Resigning is the normal and next logical step, when you are ACCUSED of an infraction, as a public officer (I know you Nigerians are not used to that system), to allow proper investigation and not to impede investigations.

So she was advised to resign... I understand you well when public office holders in other society resign when there is a controversy to allow for investigation but most times this is done because the said person crime is likely true... Because I know severally when innocent people from other nations are accused but choose to defend themselves with due processes but not necessarily resigning...

She could have exonerated herself but she choose not too because she had no case to present... Her legal team would have advised her that she had little chance succeeding in the court which will bring embarrassment... So she most have been advised to resign which is normal when a public servant is involved in a controversy... Her public image is already tarnished because she will be remembered as the minister that forged a certificate
