Against a Uganda team he’ll thrive trust me

He can boss the midfield and hold his own

But his man to man marking that’s his problem he’s not dirty enough
Sometimes it not just important for a player to start. Who the player is paired with matters.

I have a question
Is Lookman a complete player ?
The only hole I see in his game is that he could sometimes be selfish
He tracks back really well (he does this much better than Ejuke grin) & helps the defense
He’s also lethal going forward
I just think if he can be selfless as Osimhen & Adams for the team sake, he’d be super complete
This was my take before the AFCON
Boy is lethal in this AFCON though

I don’t think Osimhen is really concerned about highest goal scorer if you look at his selfless assist, their main target is the trophy
Adams & Iwobi are playing super vital roles for the team too
Adams was not happy with that lookman's third goal. He was even complaining. Iwobi had to jump on him to get him going.

We have advocated long and hard that instead of playing Iwobi from deep in the midfield, he should be plugged in to play close to the attackers so he can give defense splitting passes. And in the last match, that was precisely what was done and we saw how good he was.

Maybe just as Peseiro deployed the 3-5-2 formation after our first two matches at the last Afcon and it took us all the way, Chelle should also stay with this formation and it allows our attacking strength to find expression with compromising our defensive solidity in the midfield where Frank the Tank reigns supreme.

This 4-2-1-1-2 or 4-3-1-2 formation is good for us considering that we are soft at the back.

Lookman has a signature move. Once he drops his shoulders and does that leg over to his left foot, oya bye bye

Iwobi has been contributing defensively too. Let's not make like he is not doing any defensively. He presses a lot. Maybe people think he is not defending well because he is not very difficult to dribble unlike other midfielders like Onyeka and Ndidi but he makes up for that with pressing, zonal/positional marking, and ball inceptions.
People who make intelligent passes in football are usually easily dribbled and winning duels. E.g. people say Barcelona has a weak defense because you can easily dribble past their players who on the other hand are very good with tiki-taka football when in possession of the ball.
Let's cut Iwobi some slack please. This is the person that initiates and dictate play in from deep and makes it to the final third to deliver passes. He is always full of running on the pitch reason why he gets tired towards the end of some games. Now is not the time talk bad about Iwobi at all.
Defending from Iwobi na jara. Let him do his primary duty well.

Chelle should rest our first XI.Let the second XI start the game.

5 players from the first XI can still come from the bench, after the hour mark.

Please we should rest Ndidi to avoid fatigue, he is already 29.

We need him fresh and rejuvenated for our R16 clash.
Ndidi should be rested. Osimhen too.

Egypt using their second team against Angola. I hope Nigeria follows suit. What ruined us in the last AFCON was over reliance on the same players till the dying second.
It ruined us indeed. We had players who were exhausted and players who had had no game time at all.

Not related to my above post, but who has noticed that only Iwobi in our squad knows how to calculate Osimhen's run and give him a pass when he's not offside?

The thing no hard, Osimhen has mad level of both acceleration and speed, he's one of the fastest center forwards in the world, if not the fastest. Watch Iwobi's through-passes to him, he let the defend be ahead of Osimhen a little, let Osimhen turn to start his run, then he releases the ball past the side of the defender for Osimhen to run up to it and twice in this AFCON, it has been perfect. None of those defenders fast reach Osimhen, but other players will wait for Osimhen to start running and before they pass the ball, he has marginally or even by a mile run into an offside position.
That Iwobi pass too wickedt. Yes wickedt with a T.

You will see improvement on the side of the coaches and players in the next match.
Very popular bro. 😂😂😂😜😜Rumor has it that it was from this thread that Finidi got his line up and soaked up tiki taka football philosophy from one of the veterans of this thread. Whether it was his improper digestion of the philosophy or the philosophy itself that led him astray, I cannot say but the rest as they say is history. That misadventure cost us world cup qualification.

Truth is both fullbacks actually tried yesterday and yes Bright, aside the controversial penalty call, especially showed improvement yesterday although he did struggle a bit against Tounekti who came on. This, I believe, was part reason for the introduction of Ejuke to help out on the right channel.

Bright was key to our possession-transition plays on the right channel and provided more final third penetration. Bruno on the other hand won more duels, made more tackles and provided crosses.

As non-rated as both were before the game, they actually delivered solid showings for the most parts.
Another problem with those guys is that they are not consistent. Can we count on them to put up such decent performances in the next engagement?

See they are players who transmit panic. Even when they are playing well, you are like heyyy Hmmm abeg oo. Osayi is that kind of player. You know no matter how good he plays, a slip, a rash tackle, a hand in the air is not far away.

Then they are players like Benjamin, smooth, calm and confident. Even if he makes an error, your mind go still dey.

So sometimes it's not the play, it's the vibes.

I don't think it was like that o. Osimhen wasn't necessarily open as Ejuke was ahead of Victor and there's a strong chance a pass could have been cut off. Also that chance was similar to the one he scored against Gabon.
Okay as per comments I've been reading online.
