Obi1kenobi: The only state agitation I would support is Anioma. Chopping up territory from 5 small SE states to piece together one small new state sounds quite extreme and such a state would be in political turmoil in our political climate where we're always arguing about rotational leadership. After an Orumba man is governor, the next time an Orumba man will smell it again will be like 30 years later. that one shouldn't be your headache BC same division and rotation would still occur in Anioma besides the last time I checked Anioma is in SS and not SE, so I'm talking of when a state is needed to be created in SE and not SS..you can suggest Anioma when need for state creation arises in SS |

oilPUSSY: Keep quiet and stop being mischievous in your analysis. We are talking of state creation and you are here lumping the whole zone together. State creation is not done by landmass but by population of the peoples in that area. The same thing applicable to representatives. Lagos state is the smallest state in Nigeria by landmass but has highest representative in the house of reps today (21). You are talking of landmass, I hope you are aware that Anambra state which is the second smallest state in Nigeria in landmass is more populated than Niger state which is the biggest state in Nig by landmass ?. In your efforts to justify 5 states given to Igbos, you forgot that SE has almost the same population with NE. Clap for yourself ... you're right, state creation isn't by landmass but by population.. After all Lagos is the smallest state with the biggest population.. To me if a state needs to be created in SE it should be ETITI state which should involve places already outlined in 2014 national conference and include Orumba North/south, okigwe, isiukwuato, Afikpo north/south, umunneochi, ihime mbano,Awgu and Aniniri LGAs which cut across all 5 SE states presently |

National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for South East, Deacon Austin Umahi has described Fashola’s statement of possible Power return to the South West in 2023 as an eye opener for the Igbo people in the All Progressives Congress, APC. Umahi in reaction said “That’s an eye opener to our so called brothers and sisters who are in the failed APC for their selfish interest and leaking pockets . Chief Austin Umahi “Most importantly, it is glaring that APC is drowning in all ramifications and Nigerians hve rejected them and will demonstrate it in less than 112 days . “Rebranded and repositioned PDP does not only have Nigeria collective interest but South East in particular. Am convinced that as a party built on fairness and equity, South East surely stands a better chance to take her equity share in Nigeria project come 2023, God’s willing.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/10/fasholas-statement-eye-opener-for-ndigbo-in-apc-umahi/amp/cc lalasticlala mynd44 |

NORTHERN Youth Leaders Forum, NYLF, has cautioned South-East leaders to stop using youths who are not even northerners to fight their brother. They were reacting to the statement credited to one Comrade Elliot Afiyo on behalf of Northern youths. The statement called for the Presidential flag-bearer of the PDP to look for another running mate that would be acceptable to them, saying that they would not support the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi for being anti North. A statement signed by the President of the group, Comrade Bajudu Joseph Mamman, its Secretary, Comrade Garba Ubala and representatives from other states in the North, denied Elliot Afiyo being their member and said that his name is not an Hausa name . The statement from the group read: “Our attention has been drawn to a protest visit to His Excellency, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR at Abeokuta by a youth group impersonating the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, against the nomination of Obi, CON, as the Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Ordinarily, we would wave off this impersonation as part of political intrigues we are aware of, but to mislead the nation by misleading a former president is unacceptable to us, therefore we cannot keep quiet while our organisation is all over the media for the wrong reasons caused by people unknown to us.” The group recalled how, on the 13th of October, 2018, some people who turned out to be Igbo leaders invited them to Fajumali Hotel and Resort at No. 7 Mayere Road, Barnawa, Kaduna and offered them N10 million to publish that northern youths rejected Mr. Peter Obi as the vice presidential candidate. They said it was their refusal, which was widely published on social media that led to the declaration of using a fake name. Even northern youths have become ATIKULATED |

Obi1kenobi: The SW are in a governing coalition with the North as co-founders of APC. They have labored to bring APC this far. Igbos positioned themselves as the main opposition to APC and have contributed little to the party at national level. Everyone knew there was never any way that they would hand over power to Igbos in 2023. The rotation as it is for the presidency is between the North and South. The SW would feel eligible to contest the Presidency in 2023. Also, these theories about the SW's political oblivion don't hold any water. The core North who loathe Igbos more than any other group in the country will certainly pick a Yoruba over an Igbo in the current political climate. This is the time for Igbos to be making overtures to the Middle Belt and Niger Delta. Complacency about the SW's political oblivion is a gift for Yorubas. i gara akwukwo nwanne...great input... |

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Thursday, urged the people of South West to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections to guarantee a return of power to the region in 2023. The minister stated this at a special Town Hall Meeting on infrastructure organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture and the National Orientation Agency. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed led three other ministers including Fashola, Ministers of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu to the town hall meeting.
Fashola said besides the massive investments by the Buhari administration on infrastructure across the country and in South-West in particular, the South west would benefit more politically by voting for Buhari.
The minister, who spoke in Yoruba language and with a proverb said: “Did you know that power is rotating to the South-West after the completion of Buhari’s tenure if you vote for him in 2019?
“Your child cannot surrender her waist for an edifying beads and you will use the bead to decorate another child’s waist.
“A vote for Buhari in 2019, means a return of power to the South West in 2023. I am sure you will vote wisely.” for those hoping for igbo presidency from APC, it is all scam |

The Government of Benue State has given an appeasement donation of N2 million to the Ebonyi State Government over the recent killing of over six Ebonyians by the Benue people in inter- boundary dispute. The Benue State Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu, who represented Governor Samuel Ortom, delivered the amount when he led a high powered delegation to Ebonyi State Government House, Abakaliki on Wednesday to condole with the State over the unfortunate incident. Confirming the development to newsmen at the end of Wednesday’s State Executive Council meeting, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Sunday Inyima, explained that the said amount was donated to augment the State’s assistance towards resettlement of the affected families. Inyima noted that since the beginning of the dispute over 98 years ago, the visit was the first time the Benue State Government has shown great concern over the recurrent loss of lives often recorded along the borders and attributed the development to Governor David Umahi’s approach to crises management. Inyima, who said the delegation was received by the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Eric Kelechi Igwe, also confirmed that the two parties held brief closed door discussions where far reaching resolutions were reached prior to a comprehensive peace meeting to be held at Abuja on October 29. Inyima Said: “Let me inform the press and the general public that today, Ebonyi State Government received in audience a very high powered delegation from Benue State led by no less a person the Deputy Governor of that State. “Their mission in Ebonyi State was to condole with the people of Ebonyi over the gruesome killing of Ebonyi indigenes at the Ohaukwu axis, particularly Ngbo communities of Ukwuagba, Ekwashi and Umuogudu Akpu, where six Ebonyi indigenes were gruesomely murdered under the name of communal inter-state boundary clash. “It may please you to note that this issue of our boundary problem with Benue State is a thing that has actually lasted for a very long time, dating down to the 1920s. “But it will also be good to note that since that time to this particular date, there has never been a day that the Benue State Government sent a delegation to come and condole with the people of Ebonyi State. “May be it is the first time since the inception of that crises. “On their visit, they brought with them the sum of N2 million, which the Government of Benue State said should be handed over through the Local Government Chairman of Ohaukwu to the individual families that lost their great sons and daughters. “We met with them in the office of the Deputy Governor and we also agreed and made some resolutions in an informal private discussion with them, which was signed. “By Monday next week, 29th of October to be precise, we are going to meet with them and the National Boundary Commission Chairman at Abuja to further discussions on this matter, and we are believing that some of the salient issues that we raised today are actually going to help us in the discussion we are going to have in Abuja. “All these are geared towards ensuring that lasting peace is brought to bear, especially with regards to our borders with Benue State and indeed that with Cross River State.” Recall that six persons from Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State were last week murdered by some people from Benue State in an alleged unprovoked inter-border attack. https://uncova.com/inter-boundary-killings-benue-appeases-ebonyi-with-n2m |

globemoney: ^ I dont think ebonyi has up to 1 million votes it's not about what u think but reality..take a look at the emboldened below Godswill Obioma, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ebonyi, has described vote-buying as “a virus ” capable of destroying Nigeria's democracy if not `killed.’ News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that he spoke on Tuesday, October 9, in Abakaliki at a meeting between the commission and leaders of registered political parties. NAIJ.com gathers that the election officer also warned stakeholders against vote-buying, vote-selling and all forms of violations of the electoral laws and the electoral guidelines, before, during and after the elections. READ ALSO: Negotiations break down as FG reportedly offers N25,000 as new minimum wage He said: “Vote-buying is a virus, it is the engine that bedevils development, we should collectively destroy the virus before it kills our democracy. “We assure the people of Ebonyi that under our watch, the commission will conduct free, fair, credible and violence-free elections, and that all votes must count.” . According to him, estimated 1,475,387 people are expected to vote in the 2019 general elections in Ebonyi. Obioman, however, said that the final figures would be confirmed after the consolidation of the figures and the process of Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) has been concluded. He explained that the number of registered voters in Ebonyi before the 2017 voter registration stood at 1,117,770, but added that the number increased to 1,475,387 following the additional registration of 357,617 voters during the 2017 /2018 registration. He noted that the consultative meeting was the first since the suspension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). Obioma said that the meeting provided platform to brief the party leaders on preparations to conduct peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible elections, and also brainstorm on ways to make the elections successful in the state. He said: “This meeting is convened to keep the political stakeholders abreast of our preparations for the 2019 elections in Ebonyi and to seek their support. “This is a way of cascading the commission’s policies and programmes to the stakeholders at grassroots and the general public and thus carry all stakeholders, especially political parties along." He also decried the low rate of PVCs collection in the state, and appealed to party leaders to intensify sensitisation and enlightenment campaigns to mobilise registered voters who have yet to collect, to go and get their PVCs. He said: “At the end of 2017; 19,079 PVCs out of 77,397 released by the INEC headquarters were collected by their owners leaving a total of 58,318 unclaimed cards. “In first quarter of 2018; 58,247 PVCs were released for the state; and we are yet to determine the total number collected because collection is still ongoing." The resident commissioner added that only 5,075 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) were of voters compared to 2015 general elections. That's the fact, now change your wrong thoughts.. lol.. |

The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, on Monday said Igbo leaders and governors of the zone never disagreed with his nomination but disagreed with the process.
Mr Obi who visited Governor David Umahi in the Government House Abakalikii said he was in the state to seek the support of Mr Umahi.
“Umahi is our leader, he is a man of impeccable character. He was at the centre of the storm but I want to tell the people that Umahi and Igbo leaders were misrepresented badly.
“Igbo leaders never disagreed with my nomination as VP candidate but disagreed with the process; but I am here to solicit for your support,” he said.
The former Anambra governor said the believes the current ruling party in Nigeria, APC, was mismanaging the economy.
“PDP as a party is desirous of returning to power at the center not just because we want to return to power but because we have seen that in our country Nigeria every indices of development today is heading south and we cannot continue that way.
“In terms of borrowing and all other indices everything is heading south. So PDP wants to come back and continue rebuilding the nation,” Mr Obi added.
Reacting, Mr Umahi commended the former governor for his humility and described him as an asset to the country and the PDP.
He promised to support Mr Obi and the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
He noted that the zone will still meet with Mr Abubakar to discuss his plans for the region.
“I have every reason to be happy very with you. There is no way even if I was nominated I will be the vice presidential candidate. I still have more than four years as a governor. Secondly, we have always supported ourselves. During my campaign, you came and even gave us vehicles. “A lot of people have understood that there is nobody that is against our son, nobody has anything against you and that’s why everywhere you go, the South-east governors will roll out their drums. But no governor in the South-east will say the process, I approve of it; and he (Obi) didn’t approve of it. He told me, ‘look if I were in your position, I will be angrier’ and that is an honest man who understands what his people are saying.
“And so sir, you have done very well because what you did is to save the party. I feel that all these noise they are making is marketing the party. You have saved the party and I want you to keep on explaining to those who didn’t understand so that they can understand”.
“With this, the presidential candidate has said look I am coming to the South-east to discuss with you. We South-east people have never gone into presidential election with negotiation, nobody has thought of that. This is the only opportunity we are going to have to ask the presidential candidate what is it that you are going give us.
“Probably, if we didn’t raise eyebrow about that, we would have probably gone into the victory and we now begin to say we are now marginalised. I will never repent on that that which is going to come to South-east. When we see what is going to come to South-east, we will sit down and ask what Ebonyi will get. We have close to 1.5 million votes but we are working to deliver 1.3 million votes. That’s the fact and with that we will be saying what is coming to South-east and what is it that will come to us, this is very important.
“I am a straight forward person. If we are giving support to PDP, we are giving support to PDP and there is no doubt about that. We are PDP, no more no less.
“Sir, we will give you the support but we must see our presidential candidate to discuss with us what he has for South-east and Ebonyi.” Umahi is doing well as the Igbo leader as confirmed by peter obi. we will also deliver 1.3m votes to Atiku/Obi... |
