After two matches, you can't conclude. He didn't even lose any of the matches. It's funny that I, who never supported Chelle in getting the job, have to defend him from you people who celebrated his appointment all over the place.
I generally maintain a position of giving every new coach a chance. You see that playing Aina at LB, keeping Bruno on the bench and Osayi as the RB? the error showed itself in the first game against Rwanda when Yusuf, as in Yusuf came in for Osayi.

At that point he should have realized the error of using the two RBs at the same time.

Then shockingly he repeated it in the match against Zimbabwe. The entire right hand side of our game was flat. Zimbabwe had a free day running up and down that track. No be there dem take score us?

I doubt his tactical nous oo. Doesn't mean I will not give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, it's Finidi who finished us, not Chelle

Mad people dey Nigeria. We dey complain say Ekong lacks pace. Now see suggestion that we should bring back Balogun who when the Oyibo wall was in place was slower than Ekong.

And d fact dat people talk say him dey cook something baba Odegbemi came to mind.

I av never seen-though it might have happen-at that crucial moment a coach replacing a striker with another striker when you have up to three on d pitch.

The reason why so many are supporting Chelle is dat Nigeria started d WCQ so badly that after d victory against Rwanda and being d first in 5 games everyone was happy but sincerely what is d difference between Chelle, AE, Amunike or Siasia.
It was a wrong sub. I hope he learns his lessons

Sincerely d law you nailed it on d head. We have become so accustom to mediocrity that we celebrate stupidity, just like when nepa would not give us light for so many month and when dey bring it for one day we begin talk say dem try.

With all due respect Chelle is not better Dan AE, who led Nigeria to 3 place finish in 2006 and he would av qualify Nigeria for 2022 WC if not for Uzohorror, is not better Dan Siasia a silver medalist at world stage playing against d best. So people should rest when we criticize d coach is not about hatred but pedigree.

Chelle invited four wingers and fielded them all at once.
Terrible. In the first match when Osayi was subbed, guess who was slotted at RB? Yusuf! Can you imagine. When naturally Osayi should come in for Aina. I really wish I can understand his thinking. Is Bruno that bad at LB?

I doubt Chelle is a good tactician oo. I doubt it. To do the same dumb thing twice in such high stake matches? Mbanu especially with almost three months of preparation? Something is wrong oo

It is just like saying, leave Super Eagles matter, it is spent.

I will say this with every insight that i have gathered from my studies of the Super Eagles team:.
Kelechi Nwakali is needed more than Eberechi Eze in the Super Eagles. He is more important.
Believe it or not believe it.
Okey I believe. Wetin change 🤷🤷?

To date Kelechi Nwakali still remains our most creative midfielder.
Whosoever he has offended in the NFF, should please forgive him.
If he has offended anyone, let him make peace.

We don't have any midfielder with his kind of crosses, long balls and creativity.
Abeg you in God's name, leave this Nwakali matter. It's spent.

Guy you finish work, Lookman should be talked to or dropped if he can’t work with his fellow strikers, he even shined in Afcon through an assist from osihmen. At least let’s get one or two goals before you begin to go solo, it’s looking as if because osihmen got two goals in Rwanda he wanted to get on the score sheet by all means in uyo. One shot he had in the first half should have been a cross to osihmen. I like Lookman but he needs some talking to by the coaches. I feel it’s the reason Boniface is also struggling in that set up. When I said some time ago that Boniface and Lookman should lock up themselves in a room and talk I was mocked here.

Thank you for the article especially for those who keep blaming the coach and nff for clear and begging chances that were missed in the game. The Zimbabweans were on the platter for real slaughter but our players messed everyone up. Nonsense!
Lookman is selfish. If only he has the mind Osimhen has or even Simon who is always working hard albeit not so effectively to provide assists to Lookman and Osimhen.

Lookman shaaa just wants to score himself. It was bad. We should have scored those guys in the first half.

We have the players that can beat any African team.
In Africa we should be dominating.

We have the players.
Ekong has a commanding personality, but he is error prone, players have their strengths and weaknesses, if we are to continue his services, then tactics and personnel both in defence and midfield should be tweaked.

Our coach did let us down.
He made mistakes that were costly
I put that defeat on Chelle. He cost us this game. Playing Aina as LB and Chukwueze in right midfield was a big error. It created serious imbalance.

We are just an arrogant people, the last time we were in the Afcon final before 2024 was in 2013, a whole decade ago, a coach came and took us to the final. We say na haram football we dey play, even our so-called ex-players were just making all sorts of noise, including those who never played in an Afcon final, all calling for the head of the coach as if he killed someone, some people then said even if he wins the Afcon he should be sacked because of his haram football, shebi we know where we dey now. ok, now we have an attacking-minded coach, we are complaining he didn't put enough bodies to defend his goal, what exactly do we want? You attack, na problem, you defend double wahala!
That Peseiro system was good for us. Perhaps a little tweak was all that was needed to perfect it. We weren't scoring and we were hard to score.

Nerdie's reflections

If the 3 pts are deducted as expected from SA for the mokoena fumble then believe or not we are still in with a chance despite our silly fumble yesterday.

Yesterday's result is enough to not grant us access to USCAMEX 2026 but perhaps the football gods through CAR321's findings foresaw chaos in Uyo and made provisions.
The Beautiful Game became ugly yesterday for us and everyone here has a right to say "WE WONT BE AT THE 2026 WC."

Trust me, even if we qualify, I won't blame any of you for doubting right now only to be proven wrong later.

The attitude... the general attitude of most of the lads in game situations speak volumes to why most of us don't see this team making it in the end. But time will tell.

Victor Osimhen..... Top lad. The best Number 9 we have had since Yekini. He will not say all that is on his mind but deep down, I know he is absolutely pissed at everyone who was on the pitch when we conceded that cheap goal. From Ekong to Ndidi to Osayi to Boniface, everyone! He blames them and he is bloody right to do so because COME ON!! HE DID HIS PART. HE SHOWED UP. HE ALMOST ALWAYS SHOWS UP IN THE GWG. Reason why he is on 26 goals now in 40 caps.

This guy will kill himself, pick up injuries while on duty and still come back banging. Habamana!

I hope the others get the message and rally round for one last chance to salvage this WC ticket dream.

We are down but perhaps not just out yet.

Remember Pre-Afcon 2023... how I and most of you doubted the peseiro led team just before Afcon 2023 held early last year. ONLY TRUIDSTARR and a few others believed pre-tournament that we could go all the way.

I didn't believe but I showed up to support in the first game. It was after the first game, and the second vs CIV that I joined fully the belief wagon because I saw something. We went all the way but lost the final.

Nigeria... an enigmatic football nation. Stars everywhere but make minnows look like giants. Then when you absolutely rule them out, they come stunning you, slapping you back to reality and reminding you of why THEY WILL ALWAYS BE THE SUPER EAGLES.

BASED ON YESTERDAY, we don't deserve to be at the 2026 WC but if SA loses 3 pts... then whether we feel it or not, the truth is we have been offered another chance at redemption.

How this story ends is up to the rest of the team. Osimhen's mental profile is clear for everyone to see. He will always show up.
It is the rest we should be worried about. It is the rest that truly determine if the story ends well or not.

As always... TIME WILL TELL IT ALL.

Make everybody drink water and chill... it's not eureka just yet.
This your talk is sweet and comforting but even though, even though.

Me I don comot mind. E get wetin I dey see wey dey ginger my believe. I didn't see it yesterday. I sounded it from the first half that I was seeing draw in that match when wave after wave of our attacks were either being rebuffed or spent. I instinctively knew that a draw was in the offing.

Toh make una dey calculate dey go. I no sabi maths.

Meanwhile who see afobear?

Simon made good crosses first half. Osimhen's header that hit the bar. Inconsistent crosses yes, but he was'nt one direction

The problem with our inverted winter style is what happens in the box. Players don't interpret space. No one is trying to drag players to free another, or one looking to position himself.

Only Osimhen and Fisayo seems to know how to position themselves around the box. Remember Fisayo's goal against SA and Victor's own yesterday. Class movement
My problem was that many times he'd want to create space for himself before crossing and Osimhen will be in the box waiting.
It's not easy sha. But e pain me

This is too early bruv, though I felt he committed too many men forward especially in the first half as a better opposition in counter attack would have hurt us. We lost yesterday's match big time. It's like Zimbabwe won us 3-0.

This issue of inverted wingers. Make una help me look am. See Aina's cross that led to the goal was what Simon should have been doing all game. But no, because of inversion he was always trying to cut to his right leg and the Zim guys never let him. A left footer would - just like Aina who is bipedal - have been whipping in crosses.

I hate this inverted winger bullshyte. If at all it should be deployed, let it be on one wing not the two wings. And then you use it if you have highly skilled and technical players like Robben. No be for players like Chukwueze

lookman did it couple of times from the highlight I watched
Lookman problem is that he likes to enjoy the limelight. Osimhen is very unselfish. He doesn't mind not scoring, so long as we win.

Lookman had several opportunities to lay the pass but he dey always shoot even when them don block am.

Everybody wan score. As time reach for Osimhen to score, him struggle? No!

In a team with someone like Osimhen, we need someone like Oliseh to unselfishly feed him. Go watch Afcon 94, all Rashidi goals na Oliseh supply am.

But Lookman wan score. Forgetting that what is important is qualifying for the World Cup.
