This happens in Nigeria because we don't take measures to curb this ugly menace. we still use obsolete equipment for electricity transmission and distribution.no lighting or surge arrestors on most of our power line.we allow poles,cross arms etc to damage before replacing them .it is very possible to avoid these outages if we are willing to improve on our power networks.
