The Israeli government yesterday said it has no evidence about the appearance of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu in the country. According to the government, the pictures and videos showing Nnamdi Kanu praying in Israel could be old. Speaking during an interaction with some African Journalists in Jerusalem, the spokesman of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Mr Emmanuel Nashon said there was no evidence that the leader of IPOB was in their country of recent. “There are no details about his recent visit to this country yet,” Emmanuel said adding that the pictures and videos could be old ones. Speaking on their relationship with Africa, Emmanuel said Israel has been misconstrued adding that they are getting back to their old friends. “Our relationship with Africa is extremely important,” Emmanuel said insisting that the continent stand to benefit more from Israel. “Israel is a peaceful nation that believes in the process of the world at this changing times,” Emmanuel disclosed, adding that they have different religion such as: Judaism, Christianity and Islam that live peacefully with one another. “Jerusalem is one of the great cities in the world. We have Judaism, Christianity and Islam as religions. We are considering a lot of networks with Africa and African Journalists will get direct contact with Israel journalist so that you don’t need to take news from a agencies.” “Our embassies will also provide you with information any time you want it. Israel is a place with a lot of diversity and you see Jews from Africa and other parts of the world. We have Christians we have Muslims also. We are united in Israel,” he added. |

The South-East Renewal Group (SERG) has reacted to the position of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on the 2019 general elections. The group said Kanu’s declaration that there will be no election in South eastern part of Nigeria, which he claimed to be ‘Biafra territory’, was a joke that shouldn’t be taken seriously. Kanu, on Sunday finally opened up, since he resurfaced in Jerusalem, Israel. In a broadcast on Sunday evening, Kanu vowed not to return to the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he was standing trial before he left the country, describing Nigeria as a zoo. In a broadcast via Radio Biafra, Kanu boasted, “IPOB will liberate Biafra and we will not take part in any election until we get a referendum and this is not negotiable, we will achieve this by every necessary means, we thank Israel for all the contributions they made to IPOB.” Reacting to the controversial broadcast, Charles Mbani, National President of SERG in a statement on Monday, said it was most unfortunate that Kanu was back to cause trouble for people of South-East of Nigeria, who have spent the last one year re-building confidence with their neighbours in their bid to repair the damages caused by him and his IPOB members. SERG declared that Nnamdi Kanu, and the faction of IPOB that he leads, do not speak for the Igbo as a people. He said, “His utterances are at variance with the belief of the people of the South-East Nigeria, who are cultured, have maximum regards for Nigerians of other ethnic stocks, believe in the unity of Nigeria while they continue to clamour for restructuring that will promote equity, respect constituted authority and institutions and will never descend low to the point of disparaging other human beings. “The annals have recorded it that Nnamdi Kanu is a coward, who incited promising Igbo youths to throw away their lives literarily and figuratively. He threw the entire South-East into confusion and pocketed the money raised from suffering Igbo masses only for him to escape when the people had erroneously thought he had something in stock for them. “It is the height of insult to the Igbo sensibility for him to think that putting up this charade from the Holy Land will fool Ndi Igbo another round. If he is broke and wants to use this latest performance to finance his drug addled life he should have a rethink and look for honest work to pay his own bills. “We strongly believe that his desperation for money has made him team up with those that are out to frustrate the Igbo agenda and interest. We say this because it is curious that Kanu had hidden for so long as a common criminal only for him to turn up at a time when the political fortunes of the South East are improving with the nomination of one of our own, Mr. Peter Obi as a Vice Presidential candidate in next year’s election. “SERG hereby categorically place Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB and any miscreant that buys into the poisonous ideology they promote that not only will election hold in the South-East but that people will also come out to exercise their voting rights without being molested. “Igbo will mobilize to ensure this chance is not lost, certainly not in this lifetime. On the other hand, at the end of the General Elections, which would hold everywhere in a united Nigeria, Kanu would have proven beyond doubt that he is a liar and an utter symbol of falsehood that is at best treated as a pariah.” SERG further stressed that Igbo youths should be warned by this development, adding that nothing to be gained from supporting terrorist and separatist ideologies as the only region to have allowed that in the country is today full of regrets. He added, “We should rather continue to support the federal government, irrespective of the ethnic group of the person that occupies the office. Igbo youths, leaders and organizations must also apologize to the Nigerian Army that was wrongly accused of killing Kanu when in reality the coward ran away from the country on his volition.” http://www.nigerianeye.com/2018/10/igbo-group-dares-kanu-ipob-over-2019.html |

pazienza:thats OK, we all have friends across board as i also have a lot of Anambra friends i met in medical school and still very good friends till today and even spend some time in their place. you are doing well keep it up, igbo nation will be greater |
pazienza:i do not know where you see the pride here for explaining little things to you in a way you could understand my point and you obviously left the little point i raised, but to clarify you no one looks down on us, it is a personal thing who ever looks down on anybody based on whatever the person uses to make his/her assessment.i would not also comment on your assertions as you obviously missed my points and attempts to clarify you may lead to you misunderstanding me. Maybe i would end the discussion here because it seems i am been misunderstood.peace to all loving and pan-igbo people and peace to you too. |
pazienza:i am not naive in any way, i know the chino guy too and have spoken with him several times even though we have not met, but obviously no one has time to be replying all insultive messages it does not worth the time. That also does not mean if there is an area i should i agree with and i will not |
pazienzai have read all what you said, you wrote well to some extent with some pun which i would obviously ignore, i need to clarify a few thing. Firstly, just as you said every village can not be a state but believe it that regionalism keep places away from development as it is easier for states to look inwards to the different locations within their states unlike in regionalism which is very difficult to do.I will still use Ebonyi to give you example, there were few roads built in Ebonyi as at when it was carved out from Enugu and Abia states respectively , but be it as it maybe Ebonyi has by far more better roads than Abia today just because the state was created and government was now closer to the people,.you can take a tore to Ebonyi and its LGAs and not just the capital city to understand what i am writing about. Good to know. Which means you were formerly from Abia State, and should know how well Ohafia, Abriba people, despite not being close to Enugu, had developed their lands, through human resources development. This your assertion only tells that you are 100% ignorant about Afikpo people as all those neighbours you mentioned are never ahead of Afikpo education wise and wealth wise, you can go do the research on your own on human capital development of the Afikpo people as i have no time to school you on that.No one is envying anyone, Afikpo people never complained to anyone about anything as we are up in our game |
onuebonyi:thank God you agreed on this one ![]() actually I'm beginning to see it that we wasted advancement during regionalism and only empowered the centre, I wonder how Ebonyi would have been if it had been created early( say in the 70s), that's why I feel we shouldn't be talking of regionalism, its cheating IMHO |
I just saw this thread after 3 months I read through, and its really interesting to interact here not minding insults flying around here. I just want to share a little reason why I thinkit seems Ebonyi people don't want regionalism, but rather prefer states as federating units and would even prefer state autonomy to Regional autonomy. My write-up is shouldn't be misunderstood as accusation but here is the simple fact. 1)In regionalism the centre has the lion share of infrastructure and development and this is primarily why it seems a city like Enugu has more infrastructure than any other SE state capital, a state like Ebonyi actually didn't have any infrastructure going to the place of any sort but under the state of its own is able to have some roads, water , hospitals and have its people more employed which was not previously obtainable(not saying Ebonyi has arrived, far from it but gradually on the roadmap) 2)Employment is usually more to the people at the centre, take for instance the workers in regional owned institutions like the Akanu Ibiam Airport, the eastern hotels and many other regional investments had more of the people at the centre of the capital benefit more leaving those afar to wallow in their penury, 3)the taunting nature of the Igbo group.you all can bear witness how easy it is for igbos from more developed areas to cast aspersion on those without much infrastructure, things like there is no single flyover in your place and no single airport in your side.these things bring insults and people wouldn't be comfortable with it, same reason I don't buy into the idea of those saying the Enugu airport should serve igbos when tomorrow SB from Enugu begins to cast aspersion that your own state have no airport, last but not the least, since Nigeria capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja , then why can't the regional capital now be in a place like Ebonyi since we want regionalism, it must not have to remain where it was before mind you I'm from [b]Afikpo-south, LGA of Ebonyi state .. kindly bring in your opinion , I won't respond to insults though, just want a decent discussion within the forum and I'm in no way castigating any eastern state. |
7lives:honestly I like this your post.. |
nice ..but seriously I don't see why Obi should consult Igbo leaders one by one, honestly he should get automatic support, I even saw where ohaneze chairman was saying the group will think over whom to support ...it's inappropriate.. IMHO |

Gov. David Umahi, represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe said in Abakaliki that the agreement included the establishment of a solar power factory in the state. Ebonyi signs $4m solar-system production agreement with Chinese coy The Ebonyi government on Monday signed a four million dollars solar system production agreement with the Foshan Sunchees Energy Company of China. Gov. David Umahi, represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe said in Abakaliki that the agreement included the establishment of a solar power factory in the state. The governor said that the occasion marked the realisation of the state government’s vision and aspiration toward industrialising the state. “Our vision is to make Ebonyi the leading industrialised state in the country as it is the first time in the country that a government is aiming at energising the entire local government areas of a state. “The 13 LGA Chairmen of the state have appended their signatures in support of the project and we assure our citizens that we are not purchasing energy from China,” he said. Umahi said that the agreement was a product of his economic trip to China, saying “the company is reputed globally in solar power manufacturing and distribution. “It will establish a factory to manufacture solar panels in the state and subsequently make Ebonyi, a leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of solar panels in the country. “We are hopeful that in the future, the state will be exporting solar energy beyond Africa,” he said. He pledged that the government would abide with the terms of the agreement and demonstrate a good maintenance culture. “The problem of poor execution and maintenance of projects experienced by most governments in the country is due to lack of due diligence in supervision and maintenance. “The situation is however different with Ebonyi as we will monitor, supervise your work and not rest until you execute all you stipulated in the agreement. “We are eagerly waiting for you to mount the first solar panel factory in the state as this would make our industrial dream come true,” he said. Umahi appreciated the local government chairmen for their diligence and partnership in the project, noting that it would be one of the legacies they would leave behind as council chairmen. Mr Jack Chen, the leader of the Chinese team thanked the state government for its reception and belief in the project, pledging to abide by all the terms of the agreement. “We are happy to be in partnership and sign this agreement with Ebonyi government. “We know the state’s logo to be the ‘Salt of the Nation’ but we hope that in the future, it will be Power of the Nation,” he said. https://amp.pulse.ng/news/local/ebonyi-signs-4m-solar-system-production-deal-with-chinese-coy-id8984070.html

Godswill Obioma, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ebonyi, has described vote-buying as “a virus ” capable of destroying Nigeria's democracy if not `killed.’ News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that he spoke on Tuesday, October 9, in Abakaliki at a meeting between the commission and leaders of registered political parties. NAIJ.com gathers that the election officer also warned stakeholders against vote-buying, vote-selling and all forms of violations of the electoral laws and the electoral guidelines, before, during and after the elections. READ ALSO: Negotiations break down as FG reportedly offers N25,000 as new minimum wage He said: “Vote-buying is a virus, it is the engine that bedevils development, we should collectively destroy the virus before it kills our democracy. “We assure the people of Ebonyi that under our watch, the commission will conduct free, fair, credible and violence-free elections, and that all votes must count.” . According to him, estimated 1,475,387 people are expected to vote in the 2019 general elections in Ebonyi. Obioman, however, said that the final figures would be confirmed after the consolidation of the figures and the process of Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) has been concluded. He explained that the number of registered voters in Ebonyi before the 2017 voter registration stood at 1,117,770, but added that the number increased to 1,475,387 following the additional registration of 357,617 voters during the 2017 /2018 registration. He noted that the consultative meeting was the first since the suspension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). Obioma said that the meeting provided platform to brief the party leaders on preparations to conduct peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible elections, and also brainstorm on ways to make the elections successful in the state. He said: “This meeting is convened to keep the political stakeholders abreast of our preparations for the 2019 elections in Ebonyi and to seek their support. “This is a way of cascading the commission’s policies and programmes to the stakeholders at grassroots and the general public and thus carry all stakeholders, especially political parties along." He also decried the low rate of PVCs collection in the state, and appealed to party leaders to intensify sensitisation and enlightenment campaigns to mobilise registered voters who have yet to collect, to go and get their PVCs. He said: “At the end of 2017; 19,079 PVCs out of 77,397 released by the INEC headquarters were collected by their owners leaving a total of 58,318 unclaimed cards. “In first quarter of 2018; 58,247 PVCs were released for the state; and we are yet to determine the total number collected because collection is still ongoing." The resident commissioner added that only 5,075 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) were claimed out of 47,117 PVCs from the 2014 and 2015 registrations. He said that if all PVCs for the 2017 and 2018 CVR exercise were collected by their legitimate owners, that the state would witness a larger turnout of voters compared to 2015 general elections. https://www.naija.ng/1197132-ebonyi-rec-preaches-vote-buying-describes-virus.html |
