The event was conducted by the Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, Ikot Inyang, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom today, Friday, April 26, 2019.

Following the attack on Friday, April 19 in Kaduna by gunmen which claimed many lives. USAID/Nigeria mourns two of his partners in the attack.

Below is what USAID/Nigeria wrote on its Facebook page:

“With great sorrow USAID/Nigeria pays tribute to two members of its family of implementing partners who lost their lives on April 19 when gunmen stormed the Kadjura Castle resort in Kaduna. Ms. Faye Mooney, a Mercy Corps team member in Nigeria and British national, and Mathew Oguche, a Nigerian training assistant with the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) both died in the attack. In a statement, Mercy Corps said Ms. Mooney was a “dedicated and passionate communications and learning specialist who devoted her time to making a difference in Nigeria.” Mr. Oguche, a training assistant with INSO Nigeria “was a kind, intelligent and outward looking young man with a passion for learning and a deep commitment to helping others,” INSO said in a statement. Our thoughts are with their families, loved ones and colleagues at this difficult time.”

A mother has been arrested for conspiring with a nurse at an undisclosed hospital to trafficked her 6 hours baby for N850,000.

Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have apprehended five members of a child trafficking syndicate who allegedly sold a six-hour-old baby for N850,000 shortly after he was born.

On Saturday Rabiu Ladodo, the Commissioner of Police in the state, who paraded the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Owerri, described the crime as “absurd and irritating.”

Ladodo said the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.

The CP noted that it was unbelievable that the mother of the newborn, Chinonye Oparaocha, 23, conspired with the other suspects to trade the child after delivery.

Other suspects involve in the crime are; Confidence Anyanwu, 28; Duru Christian, 38; George Iyowuna, 38, and William Cynthia, 44.

Ladodo said the mother of the baby conspired with a nurse at the hospital where she was delivered of the baby to take the child to Rivers State, where he was trafficked for N850,000.

It took coordinated intelligence from his men for the baby to be recovered and the suspects arrested, he stated.

“On February 8, 2019, at an undisclosed clinic on Nekede Road in the Owerri West LGA, one Chinonye Oparaocha was delivered of a baby boy.

“The woman immediately conspired with one Confidence Anyanwu, a nurse and native of Umuhu Okwuato in the Aboh Mbaise LGA, in company with her husband, Amanze Anyanwu (at large), and carried the six hours old baby to Port Harcourt in Rivers State, where one Duru Christian, was standing by,” the CP said.

The CP explained that at Port Harcourt, Christian in company with Iyowuna, met them and took custody of the baby.

Ladodo said, “George Iyowuna met them at their hideout, took the baby boy and handed him over to a prospective buyer, William Cynthia and her husband, who eventually paid the sum of N850,000.

“On April 13, operatives of the Scorpion Squad of the command, after diligent investigation, arrested these five suspects, including the mother of the baby and the nurse, who delivered her of the baby.”

The CP said the suspects had given useful information to the police, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.

On Monday, a spokesperson for the Danish billionaire confirmed that his children were on holiday in the south Asian country.

Anders Povlsen, one of the owners of British online fashion retailer, Asos, says three of his four children were killed in the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka.

A series of blasts, most thought to be the work of suicide bombers, was targeted at churches and five star hotels in eight different locations.

Spokesperson for the Danish billionaire confirmed on Monday that his children were on holiday in the south Asian country, Daily Mail reported.

One of Povlsen’s children, Alma, a few days ago, had uploaded an image of her three siblings, Astrid, Agnes and Alfred, lounging at a poolside.

It is unknown which of his three children died in the bombings which have claimed at least 290 lives.

Manisha Gunasekera, Sri Lankan high commissioner to the UK, said eight British nationals were killed in the attacks.

U.S., China, Japan and Portugal citizens were also killed in the bombing.

No group has claimed responsibility but the police have arrested 24 suspects in connection with the incident.

The police blamed the attack on National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ), an extremist group which were the subject of an intelligence warning 10 days before the attacks.

A young man from from the middlebelt area who became tired of life has ended his life in a gruesome way.

The man identified as Hungwa Igbavenda, A.K.A Agwei, toke his own life on Sunday which happened to be Easter Sunday.

Reports says that the sad incident reportedly took place at Ameladu Ipav In Gboko LGA. Mr. Hungwa, took his life through hanging and the reason for his decision is still unknown.

The suicidal pictures currently are trending on social media as his family members mourn.

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi has declared Friday a day of mourning with 114 people still missing days after a boat capsized on Lake Kivu, killing 13, the presidency said.

Also, he decided to make it obligatory for passengers on the lake, the site of regular drownings, to wear lifebuoys, Tshisekedi’s office said in a statement.

The motorised boat, known locally as a pirogue, had left the city of Goma on Lake Kivu’s northern shore and was headed for the town of Kalehe to the west when it capsized Monday night.

According to the passenger manifest, which does not list stowaways, there were 49 adults and seven children on board the vessel, laden with goods.

On Tuesday, emergency services said 35 people had been rescued alive.

On Tuesday, Apollinaire Bulindi, an honorary provincial minister and engineer urged Tshisekedi to make good on a campaign pledge to repair the Goma-Bukavu highway that many of the drowned passengers may have taken but is currently unusable.

According to AFP, River transport is one of the most used in DR Congo with its numerous waterways. Boat mishaps are common on the lakes and rivers of the resource-rich but impoverished former Belgian colony.

A 35-year-old Canadian woman has died of cancer earlier this month. It can be revealed that she spent the last moments of her life living it up, and it’s all detailed in her obituary which she pencil down.

Bailey Jean Matheson was diagnosed with cancer two-year ago, she decided to forgo chemotherapy and spend the rest of her time on Earth enjoying what time she had left. Sadly, she died on April 5.

In her obituary published April 9, Matheson urged people to not “take the small stuff so seriously and live a little.” She thanked several people, including her parents for “letting me live the rest of my life the way I believed it should be.”

She wrote: “I know how hard that must have been watching me stop treatment and letting nature take its course.” “I love you both even more for this.”

Matheson, a Canadian, wrote of being an only child, and thanked her friends for being the siblings she never had.

“I never thought I could love my friends more than I did but going through this and having your unconditional love and support you have made something that is normally so hard, more bearable and peaceful,” she said.

“To my Brent,” Matheson wrote to her boyfriend, whom she met just three months prior to her diagnosis. The couple seemingly met on a dating app, as she told him: “You had no idea what you were getting yourself into when you swiped right that day.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better man to be by my side for all the adventures, appointments, laughs, cries and breakdowns,” she said. “You are an amazing person and anyone in your life is so fortunate to know you. I love you beyond words.”

Matheson wrote her own obituary because, “She said, ‘I don’t want it to sound like a normal, boring obituary. I want it to be a message to everybody I loved,” Matheson’s friend, Julie Carrigan, told NBC News’ TODAY.

For her part, Matheson lived a fulfilling life, as she wrote in her obituary: “35 years may not seem long, but damn it was good!”

On Wednesday, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command paraded a man, Essien Okon, who allegedly killed his 12-year-old son, Joseph.

Report says that Essien and his wife, Peace, allegedly prepared a poisonous concoction with a certain seed called asene and forced the boy to drink it.

It was learnt that they took the victim to a swamp where he was buried.

Joseph was a wizard, who killed his former wife, the father, who confessed to the crime, said.

Essien married Peace after the death of his former wife, Joseph’s mother.

He added that many of the misfortunes he had been having was caused by the boy.

Zaki Ahmed, the state Commissioner of Police, in his maiden interaction with journalists, said the suspects would be arraigned at the end of investigation.

“On March 25, 2019, operatives of Oron division arrested one Essien Okon and Peace Okon of Edoho Emma Street, Oron Local Government Area, who conspired and lured their son, Joseph Okon, now deceased, whom they accused of witchcraft, into an engine boat on the pretext of going to cut bamboo sticks in a swamp to be used for construction of a kitchen.

“While at the swamp, the suspects removed a concoction, prepared with poisonous seed called asene and water; they used enema and pumped the concoction into the deceased’s stomach, leading to his instant death. The suspects secretly dug a shallow grave in the swamp and buried the deceased there,” he said.

A young lawyer while observing his National Youth Service (NYSC) has been confirmed dead after falling off a moving commercial bus, popularly known as Danfo.

Akhigbe Nuel Odias, who is a graduate of Ambrose Ali University, sustained head injuries from the fatal accident on Isheri-Igando road in Lagos state.

On Monday, April 15, the young man was reported to have been rushed to the hospital immediately the accident occurred around 9:45pm.

But, sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

A prophet has officially warned lovers against calling Jesus or God during sex.

The G.O of Heaven’s Gate Ministry, Ghana, Prophet Kumchacha, has said any woman who screams the name of God or Jesus Christ when having sex, will end up in hell.

While appearing on a live program on UTV, the cleric, said:

“Whether you are making the love with your husband or boyfriend, once you scream the name of Jesus Christ while in the act, there is no way you will not go to hell,”

Specially trained angels will subject such people to all forms of severe beatings on judgment day before throwing them into hell because shouting the name Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit under such instances constitutes a grievous offense punishable by being thrown into hell, he further revealed.

He further warned: “Read Exodus 21:1-7, it says you should not mention the name of God in vain. So while being romanced, if you are mentioning the name like that, you commit a big sin. If care is not taken, you could be flogged one day by invisible hands while in the act.”

A man has been caught knowingly transferring HIV to women he met on dating apps. The said man is from Maryland.

34-year-old Rudolph Smith, of Frederick, was taken into custody on Monday after a 21-month long investigation, the Frederick Police Department said.

Authorities said they received a tip that Smith was actively having sexual relations with multiple women knowing that he was HIV positive.

Detectives said he was meeting the women on various dating websites and apps.

Smith has been indicted on four counts each of assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment and knowing transfer of HIV prohibited, Fox News report.

Detectives have identified and contacted several victims, but are urging anyone who may have had a sexual relationship with Smith around or after July 2017 to contact them.

According to a local Fox affiliate, reported that a man from Michigan is suing his parents, saying they threw out $29,000 worth of porn and intimacy gadgets he collected over several decades.

The 40-year-old had moved into his parents’ home in Michigan after a 2016 divorce and left for Muncie, Indiana, in August 2017, citing a lawsuit filed in federal court in Michigan, Fox 17 report.

But he said that when his parents came by to drop off the rest of his stuff 10 months later, 14 boxes full of adult toys, magazines, and movies were missing.

Fox 17 now reveal that the man now wants nearly $87,000 in damages from his parents.

“We counted twelve moving boxes full of pornography plus two boxes of intimacy gadgets, as you call them. We began that day the process of destroying them and it took quite a while to do so,” a screenshot of the lawsuit included in the Fox 17 report said the parents told their son in an email.

“If you had a problem with my belongings, you should have stated that at the time and I would have gone elsewhere. Instead you choose to keep quiet and behave vindictively,” Fox 17 said the man then told his parents in an email.

“I would have done the same if I had found a kilo of crack cocaine. Someday, I hope you will understand,” The man’s father said in an email included in the lawsuit that he threw out the stash for his son’s mental and emotional health, added.
