He`s arrogant because he doesn`t asslick the likes of Ikpeba right? When it comes to arrogance which Nigerian player was and is as arrogant and proud as Obi Mikel? No wonder Nigeria can`t make progress because of mentalities like this. A typical Nigerian never supports pple that aren`t from their tribe. They prefer to support another country so far the man that`s not frm their tribe doesn`t win.
Once people dont see things from your way, you turn tribal
Cure yourselves from this ailment.

My most respected player in the history of Super Eagle is Okocha. I am a Yoruba and he is Ibo.

I have Segun Odegbami, who is a Yoruba, a terrific player, and I will still rate him behind Okocha.

All arguments must not end with tribalism. Reason up

I was not comparing Oshimen to anyone. I dont know why you had to drag Mikel into it.

It was my view of him, respect it and move on.

Well, the guy tries his best tor the SE, always fighting, but the entire team lets him down, remember he is a striker who needs good deliveries to do his thing. And again, the voting process can easily be tampered with.
The voting system is transparent.

They will eventually reveal who votes for who.

Oshimen comes across as being very arrogant - that is my perspective.

Maradona carried the weak argentina team. Okocha was so unique the way he played during his days. I could not say anything major about Oshimen

If Morocco is hosting it will be a shocker for Osimhen to win. North Africans hate losing anything football on home soil. I really wany Victor to win it, but I see Hakimi unreservedly winning it.
Morocco does not determine the winner.

There is a voting process.

My own is that I have not seen significant thing done by Oshimen for Super Eagle.

I careless who wins it

Why won't he?

The system creates irrelevant offices for lot of individuals, doing nothing, adding no values but to be milking our scarce resources.

This cuts across all regions. Look at the kings, marrying lot of wives and still living in opulence. if they are not feeding on our Commonwealth, can they live that kind of life?

Never take the rantings of an Agbadorian to heart. This is someone who laments that the British don't offer similar economic/education-related opportunities to blacks, even those born and bred in the UK. That is probably why he returned to Nigeria after attaining British nationality. So, why does he suddenly expect Chileans to accept a black man? When do migrants claim to be accepted by the natives as the basis for their migration? The Nigerians who fled the country to the UK, do they expect the Brits to accept them?

What more? Tensa20 would be told to "go back to Anambra" by people who look like him in his country! These are the same people who inhale generator fumes as oxygen like him and experience poor infrastructure as he does. So, which is worse, residing with poor tribalists in a privation-choked land or living with wealthy racists in a prosperous land?

It is not like Nigeria is better off than Chile by any metric. If Tensa20 was a black South African, one can understand his bitterness for the lad's decision. This is the issue with certain 40 year olds who believe they know everything. Just as they went to vote for an incompetent feudalist so that he would fight kwarruption!

You know it's expensive to travel to those places? And since tensa is young, he has enough years with him to work hard and strive in that land and he's even a digital nomad, he doesn't need to apply for jobs in that place, all he needs to do is acquire more digital skills, apply for remote jobs and earn, something that's not all feasible in Nigeria.

There are so many opportunities for him over there that an average Nigerian can never have.
Everything you described here is achievable in Nigeria.

If only every civil servant and traders have access to these types of loan facilities by the government (and not cooperatives) that allows one to buy a house and make payments on installments, the middle and lower class would be in a better place.
Much of the homelessness in the country would have been solved
Yes I agree with you but africans lack robust system to manage it.

They owe it to the bank via credit card and mortgages, and NOT to the government.

Western worlds have developed a robust process, driven by cutting edge technologies to manage their debt portfolio. Credit rating agency will show lenders if you are credit worthy, by so doing, you always wish to pay your debt.

The whites are no way as rich as people assume. It is the system that makes them to APPEAR rich.

How many whites control thousands of dollars ?.

Majority actually live from paycheck to paycheck. If salary is not paid in a month, they will go wild and attack the government infrastructure.
TravelWhy Do Nigerians Think The Whites Are Richer compared to them? by MT(op):
I have read countless submissions from Nairaland and I am always shocked how westerners especially are perceived as very wealthy.

This reflects in the way they are treated when they visit our continent. Most Nigerians are subservient to them, thinking that the whites are quite rich. The whites get the feedback and they look down on africans as the sons and daughters of their former slaves.

You will see a Nigeria graduate having an illiterate white as friends, and still feel so privileged to have them as friends. Taking pictures and posting on social media showing the world that he now has white friends; the whites that ought to be under him in levels.

This also informs the japa when majority feel that once they get visa, they are going into very "rich" land where their hopes will be realised.

Like I have written countless times, it is all an "illusion". It is a culture of debt. Westerners hardly pay fully for anything. They owe their lives to the banks and they must repay by installment at the end of every month.

Why don't africans realise that most whites save for years before they can embark on any trip anywhere? Lot of people outrightly own their houses in Nigeria, while the whites are paying mortgage at the end of each month. Tell me where is the real wealth?

I am not talking about state of the country, I am addressing some people mindsets as Africans.

Is it inferiority complex or lack of exposure that is troubling Nigerians or result of too much Hollywood movie?

Can this perspective change with time?

You are right regarding freedom to travel but that is just part of the story.

Lot of people have this passport but cannot even afford to buy ticket.

Powerful passport feeds no one, it is the value that you possess that will make life better. Sadly, a lizard in Nigeria does not turn crocodile abroad. A lizard will always be a lizard.

Even if you are stuck anywhere in the world, western govt will contact your people over there for flight money. They wont pay for you. In case of emergency, they will BORROW you money which you MUST pay back once you are back into the country.

Read between the lines bro.
For me, I even want people to japa.
It is good for them.
Many people are here in Nigeria lazying around and will immediately buckle their belts when they travel abroad when they know if they don't work, they will die of hunger because no one to look their face.
Also, there is no point seeing someone struggling here regularly asking you for money when he can stay by himself abroad and also contribute his quota to the family development.
It is better my brother japa and find something doing for himself so that I can always have someone to call for contribution for family event. Not just only me bearing the full loads.
Also, life is rub my back I rub your back.
It is better to have more friends and family you can always call for help during emergency than none and they can always call you for financial assistance too pending when you pay back.
What I just don't like in all these is the mentality of the average typical black man.
Most japa crew deep down never pray for Nigeria to work.
The more bad news they here, the better they feel for taking the decision of traveling out.
I guess it is a consolation to them for the hard life they re facing over there.
Many always pray for naira to devalue more so that they can always have that hedge against the ones at home but then, the sky is big enough for every bird to fly.
Why will you be wishing and praying to succeed in the new country you are going while hoping the ones you left behind never succeed too? No be witch be that?
What is the joy you derive seeing people you left behind struggling? So as to be mocking them? Because we all know it is not as if you will help them financially so why hoping they don't succeed? Yet you want to succeed.
It is crazy continent with a pull him down syndrome.
I wish I could like your post a million times over. You are apt and wise.

At the bolded:

1. You are correct regarding the family event thing. I have activated that since. Now everyone dey contribute. Some grumble and I would be like - I have been doing that for years, it is your turn to contribute too afterall you are earning in hard currency now.

2. They are simply ignorant. If naira devalues, it does not pay anyone. That money in their naira account automatically devalues and they will buy items , eg building materials, at exorbitant rate too

2. You only tell us about the income, what about the expenditure? Why silent on that one?

3. Your life can end at anywhere . Knife in UK, gun in the US.

While i respect your decision to relocate, being abroad is not like being in a paradise, like you painted it. They have enormous challenges they face. If it is as golden as you think, you wont see any whites living in Africa. All their graduates are not employed, some are even under employed. Some are homeless. What you see is a bubble - a debt culture. When you stay in the system for a while, reality will hit you like a thunderbolt. Even the whites are looking for where to japa to.

Some embassy staffers and expatriates do not even want to leave Nigeria because they are living their dreams here.
