Saying a tribe owns a state in a country is funny and abstract reasoning. If I can live and buy land in lagos just like any Nigeria, then you cannot say a particular tribe owns it.

If saying yoruba owns lagos or igbo owns anambra, then a yoruba man from Benin republic have more right than an igbo man from Anambra.

Is like saying the white owns America. The white is the largest demographics and that doesnt make them the ownership. A white man from England doesnt have right in America more than a black man in America.


You said if Nigeria should split along tribal lines, until it does.... the land you are claiming belong to Nigeria State and all Nigerian. As far as any Nigerian can buy land or even rent, or live without any form of visa or pass... then you cannot claim the land... it sounds stupid and when i see young people arguing on it, its funny and dumb.

The land ownership being talked about in this context is about "control".

When you say Lagos is a "no man's land", they are not referring to the constitution, they are saying "no one has the control" over this land.

When an English man tells a Nigerian who is a British passport holder that - You can ONLY be a British, but you can NEVER be an English - What do you think they are talking about ?.

When an American tells you to your face to go to your country despite you being a US passport holder, what are they talking about ?.

By the virtue of their constitution, you are referred to as an American or British, but deep down, they do not really see you as part of them.

By your flawed logic, a Yoruba should aspire to become Sultan in Sokoto and Ibo should aspire to be Oba of Lagos since no tribe owns anywhere in Nigeria.

I repeat, Yoruba land belongs to the Yoruba people, just like Awka belongs to the Ibos and Gwari people own Abuja or you want to contest Aborigines do not OWN Australia?.

If other tribes covet Lagos State so much, they can also build something more magnificient that Lagos State in their regions.

Yorubas own Lagos State. Yorubas rule Lagos, collect taxes on it and determine how it is to be spent. Yorubas own the South West of the country. Lagos State is the heritage of all the Yorubas.

I ask again, if Nigeria should split along the tribal line, will the Ibo from Enugu refer to Lagos State as the capital or Northerners will lay claim to Lagos State. Will Yorubas claim Abuja, despite being the Capital of Nigeria from the Northerners or Yorubas will claim Owerri from Ibos?

Will Scottish people claim London, despite being the capital of UK, from English people or English people will claim Glasglow from the Scots, despite being in the UK together?

It's not prayer that makes them the western nations manage their debt culture, where you can walk into any shop and pick any item on debt. Nigerians want that too but they lack the system to track the regular debtors

The office should control people in power and not otherwise when there is a robust system in place. Nigeria lacks proper system and that's why the Governors, Presidents and the Citizens behave like they like.

Don't mind them...be deceiving themselves..people that love cheap labor and more over the hard cash their missions remit as visa fees, priority,super priority...no be small pounds the remit back home.

And to add to your point, the salary threshold required for COS ( and other job on the shortage list) is 20% lesser than the normal rate. Which means if a citizen is to be employed for the same job in the uK, he will earn 20% more than an immigrant. They are getting cheap labours and now it has come to blow up in their face.

I pity those who out their entire trust in the UK by selling their properties in Nigeria. It's now they will realize that Home Office is very stringent when it comes to document scrutiny. All those lies that never bothered about when you got your visas will be exposed. Earning salaries that are below the normal threshold as agreed will bite back too.

Very misleading title

They are taking action NOT because of Nigerian doctors who immigrated but rather because of general immigration which has spiraled out of country.

Immediately after Brexit, Conservative promised the citizens to reduce immigration but ended up doing the opposite. Next year is the election year, they know they are losing that election with a landslide.

If you are currently in the UK, holding any of these visas, you need to be extremely careful. They will stop people coming in and you can be sure Home Office will deal with those that have already immiigrated.

It has always been about the money for UK universities. Once you have the qualification and can pay, you are rest assured of your admission. However, do not get it wrong, the standard is quite high in terms of teaching and infrastructure. It is not the Uni's fault that students are hustling rather than being focused.

What they teach them at masters level can be compared to learning ABC. Meanwhile in the industry, you are asked to write essay.

Well, I never thought I'd japa any time soon from this country until recently.

The plan to japa was presented to me by my cousin, who will sponsor the entire thing but it has to be an affordable university < €10,000 for fees

Now, I have been trying to get Information on where one can go study for cheaps in Europe with less stringent visa application process.

Most the information/thread on Nairaland are either old or abandoned.

Please, I'd appreciate any information, especially from those who recently travelled or are in the process of travelling.

And looking to do a Master's in Data Science/Analytics

Most of these Schools abroad are scams. They do not teach the students to be ready for the industry.

I was checking the curriculum for one school in the UK and was shocked that they were still teaching a technology already retired by Microsoft.

As odd as it may sound, why don't you pay for all these online courses, study hard, within few months, you would have upskilled in specific area, more than you would achieve in these universities. Even save lot of money in the process.

Ask most of the students that graduated from the UK Universities this September, most cannot compete globally as they only wasted millions of naira to enter into the complex, expensive route leading to citizenship, and NOT learning or gaining anything in the process. They outsourced their assignments to other people in Nigeria, and this explains why most are doing care jobs despite graduating as so-called techies. If assessment is based on exam, most will not even graduate, but lucky them, it is mostly assignments.

They can never be employed in tech. They are so much aware of that.

After upskilling, post your CV online, especially linkedln and start having interviews. You will enter into these countries tech market as a talent, rather than a long, endless, expensive chase for a citizenship.

We are tired of this GWR.

I have a stepsister living abroad, the daughter of my mom. She's been there since childhood, raised by her father, and has become independent.

Despite the physical distance, she has been supportive, particularly to my mom. Although she occasionally sends money to my mom, it's never quite enough for her.

I share a unique bond with her; we've always been close, even during her visit. The last time she sent me money was during my 100 level when things were tough. However, my focus shifted from financial help to maintaining a connection with her.

Recently, I noticed a change. Since July, she has been snubbing my messages, a puzzling behavior considering I don't seek financial assistance. I've made it a point to check on her regularly, something she mentioned our mom doesn't do. At my level now if she needs money I can even send for her but her recent attitude has totally changed my mind towards her. I'm contemplating blocking her and ending contact, as it seems that's what she wants.

It's a challenging situation, and I'm curious if anyone here has experienced anything similar.

She might be experiencing tough life challenges and prefers to be left alone for now.
