Hi,
I don't know if you've gotten the accommodation situation settled, but you can try the link below. They often ask the applicant to send requests pretty early, but i hope you find something, best of luck !

In developed countries with right thinking individuals, this would earn him voter points. This is a candidate who wants to go the extra mile in communicating with the electorate, sensible people would have used this an an opportunity to table their demands and expectations MATURELY, but no! Not Nigerians! Everything is a joke to us, it's no surprise our leaders don't take us seriously and continue to treat us with impunity.

"lose admission"?
One you haven't even gotten and CANNOT be certain that you'd get?
So you'd rather have someone already admitted miss a date because it's "survival of the fittest" way to go! It's a wonder anyone is surprised that we are still treated like savages by the western world. That the option to book online was made without requesting for the applicants admission letter is because you're EXPECTED to be REASONABLE and already have a resumption date, you can't clog a system because of a "maybe" case in point; I got admitted in December for a program in March, couldn't get a date until February, now people are getting dates in December because bookings are being Canceled If only people with admissions were making bookings, the whole back and forth wouldn't be. if you still don't see the problem with this, then there's nothing I can do for you, selah!

Kenechill:

I disagree with you. So people should lose admissions because of being considerate
A lot of people lost winter admission last year cos their school didn't extend the deadline. Imagine if they had booked in anticipation.

Life generally is survival of the fittest. The embassy people that made these online booking available did it for situations like this. So you won't need an admission letter to actually book. Saves a lot people the pain of losing admission.
They provided the option of email for those who already have admission. U can use that my dear smiley
But saying people are inconsiderate is unfair

I do understand your need to educate others on the other option, however, don't you think it'll serve everyone better if only those with admissions booked?
When an applicant finally decides to cancel, don't you think it'll be too late for whoever would have gotten that spot?
This might be a faceless forum, but people take the advice they get from here seriously, therefore if we encourage the culture of booking when admission is given, it'll save everyone the stress and help hasten up the process.

Opinionator:

I booked only after getting admitted but on realizing it's possible to do so while waiting, I thought to share because the folks here might as well be made aware of the "work around." Instead of just waiting till God-knows-when.
There's provision to cancel and if done properly, I believe the date becomes available.

I've been in that situation, had my admission but getting a date was a horrible experience, dates had already been taken, even by people who hadn't gotten admitted. Apparently the email system of applying is back up, so you might not understand how it really feels waiting up for dates and being told that they've all been taken, only to see someone proudly state that they booked a date even though they haven't gotten any admission.
It's this mentality that has actually kept us where we are as a people.

This is a totally selfish way of approaching the issue, doing this clogs the system, hindering those who ACTUALLY HAVE THEIR ADMISSION.
We should try to be considerate in all we do.

Opinionator:

Right now, the earliest application date one can get is mid-March which is just about a month from the enrollment deadline of most schools. Keep in mind that not every school gives an extension. So imagine schools handing out admissions in February. What then should that applicant do?

PS: why do people assume almost everyone here is a guy? I'm not a "bro" please.

Yes I applied with my TOEFL result. That response means that the department is still deciding if they want to admit the candidate (if yes, they'll send an invitation to a Skype interview, which is the test of aptitude) after which they'll then finalize on the candidate's admission status.

chy73:
Also did you use a language certificate to apply? If you did what was your score. She is in level C1 now which says decision being prepared for aptitude test or not. What does that mean for her. Thanks in advance for your response

I applied on the 16th of October 2018, paid the fee Friday of that week, took them about a week to acknowledge receipt of payment. I got the notification of Skype interview about 20 days after my documents were received, after the interview I received the notification of admission on the 3rd of December 2018,hope this helps.

chy73:

I'm just reading this. Pls when did you apply and how long till you were admitted.

So I’m looking to apply to Technische Universität Ilmenau (TU Ilmenau) with MA Media and Communication Science as my course of interest. Please I need people who have had first hand first hand experience applying to this school/course or current students there. I need proper guidance on how to go about my application.

Lol, they're à perfect fit for my interests, so I didn't apply for any other. I got the admission since last year though. I honestly think they're a great school, just heavily research inclined. The city is also very affordable and comfortable.

fabiosmart:

Thanks,
Are you still settling for them or you've got a better option?
Travel / Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 5 by Mystique20(f): 9:06pm On Jan 11, 2019
If I remember correctly, mine took about 5 days. But you can call the international office to confirm.

fabiosmart:

Hi My Lady,

Read you applied to TU Ilmenau in your previous post, please how long does it take you to get response from them after payment

Thanks

I'm proud of you darling!!

Fabcol:
I am not mad

A 2.7 or 2.8 Nigeria cgpa is not up to a 2.5 German cgpa
To get a perfect 2.50 German cgpa you need a 3.0 Nigeria cgpa
Tho a 2.88 Nigeria cgpa would give u a 2.59 German cgpa which most German university coverts to 2.50..anything less than a 2.88 can never give you a 2.5 German cgpa

Dont be full of yourself no one knows all..moreover we are all here to learn and if u think you have learned everything simply stop coming here rather than replying people rudely..well I want to believe you are more matured than this. if u are having a bad day that lead to such response, I pray God solve your problems or whatever it is bothering you cause a normal person can't act this way.

Cheers!! cool

Your first mistake (one that doesn't make you sound as informed as you're trying to appear)is thinking that you have access to "ALL THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE OR MIGHT NEED"
Drink some cold water, We learn everyday.

dolpaz:

I don't need any information. I Have lots of information at my disposal and have been helping/advising people since 2012. So learn to think. I'm here in DE and know what's obtainable but since you don't know me.. I'll let you wallow in your ignorance.

You could do yourself a favour if you're not part of the lazy Nigerian youth to read my previous post on this platform.

Peace out

I don't think you should have clicked the first option, except of course your degree is from a German university. If I understand those options, the second is your best bet.

Hey guys.

If you pay the normal fintina blocked amount plus the extras that now adds up to 8829 euros, will fintiba also issue an health insurance certificate for you with that package or there is another package for that?

All the best darling, you'll be fine

Thank you. I did the interview at 11:50am. Waiting to hear back from them.

Go girl!!!!

They're really interested in you. Just be calm, and call them at the appointed time and you'll be fine

bukolaakin:
Thanks very much. I was contacted yesterday through Skype with a new time but I was on a trip and my phone was off, so I didn't receive the notice early enough. Thankfully, they are gracious enough to give me another time for tomorrow morning. I pray I have better luck this time.
Travel / Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 5 by Mystique20(f): 6:44am On Dec 19, 2018
So sorry,
Hopefully they understand that it wasn't your fault, and you get another date. This time please call them at the allotted time, I did during mine.

bukolaakin:
Thank you so much. I mailed them immediately after 6pm and I didn't receive the call. I actually saw them online and sent a prior message to their Skype at 5:47pm saying I have been waiting and no call. I would have called but I wasn't sure how they would react if I did. I hope they will reply in the morning and reconsider.
Travel / Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 5 by Mystique20(f): 8:27pm On Dec 18, 2018
Shoot!

So sorry, try calling too. Explain the problem and if you get another chance, call and send them a message a few minutes BEFORE the scheduled timing. That way you can be sure that all is set. Best of luck!

bukolaakin:
I lost my admission chance today into Uni gottingen. They scheduled me for an interview between 4pm and 6pm. At my end I was online throughout the whole period but it seems they didn't see me online. All the messages they sent me asking if I was online dropped after 6pm. I have mailed them if they could reschedule but I doubt if they would agree. I am just not happy after all my efforts.

Hi guys,
I keep saying I'll post this but I forget. I've seen a few posts about problems getting to move admission or enrollment dates, The ilmenau university of technology admission letter covers two academic years, i.e if you get admission for summer semester 2019, it's still valid for winter semester that year, summer and winter semester 2020. Hopefully this helps someone!

Hi house!

Life sure throws different curves at us, what matters is how you deal with the situations it's brings.
I started following Nairaland a few weeks ago by accident, I was searching for some answers about the German visa documentation process and requirements when I stumbled upon this site.

I decided to continue, I mean we learn everyday so why leave when I can meet people with real life experiences I can ask questions as they arise?
Last week I asked if anyone was interested in helping me get an appointment date as I wasn't sure I'd be able to stay up, due to work stress and a few people reached out to.
I finally got one who asked for payment and decided that his phone would go off afterwards.

After that, I just thought to put my experience out here so anyone willing to read it, would be wiser than I was, I wasn't expecting the response I got!

So many emails offering to help, and to each one of them, I'm really grateful. Today, I woke up to an appointment confirmation email, booked by someone I've NEVER met, but who felt helping me was worth staying awake for. Thank you everyone that reached out in any way.

Hi,
I don't know if my advice will work for the german language but being a polyglot, I'd suggest you start learning the languages via things you love. It could be listening to music in said language, seeing movies or documentaries with subtitles at first, until you learn some basic words. The whole idea is to ease into learning the language and not feeling like you're in school. I'd also suggest you make online friends who speak German, it'll help with practice. Lastly, get an offline translator and try doing translations of words you as a person uses often, I know it's a little more difficult learning a new language as an adult but you'll be fine I'm sure.

keleto:

Hello heybaby. The germany language thin ehn. I tried studying with the training video's i downloaded from youtube. After 10 mins,my eyes come dey turn me.
I dont know how to go about learning the language.
I dont want to make application if i dont have at least basic knowledge of the language---- cos of job search over there.

@heybabe,pls i sent you pm.
