mapet: I sometime wonder at how some of you reason. That Dino Melaye lives in a luxury Apartment and has good cars is a clear cut difference from the contentious issue of the pending introduction of the 5k note. Don't some of you pause to reason and check the OPs intent before jumping into the fray?

1. What is the OPs contention with Dino Melaye's quality of living?
2. Is there a Nexus between his supposed wealth and a stated fraud case?
3. Showing picture of his house and cars are downright low. Besides there is no big deal in that house, that we've not seen elsewhere. An average middle income earner can replicate something close to that in outskirts of Ibafo, Sango, Ikorodu etc. If you've built a house or involved with one, you'll know many of the assessories used in finishing can be bought in the Suru Alaba Open Market, mostly imported from China, Turkey, Malaysia etc
4. Have you confirmed if the house was rented or official quarters when he was a senator
5. So that he is rich, disqualifies him from fighting on behalf of the masses......you guys are simply pathetic

I would have thought we should commend Dino Melaye for playing his part in mobilizing and sensitizing the populace on some of the negative effects of the new 5k
note. At least he has risen up and done something, not just sitting behind his PC like you lots, and typing senseless rubbish.

if he didnt acquire all this, where will he be now? probably writing one or two proposals? or seeking for ways to beta his life and that of his family? c'mon broda, we arent fools na...he shud go to d print and electronic media, giv and analyse some economic theories concerning this policy thereby sensitizing the public, i believe thats a beta way. beta wake up ur ideas and desist frm running ur mouth like tap water undecided

In a bid to seek political relevance, Dino melaye went all the way to hire almajiris boys to join him in carrying out his selfish and manipulated protest...Nigerians have suddenly come to realise how insincere he is, right from when he was in NASS upto when he led the fuel subsidy protest in Jan.it is on record that the leaders of this protest were later given millions of naira which melaye used in acquiring luxurious houses, and customize cars, while d poor masses who chanted and screamed their voices out went back home koboless. oxford: It would also be recalled that Buhari's present protege, the controversial former minister of the FCT, Malam Nasir Elrufai, had in October of 2010 accused Buhari of a litany of improper acts. To quote Elrufai, he had said of Buhari that " That same prejudice accounts for the baseless claims of corruption Buhari levels against El Rufai. The fact is that Mallam El-Rufai served Nigeria with integrity and has never been convicted of any corrupt act. He is boldly contesting the false charges which the Yar’Adua government filed against him in court. It is strange that a Buhari who protests when unproven claims of N2.5 billion (about US $3billion in those days!) missing oil funds are levelled against him can gleefully elevate similar claims into facts when it concerns another. How would Buhari feel if the corruption allegations made against him by Group Captain Usman Jibrin, then a board member of PTF, are today reported as if they were proven facts? So much for “corrupt background” and “shoddy performance”.

Mallam El-Rufai wishes to remind General Buhari that he has remained perpetually unelectable because his record as military head of state, and afterwards, is a warning that many Nigerians have wisely heeded. His insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his parochial focus are already well-known. In 1984, Buhari allowed 53 suitcases belonging to his ADC’s father to enter Nigeria unchecked at a time the country was exchanging old currency for new. Against all canons of legal decency, he used retroactive laws to execute three young men for drug-peddling after they were convicted by a military tribunal and not regular courts of law. Buhari was so high handed that he gave himself and his officials immunity even from truthful reporting. That obnoxious Decree 4, against which truth was no defence, was used to jail journalists and attempt to cow the media as a whole. That tyrannical legislation shows the essence of his intolerance. These are facts of recent history".

thereafter he proclaimed that Buhari was d only president Nigeria needed, abeg abeg abeg, dat was so sad...insecerity in d highest order...that man Rufia is a cat, u no how cats behave?find out..a quintessential character of a cat is he.

itz quite unfortunate that Nnaji resigned, he was a hard working man, and every right thinking person here will agree with me without prejudice that power situation in naija improved tremendously during his tenure, and i think he really deserves commendation...however, looking at his resignation or alleged sack, i blame him cos he was very much aware of the code of ethics governing privatization, but he stl went ahead to front his company, no doubt he wud hav bin most situable for the job or otherwise, but no Nigerian wud believe that he got it out of merit, pple wil believe that he used his office to manipulate it, YES! it will even b deliberated here on NL, alots of comment wud hav bin raised sayin all sorts of things, he wud hav allowed dis opportunity pass him and probably make provision to fit in when out of office, probably a prize for goverance, knowing fully well that his antecedence will mspeak for him someday, anyways i wish him al d best in his endeavors...Nigeria is in a process of cleansing and every thing done whether in govt or anywhere shud b done with fairness, equity and accountability, and things will surely get beta.
Entertainment / Why I Will Not Perform At D’banj’s UK Concert – Davido by MurphyT1: 4:50pm On Aug 28, 2012
Davido has released a statement, explaining why he will not be performing at D’Banj’s show on Monday evening in the UK. The Dami Duro crooner, said that he has not been granted the required work permit by the British Embassy.

“I regret to let you know that I will not be performing along side my most respected big brother and friend D’BANJ at the scheduled show of August 27, 2012 in London,” the statement read.

“I am both a Nigerian citizen, as well as an American citizen, I carry both the Nigerian and the American passports. As an American citizen, I do not require a visa to enter the United Kingdom, however I require a work permit in the UK for any paid performance such as the scheduled August 27, 2012 in London, that is the law in the United Kingdom.

“I applied for a work permit at the British Embassy in Abuja/Lagos but unfortunately up till the close of business on Friday August 24, 2012 I was unable to obtain a work permit, as a result I have to cancel my performance and my trip to the United Kingdom altogether.

“I apologize for the inconvenience and the disappointment, but be rest assured that I will make it up to you all on a future date. You will agree with me that it is better to be law abiding at all times and in every jurisdiction.

Politics / SHOCKING REVELATIONS OF BUHARI!!! by MurphyT1: 10:52am On Aug 28, 2012
Below are some of the fradulent and corrupt practices Buhari engaged in during his reign in office and out of office.

Buhari Stole More Than any Nigerian.
**he stole $2.8b as Petroleum minister, Money found in his UK Bank.
**overthrow Shagari to cover his looting in oil minister.
**He locked up Nigerians who try to expose his stealing.

**OBJ scraped PTF over Buhari's misappropriation of over N2.5 billion

Shagari's regime (1979-1983), incurred Buhari's wrath when it decided to investigate the US$2.8 billion (current value $68billion) that disappeared from the Midland Bank, London account of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, (NNPC), during General Obasanjo's era as military head of state that preceded Shagari's.

Dr. Olusola Saraki, Turaki of Ilorin, was the majority party leader of the Senate at the time and he headed the Senate Committee set up to trace the stolen money after some three years of clamour for such an investigation by members of the civil society. The money was traced to the Midland Bank London branch fixed account of Buhari, Obasanjo's appointee as military head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.
The Committee's report was presented to the Senate during the tail end of Shagari's regime in 1983, so the House decided to deal with the matter soon after the 1983 general elections.

The attempt at civilian-to-civilian transition provided the fillip for mayhem at the time. The elections were marred by massive rigging because incumbent political office holders were refusing to slacken their stranglehold on Nigeria Plc., mortgaged as the leaders private property. On the 31st December, 1983, Buhari struck under the cover of the political commotion that trailed the presidential election results. Buhari generally had no agenda for leadership but vendetta against those he called critics and rabble-rousers. Buhari did not see any moral wrong in his conversion of our oil money into his personal use.
Rather he railed at the press and what he described as the self-righteous sections of the country for making a big deal out of the issue. He locked up without trial, politicians and critics including Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, notorious for clamouring for the exposure of the oil money rogue.
Satire saved my neck at the time. Vera Ifudu, who was an NTA reporter then, was sacked through his prodding as military ruler, for reporting what Dr. Olusola Saraki had told her in an interview about how the missing money was traced to Buhari's account at a Midland Bank London branch. Vera eventually won her case of wrongful dismissal in court against the NTA and was financially compensated.

Abacha rehabilitated Buhari with the chairmanship of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) before he (Abacha) died in 1998. When Obasanjo returned to power in May 1999 as civilian president, he found that over 2.5 billion naira had not been properly accounted for in the PTF and that there was not much on the ground to show for the colossal expenditure the agency was claiming.

On the day Obasanjo announced the scrapping of the PTF, a non-staff brother-in-law of the boss, allegedly serving as his conduit on some PTF projects, died suddenly from what appeared to be heart failure. Haruna Adamu, who was appointed by Obasanjo to investigate the PTF before finally consigning it to the dung heap, allegedly quickly pocketed one hundred million naira (N100million) of PTF's money before operating table could be set up for him, thus forcing Obasanjo to hurriedly close the place down without further investigations.
Buhari has been trying desperately since to return to power, perhaps to get a chance to shred the PTF documents?

The truth behind Skype for the BlackBerry

Do you want to make FREE calls on your BlackBerry?

There are a number of Skype compatible applications which you can load onto your BlackBerry in an effort to contact others in a new and innovative way.

Are these applications worthy of your hard earned dollars, or even a free trial download?

Can our BlackBerry devices even handle the types of calls we are going to try and make?

Lets find out!

The Big Deal about Skype on the BlackBerry
So there is a big deal being made about having the ability to access Skype functionality on your BlackBerry. I myself have only used it as a curiosity on my PC at home, in an attempt to keep in touch with friends in South America. Due to a long series of technical glitches, my friends and I decided to abandon that particular method of communication at the time.

When I was asked to write this article, I thought to myself, “It would be great to be able to make free calls on my BlackBerry”. I then thought back to my troubling experience with Skype the first time around. Perhaps they have grown and will be more stable. Perhaps this will be an easy process this time around and Skype will actually enhance my life as so many other people have claimed it has enhanced theirs.

To tell you the truth folks, I am not really holding my breath on this one.

The Real Deal on Skype for your BlackBerry
The processor which is used in the most recent BlackBerry devices (Xscale) is only 312Mhz. This is nowhere near the 400 Mhz which Skype requires as a minimum for operation. Clearly these applications are jumping through a few hoops to bring you a pseudo Skype experience.

Additionally, all of these applications claim to allow you to make Skype calls from your BlackBerry. These statements, while technically true are very misleading. Your calls are not free in any sense of the word. You will be charged in two separate locations for your calling activities.

The first hit you will take is on your phone plan. The Skype client does not work the way it is implied. Instead of limiting access to just data functionality while placing a Skype call on your BlackBerry, the various software solutions will actually place a call to your BlackBerry, which then call out to complete the connection.

Does this not contradict the entire purpose of loading the software onto your BlackBerry in the first place?

The second place you will notice a hit is in your SkypOut credits. It sounds like such a sweet deal, sign up for an unlimited Skype account (Just under $30), ditch your phone plan and just keep the data. You will be be making calls left right and center and all your friends will be jealous of your low cellphone bills.

The reality is that each call you make is deducted from your SkypeOut credits. If you have no credits left — no call for you!

My Conclusions
In conclusion, I have to say that I will be staying far, far away from any of the current Skype applications for the BlackBerry. Do I make international calls on my BlackBerry? I sure do, but it is much more convenient (and economic) for me to just buy a calling card with kick ass rates whenever I know I’ll be communicating overseas.

It just makes no sense to me that I should pay for a Skype account and everything that entails, just so I can make calls at a slightly cheaper rate than normal. All this while still burning the minutes alloted to me by my provider.

I am sure that there are certain instances where the use of these applications would in fact come in handy. For people who find themselves wanting and needing Skype access from their BlackBerry on a regular basis, by all means, Skype away!

For everyone else, stick to Skyping on your desktop.

Phones / Blackberry Users Get Option Of Radio, Stylish 9320, 9220 Smartpones by MurphyT1: 11:34am On Aug 22, 2012
FOR those in love with Blackberry sets of smarphones, they may have been provided with a unique alternative of getting socially connected as Research In Motion (RIM) has introduced into the market two sleek, stylish, but relatively affordable new smartphones – Curve 9320 and Curve 9220.

When journalists were recently introduced to the new phones, little did many of them realised they were holding one of the wonders of the communication world.

Designed to be easy to use and easy to own, the new Curve models (9220 and 9320) offer Blackberry users an outstanding combination of features and apps to help them stay connected to the people and information that matter most to them.

Boasting of key features, which include preloaded apps for Facebook and Twitter, allowing users to easily interact with their friends and other contacts in real time, the phones have the new Social Feeds 2.0 app, allowing users to post updates to multiple social networks simultaneously and capture updates from news sources (RSS), social apps and instant messaging apps all in one consolidated view.

The 9320 built-in FM radio that does not use data services, thereby guaranteeing user easy tune into favorite local stations, as well as an integrated camera, which supports video recording.

Pictures taken with the BlackBerry Curve 9320 can also be tagged with their location, thanks to the smartphone’s built-in GPS.

Overall, there isn’t much that the BlackBerry Curve 9320 doesn’t do. Apart from the lack of NFC, now a feature of high-end BB handsets, and a touch interface, users are assured of getting everything that Blackberry offers. Sure, one may not get the best hardware –– the device isn’t the best when it comes to build and specification –– but it more than make up for this; it is a very affordable smartphone.

Apart from its affordability, Curve 9320 promises a long battery life with up to 7 hours of talk time or up to 28 hours of FM radio listening or music playback with headphones (music playback is rated at up to 30 hours on the BlackBerry Curve 9320). The phone’s built-in Wi-Fi connectivity also assures easy wireless connectivity.

The Regional Director for East, West and Central Africa at Research In Motion, Waldi Wepener, noting that BlackBerry Curve smartphones have been extremely popular in Nigeria, while offering affordable access to BBM and other popular social networks, declared that the new compact and stylish BlackBerry Curve models offer improved battery life and a truly unique messaging and social networking experience that will appeal especially to Nigerian users who want to upgrade to a smartphone for the first time, or existing BlackBerry Curve customers looking for a step up in speed and functionality.
