Hi everyone, please is it possible to get one's passport back the next day after visa approval in Abuja? I mean like interviewing on Thursday and getting it the passport on Friday.
I'm asking coz I will be having my interview in Abuja though I stay in Lagos. I'm considering using Abuja as pickup location so I will just wait behind to collect the passport instead of leaving immediately and waiting for them to send it to Lagos. Please has anyone done this? Kindly share your experience. Thank you.

I like your faith.

Your few posts on NAIRALAND has only been to troll and to make some jokes on Fairheart. You need to focus more on your life, and develop yourself so that you won’t have any reason to troll people that are ahead of you. I will be justified if I say that you are hiding under a troll account and do not want to reveal your self with your real account. You should get a life bro.

To prexy1999, if your PhD specialization requires common sense, you should know that Fairheart has been on this thread for over a decade. Ofcourse you are still very new to NAIRALAND and the thread. If not you won’t be asking Fairheart where he is studying in 2021 just as you won’t be asking Lagosismyhome, walspring, or twoods where they are studying in America.

Only a dingbat will not know that twoods criticism comes from a place of envy, Schadenfreude, and some egotistic pride. The same man who said that someone can never study or go to the US. The same person who derive joy from other people’s failure but he (twood) himself is in the Us married to a white woman(not lady) for the paper and claiming the saint moses or saint Banabas. Anyway, only new people on this thread will take him serious.

Back to your unfortunate queries about Fairheart. You can signify yourself if Fairheart has requested a fee from you for the basic help he has rendered for you. He has been on this thread for years helping people both online and offline but you think it’s a problem for him to open a study abroad consultancy even though majority of his students are not from this thread?

grin grin that Twoods guy?.

I almost committed suicide in 2018 when this dude quoted me and said "you are failure, just forget about American dream and re-enroll afresh in a Nigerian University to get a better grade", "what were you doing when your mates were making 2.1 and first class".

As God will have it, walspring came to my rescue for TOEFL and GRE 50% discount as well as sevis payment. Fairheart came through for mocks. He was calling me with his credit days to my interview. Lagosismyhome came through for motivation and mentorship.
To the glory of God and shame of Twoods, I will be graduating with an MBA next week Friday July 30. With an estimated cgpa of 3.7/4.0.

Also got several honors including Beta Gamma Sigma which is the highest honor any business student can receive in the whole world.

Travel / Re: It Is Impossible To Save $25 (₦10,000) Daily Abroad by Muleriders: 2:43pm On Jul 19, 2021
nigeriandream14:
I have done a thorough research and my findings are very interesting. I hope the Moderators considers me worthy to move this to the front page.

It is impossible for someone earning $50,000 annually abroad to save $25 daily (Over $9,000 annually). Majority, if not all of western countries consider people making $50,000 as middle class. $25 dollars is just 10,000 naira daily. I believe most Nigerians with handwork can make that much comfortably daily. I am not trying to discourage anyone from traveling abroad, I just want us to have a rethink and see that Nigeria is not that bad as we portray it to be. Drivers, laborers, petty businesses etc all make over 10,000 daily. Forget the daily complain of hardship we read online daily. It is a Nigerian trait. Tens of millions of our citizens do actually make above 10,000 daily. What we need to do is cultivate the saving habits of our brothers who live in diaspora. Nigerians only learn how to save when they travel abroad. If we work on ourselves, saving a million naira annually won't be a problem. Thanks

https://www.cnbc.com/video/2021/06/25/how-to-budget-your-money-if-you-make-50000-per-year.html

$25 that folks earn PER HOUR and even more is what you said it's impossible to save in a day?.

If Christians worldwide can pay 1/10 of earnings as tithe, then you think saving 1 out of 8 - 10 hours wages is a problem?.

Bros change your loud plug.

Which school did you opt for and what was the tuition like?

Furthermore, will you advice one to get atleast a brush up course in the programming field before coming over?

My school is Southern Arkansas University

Tuition is about $4k per semester (9 credit hours, I.e 3 courses per semester). You can get scholarships and funding if you have a great GPA with good test scores.

If your background is non-statistics one. You can do a brush up course on udemmy. Although you will still have to take pre-requisite courses in the USA

How long did it take to transit from the banking sector to tech? What informed your transition decision?

Did you get your MBA through a scholarship programme?
Left banking officially in 2016 when I got tired of doing the same thing everyday and it's also a contract staff role with no transition into full time staff.
Learnt website and mobile app development in the whole 2017 and started freelancing online and taking some gigs as well.

In 2018. I discovered data science as a prospective field, I watched few videos on YouTube and I fell in love with it because it relates well with database management I learnt in web development. I shoot my shots at several schools in the USA then I opted for SAU because it offer courses in both business analytics, data analytics and visualization, enterprise resource and planning as well as some business courses. It was a great opportunity for me to blend business and tech
Career / Re: Share Your Career Transition Experience by Muleriders: 11:41am On Jun 25, 2021
Had first degree in chemistry.
Didn't practice it because I got a micro finance Job after nysc. From micro-finance, I moved to commercial bank.

I got tired of banking and decided to learn coding (website and mobile app development).

Found myself in between two worlds. Business and tech. Then I decided to do MBA in Trump-land Biden-land with concentration in business and data analytics.

With that, I am able to blend both the business world and tech world

Thank you very much, but what if I look for an immediate family member with the same surname may be getting a loan approval letter from bank will that be okay?

That might not solve your problem.
$59k is too high for an international student without funding. Even native Americans cannot afford that amount without the help of financial aids. The V.O will continue to see you as someone who will abandon school and join street.

You still have time. Forget about fall admission. Look for another well ranked and accredited schools with lower cost of attendance or look for schools that will give you funding. Then reapply for visa.

You cannot spend up to 80k for application fee.
Which one is "my admission charge". Probably the agent charges. What are you documenting for 100k?

GRE materials sent to all email address in my mention!

I must warn some of you here: stop bombing universities that you see on approved transcript.
The U.S has over 5000 colleges and universities. Why must 2500 Nigerians apply to a single school, when there are several other schools with even better admission chance and financial opportunities?

I hate to say this, but you need to do your own home work. There's nothing wrong in searching for your own schools, contacting your program department on possibility for admission and financial support before you apply. All you need is time and focus. If you can't do it, seek help. Do not avoid the work as it may land you in disappointment. Be intentional about your dream of studying abroad and be willing to pay the price.

By avoiding the work and only applying to schools you see on Nairaland, you deny yourself the possibility of applying to better school with better opportunities that would help secure your visa and make your stay in the U.S smooth.

I wish prospective applicants having interview for fall 2021 the best.

Funny but true.
The fact that Dada got his visa with University of Biden doesn't mean Sandra will get same.

I feel people do so because of funding.

Hello friends. I have two admissions, one is a bachelor degree in computer science and the other a master degree in computer science from different universities. My undergraduate degree in Nigeria is not in science so I am making a switch. I have the following questions and will appreciate your help.

1. Which of my admissions do you think I should go to my interview with? I was thinking of going with a masters degree but careful since my first degree here is in Art.
2. The school that gave me graduate admission waived GRE and TOEFL. How often do VOs ask for test scores?
3. Without GRE or TOEFL, can I tell the VO that they were waived because of covid since most schools did?
4. Does it matter that I have been denied a visiting visa in the past?

Why waste another 4 years for bachelors when you can spend two years in masters? Shorter duration, reduced funds and higher degree?.

Your first degree doesn't determine your graduate studies. Most schools in the US will admit from any UG discipline, you will only have to do few pre-requisite courses before starting your graduate courses which is way better, cheaper, easier, faster and more convenient than starting bachelors from scratch.

I had my UG as chemistry, switched to MBA at graduate level and all I did was to take UG pre-requisites in 5 courses before starting my masters courses.

2. Explain it the exact way to the V.O, " it was waived by the school"

3. If you school waived it, tell the VO the same when asked.

4. It doesn't matter. Alot of people have been denied multiple times before getting the visa

After this discussion with Walspring, I made a payment of N64k for the GRE which is less than the official price of $226 (>= N86k). Although it took a little less than a week to confirm the order due to no fault of his. He kept me updating about everything till the order was confirmed. This is me saying thank you to Walspring and the other anonymous benevolent people that made the GRE affordable. Baba God go dey continue dey bless una oh. Una pocket no go dry.

Shebi if to say money dey, I for just grab the offer for the TOEFL.

Walspring has been a blessing to most of us who passed through nairaland to the US, I paid 40k each for TOEFL and GRE (50% off) through him in 2018 and he helped me to pay for Sevis in 2019 as well.

Hello everyone. I graduated with Bsc Biochemistry and I intend applying for MS Biology (concentration in Cancer Biology) for fall'21. Though I have applied to some few schools. However, I got a conditional admission into Jacksonville state university for fall'21 and I'm waiting for their funding decision as it is not out yet. I'm open to any information as regards JSU GTA and to what extent "conditional admission" can make or mar an applicant at the visa interview.

I wish to apply to more schools (those that accept below 2.5 GPA) with either full or partial funding. I'll be gad if I can get vital information concerning this.
Here is my profile:
Undergraduate GPA: 2.67/4.0 ( WES evaluated)
TOEFL score: 73
I'm currently preparing for IELTS and GRE so as to boost my profile. Please I am open to all suggestions and help. Thank you in advance.

Conditional admission means you didn't meet up with unconditional admission requirements. And I can tell that your low cgpa is the main factor.

The pure truth, your chances of funding and GA is extremely slim, you even have a condition placed on you to pass all your first semester courses or else you will be dropped from the school. Your best bet is to get a sponsor and back it up with on-campus job. If you are the essay writing type, you can check fastweb scholarships for essay based external funding, it's small and very competitive as well.

Warm regards

Why is the tuition so cheap? Are you sure this school is not one of the blacklisted schools

Most rural universities have cheaper fees. Which implies some have good ranking, just rurally located.
My school charges $440 per credit for graduate class which means $1320 per course ( 3 credit).
