Excuse me, if I got this wrong, but are you not also directly the entertaining ignorance you're scolding @ the bolded.

Are you serious?

Never is such a strong word, esp when you're also speaking for others.

Who are these elites? And how are the student chosen by them?
LMAO@me entertaining ignorance by agreeing both sides had valid points and calling both sides ignorant. grin grin grin grin Gotcha.

Physic asked the same question and I answered it. I guess you didn't see that I also said both sides had valid points and listed my agreements.

You are entitled to your opinion...
Damn im trynna duck the skin complexion topic...But i see allot of it on the last page

lol back to the Black Unity, and the Black Hate from those looking in from the outside.

I explained many of the reasons why others and outsiders view us as Ignorant And Lazy....

In many stereotypes there is usually "some" truth in it

Many americans(not just black) are indeed lazy and have zero drive because It's too Damn easy to live "comfortably" in America.....

Because of Power,Wealth,Freedom...

It has it's positives and it's negatives....

You see...the average "poor" american lives like a king compared to the rest of the world.

I know many people who Have multiple cars, An apartment...Beautiful expensive items in their home, tons of jewelry

But these people would still fall under the poor/working class financial bracket..

Bottom line it's just too damn easy to life comfortably in America (for most of us)

As a Result the Average American Male becomes lazy and has no drive or desire....

You give the most 18-24 year old men a Air Conditioner, 50 Inch Tv, Video Game, Apartment,Car,Bed,Junk Food, and One Woman

And he's "content" with that......

That^ Is to easy to achieve in America, because of so much freedom an Opportunity.

As a result...So many Americans Lack the Drive to be Outstanding,

because being Outstanding is not needed to live comfortable in This Country for the Majority

In Other Countries...as a means of survival you have to be "Above Average"...So their Drive to Succeed is Higher.
I see your point. I have said this before many times...yes America and UK has welfare system placed by the government however if other countries had welfare system........a man in Kenyan wouldn't be set on fire for stealing potatoes to survive. Yahoo boys wouldn't even have the time.....and you wouldn't have too many ashyhoes selling their arse for a dollar to the foreign tourists.

Let keep it real.

stillwater: Lol. To be honest, it doesn't bother me. It doesn't hurt and I'm serious. I only hear such things on NL and they are funny. The antagonism for Igbo people is more of a political nature in Nigeria and not based genetics. wink
I hear you. My husband said similar to what you said. He said he will make sure that all of his children are proud to be Igbos regardless of what people think of Igbos.

He is already quoting a bride price on Baby C and she ain't even had her period yet! Smh.

stillwater: Darker people are also made fun of by Africans, so if this was the case and everyone was used to it and saw them as no different...why would they be made fun of/mocked (BY Africans...who have seen them all their lives) wink
With all that being said...Africans chatters have called Sexkillz an albino as if the color of his skin was his fault. He isn't albino but it was used to inflict pain in his spirit. I am sure that it has bothered him but he is confidence in whom he is and that is more than what I can say for many chatters on Nairaland.

What is also interesting is that Nairaland men idolized Beyonce and she is as light as Sexkillz and she is considered beautiful but Sexkillz is considered a misfit by his own people?

Color Stuck Syndrome is strong in Africa than Africans aren't willing to admit.

I read where you said that you are an Igbo...so you know Igbo people were considered the "mixed breeds" of Africa and treated accordingly...how does that make you feel knowing your people suffered from such ignorance?

PhysicsQED: All "well to do" is a misconception. There are too many Africans here that aren't well to do financially that I've met and know personally (whose children are in school) to believe that.

Why do people seem to believe that Indians or Koreans or other Asians can come here, some of them not being "well to do", work, put their children through school and achieve things and that's normal, but it's assumed that any African or African student has/had "well to do" parents and was rich to start with? That's what those white people do who want to convince themselves that blacks aren't mentally capable - or lack the drive or work ethic - of achieving the so called "American dream". It reassures them of the inferiority of the group they already perceive as inferior and it allows them to continue trying to ignore history as an explanation for the problems of the black people already here.

Don't believe everything you hear from one supposedly authoritative source.
Again...well to do means having the ability to but not wealthy. If the family does not work nor acquire money there is no way they can send their children to school. Real talk. My definitely of poor is BROKE and not able to provide the means for whatever it is needed.

Many of my classmates in college were African students and I am still friends with them today. I have helped with many of their issues so I know what I am talking about.

I got my sources directly from the HORSE'S MOUTH as I said before. I don't take chewed up bullshit like many chatters on Nairaland does about specific people, place, or thing.

"Afro." is unprofessional, unclean, nappy and a symbol of rebellion...

"black" is depressing, dark and evil....

"ebonics" CORRUPTION of established languages...I mean come on now...

I ain't trying to turn into Asada Shakur grin but when it comes to a ppl coming from a continent that is constantly disrespected, disregarded and r@ped..one would think that mentality would be rejected and shunned but nah....it's embraced more than ever. NOT ALL Africans...but enough to make any type of peace and solidarity of any kind impossible.

don't get sh0t now! angry angry grin

lol...i respect the guy that's all.
Now....I know I be talking about Somalians like a dog but one thing I can say about them racist mofos...THEY DO NOT CHANGE THEIR STANCE WHATSOEVER. They are all about their culture and DO NOT IMITATE OTHERS especially the ones they feel they are above.

With all these African rappers, heavy gold chain wearing, different colored weaves wearing, ooooh I want to be like Jay Z arse niggas wouldn't be imitating the very group they are above. That's real talk.

Somalians in America stick to their culture and MOST OF THEM stay with their own kind. They some begging arse mofos but they do STICK UP and support each other with their curry goat smelling arses.

PhysicsQED: Oh I read it. But by the "elite" you must have meant the elite white people through scholarships and admissions, and not the elites in Africa - cause the elites in Africa aren't doing jack sh1t for poor Africans that want to study abroad.
Yes...the "White man".

That's why I said that most African students are here by way of their well to do families. If you are not an American citizen...you are no entitled to any Pell Grant nor Student loans unless otherwise specified.

But for ANY student visas...you need to have at least 20,000 dollars in savings/checking, full tuition PAID IN FULL BY THE interview date, and room and board covered before they would even LOOK AT YOU. Other countries may have different stipulations but I am referring to America.

MsDarkSkin: There was a video I saw that I am gonna post for yall...it's kind of long so I will only post the link.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkEHWfj-Dlc

but basically it talks about how some black folks prey on our struggles and use it against us when we are the most vulnerable. they had a conversation about it in the comment section...here are a few of the posts that struck me the most:

smh.

chima and royal...your thoughts?
My thought is this...I have heard many Africans in America say that there is no way in hell that their families sold their own families for mush and flip flops. Now mind you these are supposedly "educated" Africans.

I simply asked them these questions....

Was Delta airline in service back in 1700's?
Did they have automatic rifles in 1700's?
Did they have public transport that transported slaves from their origin place to the cargo ship?

All of their answers were no.....

Then I asked them this....HOW THE Bleep DID a handful of slave traders MANAGED to transport 100 plus slaves MILES from their origin of place to the cargo ship WITHOUT losing half of the ship crew? huh huh huh huh

Now you mean to tell me these big, strong, mandingo arse warrior arse African men just skipped their arses to the ship without food and water for hours with a smile on their faces?!!!! I am sure these big and overgrown African men didn't just go without asking questions or being shackled.

GTFOH.

But I guess I'd need you to define "poor" first before just laughing this claim off.

If you mean Somalia poor, then you may have a point.
I get my source concerning visas and immigration from the HORSE'S MOUTH. I don't need google.

I guess you failed to read...."unless they are selected by the Elite".

One thing I want to add...

I did read a comment about one of the reasons why Black Americans do not prosper because they complain and depend on the system.

Let me use President Obama who is viewed by the American public as a BLACK MAN although he has a white mother.

President Obama is/has:

College graduate
Worked many high level political positions
married to a Black American woman, who has a college educated with a worthy profession. She didn't go to school for four years to be a secretary or housewife
Publisher
Nobel Peace recipient
He didn't go to the most populace country in Africa...he went to Ghana. lipsrsealed That should tell you a lot.
Became the FIRST BLACK MAN to hold the MOST POWERFUL POSITION in the world and they STILL TREAT HIM LIKE SHIT.

He has never made any excuses, complained about the "White man", and even tried to address publicly to all Black men in America to pull your pants up and keep it moving. YET...HE IS CALLED BY HIS SURNAME as if he was never president.

What are the excuses now?

MsDarkSkin: Our ancestors came from Africa.

A beautiful place rich in history, culture and beauty but the mentalities? GARBAGE!!

Very tribalistic, hostile and pro-separatism in nature.
It's the same way TODAY!

imagine someone saying "japanese americans suffered like AAs"...
I guess it never occurred to them the edge they got over us was a PUBLIC APOLOGY..REPARATIONS..And
a chance to climb the social ladder by literally being given a boost. They were GIVEN GOVERNMENT FUNDED HOUSING, education, and the means to elevate collectively as a people. Mostly it was based on politics...but the advantage they had was mostly based on the fact that THEY although not white....were NOT black. It's amazing how even their descendants who are 3rd generation immigrants can now shamelessly look at AAs with disdain...smh.

Japanese Americans STILL can speak Japanese. They still have Japanese surnames and a culture they have brought with them since before the 1940s and even while locked up in American prison camps...I think there is NO comparison.

I agree that some of us are lackluster and lazy but
to say slavery and discrimination are non-factors? smh...who feels it knows it.
Yes...there are some lazy arse Black Americans on government assistance and just as well I can count lazy Black Americans...I can count lazy Africans who used other to escape or remove themselves from poverty. What is the difference?

Now...you already know how I feel about ANYBODY being on the system because any money I earn go into the "help the crook" pockets including settled immigrants and refugees. Because of the recession...more and more people are on the system including former upper class workers. Karma is a biatch eh?

With all that said...is that enough to keep disunity with Black folks going? Or we haven't really gotten to the root of the issue? The things that were said both on culture and fashion section hasn't warrant a solid reason why Blacks shouldn't unite and work toward something positive despite differences.
Culture › Re: Would There Ever Be Universal Unity With Colored/black Folks? by MrsChima(op): 10:47pm On Jul 03, 2012
That's sad.

I briefly read some of the comments and I wasn't surprised to read them because I know ignorance wins all day. However I do see some valid points on both side but the ignorance was overbearing.

Londonboy made an interesting comment about President Obama and how the older Blacks were in tears. That's fact. However we know the media is owned by those who have no interest in exposing the real truth.

I do agree that there are some Blacks living off the government but why are other nationalities including refugees are being "excluded"? Is that enough reason for disunity with Blacks?

What are the REAL REASONS is what I want people on both sides to express because it seems to be real fuckery that people aren't WILLING TO KEEP it 100.

What also made it interesting is that Londonboy is Nigerian and he understands the struggle that many colored folks go through in Western world. However, many Africans that come over without engaging in illegal and fraudulent activities are students from upper middle class families that can afford to send their members to school. You will never see a poor African attend American Universities unless they were selected by the Elite.

I don't know if you were on the Romance section when an Black American chatter created a thread dedicating to Nigerian men and how women should obtain a man and stay married. The responses from the men were expected however some of them weren't realistic. I basically said if she had dissed Nigerian men...she would have been called all kind of slave biatches, welfare queens, and a baby momma.

She titled it Akata teaching you how to keep a man and stay married.....(paraphrased)

Your thoughts?
Culture › Would There Ever Be Universal Unity With Colored/black Folks? by MrsChima(op): 10:34pm On Jul 03, 2012
Would there ever be an universal unity with colored/Black folks?

Why is it when I see other nationalities...there are more unity amongst them than those of darker melanin? When one is removed from their original birthright...does it make them better than those who haven't made the total transition?

What do you think is the reason why there are so much disunity regarding Black/colored folks?

Let keep it real.
