Pedagogue: Well-tempered words.
You studied in "another government university". Does it have a name? I expressly mentioned OAU cos I'm forever proud of dt great citadel.
You see, OAU is not just another govt university!
My grouse is with a 'funny' comment that Covenant is better than OAU! It is laughable. There's, for now, no basis for comparison. My job spec makes it impossible for me not to understand d standard of our uni's. Although no Nigerian Uni deserves any special commendation, there are 3 or 4 Uni's that still churn out good grads.
I'm still waiting for that boy's reply.
Hey Pedagogue, I'm usually impressed by your posts and factual analysis of events. Can I know those 3 to 4 unis? Thanks. God willing, if my children are to school in Nigerian unis, it's either Ife, UI, Unilag at best. |

Hmmm. Again, I have my take on that but I'd leave my answer to another time.
Once more, those are exceptions and they come far and in between. For this Kano guy, there are more than 20 southerners that achieve similar or greater feats this year alone. Moreover, Cyprus is not so strong an academic nation. Which Cyprus university is in the top 100 in the world?
I'm presently in the north and I was opportuned to invigilate "Introduction to Nuclear Physics" test at Kaduna State University for final year students (400 level). Despite that I could have easily solved the questions in my year 1, the students were all out to cheat because they had nothing upstairs. This shows you the wide gulf between north and south.
How many CEOs of multinationals and top companies are from the north? North has a long way to go if it's to meet the south |

At every slight opportunity, Jelani, Jelani, Jelani. It's almost every other week you hear of Yorubas and those of the Eastern extraction making groundbreaking feats. Jelani is an old news but Deji Akinwande was awarded the highest US presidential research this week. We agree, Jelani is good. He designed only a car - Chevrolet Volt. What of those that designed the thousands of other cars including Bugattis, Rolls Royce, Camry and thousand others? Please, Jelani is the exception rather than the rule for northerners and even at that, what's his connection to Nigeria again? When last did he visit the country? Does Nigeria derive any benefit from him? How many northerners are captains of industry? The north is a disaster waiting to happen if things continue this way. Boko Haram, Maitsasine and the other riots are a pointer to the inglorious living there. I have nothing against the north. It's only a wake up call for the whole Nigeria to develop evenly so less beggars, shoe shiners, destitutes and other dregs of the society should come less from a particular region. |

I'm impressed by your deeds and highly awed by your diction though sadly, you're one of the few exceptions of modern day Nigerian youths. I'm challenged! Kudos to you for a job well done. sbabimbola: Good morning,
My service year experience.
The desire to help people around me had being in me since my secondary school days, then we were asked to write an essay one 'My future ambition', I wrote that I wanted to become a Philanthropist ( I took a clue from a Northern Alhaji who helped the needy). My teacher didn't score me, only checked my M.A, sentence structure, corrected my grammatical errors........... She was probably expecting to see me write Lawyer, Doctor, Engineer, etc like the rest did (I was in SS1, Science Class).
I was sad that she didn't understood me, but glad she didn't mark me wrong.
So I began to help people one at a time, ranging from kind words to sacrificing my lunch......
University days still, I continued...... though my finger got burnt severally.....
The first thing I did during my service year was to take up the call to resume at a rural camp with no good road network, electricity, nor GSM network (MTN came the month I concluded my service....... thanks to them)., despite being the only corps member posted there (a female for that matter).
When the State Coordinator and my L.G.I knew this, they wanted to relocate me but I said no........ (Why?)
Getting to the school I was posted ( the only school in the community), the student rally round me as if I was a President, some were shouting Corper while others were shouting OLOPA(police)............
I could no longer request for rejection letter, which my boss was willing to give because of my gender........
Instead I asked for my accommodation......
I cultivated over 1 hectare of cassava plantation, proceeds from which was for the argumentation of school fees of children of the displaced people from Northern Nigeria who came to the community.......
I constructed animal husbandry section for the school.
sensitised the community members about Ebola, Tetanus, and Breast cancer....
trained students on production of Liquid soap, Izal disinfectant, and 3 months fashion designing........
I donated bottled liquid soaps to community members to mark hand washing day
donated disinfectant and bed spreads to the Local health center.
constructed a bus stop for the community....
all these above are among about 21 documented projects I did......
some of the undocumented ones are below
I sowed father Christmas costume for the school Free of Charge
Took the children on excursion to the state capital's Radio Station to participate on a program for students......( these children's smiles and joy I WILL NEVER FORGET)
I had the best service experience...........
Thanks for making me recall them...
My best is yet to come......
I STILL WANT TO BECOME A PHILANTHROPIST!
HAPPY SUNDAY.
I left out names of places and locations on purpose....... you know SOCIAL MEDIA PALAVA..... LOL |

I wasn't taught as well, perhaps, I need not be taught.
The point is, employers don't care if you're taught or not. They expect you to have a good idea about what you studied and anything that relates to it.
And lastly, the question of blue screen is not the core of Computer Engineering. You must think repairing and fixing computers is what it means to be a Computer Engineer. Can you re explain this your final paragraph? ThanksI cc rationalmind |
