greatopec: Good day Nairalanders I will be 40 on Oct 19 this year and I am scared the kind of life I have always desired may not be achievable. Let me list these things that worries me so that you can probably advise me or assist me in achieving any of them. 1) By 40 I had wished I will be living in my house with cars in my garage Current situation- I am a salary earner who eagerly waits for the salary to drop before my family can eat conveniently every month. 2)I love cars and driving. Was thinking of getting a good car for Uber business. Current situation- I have not been able to gather enough money to buy a car for Uber or personal use. 3)Seeking greener pasture abroad. Current situation- I have not been able to have enough disposable income to even get a passport to start with in the first place. 4)Self development. I had interest in programming so I decided to learn coding and all that. I started with free code camp and also this thread by iyenimofe on nairaland has been so helpful https://www.nairaland.com/1383359/learn-web-design-live-nairaland/6#17571611 The issue I have progressing is that of enough data subscription to watch more tutorials. 5)Acquisition of at least Masters. I have a passion for learning and self development but I struggled to have my HND with distinction. Gathering enough funds to start my masters program has been an uphill task.
Little about my background I am an HND graduate I have a sister who am responsible for also. I have a wife and two kids. I work 8-5weekdays Be thankful you are alive, many have achieved greater feat but had their lives cut off prematurely. |

lhordspy: This is how politics is played.
Build bridges, alliances, friendship across all tribe, religion and irrespective of political parties.
But one man and his people with entitlement mentality, expect the biggest political seat in the country should be given to them on the basis of self-pity.
Obi came third with 6million+ votes from largely ibos and Christians. Instead of sitting back and analysing the areas he failed like Northwest, NorthEast, and Southwest. Take advantage of the infighting within PDP, capitalise on that and woo the aggrieved PDP member to his side in preparation for 2027, especially in the Northern states. He and his people are launching post-election attacks and more attacks on the people that voted against them.
To be progressive in life, one need to be persuasive not arrogant, win or lose. But No, Obidients are going Nzogbu Nzogbu on anyone and everything, cancelling even foreigners. At the end of the day, they will still be the one crying marginalisation and segregation.
A case of Orji uzo kalu, a man that couldn't deliver his senatorial district for his party in the presidential but won his own senatorial seat. In an election, conducted same day, same time.; Same hours, same minutes. Infact it is only ballot paper that separated them.
Yet he want the seat of the senate president given to him on the platter of pity-party for his region.
They probably think politics is a game of pity. You are senseless. So it is Muslims that voted tinubu both in ondo and ekiti. In the north where tinubu won,it is xtians that voted for him. Instead of u to address the truth, you busy perambulating. If tinubu rallied on Muslims votes, what stops obi from relying on xtians votes. Hypocrites everywhere |

N3TRAL: Let me say this loud, clear and unequivocally:
I really love Peter Gregory Obi.
He presented hope for most Southern Nigerians who are only existing and not living life. I know this because I feel ashamed everytime I step out of grocery stores and malls with trolleys full of quality consumables, not because I'm a thief but because of the hopeless faces whose children would sleep without food.
I really respect Peter Obi because he proved the tribalists and those who treat Igbo people with disdain wrong.
He won the FCT and Lagos. He won Nasarawa in Northern Nigeria. He defeated an Hausa Speaking elite in Plateau State (Northern Nigeria) where he won with hundreds of thousands of votes. He won the South South, a zone that's believed not to have forgiven Igbos because of the civil war excesses.
Peter Obi reassured those of South Eastern heritage that they are loved and welcomed in Nigeria even though their rightful turn to lead their country was denied.
He did all these with a party that was inexistent in National Politics about 365 days ago.
I love His Excellency 👑 Peter Obi because of his determination to enshrine in the depth of the typical Nigerian a new political orientation of virtue signalling, empathy, humility, political correctness, diligence, workaholism, and humanism.
If he won, his government would have been one with the least intervention of "godfatherism" in our political culture.
It is not Mr Obi's fault that he wasn't my choice or the choice of more than 8 million others .
It's the fault of democracy that allows people to choose the leader they believe in most. If there was no Asiwaju, it'll be Obi for me. I'm still mourning the fact that he came third instead of 2nd.
ASIWAJU IS COMING !
He is coming because his ambition resonates with the larger Abiola story.
He is coming because God in heaven rewards hard work and strategic planning.
He is coming because it is Nigeria's O'clock.
He is coming because populism is a recipe for perennial poverty- facts.
He is coming because his manifesto was the most meaningful and practicable.
He is coming because his track records are more sterling.
He is coming because of his ability to assemble near-perfect teams that inspire development.
He is coming because he had the majority of votes cast and scored 25% in not less than 25 states of Nigeria.
He is coming to set the republic free. So he is coming, because he was not a drug Lord. |

That's d instruction they were given. Why not pick up a phone, call a bank Cash Officer or Operations Manager (not IPOB minded messenger or driver) for clarification. You guys were sold dummies to make u happy in your wickedness and joy in seeing ordinary people suffer whereas CBN has mandated the banks to give immediate value Why don't u direct your annoyance to the policy makers, urhin. |

Ok fine, you won! Let's assume the collection date for the 1000 and 200 notes expires by 10th of April, an individual can only make such deposit once within this period. If you decide to make another payment through a person, the thought that the money will take 4 wks before alert might is scary. The narration that the deposited amount will be credited immediately is your own invention . |
Politics › Re: Technically The CBN Has Caved To The Governors by Munamu: 11:29pm On Feb 18, 2023 |
Odibembem: By Friday morning, the CBN issued out directives to commercial banks to collect both N500 and N1,000 old notes subject to certain conditions life filling form from CBN portal but to accept them into the accounts of customers on one off basis and give immediate value.
The timeline given for this excercise is April 10, 2023. Never mind the disclaimer by the CBN same Friday which actually emphasized that it was only reissuing the old N200 into the economy, the truth is that they have asked banks to keep receiving the old notes. And most banks throughout today Saturday opened to collect the denominations.
What this means is that anyone can spend and collect the old notes in the market, use it for transactions and then finally pay into his/her bank account at anytime before April 10. In other words, during Feb 25 elections, the old notes can be spent and whoever receives it can pay into the bank before April 10. Then what was the purpose of the whole bruhaha in the first place? Why suffer us all when in the end the old notes can be spent in d election period? Why kill so many small businesses, kill so many people living on the fringes of life in pursuant of a policy that has technically collapsed even before the Supreme Court final judgement? I think the opposition made a big blunder in supporting this policy. They should had fought it from the beginning and be on the side of the people and not allow Tinubu extricate himself from it. Unfortunately the opposition owned it by supporting it so passionately, thus also owning the sufferings it has infringed on the people. If things stand as it is, without counter memo again from the CBN, they have lost as the money would now be used especially in the north when they know they can pay into the bank before April 10. We have a dullard and mumu as CBN governor. Neither Sanusi not Soludo not Joseph Sanusi would had supervised this kind of shit. They just brutalized the masses for nothing! Your write is not correct. The 200 notes seizes to be a legal tender by 10th of April. Deposit of 1000 & 500 notes can only be made once by a customer. Commercial banks cannot collect amount more than 500k. Collection of 1000 and 500 notes ends next week, before election. Now tell me how the politicians will not be affected by the paucity of funds, especially the corrupt ones. |

Politics › Re: How Tinubu Can Use The CBN Debacle To His Advantage by Munamu: 8:38pm On Feb 10, 2023 |
Naijazeera: The naira redesign policy has caused a lot of havoc and no doubt is the most challenging of all the government policies implemented. Oppositions are quick to jump on it as a political tool to critics the ruling party, and surprisingly showed support for it. Not because they think its the most pressing need of the country nor being implemented at the appropriate time, but because they think some element in the ruling APC already have the old naira stack in anticipated to buy vote. Even the main opposition candidates Atiku and Obi, has spoken from both side of the mouth while following the trend and drawing narrative that suits their political advantage.
APC presidential candidate, Tinubu was the first to criticize it at a rally in Ogun state, and at that point Nigerians were yet to feel the heat, so not much think he meant well, most people concluded he has ‘bullions’ stashed for vote buying. As the situation became worse, and the APC governors and aspirants, having seen that the populace could use it to unleash a protest vote against them, started voicing out, forcing CBN to extend till 10th of Feb. Now that a supreme court ruling has been secured to prevent the government from enforcing the 10th deadline, the government will have no choice than to comply, being the apex court. The poor note design, appalling implementation, wrong timing, and supreme court judgment, only allude to the fact from APC quarters that CBN governor is out for blood and being used by the opposition. Now that the whole things seem to have backfired on CBN, with sudden remorse as against the initial arrogance, Tinubu seems to be vindicated, and his outburst justified. He can go ahead to position himself as the voice of the masses, which was loud and clear when the need arose. He can campaign along that line to portray himself as friend of the masses, voice of the voiceless and a snippet of what is administration will be.
How this can be used as a political tool depends on if or not the mass will buy the narrative. Stop taking burukutu son, it causes hallucinations. |

Willy7: Hello Everyone! As the campaign trail gets underway for the 2023 general elections, especially the presidential, I have come to observe some things I'd like to share. 1. The NNPP seem to be the most matured in terms of supporters behaviour.
2. Peter Obi /Atiku seem to be the most well mannered and tactful in responding to questions and campaign rally.
3. The North suddenly is tilting towards an Atiku Presidency, leaving the Northern governors to their fate and pact with Tinubu
4. The North seem not to buy the Tinubu Moslem Moslem ticket bait.
5. Tinubu may have seen the betrayal coming, especially from his party and that made him throw his weight into the ring as the only one that has the political weight to match an Atiku candidacy, but he never saw Obi coming.
6. APC /PDP never saw the campaign going the way it's presently going. Their usual propaganda seem to be failing this time.
7. Everyone supporting Obi is tagged Igbo, thereby tribalising Obi's candidature.
8. Obi supporters, especially of Igbo extraction are specific of their criticism of Tinubu. (They call out Tinubu personally). Tinubu supporters on the other hand call out a whole tribe while criticing Peter Obi.
9. Atiku seem more confident of winning eventhough I can't tell what gives him such notion and confidence.
10. This election has also exposed the tribalists among our political elites.
11. The election has also exposed the hype surrounding Tinubu supposed political sagacity.
12. The election has also exposed Igbo political elites as envious of one another.
13. The religious divide and consciousness in Nigeria has been awaken.
14. The campaign trail also reminded leaders to do well in whatever capacity they are called to serve as that will serve as reference point when they seek bigger office in the future. (Obi's deficiency and also efficiency while in office as governor comes to mind)
15. The North is doing all it can to have a clash with Tinubu, but he seem to be dodging such. Even his supporters are avoiding any direct confrontation with the North.
16. Atiku seem to be lying low in other not to upset those with his receipts. Whenever his issue comes up, he waters it down.
17. Peter seem to avoid confrontations, maybe due to the fact that he doesn't have any political heavyweight apart from OBJ openly supporting him.
18. Apart from some governors and hangers on, I don't see any sane, unbiased and person of intergrity supporting Tinubu.
19. The attack against Peter seem to be losing steam among the supporters of opposition candidates. Could it be that they are seeing something different in the polity?
20. People want to vote personalities rather than parties.
21. Most of the Ipob apologists no doubt has joined the Obi train. I see some similar modus operandi in some of their WhatsApp groups.
22. Personally I've learnt a lot from this election so far.
You are free to add yours. Insults will be ignored. Well written bro . You are the man with an ear to the ground |

HomoSapiien: If Tinubu was a coward, he would not voice one bit about the implication of the kind of frenzy and panic some elements in the current government are trying to activate on Nigerians.
Before the presidential primaries, it was rumored that Malami was supporting Emefiele to clinch the presidential ticket, hence we can always say, since Abba Kyari who was the former owner of Emefiele, died, Malami has taken over in putting leash on his neck and directing him wherever he so will.
Nobody is against the new naira policy but question is, why didn’t the circulate the new notes since it was printed out in December? Why is it now that it’s just barely a week to the deadline that they’re trying to compel everyone to get it from the banks, when actually they’re yet to distribute enough to the banks?
Why should they try to frustrate Nigerians, why should they cause unnecessary panic in the public?
There was no real fuel scarcity for the past 6 years, how come it’s starting now?
Now, Tinubu has shown that he’s ahead, confident and not a coward the more reason why he voiced out yesterday. If it were some Lilly liver politician, he would remain muted while these elements make Nigerians angry at him, but now that he's voiced out, expect this who thing to disappear in a few days.
The cabals (Malami and co) know quite well that should Tinubu president, it'd not be business for them as it currently is with Buhari, they're scared and they probably striked a bargain with Atiku and they're eager to work with him so they can have food on their table again.
Because you can see clearly how fast Atiku campaign team quickly replied back to Tinubu outburst. They never expected he would be bold enough to call out the cabal and they know quite well that with that outburst, their game plan is going down.
Don't forget it was until he voiced out prior the primaries before Buhari's cabal go down low, now he's voiced out again and they'd have no option that to go down low. Watch out! Useless write from an urchin. |
This is not always true. At all. In fact I've seen quite a few cases where this happened and the men involved where EXCELLENT fathers and husbands. The problem is natural. Monogamy has a reductionist demand on men that is impossible to meet. A women for example would want to avenge the fact that her husband looked at another woman 30 yrs ago! It is not that the man looked at another woman. It is that she is looking for a pretext to abandon him in old age! A man gets married and at first controls 90% love and admiration. But as he ages, and he keeps investing in his wife and kids, he gradually drains himself of that love and admiration because he empowers them while he dis-empowers himself. Over time, he would be lucky if he controlled 10% love and admiration. How does love and admiration come about? Through MATERIAL THINGS: money, properties, etc. Once he depletes all that and the kids grow up, the wife becomes "free" of the kids, and since he is sexually emptied as well for his wife, he loses everything and gets abandoned. Life is NOT sentimental. That is why a smart man must plan ahead and keep his materials very close to himself until his old age. With those materials firmly under his control, he would retain love and admiration whether his wife and kids like him or not, or else ... Truth, truth and truth |
