Naija guys are handsome, hardworking and rich.

SA guys police are not happy with the above, therefore unleash hatred which results to killing.

I have been off and on bro.

I saw the thread on front page and pointed out some error. Captown Khayelitsha is the 3rd biggest slum in the world as of this minute and it didn't make the list.

It is actually 2nd to Kenya. That's what I came to point out to OP only to see that guy who sought to become Mr Nairaland throwing tribal slurs everywhere....a guy I got my friends and followers to vote for all through the preliminaries.

It was a shock. I had to let him have it.
Khayelitsha is now developed chief.

That list is grossly distorted and unreliable. It does not consider current economic status of Nigeria and was carelessly quoted from outdated information. Dangote and other Nigerian magnates' net worth had dwindled due to a crash on a Naira and most significantly recession.

you don't see Americans on Nigeria forums saying crap do you?

now gerarahia and go look for next Zimbabwean or Mozambican to lynch..
If we really want to be Nigeria, it will really have to cost us so dearly.

Firstly you will have to have Boko Haram
Secondly you will have to have oil and MEND on the other side which will have to bomb your supply every now and then.

Then we will have to demolish all the heavy infrastructure that we boost in SA

Over 70% of our urbanised population will have to return back to villages and be locked back to the stone age.

Again we will have to reduce our power output (National grid) of 48 000MW to a mere 3 000MW and become a generator reliable nation.

All our toll roads and expensive highways, we will lose all that.

I mean it will cost us so dearly to be like Nigeria. Why can you wish us to be like Europe or America?

To be a giant, other African countries have to see you as one. How many countries in Africa see SA as more important than Nigeria geo-politically speaking? There is more to Africa than Southern Africa!

True, not every well-populated country would become a super power, but virtually every superpower has a population of over 100 million...important info for SA

Also important to point out that, Nigeria`s Continental acceptability has come at a price, not something a young nation like SA can displace through over-night bravado

Then there is Nigeria`s cultural reach; don`t get me started on that one. SA stands no chance!

Bye

Stop embarrassing yourself. What do you mean there is more to Africa than Southern Africa? Is Southern Africa not in Africa? Bwahahahahaha…

Well for your information, other Africans do not flock in Nigeria as much as they frequent SA. Even your fellow brothers know well that SA is their destination.

England has population of about 60 mil but they are superpowers. They once conquered half of the world including USA.

SA is not a young Nation, It is by far older than Nigeria. Read history and stop embarrassing yourself.

Culture is nothing. All Africans have their own culture.

In conclusion.

Nigeria is not a giant of Africa. That can only be dismissed as a self praise.

@aflame100

I believe that if you proclaim yourself as the giant you must be able to become a magnet and attract foreign nations to your territory. Look at America, that's where nations flock and above that it does not proclaim itself as the giant of the world. Otherwise we will continue to reduce you as ridiculous to continue telling people that you are a giant but when you have nothing to show for it. Over 80% of Nigerian population live in abject poverty and the millions of Northerners have been displaced from their homes. So, what kind of giant is that with so many problems? Stop ridiculing yourself for once and admit that you are not a giant but just a most populous state with many challenges.

That's an opinion and not a fact.

Yes to your own standard it is but not to our (South African) standard. SA attracts Africans all over the continent including over 2 million Nigerians. SA is home to over 10 million foreign African nationals. So in that sense who is the boss?

What do you mean by that or do you think that SA does not have radio stations? SA has many radio stations which I cannot even count. We have national radio stations under SABC, privately owned radio stations and community radio stations. That's why it will be difficult for me to count as they are many.

Nigeria as a nation may be on hard times but no African can compete with the average Nigerian citizen in any part of the world, no one!

Even Egyptians and Libyans cannot!

Nigerians are simple the most achieved individuals in all aspects of business, education, global organisations, travel, foreign relations and private endeavours.

The average South African or East African cannot compare!

Despite bad stereotypes, majority of African women will date and marry a Nigerian before all others. Even Jamaicans and caribbean women prefer Nigerian men before their own.
Just continue on dreaming.

South Africa has not yet started with the oil production. They are planning for production soon but that will only be sufficient for local market for some 15 years.

While South Africa is busy building their infrastructure, Nigeria is busy chasing after GDP. How foolish is that?

South Africa is not even in competition. It has nothing to do with this race of the biggest economy. They just do their thing and everything else is just a bonus.

OKDnigeria:
The Federal Government has stated that the country would soon bounce back as the largest economy as been holding the position until South Africa displaced her.

Using the Gross Domestic Product at the end of 2015, published by the International Monetary Fund, the size of South Africa’s economy was $301bn, while Nigeria’s GDP was $296bn

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma, while speaking shortly after receiving the report of the three-day pre-summit workshop from the Infrastructure Public Private Partnership Summit Group, said the country would bounce back in no distant time.

Udoma called on Nigerians to stop bemoaning the lost glory but rather put all hands on deck to support the government in achieving economic development.

He said, “We are determined to turn this economy around and stimulate private sector investments. Losing our position as the biggest economy in Africa should in some way inspire us to work even harder. Sometimes when you are number two, you are actually more motivated to work hard and we should see it as something that should motivate all of us to work harder.”

I wonder how will they reverse the exchange rates to N170/$ when the dollar is already going somewhere to N360. The real GDP of Nigeria is about $232 billion because the parallel markets are the ones who are reflecting the true GDP size.

In South Africa is different, the currency is floating freely without it being restricted or pegged. Jonathan also lied to Nigerians by using all their FR to defend pegged currency just to overtake South Africa. However, it did not last because it exhausted foreign reserves and exerted more pressure as there was a huge gap vis-à-vis parallel market value of naira to the greenback. Buhari had to let free of the peg for the naira to float and reflect the real value of the GDP and when it was recalculated at the official FX it was found to be lower than that of SA. As it now stand, the gap is already widening because the value of naira is falling. SA experts predicted it to fall to N400/$ and might even push Nigeria to the third position.

Rapid Fire | Thursday, March 31, 2016
A weakeningRand, and a 10% defense budget cut may see the South African Air Force retire some of its current Gripen or Hawk jet aircraft . The defense cut coupled with the decrease in currency value has come as a double blow; affectingreplacement parts for military jets as they are paid in either dollars, or in the case of the British built Hawks, in pound sterling. SAAF efforts to cut down on costs have seen five Hawk jets scrapped for parts, three of which were grounded after accidents. Furthermore, of the 24 Hawks initially acquired, there are only seven qualified pilots, while of the 26 Gripens in use (half of which are in storage), there are only five qualified pilots to operate the aircraft.
