Politics / Mob Sets 2 Robbers Ablaze In Anambra by MuguliciousMUGU: 1:45am On Jun 23, 2015
ONITSHA—Barely two weeks after a mob set ablaze two armed robbers at New Tyres Market, Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, for snatching huge sums of money from a trader, two other armed robbers were, yesterday, burnt to ashes along Limca Road in the same area.
The two robbers, armed with pistols, according to eyewitnesses, had blocked a lady, who boarded a commercial motorcycle with aGhana-must-gobag filled with money and heading towards a bank, and allegedly snatched the bag from her.
According to the source, as the lady, believed to be a cashier in one of the petrol stations along the road, was being taken to the bank by the commercial motorcyclist, the armed robbers, riding their own motorcycle, closed in on them and ordered her to surrender the bag of money at gunpoint.
The source said she surrendered the bag to them, but as the thieves made to zoom off, their motorcycle somersaulted.
Mob action
It was gathered that some passers-by alerted policemen and went after them. Bullets reportedly did not penetrate their bodies. They were, however, over-powered by the mob and set ablaze.
It was learned that one of the robbers removed the burning tyre from his neck and fled with his body on fire.
He was, however, caught again by the mob, who tied his hands and legs, pushed him into a drainage with his accomplice and set them ablaze a second time.
Vehicular movements were disrupted along the road for many hours, even as some members of Anambra Traffic Management Agency, ATMA, were busy trying to control the traffic.
The Divisional Police Officer at Ogidi, Mr. Hassan Musa, told newsmen on phone that although he heard about the incident, the scene was under the jurisdiction of Awada Police Division.
He, however, described their death as two less the number of criminals operating in the state.
“If the public could always rise like this to defend themselves from the menace of the robbers, Anambra would then become a crime-free state, as desired by the state government and law-abiding citizens,” he said.

Politics / Ambode Declares Second Lekki-epe Expressway Toll-free by MuguliciousMUGU: 1:18am On Jun 22, 2015

The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has assured residents that tolls will not be collected at the second toll point on the Lekki- Epe Expressway.

Ambode made the remark at an interactive session with journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Lagos House, Ikeja, a statement said on Sunday.

The governor, in the statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Habib Aruna, said his concern was ensuring the completion of the road.

He said, “We must start thinking of the future concerning that road. We said we will have an International Airport in Epe, and an Export Processing Zone in Lekki and a Deep Seaport also in Lekki.

“Should we not start thinking about how we will improve and create a 10-lane road between Ikorodu, Itoikin, Epe and Ijebu Ode so that people can go out from there? There is no point constructing the road, paying tolls and in five years’ time, the road is gone.”

The governor said once the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, which was being expanded into 10-lane, was completed, the community would be opened up for business activities.

He added that his administration would make careful efforts to grow the tourism potential of the state.

He said, “As more means of transportation come on board, the more than 600,000 private car owners and 120,000 motorcycles that are being put on the road in the state on a daily basis will reduce in number.”

He said his administration had decided to scale up governance by rearranging the civil service through the realignment of some ministries and agencies, while creating a new Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment.

Ambode said, “We have said this is a government of continuity, but it is continuity with improvement. It is about making life easier for the people. We are receptive to new ideas and that is why we are going to be creative, innovative and thinking out of the box.”

Politics / Re: Senate: Saraki, Lawan Groups’ Rift Deepens by MuguliciousMUGU: 1:11am On Jun 22, 2015
“It is not correct to say that the election of Ekweremadu was part of a design to make President Buhari’s administration to fail. Rather, the Saraki leadership in the Senate would ensure the success of President Buhari’s programmes and policies and he had started work on it already.”

Meanwhile, there were insinuations on Sunday that Buhari was angry with Saraki over Ekweremadu’s emergence as his deputy.

“Buhari has not spoken with Saraki since the incident happened on June 9 and he had rebuffed all attempts to contact him. Don’t forget that the senate president also had issues with the Vice – President, Yemi Osinbajo, for using a derogatory language on him”

But Ibrahim denied the insinuations, which he described it as a rumour.
He said, “It is not correct to say that the President was avoiding Saraki. The senate president flew to Ilorin on Friday with the presidential jet. If Buhari is angry with him, will he release the jet in the Presidential fleet?

“There is no crisis between the President and the senate president. As a matter of fact, Senator Saraki has since settled down and has started working.”
In the House of Representatives, there were indications that the former Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, will keep the same post in the House.

The APC is insisting that Gbajabiamila, the party’s choice for the House speakership but who lost to Yakubu Dogara, should be made the Majority Leader,The PUNCHlearnt in Abuja.
The House will resume sitting on Tuesday (tomorrow) after members took a two-week recess after inauguration on June 9.

The party also reportedly gave the South-South the position of Deputy House Leader.
Findings indicated that the national leadership of the party took the decisions at its meeting held in Abuja last week.
Checks by our correspondents revealed that a move by the APC to anoint Gbajabiamila as the Majority Leader of the House a few days after he lost the speakership contest was opposed by North-West lawmakers.

The zone had already positioned a lawmaker from Kano State, Mr. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, for the position.
“Besides the opposition from the North-West members, there was also the feeling within the Dogara camp that having Gbajabiamia as the Majority Leader could place the speaker under much pressure.

“But, we have gone beyond that stage now. The party has taken a decision that Gbajabiamila should be the majority leader. It has also been decided that Mr. Pally Iriase should be the deputy House leader,” a National Assembly official told one of our correspondents on Sunday.

Iriase, an APC lawmaker from Edo State, had also made a bid for the speakership, but later dropped out of the race to support Gbajabiamila.
A second source claimed that it was Ado-Doguwa and not Iriase that the party agreed to be Gbajabiamila’s deputy.

“That is exactly what the party is proposing (Gbajabiamila/Ado-Doguwa); all things being equal.
“I guess by Thursday, Friday this week, everything would have been spelt out,” the second source stated.

However, the National Working Committee of the APC has been scheduled to meet in Abuja on Monday (today) to, among others, deliberate on peace proposals aimed at bringing an end to the crisis rocking the party.

Politics / Senate: Saraki, Lawan Groups’ Rift Deepens by MuguliciousMUGU: 1:10am On Jun 22, 2015
The crisis within the ruling All Progressives Congress took a new turn on Sunday with the Senator Ahmad Lawan group in the Senate accusing the Bukola Saraki group of plotting to make President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration fail.

“The election of a Peoples Democratic Party senator as deputy senate president is evidently a grand conspiracy to sabotage the Buhari government,” spokesperson for the pro – Lawan group, Senator Kabiru Marafa, said in an interview with one of our correspondents in Abuja.

Marafa argued that the inauguration of the 8th Senate and subsequent election of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, with 57 senators in attendance was an indication that the perpetrators of the act actively involved the management of the federal parliament.

While the APC had endorsed Lawan as its candidate for the senate presidency, Saraki defied the party and manoeuvred his way to clinch the post.
The senate president had teamed up with senators of his former party, the PDP, to assume power in an alliance that saw Ike Ekweremadu of the PDP becoming the deputy senate president.

Ekweremadu had defeated Ali Ndume of the APC by 54 votes to 22 votes.
Lawan loyalists in the Senate, under the Senate Unity Forum, said on Sunday that the election of Ekweremadu was a grand conspiracy to sabotage Buhari’s administration through the legislature. The Saraki supporters style themselves Like Minds Senators.

Both Lawan and Saraki groups had on Friday disagreed on how the principal officers of the Senate should be chosen.
While the Lawan group aligned with the position of the APC leaders that the party should choose the officers, the Saraki group insisted that the Senate officers should be picked at zonal levels.

The spokesman for the Lawan group also demanded the prosecution of the National Assembly Management for allegedly contributing to the plot.
Marafa said, “We are convinced that there is a general conspiracy in this country to sabotage the APC government, particularly the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. For God sake, why should Senator Bukola Saraki be declared as senate president with 57 votes while 51 other senators were disenfranchised.

“The management of the National Assembly knew that 109 Senators were being expected on the day of inauguration. Why did they not wait for the others to arrive before rushing to conduct election?”
Marafa argued that no opposition senator made any attempt to seek election into the majority position when the PDP had the majority in the senate in 2011, asking, “Why should somebody do it now? Is it because Muhammadu Buhari from the North is the President?”

He added, “People are asking why we did not go to court to challenge Ekweremadu’s election. Why should we bother ourselves to go to court when there is already a grand conspiracy to frustrate all our moves?

“The conspirators had hijacked the media and are using them to complicate issues even in the court of public opinion. Why should we go to court?
“The Senate standing rule that was reviewed overnight is another pointer to the fact that the inauguration of the Senate on June 9 and the election of Saraki/Ekweremadu was part of the planned conspiracy.

“That is a criminal conspiracy. Our standing rules were changed. Who changed them? Why were they changed? For what purpose and who ordered the change? Who brought ballot boxes inside the chamber on June 9?

“Those who brought in the ballot boxes were obviously privy to the grand conspiracy. The rule of division was adopted in 2011 when David Mark contested election. People’s names were being called and each person would stand up and say who they want to vote for.

“But on June 9, boxes were brought into the chamber. Who brought them? Who changed our rule? President Buhari should prosecute the perpetrators of the criminal act because that was corruption”

However, a member of the Like Minds Senators, Rafiu Ibrahim,on Sunday denied allegations of conspiracy against the government of President Buhari with the election of Ekweremadu.

He said, “We (Pro- Saraki group) campaigned across the party lines because some APC senators already had their candidate.
“However, when members of the Senate Unity Forum were not around in the chamber to vote, the PDP seized the opportunity to contest and Ekweremadu, being a two-term senate president, used his goodwill among the senators to score 54 votes across the APC and the PDP.

“There was no case of conspiracy; there was no form of pact. In fact members of the Senate Unity Forum should be held responsible for the emergence of Ekweremadu as deputy senate president.
“If they had not absconded on the day of inauguration, an APC senator would have emerged just like what happened in the House of Representatives.

Politics / Nigeria Will Continue Use Of Card Readers – Jega by MuguliciousMUGU: 1:23am On Jun 21, 2015
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Professor Attahiru Jega has said the electoral body will continue to make use of the smart card reader when conducting elections in the country.

Jega said this on Saturday yesterday at the Wheatbaker Hotel, in Ikoyi, Lagos State where he was hosted to an evening with 100 young leaders byEbonyLife TV.

According to Jega, there is no doubt that the introduction of the smart card reader technology into Nigeria’s electoral process contributed greatly to the success of the 2015 general elections.
Jega, who fielded questions from a select pool of leading young professionals from various occupational sectors and socio-economic backgrounds, was also honoured as a “Champion of our Collective Aspiration for Free, Fair and Violent-free Elections” at the event.

Explaining the motive behind the event, Executive Chairman and CEO ofEbonyLife TV, Mo Abudu, said “It is important for young Nigerians to ask questions; the Nigerian youth were a big part of the last general elections. We wanted Nigeria’s future leaders to grasp not only the importance of the elections and its ramifications for the country, but to begin to build upon it by truly understanding the legacy left by Professor Jega.”

The INEC chief while explaining his conviction about the card reader described it as a potent tool in the war against electoral malpractices, adding that the card readers had come to stay as the commission had no reason whatsoever to discontinue its use for elections in the country.

He also admitted that there is need for the INEC to examine areas of improving the effectiveness of the technology as it strives to retain its use.
Jega also urged young professionals in Nigeria to give the nation their best whenever and wherever they have the opportunity of contributing to the growth and development of the country, regardless of the current uncertainties pervading the country.

Politics / Buhari’s Wife Relocates To Aso Rock Ahead Of Husband by MuguliciousMUGU: 1:47am On Jun 20, 2015

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has relocated to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, barely three weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was inaugurated.

Since they were inaugurated, Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo have been operating from outside the Presidential Villa.

This is despite the fact that both men have their official residences and offices inside the Villa.

Both of them have been operating from their private residences as well as the Defence House, official residence of the President-elect located at Maitama District, Abuja.

Our correspondent gathered that Mrs. Buhari formally relocated to the Presidential Villa on Thursday at a time when her husband was out of Abuja.

“Hajia (Buhari) arrived here (Presidential Villa) with her entourage at about 6pm on Thursday. She had relocated ahead of her husband. She passed the night here,” a Presidency official told our correspondent on Friday.

As of the time our correspondent visited the First Lady’s Wing of the Presidential Villa on Friday, some exotic cars were seen parked in front of the premises, an indication that Mrs. Buhari was playing host to some guests.

Another Presidency official told our correspondent that the President is expected to join his wife inside the Presidential Villa on arrival from his local trip.

Buhari had departed Abuja for Kaduna on Tuesday shortly after he arrived from South Africa where he took part in the just-concluded 25th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

He proceeded from Kaduna to his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.

Buhari is expected back in Abuja from the journey described as “private trips” this weekend.

“The President is expected back this weekend. He will be expected to join his wife here on his arrival,” the source added.

Upon his formal relocation to the Presidential Villa, Buhari is expected to operate for the first time from his office on Monday.

As of the time of filing this report, Osinbajo and his wife have yet to relocate to the Villa.

It was not clear whether they will move in at the same time with Buhari.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, had told our correspondent that ongoing renovation work was hindering Buhari from moving into the Presidential Villa.

He had said, “As far as the President is concerned, the place (his official residence) is not ready yet. Workers are cleaning and refurbishing the place. Once the exercise is completed, the President will move in.”

Donald Bricker served his prison term and was released into the populace where he met Mariam and they began dating. It wasn’t immediately clear what went wrong in the relationship. It lasted six months. Mariam decided the relationship wasn’t what she wanted. She stopped seeing Donald. But Donald had been captivated by her young love. He became obsessed and stalked Mariam. He wanted her back. He called her several times and pleaded with her to take him back. But Mariam was moving forward with her life. Donald kept up the pressure.

Last week, Donald pleaded with Mariam to meet him at the parking lot of a Germantown Target store. Mariam agreed to meet her ex to resolve any issue from their past relationship after he threatened to kill himself if she didn’t meet to talk with him. She offered to meet if that would save his life. But Donald came to the meeting with a loaded gun.

Minutes after Mariam arrived at the parking lot; Donald arrived and asked Mariam to join him in his car. She did. Suddenly passersby began to notice a scuffle inside Donald’s vehicle between the two. Mariam then got out of his car and walked away. Donald chased her with his gun and shot her as she walked away from him. He fled the scene as Mariam fell to the floor of the parking lot.

Donald Bricker was ultimately arrested after crashing his vehicle. He is being charged with first degree murder, police said. Donald Bricker has a criminal history in Maryland and is on the state’s sex offender registry. Mariam Shade Adebayo recently got a new job. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Crime / PHOTO- Mariam Adebayo, Latest Nigerian Killed By American Lover by MuguliciousMUGU: 1:40am On Jun 20, 2015

Every minute, nearly 24 women are victims of rape; domestic violence by their lovers or intimate partners in the United States. More than 12million women have been physically abused, assaulted or killed by domestic violence. Women, between ages 18 and 35, experience all forms of abuses from their intimate partners.

The World Health Organisation reports that each year, 35 per cent of women globally, are sexually and physically assaulted by their loved ones.

The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, in recent findings on domestic violence in America, concluded that one in five women had been slapped, kicked, beaten, raped and assaulted in their lifetime.
Behavioural scientists researched and opined that domestic violence begins when a partner has the urge to emotionally control and dominate his or her partner in an intimate relationship, as a result of low self-esteem and extreme jealousy.

“This domination then takes the form of emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Studies suggest that violent behaviour often is caused by an interaction of situational and individual factors. That means that abusers learn violent behaviour from their family, people in their community and other cultural influences as they grow up. They may have seen violence often or they may have been victims themselves,” says Toby G Goldsmith.

On October 5th 2003, Victor Chukwunka Achonu, then 53, brutally and savagely sliced his then wife, Ebele Achonu in Raleigh North Carolina. The crime of passion was fuelled by accusations of marital infidelity. Achonu suspected his 33-year-old wife was cheating on him with another man. That Sunday morning, the police reported that Achonu assaulted his wife with a machete after an argument, and then inflicted serious injuries on her. He allegedly came from behind and attacked her while she was on the phone, complaining to a relative in Nigeria that she was no longer happy in her marriage to Victor. Victor hit her with a severe blow that knocked her out. He then viciously began to slice her with the machete. The injuries she suffered included, compressed rear skull fracture, amputated right hand and laceration to her left shoulder. Ebele fell in a pool of her own blood; Victor fled the house into a nearby bush. He was captured later that day after an intensive manhunt by the Raleigh Police.

One year later, he was sentenced in 2004, to nearly 20 years in prison for attempted first degree murder. It’s been almost eleven years since the incident. Ebele has remarried and quietly lives in the same city where her life nearly ended. Victor Achonu continues to serve prison term. He is due to be released in 2019, at about 70 years. Ebele Achonu politely declined request for interview with regards to the sad part of her life: “No, thank you Azuka” was her response to a text message requesting a chat with her. She carries an everlasting reminder and charred scar of her violent past in the hands of her ex-husband; she lost one arm to the marriage.

The circles of domestic violence towards women are as old as the American pie. In most cases, domestic violence had led to death of women in the hands of the ones that once professed love to them. The recent case of a young Nigerian girl killed by her ex-boyfriend is a reminder of how vicious domestic violence has rooted in America’s lifestyle.

Mariam Folashade Adebayo was a charming dark and lovely young girl with a bright future. Two years ago, she graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Public Health. After her graduation, she began to chase the beautiful dreams of a great life ahead of her, living the life of an unblemished normal young beautiful girl in the city. Mariam met Donald Bricker, a 27-year-old white crook. He charmed Mariam and something in both of them stirred. Donald had a criminal background. He was a third degree sex offender, convicted in 2009. He hid his past from young, innocent Mariam.

In Maryland, sexual offence in the Third Degree is detailed in the status thus: (a) A person may not: (1) (i) engage in sexual contact with another without the consent of the other; and (ii) 1. Employ or display a dangerous weapon, or a physical object that the victim reasonably believes is a dangerous weapon; 2. Suffocate, strangle, disfigure, or inflict serious physical injury on the victim or another in the course of committing the crime; (3) Threaten, or place the victim in fear, that the victim, or an individual known to the victim, imminently will be subject to death, suffocation, strangulation, disfigurement, serious physical injury, or kidnapping; or (4) commit the crime while aided and abetted by another; (2) engage in sexual contact with another if the victim is a mentally defective individual, a mentally incapacitated individual, or a physically helpless individual,

Are you sure he is the one that wrote the speech, or it is another person, because he did not mention president mitchell of west germany for her help, and i hope that he knows that mandela is gone, and that he did not say that nigeria would help south africa to fight apartheid and gain her independence.
Because
It would have been wonderful.

West germany? Buhari must really be a comediancheesy
