of the country. Among other things, the UN survey also pegged the average daily expenditure on cannabis at $1.15, equivalent to N417.45 per user. United Nations’ statistics on Drugs and Crime also state that one out of four substance abusers is female. Friends and some of drug vendors try convincing innocent people into believing that smoking marijuana, taking the blue pills and drugs like skunk, skales and this recent one (‘Colorado’) would boost your brain and make you excel in your academic or reasoning. One is also promised freedom from all your worries and problems. These are lies from the pit of hell. In fact, the use of COLORARO can cause some serious side effects such as mental health problems, psychosis and sometimes, zombie-like state which might take a long time to recover from. It has also been known to cause death. According to the National Institutes of Health, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health, ‘Colorado’ is often described as ‘synthetic marijuana’ or fake weed because some of its chemicals are like those in marijuana. In 2014, no fewer than 177 different synthetic cannabinoids were reportedly in circulation and the manufacturers are constantly changing the chemicals to dodge the laws. In January 2019, the National Bureau of Statistics and Centre for Research and Information on Substance Abuse released a survey result in which it claims that nearly 15 per cent of Nigerian adult population (around 14.3 million people) have had a “considerable level” use of psychoactive drug substances. The survey further indicated that the highest level of drug use was recorded among people aged 25 to 39, with cannabis being the most widely used drug.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgNpikC9ZLA It is no longer news that a warehouse was discovered in Lagos State, where relief COVID-19 materials were kept. Though it is not clear when exactly when the goods arrived, people were shocked that most did not get anything from the government during the lockdown, though it was claimed that there were donations made by the private sector. In this video, asides from civilians who looted the warehouse, security operatives were also seen loading their vans with sacks of palliative items.
