Fix your gas mask first before helping others!

Brings to memory an unfortunate incident where an Italian couple tried to pull out their son from a volcano and they all end up consumed.

It's not easy to leave the son thou!
Let's pray we don't have to make such decisions in life.

Politics / With Biafra, Igbo’ll Remain In Nigeria, Says Nnamdi Kanu by MysticalTee(m): 8:01am On Jul 25, 2017
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday, said Igbo must not vacate the North, or any other part of the country, as a condition for the actualisation of the agitation for Biafra.

The IPOB leader spoke in an interview with some journalists in Enugu, where he received awards from a number of pan-Igbo groups, including the Igbo Women Assembly, the Eastern Consultative Assembly and the Igbo Students Union.

Reacting to the ‘quit notice’ issued to Igbo in the North by a coalition of Arewa youths, Kanu noted that secession from Nigeria did not imply that Igbo must leave the North, or other part of the country as suggested by the ultimatum issued by the northern youths.

He said, “You are aware that Scotland is seeking to leave the United Kingdom? Are you remotely implying that every person from Scotland, who lives in England, should now return to Scotland?

“Britain just left the EU. Are you now implying that every British citizen in the EU should come back to Britain in order to finalise that process of extraction of Britain from the EU?”

Kanu noted that what he described as “poor education” was responsible for the impression that Igbo must leave other parts of Nigeria in the event of the actualisation of Biafra.

The Biafran agitator added that he would not take issue with the Arewa youths, who he described as “inconsequential.”

Kanu, nonetheless, warned that Igbo, who resided in the North, were doing so at their own peril.

According to him, Igbo resident in the North are “sacrificial lambs” who could be killed at any moment.

Asked if Igbo in the North should ignore the notice to quit, the IPOB leader stated, “It is up to them. They have been in the North, and they (northerners) have been killing us (Igbo) since 1945.

“If you choose to live in the North, you choose to be a sacrificial lamb because one day, they will kill you. It is a choice they have made and they will have to live with it.”

Kanu insisted that the governorship poll in Anambra State, scheduled to hold on November 18, 2017, would not hold unless the Federal Government acceded to pro-Biafran agitators’ demand for a referendum.

Asked if he was not bothered that Ohanaeze Ndigbo had overruled his call for the boycott of the poll, Kanu said he was in charge of the people “100 per cent.”

He added, “No, I’m not (bothered) because the people are with us. We control the people 100 per cent and come Anambra, on the 18th of November, 2017, the whole world will be amazed.”

Although he said he was certain that the people of Anambra would boycott the election, Kanu said IPOB did not intend to stop anybody who decided to vote.

“We are entirely peaceful. We are not stopping anyone from voting. If you want to vote, you can go and vote. We are democrats,” he said.

Kanu added that the planned referendum would, once and for all, settle the debate between Biafra and restructuring.

The IPOB leader said, “We are calling for a referendum so that the people can actually decide, once and for all, what they want, for themselves; not anybody deciding for them.

“I have not argued Biafra from the standpoint of absolutism. I am not saying you must vote for Biafra. I am asking the powers that be in Nigeria to allow the people to determine for themselves.”

Reacting to his bail conditions, the IPOB leader said the court, which barred him from granting interviews, could not stop him from speaking.

He said, “I am not giving an interview, I am responding to the question you asked me. The judge is a very learned fellow. She cannot stop me from speaking.”

Earlier, Kanu had assured a delegation of the Igbo Women Assembly, led by Mrs. Maria Okwor, that the menace posed by Fulani herdsmen in parts of the South-East “would come to an end before the end of the year.”

He equally told members of the Igbo Students Union, who honoured him with the title of ‘Light of the People’, to join IPOB and propagate the struggle for Biafra on the social media.

Meanwhile, IPOB, on Monday, alleged that some top politicians were plotting to kill Kanu, its leader, and other principal officers of the group.

It said huge amount of money and political patronages had been offered to certain people to execute the plot.

In a statement by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB said any attack on Kanu would radicalise the Biafra struggle in a manner nobody could stop.

The group named certain governors, an elder statesman, a socio-cultural organisation, a security chief and a religious head as some of those masterminding the plot.

The statement added, “But we promise them that any attack on Nnamdi Kanu or assassination attempt will radicalise the struggle for Biafran independence to the point which no one can contain.

“We are reminding those evil plotters that if anything happens to our leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who has been using non-violent methods for Biafran liberation since the inception of IPOB, that they will experience what they have not seen before since the creation of the contraption called Nigeria by the British.”

Politics / Dino Melaye Hires Mike Ozekhome To Stop His Recall In Court by MysticalTee(m): 9:39pm On Jun 23, 2017
Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi West Senatorial district has filed a lawsuit at the Federal high Court in Abuja seeking a court injunction to halt his recall from the Senate.

According to SaharaReporters sources, a panic-stricken Melaye had been shopping for a judge in the last 48 hours that could grant an injunction to halt the process after word reached him that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was meeting to decide on an appropriate response to the submission of more 188,000 signatures to their headquarters on Wednesday from his constituents who wanted him recalled from the Nigerian Senate.

On Thursday INEC issued a statement notifying the public that it will be verifying the signatures on July 3rd 2017. The commission also wrote to Melaye notifying him of the official commencement of the recall exercise.

Mr. Melaye’s lawyers today filed a 33-page legal argument seeking to obtain injunctive reliefs from the court. The application was accompanied by an affidavit of urgency filed by a staff of Mr. Ozekhome’s law firm.

The most painful part was that I had to travel from PH to Lag for the so called interview.

I can relate with all these Op. Was a Batch B 2010 corper and I served in a Secondary school in Udi, Udi LGA.

Water has you righlty pointed was a big issue then. We had a tanker which supplied the corper's lodge at about a weekly basis, depending on our financial status.

Unfortunately, the schools are as you said. Most public (and even some private) schools are run with youth corpers. This as we all know have adverse effects on the academic standards of the students.

I never experienced tribalism throughout my stay. Having lived in almost all our geopolitical zones in Nigeria, I wonder where some of us get the tribal hatred which we so display on social media nowadays.

Okpa o Okpa, what a life saver it was coupled with my coke grin

Udi LGA has a handful of industries though. With the likes of Coca-Cola, Nigerian Breweries, Pepsi, Guinness, Aqua-Rapha and some more, most of which are located in 9th Mile.

However, power supply was the best gift I think I had back then. It was so steady that whenever it was disrupted, we usually counted down in minutes and it's restored.

I still miss teaching the students and I'll love to go back in the nearest future, hoping to see much more development.

I don't know about the babes some are citing ooo lipsrsealed grin

Jobs/Vacancies / Experience Of A Job Seeker by MysticalTee(m): 4:12pm On Feb 17, 2017
I'm sure this is only one of the several things job seekers face in this country.

Here is a young Nigerian who got laid-off mid last year amidst all the global and country's woes.

He has applied for numerous job openings. One fateful day, he got a message for an interview from one of his numerous applications. He stays in PHC the interview was to hold in Lag.
The msg came a day before the interview so he had to fly down.

Having prepared mentally, physically, prayerfully and with some slight hopes in mind, he got to the interview centre to discover the whole thing was a fake and fraudulent setup by the so called marketing coys.

They called themself PRO-GROUP HOLDINGS with the office at 27 Ayodele Ojo Str, By Traffic Light B/S, Coker Rd, ilupeju Lagos (company name was not given online, it was via some 'recruiters' )

Here is their strategy: they put up job offers (not relating to their marketing or whatever) online in the regular job sites, the unsuspecting public apply, they send messages for interview.

This is my story. I am on my way back to PHC via road as I type this, obviously dejected but not hopeless. (Wasted little money that I am managing to maintain the home and take care of pregnant wify)

Just to let you know, I got another interview invite to one of the jobs (different company o) I applied for right here in the car. And unsurprisingly, it's to hold at the same venue. My mind was like these people should be punished for these kind of acts.

I just wonder how long and how much longer these kind will continue such acts!

Lalasticlala, Mynd44; can you please let people learn from this experience, Thanks!
Sports / Ref Gives Player Red Card For Bumping Into Him by MysticalTee(m): 10:00pm On Jan 05, 2017
Sometimes there is just no justice in soccer. When a referee makes a horrible call, everyone has no choice but to deal with it. And on Tuesday, we got a new contender for the Worst Referee Decision Ever.

Porto player Danilo was minding his own business in the 79th minute against Moreirense when referee Luis Godinho bumped into him. The ref’s reaction? To give Danilo a second yellow card and send him off.

Danilo, as you might expect, was not too pleased with the decision. He posted a video clip of the ref bumping into him with a statement: “I reviewed the footage a hundred times and can honestly not understand the criteria of this gentleman’s decision.”

The video evidence is pretty darn clear and it’s easy to see why Danilo is upset. (The red comes out of the ref’s pocket after the clip ends.)

Danilo was tracking back with his eyes focused on the action up the pitch when the referee, doing the same thing, bumped into him. Danilo doesn’t seem to notice the person who ran into him is the referee and instinctively pushed him away, but it was hardly a violent reaction.

The card may have affected the outcome of the match, too: Porto lost to Moreirense, 1-0. Harsh.

Maybe when video replay is made official, it will prevent these sorts of ridiculous red cards from happening. But that is cold comfort for Danilo.

To see the video you can go to the link for the story.

I don't know what to call this. Some may see it as romantic while others may say there's friction in the home. Anyways, you need to see how a husband and wife passed across some info about home setup - interesting. Please read below:

From the wife-

"Dear sir,
I am writing this letter,to let enquire about when we would fix things in the house.
Last year, we agreed to fix the wallpaper, dinningtable, centerpiece, curtains or blind and stool. I think we should start all necessary plans in researching about the price and setting all things, the earlier the better since we have decided to retain our present flat.
Thank you, I look forward to a reply from you.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs TAO"

The husband's reply-

"Dear Wife,
Thanks for the show of concern for the conditions of our house, it is very well appreciated.
Having agreed to maintain this apartment, I agree with you that it is vital to commence with the proper set up of the flat.
The first step will be to make a list of all the items we will need to get, followed up by doing market surveys to know the cost implications. We can then go ahead to purchase them with respect to our budget having in mind the scale of preference of the items.
We can start with the list today. Market surveys will come up subsequently.

Your hubby,
---------"

Politics / Federal Agencies Can’t Cow Me, Says Governor Wike by MysticalTee(m): 9:25pm On Dec 23, 2016
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, says ‘no level of intimidation or blackmail from Federal Agencies will scare him into selling out the state to external predators’.

The governor urged Rivers people not to panic, insisting that nobody can take the state by force despite what he called sustained blackmail by the Police and the Department of State Services ( DSS).

At a meeting with the Rivers State Elders Council of Ministers (RISECOM), Governor Wike said: “This is a turbulent period. However, we will overcome. They can cow other governors, but not me.

“None of them gave me the mandate. The people of Rivers State gave me this mandate and I will never sell the interest of this state for whatever reason. I will not bring out the money of Rivers State to sponsor other people outside the state,” he stated.

Governor Wike told the Christian leaders that security agencies were frustrating the security architecture of the state to further their devilish plot to declare a state of emergency and thereafter bring a lackey to loot the state.

He denied sponsoring anyone to protest in Abuja against the Federal Government, pointing out that those who planned to protest in his favour must have taken a cue from those who protested against him in Abuja.

“If they like, let them bring all manner of accusations daily, it will not cow me. Three days ago, they sponsored protests against me in Abuja with the Police leading the protesters.

“It is so unfortunate how they can descend so low . The DSS are unhappy because I stopped them from kidnapping a judge. Till today, they are yet to invite that particular judge”.

“I never sponsored anyone to protest. Assuming, people want to protest, are we not in a democracy?

“If I am the one who is the sponsor of the planned protest in my favour, who sponsored the protests against me. It means they are the people who sponsored the protests,” he claimed.

He assured the Christian leaders that he remained committed to the development of the state and the welfare of its people.

In his remarks , leader of RISECOM, Archbishop of Niger Delta Province, Most Reverend Ignatius Kattey, commended the governor for his developmental strides in the state.

On his part, the Methodist Archbishop of Port Harcourt, Most Reverend Agwu, urged the governor to stand firm despite the persecution.

Politics / Why PMB Didnt Attend The South-East Economic And Security Summit In Enugu - Pres by MysticalTee(m): 9:12pm On Dec 23, 2016
Contrary to media reports alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari snubbed the recent South-East Economic and Security Summit in Enugu, below is the accurate account:

The President was presented with a request to attend the Economic and Security Summit by the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

The President happily accepted. The visit to Enugu was scheduled for Thursday 22nd as can be found on the weekly programme. After this was done, some other stakeholders from the South East came and advised him not to go in view of the closeness of the date to Christmas; given the sensitivity of the period to the people, a presidential visit may come with overexertion and possibly, be disruptive of Christmas.

In view of this, President Buhari requested that the event be pushed forward to January 2017. Given his nature, he did not insist. He said if the change of date is not possible, then the event could go on without him. That is what the organizers chose to do.

The President did not, and he absolutely has no reason to snub anyone.
