Documents required
1. Two form of Identification ( Passport and Drivers licence)
2. Proof of residence in the state like bills with your name on it (Easy way out- get a US number and get the printout of your payment with your accomodation address or go to the bank with your host) I went to the bank with my host
3. Minimum balance for checking account is 1500 at every point in time but if you go below 1500 you pay 12$ fee. This is not necessarily the opening balance. (check www.bankofamerica.com)

Hello momma! Congrats on the birth of your child! Something similar happened to me in 2013 when I had my son. He had to stay in the nicu for a little over a week.(He was born almost two months early). They did bring a separate bill. If they're not willing to do a discount you'll have to do a payment plan. Don't worry..they'll ask you for the amount that's convenient for you. Our bill was over $30k. It wasn't easy men. Especially for an unbudgeted occurrence. However when it was down to like $10k they offered a bulk payment option that if we could pay 5k at once they would round off the account. (Because we never missed a payment). We did that and we were homefree. cheesy. It was only after the last payment that we got the zero balance letter.
My advice is...do a payment plan and try not to miss a payment. Good luck!

Please has anyone had similar issue and how did you resolve it. Especially as regards the Oakbend additinal $5200 bill

My baby is 1 month old today and I intend to leave back to NIGERIA on 25th April. [/quote]

Wow congrats daddy! Thanks for this detailed info. Please my question is on account opening at Bank of America..what documents were requested for the account opening? Is there a minimum deposit? I will also check their website for the info. Thank you!

FADEO:
So missionary Journey completed. Returned to Naija on saturday 25th, march 2017. So here is the breakdown of experience and expenses....

Got to US through Houston POE on the 19th of January with DW and my Daughter.( I shared the POE experience previously)

On the 20th of January, went into Bank of America, Open a Joint account with DW and we were given temporary ATM card immediately while we deposited all the cash with us into the account. (This decision was on of the best decisions we made in the early part of our entry). I also applied for a credit card 2 weeks later as i realised that I cant rent a car unless i have a credit card.

On Medical,
LO arrives at Oakbend Medical center, Fortbend county on the 3rd of March, (2 days after due date) in the hands of Dr E, and while I was aked to Cut the umbilical cord, Nice experience. ( i also shared this earlier and I also commend all women, Una dey try abeg!!!)

Oakbend baby registry applied for a Birth certificate and SSN. While i booked appointement for Passport on the 14th of March as that was the earliest day. ( although i made delay of booking after DW was discharged, you may need to book appointment immediately the LO arrives)

DR E - 1900, Lab- 205 ( Dr E required a Lab test but we paid her)
Oakbend- 2500 (discharged after 2 days)
NICS(pead)- 335 (after 20% Discount)
Pead Visit - 100 ($50 per visit, had two visits)
Lab 49
Birth Cert 46 (for 2 copied, was read after 3 business days)
SSN free (Got it my mail on the 14th-5 business days from birth)
Passport 165 (expedited- visited the downtown office on tuesday and was asked to pick it up on friday)
VOA 180 (applied for visa on arrival on monday 20th and was ready on tuesday 21st, Thanks to Desoul...) Payment for the Visa done at the Nigerian Airport in Lagos, If you dont have a dollar card, you will pay $200 cash but if you have a dollar card you will pay $180

Infant ticket was war with Air France/KLM... I had a quote for $469.... I called over 13 times requesting to book a return ticket for the infant which could have dropped it to about 105$ but Airfrance/KLM no agree. It was annoying at a point cos the supervisor insistent that he has been working for 9 year with the company and it has never been done.... So on the last call, i gave up and put my mind to paying the 469$, which was paid at the airport.
Checked in 12 items (8 bags and 4 baby accessories). Flight was smooth, layover in Amsterdam was 5 hours and was not boring as we made use of the lounge. Touch down lagos saturday 25th, 2017 at 8:28pm.

Immigration was flawless and LO was stamped in for One month with VOA.

ALL ZERO BALANCE GOTTEN for all MEDICAL RELATED EXPENSES.

I hope I covered all areas in detail. Opened to any question. you can private chat me for more detail. Available 24/7 for any related question for anyone in this forum. This forum is a DIY forum, If you can read from part 1 and ask questions for clarity. From Visa application to doctors correspondence to Visa Interview to flight booking to food stuffs question to POE experience To Delivery and Documentation to Returning home and luggage management to avoid paying for extra luggages were all piece of cake due to the level of handful information from this forum.

I pray that God will continue to replenish all pocket of parent that are taking this step for their kids.

God Bless you all

Pls we'll be travelling to new jersey for a two weeks vacation in April,I just want to know if I can go along with cerelac for my 1yr baby with Milo and golden morn for my daughter who is 4yrs.
Am asking cos these are the only tins they eat and I know we won't be able to go shopping for cereals same day we get there.

Yes you can. You can check them in or carry them in your hand luggage. They are only against any form of liquids, yoghurt included. I know this because my son is a jollof rice lover and I always carry a small hot cooler of food for him cheesy

No problems at all. Plans change. As long as the purpose for which you are traveling remains constant i.e. Holiday, medical, business etc with what you told your VO / filled during your Dropbox application, I believe you should be fine.

Cheers

Thanks so much for your reply.

Dear VO, during my Dropbox renewal I picked June as my intended date of travel. I have the visa now. Is it possible to travel before that date? Do I need to write a letter to the consulate about my decision to travel before the specified date? Thanks!
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by MrsM: 11:39am On Mar 14, 2017
Hello people...I have a question. During my Dropbox renewal I stated June as my travel date. Depending on when I get the cheapest flight I might have to travel next month or in May. Will this cause any problems for me at POE? Has anyone on here travelled before their specified intended date of travel with no problems?
Note that I put June because the visa I had was going to Expire in May..I didn't want to have an expired visa on my trip even if they stamped me in for 6months.
Thank you!

Someone told me that every job has a NOC...but after days of searching..I'm so confused and almost ready to give up! I'm looking for the NOC code for a Senior Seismic Acquisition Specialist who works offshore on a ship. I keep thinking its NOC 2212 but the duties dont really align...or maybe its just english. Some of the duties are

• Monitor the recording of seismic and peripheral data to ensure that the quality meets contractual obligation
• Ensures logs are maintained at all times during data acquisition
• Monitoring the QC products and highlight any marginal or out of spec condition
• Operation, maintenance and repair of all equipment and systems within the department to comply with manufacturers specification
• Conversant with Workboat operations as a Workman & Backup Coxswain.

Please I really need help! Help me figure out the NOC code.
Attention gurus and anyone else that might have an idea!

Hi Bro,

You must be very lucky. We have been struggling get my wife's transcripts sent to WES since April 2015. We don't to know someone to help from her school (OOU).

The WES status reads "Waiting for required documents".

Please, any help/advise would be appreciated.

Do you know anyone in Canada? I will advise you to scan your wife's degree certificate and sent it to them so they can help you print it out and mail it to WES. (Its way cheaper that way). Hopefully they will start working with that pending the time the transcripts will be ready. If they successfully verify your certificate they might eventually not need the transcript. Good luck!

I don't think you should be worried.
I saw on another site that, sometimes they evaluate with just certificates. I guess depending on the country of study or school of study.

Thanks so much for your response. I am still looking for more information on the matter though...has this happened to anyone here before? I'm more relaxed now though and I will soon get into the pool, pending the time hubby"s ielts and transcript will be ready. Good luck to all of us!

Hello people! Please I have a question oo. I just got a mail from WES that my assessment is ready. I only sent my certificate to them and I'm sure they received it. But my transcript was just sent yesterday and I know for sure that its enroute. Can they do assessment with just the degree certificate? Should I be worried?

You will surely get the maximum language points. I want to be like you come January lol. Any tips on the writing part?

Hello there! I will advise that you practice writing examples. ..at least 3 of each..and look for someone to 'mark' it for you. Time yourself (I used a stopwatch to practice) You can write more than 150 or 250 words...dont write too much though and most importantly..dont write less than the required words. Also..take into consideration the tense that was used in the question. If it was something that happened in the past, use appropriate past tense..and if its something that is present..use present continous. Dot your I's and cross your t's. Divide your writeup into paragraphs and make sure your writing is legible.
You should also try to take a couple of minutes to write out the points you want to write on and then just develop them. Just refer back to secondary school essay writing.
Finally..make sure you read over what you've written before time runs out. There might just be some little little mistakes you missed. USE PENCIL TO WRITE.It just makes it easier for you to make corrections. Oh ...also try to take more than 1 pencil. Two or three will be better..because anything can happen! Here is wishing you goodluck for January!

What you have is good enough, it may not make significant difference in your overall crs score, you don't need to retake the exam. Actually, CLB 9 requires 8,7,7,7 which gives maximum score under fsw point grid while 8.5,8,7.5,7.5 gives CLB 10, which gives the highest mark in your overall crs score

Okay...i guess I'm good to go then. Thank you!

If you had 7.5 where you had 6.5, you would have had the maximum crs point for language which in turn is a significant booster of your overall crs. However, what you have is very very good enough, you don't need to rewrite

My ielts results are as follows:

Listening 8.5
Reading 8.5
Writing 7.0
Speaking 7.0

Overal: 8.0

Do i get maximum crs points for Language?

thanks!
