Yes, they could not validate her payment because the payment is no longer valid because your mum has used it on August 2024 as recorded by the embassy, though she did not attend the interveiw but she did not also notify the embassy so it was counted as a deliberate action.

Cancel all pending appointment and start all over again. If mama is losing anything that would be old information. Therefore, start afresh by filling another DS-160 form for mum, generate a new visa fee payment and pay. Then after 24hrs log back to book her new appointment.

It's been over 2 months I raised a ticket and they said it had been escalated, the ticket is still open yet the issue has not been addressed.

Please everyone, I have been trying to reschedule my mom's appointment but have been unsuccessful. For context, she had an interview booked for Dec 5th which was later rescheduled by the Embassy to August 13th (ALL THIS BEFORE THE MIGRATION). Unfortunately, she was not at in Nigeria and could not meet that new date and her profile/MRV receipt was not opened until the date of the migration and so we had to wait out the migration process.
Eventually, I created a new profile for her on the USVITS site and since then, I have been unable to schedule an appointment date for her. It keeps stopping at "duplicate info found for user", I do not understand how?
Did anyone face this challenge? How did you address it? Please note that I am currently not in Nigeria so I cannot call support, also I have raised several tickets but support is not giving me any tangible solution except the usual create a profile and pay.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Please let us give people the full picture and stop misleading them.

This particular quoted article clearly shows it is a term insurance that was renewed at an older age.
Most term policies ate for between 10-20 years and offer the options of renewal or convertibility.
Term policies are cheaper in the beginning, do not offer renewal options after age 65-70, and upon expiration of one term offers a higher premium.
For example, at age 30 you purchase a term 20 policy that costs $75, after 20 years your premium increases astronomically to as high as $300-$500 because you would be at age 50.
At this stage, most policyholders opt out and end up getting nothing but with permanent life insurance policies -whole life and universal policies- there is an option of your premium (even though initially higher than the term policy) having an investment component which builds a cash value from which money can be drawn either as a policy loan or a collateral loan and you definitely do not need to pay back this loan during your lifetime. Also, the interest from the loan can be deducted from your income tax when filed with the CRA.
There's a whole lot more benefit that I can not delve into because of the constraints of typing but my biggest advice to everyone is be very wary of those pushing term life insurance.
The insurance companies prefer to sell these term policies because there is a higher chance of them not paying out any benefits than permanent life insurance policies.

Please educate yourself as Immigrants and do not fall for these agents that want to make a quick buck selling term insurance when your financial needs analysis shows you have a permanent need that needs coverage.

1. Did you follow the instructions? The instructions says ; visit the website , sign up , choose payment option , and pay MRV before you can schedule an appointment.

2. If your mom has previous appointment date, then she does not need to visit the new website yet. She should just relax and be waiting for an instructional email from the embassy (which will guide mama on how to proceed).

3. If the sense 1 is not working yet , please give them time , today is the 2nd day. There are very likely ongoing update .

So I initially booked drop-off on the former site but they sent a mail about picking a date for interview. The initial visa interview was Dec 5th and they rescheduled to August 13th which she couldn't attend because she is not in Nigeria, but they did not open her MRV/profile for rescheduling till Aug 16th(which they stated in their mail would be availablewithin 24-72hrs), then the service transfer. Now I have created a profile for her on this AVITS site and done the 'create application' but that doesn't even apply to her case because her visa just expired in March.
I can't create and pay a new MRV when the last one hasn't been used.

Please does anyone have a customer care number for their Lagos office please?

I'll suggest you wait till the new website comes up on August 26. If you scroll up the thread, people successfully rebooked interviews after missing the mail informing them their appointment had been rescheduled. The email informing me my appointment had been rescheduled also said I could rebook (after the appointment date) if the new date wasn't convenient. I didn't have to rebook though.

You can also try to reach customer service again to update them on the issue you encountered when trying to rebook the appointment.

I saw they responded to my mail late on Friday saying request to reschedule was granted. However, the website has been unresponsive. I guess I would have to wait till August 26th then for the new website.

Hi guys! I need your advice.
My mom's interview was initially scheduled for December 5th, 2024 but was rescheduled to August 13th, 2024 by the US embassy and she is not in Nigeria presently. I sent them a feedback complaining about the abrupt change and they replied that I could reschedule it 24-72hours after the said date.
Now I have been refreshing the ustraveldocs site since 13th to reschedule but it has not given me that option.
I tried setting up a new appointment with the receipt number but it said unrecognized.
I don't know what else to do.

I very much second this and I am particularly glad a lot of people recognise that a large portion of investing capital should be allocated to safer investments (like indexes). Yes, they are boring but boring is a key feature of good risk management and long term investment success. There is a saying by Howard Marks, a legendary investor with Oaktree Capital: "There are old investors, and there are bold investors, but there are no old bold investors".

If you only have $100 - $500 to play with and you can afford to lose it, then I can see why risky stocks/cryptos might make sense as a YOLO trade. But the larger your wealth is or if it's capital you can't afford to lose, the less chances you should take.

Maybe you should try to check the price of others in the market including foreign used, also compare the mileage. Please note that some of the foreign used have an accident history but mine was shipped without such issues and I have maintained it excellently.
