Good morning House.
I was able to raise roughly 6 million naira from personal savings and family donations and i am very interested in pursuing a masters in public health in a USA school.
Will 6million naira be enough?

It should be enough depending on several factors.

1. Location of your school (rural or urban)

2. If you have funding from your school or you are solely self funded.

3. If you will be able to get on campus job to offset some living expense bill.

Just do your research and prepare very well

Stop saying what you dont know!

It is not all schools that have marks on official transcript.
I have seen more than one without score.

Attached is a copy of my own official transcript, and my scores were clearly stated. I made my earlier post based on what is obtainable from my own undergraduate school which I felt should be the same for every other schools.

You may be right, all schools may not be the same in terms of transcripts..

So I think this should end the scores or no scores on transcript argument.

On the other note, 70-100 is A in Nigeria while in the US and with WES, 90-100 is A, 85-90 is B+ and 80 to 84 is B.

In the case of transcript without scores, Don't you think WES might have requested for the raw scores during the verification mail which was always sent from WES to the schools after WES received the transcript from the delivery firm? . The verification mail is always confidential to both WES and your SCHOOL only which the student applicant don't always get to see?. This is just my thought.

All the same, let's move on.

God bless u my man. People like you are a rear gem. Actually, my career part has been in accounting and I wish to continue in that line. I made upper credit both in my ND and HND. So, accounting is in my blood. What I am actually concerned about it funding for acounting programme. I barely see such post here. Please if anyone knows schools that offers good funding for macc program, ill be overly appreciative. God bless the house and bless other persons seeking for US visa.

There are several schools that offer part funding or full funding for Ms accounting depending on your GPA. First evaluate your CGPA with wes, check your target schools and read about funding on thier website to see if your profile fits in. Send mails to coordinators of your proposed program for enquiries and they will reply you with adequate information

Lol...expert ranker! FYI these rankings are subjective. As far as it's an accredited University, the focus should be on program quality and funding options.

Schooling is just for 4years (undergraduate) or 2years (masters).

After graduation, the job market will distinguish between a ranked school and the unranked ones.

While a ranked school finals are getting on campus job interview and even getting jobs before they graduate, students from VIU, LINCOLN and Co will be roaming the street for Hb jobs with little chances of getting.

As an international student, ranking matters because the kind of school you attend goes a long way to dictate how your post graduate life will look like.

Go for Computer Information Systems or Data Analytics Bro. Easier to get jobs with these programs than accounting.

1. He may not have computer background

2. His passion may lie in accounting and not computer related stuffs, so why should he switch to what he may not be passionate about because "he may not get job easily" according to you?.

Francophone134. If your passion lies with accounting, please go for it and strive to be a good CPA. the job market for CPAs in Yankee is endless. I was going though job and interns on handshake app and I was amazed to see accounting positions around everywhere.

Just last two month, I got personal handshake MESSAGES from VISA, Apen and AXA for MBA internship.

If accounting is your passion, go for it, pick a good school, strive to get good grades and go for certification to be a certified public accountant (CPA). The job opportunities are endless. From tax, to business to analyst to consultant and several others.

Thanks Muleriders, for the explanation. Still, I'd like to know how they(WES Officials) get each student's raw scores, for example, "80 over 100" or "75 over 100", since most transcripts don't have such; only the unit loads and the grades.

Your official transcript been sent from your school to WES has all your scores, units, grade and cgpa

that's what i don't understand about WES, is it that they gv gpa by random or what? . Some got gpa of 3.75/5.00 and final wes was 3.08, another got even got lower gpa of 3.70/5.00 and wes evaluated to be 3.29/4.00. Wes na scam las las cry

WES isn't scam, they calculate by scores and not grade.
for example, tosin scores 61 in Nigeria university and his school recored B while wes record as B- (61- 64),

Tolani scores 68 in Nigeria University and her school recorded same B while wes record as B+ (65-69)

The above is just a scenerio( not real US grade) . Same B from naija, different B (B+ and B-) from wes.

Summary, WES favours high scorers in a grade range. Hope that helps.

For example, mine was 2.8/5.0 from naija while my WES was about 2.9/4.

Others 3.0/5 from naija might fall lower if most of thier scores are lower in a grade range from naija. Hope that helps.

With the U.S having highest number of confirmed cases of corona and all US universities been on locked down for some weeks now. Let's just pray a cure or solution comes soon to the world. Because if situation continues this way, there may not be any fall enrollment for international students this year from the look of things. Even for us here, we are all compelled to study online from home via blackboard till further notice.

To all applicants, let's be safe and pray for the world to be healed soon. Wish you all the best

The VOs understand when people don't get admitted into all the schools they apply to, so put your mind at rest. However, your choice of schools will definitely raise a HUGE suspicion.

All three schools are not only in GEORGIA, but they are seated in one city (Atlanta), and about 25mins drive from one another. VO will be like, "Without any controversy, this sister get plans for ATLANTA - one of the cities with the largest population of Nigerians. Dont make his job too easy for him, spread out. No worry, when u enter, u go transfer go continue ur business for GA cool cool cool

A word is enough for the wise!

PS: You can include F.I.T (New York) to your list. I believe whatever you can find in SCAD, you will definitely find in F.I.T
Very Apt

Thanks for your inputs,
I did an online MBA course In the UK but trust me the experience is not the same, hence i wanted to have a face to face studies which is more respected. I have a 2 years study leave and want to utilize it.

I appreciate the time taken to write this thanks..

One question not answered though is do we have anyone studying for ms marketing?

Alright. Cool.
as for MS marketing, I am not too conversant with marketing as a masters cos most schools have it as MBA concentration.

You can use Google to do more research

Good evening
Pls I want to find out if anyone here or who knows anyone studying for MSc marketing. Just want to be sure it doesn't look fishy cos I really need the degree at my place of work here in Nigeria.

Pls someone, anyone.

Note: I have 7 years experience in marketing but have a science background hence the need for a graduate degree in marketing

Since you need the degree at your place of work and your keyword is coming back to Nigeria for a marketing career upgrade and not staying back in the USA, If you don't mind my advice, I will suggest you stay in Nigeria and opt for an online accelerated MBA with concentration in marketing for the follow reasons.

1. With an online degree, you will be able to spend less on schooling (NO living expense, no insurance, no feeding and transportation cost). Your expenses will only be your tuition, Internet data and your time

2. You will be able to keep your job in nigeria while studying at the same time (steady flow of salary and you won't be out of job)

3. No fear of V.O rejection. As long as you are admitted by an American University, you can commence your classes via blackboard and blackboard collaborate which is same experience as face to face classes

4. No visa fee, sevis fee, flight ticket wahala

5. Most of MBA classes are online whether you are on campus or outside USA. for example, 6 out of 10 courses for my masters are completly online while the remaining 4 is a blend of online or face to face classes. So, the experience is almost the same

6. You can always travel to your school in USA for career fair, field trips or conferences, and also, you can travel to USA for your graduation or have your certificate shipped down to you.

7. You get same certificate with people who studied on campus

8. You can accelerate your duration by taking summer classes which will make you graduate and finish earlier.

9. With the aid of your school in collaboration with handshake and other bodies, you can always get an international intenship program outside the country be it europe, America, Australia etc.

Just a suggestion

We can only be efficient at reviewing the list of schools in his bucket, we can't be efficient at selecting school for him because each school differs in admission requirements and we don't know the complete profile of this brother of yours.

Hello All
Plan going to Spartan college of Aeronautics and Technology for my Associates degree and commercial pilot license..
Program is 18 months and I honestly don't know the how to go about with the visa..
Don't have any degree but left High school about 6 years back..
The school doesn't need SAT but I don't know if the embassy will require that..
Is there anyone here that has gotten commercial pilot license?
Will really appreciate your input on how to go about it...

Since the school didn't require SAT, then you don't have to write. As for the visa, just work on how to sell yourself to the VO on why you chose the career path, be ready to explain what you have been doing for the past 6 years

In one of your replies then, you always tell me the American dream is possible if I keep pushing and don't give up. I specifically mention you then cos I was on MBA path you you have passed long before me. You might not remember me cos you have helped alot of people here but I will always be grateful to you for been part of the people who guided me through my pursuit.

Congrats on making straight As. You should have done that at the first time of asking but better late than never. There are millions of Americans and other immigrants here making straight As. My youngest brother is a plastic surgeon here... I don’t need your grades. Been there, done that. My best advice would be that you focus on your school and future... you’ve still got a long way to go. It seems you spent the last 2 years allowing me to live rent-free in your head. Not good.

The irony of it all is that you’re not much different from what you claim to denounce. You made straight As, now we won’t have a moments sleep. You now feel entitled to post lengthy screeds. The hypocrisy. Take a look in the mirror...

I just did that, I looked at my self in the mirror and I'm proud of myself oga Ade. Take just 5mins of your time to look through my old posts on this thread.

I never wrote off anyone like you did,
I never labelled anyone a failure like you did,
I never told anyone they were visa fraud like you did,
I never told anyone they won't make it like you did,
I never told anyone they won't get visa like you did.
I was never bittered about anyone like you did.
instead, I have helped a lot of people with low undergraduate cgpa like me to believed in themselves that they can always get a better second chance if they are dedicated to make it happen.
instead, I have coached, guided and had series of motivation and mocks with folks here to help them achieve Thier American dreams.

I'm much different from you.

P.s, this is the last mention you will get from me.
peace out

Your point being?
The point is, people here should not let someone who felt they are the best in the world,
who felt they are the most qualified,
who felt they are better than the consular at the embassy,

who felt they are the most honest Nigerian while the rest are fraud,
who felt you are a failure if you don't good GPA,
who felt you must be admitted to top schools,
who felt they have the best model for f1 visa,
who felt they can decide who gets visa or not at the embassy to decide Thier lives and future for them.

If I'm to live by your harsh judgement and model on me in 2018, I won't even apply to schools let alone nearing the embassy and getting visa and studying in a TIER 2, GOOD RANKED university in the USA.

You were literally good at writing people off, demoralised people and make people think it's either they are like you are they Bleep off.

Now that I have your attention, I will send you a dm, reply it and I will forward shots of my last cgpa to you.

The same person you tagged a failure two years ago cos I made 2.8/5.0 is here making all A's in arkansas.

Personal statement to every applicant here.

Don't ever!!!, I repeat, don't ever let anyone write you off or tag you a failure because of your circumstances. There is room for everyone to study in the USA even with your third class, yes you heard me right. There are schools in USA offering conditional admission to 2.0/4.0 GPA if your have good profile in other admission parameters aside the cgpa.
one day, I will post an exclusive writeups on how to achieve and get good school admission with your circumstances

Looool nairaland is a funny place, no wonder they dont like Twoods
If you tell them the truth, it's bad energy and someone who never enter america go dey tell you wetin dey happen for there.

They will say its dumping personal problems on people because you gave them advice

Lool
The end will justify...

Hmmmmmm, the same Twoods that quoted my old moniker that year and labelled me a failure bacause I had a low Gp from Nigeria?, telling me I'm unserious for graduating with 2.8 while my mates are getting 4.5 and above without knowing my situation and what I passed through in school?, the same twood that openly criticise everyone not applying to havard and MIT as less privileged?,
Abi the same twood (anti-migrant) of that time that will openly tell people including me that they will not get visa as if he is the consular General?,

I wish he is still active here so that I can show him my 4.0/4.0 cgpa ( all A's) in last semester.

Back to the topic. Life doesn't have a perfect manual, every theories and models been used today were some people's trial and error in the past which eventually worked for them before it became a model.

Sometimes, you let people figure out circumstances by themselves. If it works, they win. It it doesn't, they learn from it

Your chances are super slim,
you are also not planning well.

Ass is 2 years program same as masters.

Since you already have Bsc. Apply straight for masters in your computer course. So many schools in US (my school for example) accept applicants from any undergraduate background into masters, you will just have to take few undergraduate pre-requisites.

Telling the VO that you already have a degree is a straight disqualification to your ASS, it's like graduating from a university and advancing to enroll to an OND in polytechnic
