Yes you do at the bolded lol. Example? After dinner my five year old cousin saw the lemon bars my sister made for dessert. He said "ew, I don't like it!" I forced some into his mouth and he had two servings. A case of circumstantiality.

Try looking at this from an unbiased point of view. That's all I'm asking. There are foolish people in offline relationships, are there not? How many times do we hear of someone committing a heinous crime, and their neighbors or even spouses had no clue. "He seemed like a nice guy" or "she always brought us cakes. I never saw this coming". It's possible to know someone online like the back of your hand just as it's possible for a real life couple to not know a thing about each other but they think they know each other well.

Isn't going on a first date or meeting someone for the first time going into something with no clue? Men and women stress about making first impressions. If they had a clue, then they wouldn't stress over making good first impressions. Offline or online, everything is a risk. There's no such thing as a risk-free life.
I can tell you the same thing try looking from an unbiased point of view and try sticking to offline dating.  Now you see how foolish that sound?  Exactly.

I didn't do the exclusive dating thing so my dating experience are totally different what you have mentioned.  I go out and mingle with people and that's how I meet new people by going out doing things while breathing fresh air.   Through those meetings, I get to know the person more by spending physical time with them and the people they know then I establish a friendship and through the friendship a relationship is formed albeit platonic or casual.

I don't have to go online to find people to mingle with. Offline mingling is fun to me and safer in my opinion.

You and I can dissect the difference between online and offline dating as often as we can it won't change neither one of our opinions of what we think IS RIGHT or WRONG.

Again GOOD LUCK.

That's like saying out of vanilla and chocolate ice creams, you've only had chocolate and it's the best. That's called bias lol.

I'm not telling you to try anything. When I said be open-minded, I meant put yourself in others' shoes. I know offline dating works for a good number of people. It also doesn't work for a good number of people. Like everything in this world, there is good and bad. There are good and bad people in the real world just as their are good and bad people in the virtual world. Everything in life comes with a risk. So, whether offline or online, play safe.
I have never been stabbed before and I know it hurt like hell!  I don't have to try something to know what doesn't interest me.  Going into something foolish ISN'T FOR ME however I will leave the open mindedness to you in that area seeing guys offline doesn't appreciate your personality accordingly to you.

Risks in the dating world is going into something with no clue or protection.  Risks can be eliminated if one chooses to do so.  Adults being foolish is not an excuse.  Safety and all I will take OFFLINE any day.

Nevertheless, I do know what's you are saying and GOOD LUCK!

I can't tell you which is worse because I don't engage in online dating but I can tell you this much OFFLINE dating was the BOMB! cheesy

Me? I get chummy with people online way faster than people I meet in person. People I see in person are usually after me for the wrong reasons, so I avoid those kinds of relationships. I've never met anyone, in person, that appreciated my personality. Never.

That coworker falls into the naive category. Another case.

Just be open-minded. I know you're strongly "no" on this topic, but that doesn't mean you should turn the cheek to the possibilities that are lol. People pick pockets more often than people getting scammed online. Most child molesters molest children they know and have met directly several times than going online looking for a target. The real world is just as bad as the virtual; probably more so but that's only because there are more people in the real world than virtual.

Online dating isn't for everyone and telling someone to be open minded to something that doesn't interest them is like telling a love-vendor to give ashyhoes a year off.

If it work for you MORE POWER TO YOU.  I like knowing who I am talking to before establishing anything with them and that includes meeting them in person.  I beg to differ about the offline being just as bad as online which is like comparing apples with oranges.  I would suggest you switch your circles if you are not meeting guys who doesn't like your personality offline.

I have no horror OFFLINE DATING STORIES like too many of you guys seem to have.

Yes, I am AGAINST it.  But my opinion doesn't matter.   cheesy

@Mrs.chima

yeah,I get your point
its tradition that the lady gets gifts, but  common  there should be that recognition (however faint) that the guy has done well and present a surprise gift or a sort of thank you give
To me,if the guy has really pulled out all the stops to make it that special, then yes he would deserve a gift,
but like you said,he shouldn't expect gifts simply kos he gave her gifts. Its up to the woman oh
Don't get me wrong suga.  I am saying some women do not think they should buy their husbands anything.  If that is the case then the man shouldn't make a big deal out of it because OP saying it like someone DESERVE a gift.  It goes for the women as well.  If her husband doesn't buy her a gift then she shouldn't make a big deal out of it as well.

Gifts is given from the heart and shouldn't be expected.

Cases. It doesn't always happen. It doesn't only happen online. Remember, Eddie Murphy picked up a hooker he saw and met in person, who, unbeknownst to him, happened to be a man.

How can you meet someone with whom you haven't established any form of relationship? Lol. "Hey, your profile pic is cute. Wanna meet up?" I don't think it can work like that, unless the person/people is/are naive lol. The same way I'd get to know a person, say at a party or some other form of event, first before giving him my number, I'd get to know someone online before giving him my email address/number/skype name.
It is funny that people are establishing relationships with people they have never met not knowing if the person is male or female. I guess if a person is sexually open it wouldn't matter if they are chatting with a male or female huh?

I am willing to bet you wouldn't get too chummy with a person until after you met them. Giving someone your email address and cellphone number is different than establishing a serious relationship with someone you haven't met.

A coworker married her husband the next day after meeting him for the first time and now she's going through a divorce because she found out the hard way about who he really is.

Just like Mrs chima said Nigerian men come back in droves to marry same 'ugly girls' at home.If we are that ugly, why u stay put with our european, american etc counterparts??!![/color] receiving anything in return. Marrying a Nigerian woman, of nowadays, is like being in a same-sex relationship. The give and take has to be 50/50 because technically you have no idea what you are getting into, unlike in the olden days when the man was cocksure what he is buying or investing in.

So is the state of our women. And yes, I think our women should shower the men with gifts too. Its only fair

with something personal engraved on it
That's a nice gift if a woman wants to give it to her husband but OP is asking do men DESERVE engagement gifts.

Men shouldn't expect engagement gifts simply because they have given gifts in return. It is not necessary to exchange gifts. It is a tradition for mane to shower the women with gifts however if the women doesn't give gifts in return then it shouldn't be problem.

That was in the olden days when women were women, chaste and pious. In the days of our mothers, women were beautiful and worth every cent a man spent on them. Now, women of this generation are not so beautiful, internally and externally.

Present Nigerian women are ugly and don't get married until they are in their 30s, desperate and short of good eggs, mostly spending their time on NL looking for rich and married men to snag. I wouldn't want to spend my money on a Nigerian girl, of any tribe or creed. Most of them  are more like men, status post many abortions and, sometimes, have turned their uterus into a dud, making them physiologically men. Why would anyone want to shower money, affection and love on someone like that without receiving anything in return. Marrying a Nigerian woman, of nowadays, is like being in a same-sex relationship. The give and take has to be 50/50 because technically you have no idea what you are getting into, unlike in the olden days when the man was cocksure what he is buying or investing in.

Nigerian men are running back from aboard in droves and out the villages to those "ugly and short of good eggs" Nigerian women.

And the fact that OP said he doesn't plan on going back home which also raises a red flag as well seeing that he is Yoruba. From what I know Yorubas are big on family and all.

Goldieluks:
Try thinking outside the box,for once.
before you claim to love someone you met online, you must have met them in reality, and get to know them,
because the same heart break your trying to avoid for meeting someone online,is the same one you'd
experience meeting someone offline,no two ways.
I was referring to those who NEVER MET THE PERSON PERIOD offline.  How can you know whom you are talking to if you never met them offline?  It is different when you meet the person and continue a long distance online relationship but to establish a relationship with someone you haven't met personally?  That's a bit uhmm.

Since people keep saying ONLINE IS THE SAME AS OFFLINE let me give you an offline example, let say a girl goes to a club for a drink and she meet a guy at the bar. They share a conversation that may last about 30 minutes and then the next day they establish a relationship. BOTH IS A BIT UHMM.

I just read something someone posted on this thread.  Why would someone paid a site to hook them up with someone else when there are FREE SITES for hookups and chatting?

Those people who paid MONEY to hookup are the only need to be investigated mentally.  Those sites does nothing but provide a channel for children and adults to hook up for a fee.

It is just as dangerous as offline so again why pay for a dangerous adventure?
