Some residents in Ogun State were caught chasing away Fulani herdsmen and their cattles from the state.

This comes amid activities of herders which have continued to raise concerns in several parts of the country, with some regions banning open grazing.

The 2- minutes video which has gone viral on social media shows young men stoning herders as they keep running for their dear lives.

The incident according to information gathered by our correspondent occured at Idi Ori in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In the video, the woman who recorded the incident can be heard pleading to the young men to stop throwing stones at the herders so as to avoid bringing war on their community.

The woman also appealed the men chase away the herdsmen not to harm or kill their cattles.

She marveled at the amount of cows in the area which was unknown to them.

The Senate has commenced moves to block revenue leakages from medical tourism with the consideration of a bill that would reduce the number of Nigerians traveling to other countries for medical care.

The bill entitled: “Federal Medical Centres (Establishment) Bill, 2021” sponsored by Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, passed through the second reading at plenary yesterday.

Leading debate on the bill, Senator Ahmed said the absence of a legal framework for the regulation, development and management of Federal Medical Centres to set standards for rendering health services was responsible for hindering the provision of intensive, effective and efficient health care services to the people of Nigeria.

According to her, “this has led to a number of challenges in the health sector including but not limited to under-funding, weak facilities and infrastructure, poor motivation of health workers, low budget, weak accountability, conflicts with the political structure of the states and industrial strikes which has led to inadequacies, shortcomings and weaknesses which hinder effective health care delivery services.”


She noted that the passage of the bill will “reduce the number of Nigerians who have to go to other countries for medical care.”

The Senator lamented that, “an average of 20,000 Nigerians travel to India each year for medical assistance due to the absence of a solid healthcare system at home.”

She further noted that the piece of legislation would also sufficiently address remuneration of the employees of the Medical Centers which in turn would check the exodus of
doctors and nurses to other countries.

Her words: “Seventy-seven percent of black doctors in the US are Nigerians and there is rarely any top medical institution in the US or Europe where you don’t find Nigerians managing at the top level. Hardly a year passes without a major national strike by nurses, doctors, or health consultants. The major reasons for these strikes are poor salaries and lack of government investment in the health sector”.

Kidnappers operating in Niger state have released a video showing 21 commuters that were abducted along the Tegina-Zungeru highway in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger state on Sunday, February 14.

The victims were abducted while traveling in a bus belonging to the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA). A statement released by the state government on Tuesday, February 16, said ten of the passengers had been freed without a ransom paid.



There are reports that the terrorists are demanding a ransom of N500 million to release the remaining victims in the captive.

A teenage armed robber identified as Monday Omoruyi has made shocking revelations after he was apprehended by local vigilantes over alleged phone theft.

These revelations were made by the Edo-born armed robber while narrating how he was apprehended by local vigilantes.

According to the teenage armed robber, it all started at a barber’s shop when someone came to charge his phone and asked them to look after the phone.

But the phone including some cash were stolen by another person (undisclosed). The people called local vigilantes to arrest me and declared that until they find the guy, I will not be released, he disclosed.

Monday further revealed that his brother is in possession of two police guns and he collected these guns from Aba market police station.

All Criminal Elements Coming Into Nigeria Must Be Flushed Out – Abaribe

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has said that regardless of what arguments may be held over insecurity in the country, one resolution that must be reached is to flush out all criminal elements.

Speaking during plenary on Wednesday, Abaribe said authorities must not continue to paper over matter when it comes to the issue of security.

The lawmaker who specifically spoke about claims that certain citizens were being sent away from different regions of the country, said only miscreants have been chased out of the forests from where they have been unleashing mayhem on innocent Nigerians.

“No Nigerian is being sent away from anywhere, criminals are being sent away from the forest where they are,” Abaribe argued.

He urged fellow legislators to be mindful of the message they pass and emphasized that the desideratum for solving Nigeria’s security need at this time, is to ensure that all criminal elements coming into the country from wherever they are, be flushed out.

Rivers State Governor,  Nyesom Wike, has condemned the posture of some ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region that behave as if the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) belongs to them.

The governor said the commission belongs to all states in the region and that no particular ethnic group could assert itself as the dominant owner of the commission, as has been observed of recent.
He stated this when he played host to the Interim Management Committee of NDDC led by Effiong  Akwa in Government House, Port Harcourt yesterday.

The governor also said such people  leave their states and come to Rivers to block the gates of the commission, cause crisis and frustrate economic activities in the state.
“Anybody can be appointed in Niger Delta. There are people who believe that if they appoint somebody from Edo or Cross River State for example, they will say no, that those people are not the core Niger Delta states. We must have to stop that.

“NDDC does not belong to any ethnic group in the Niger Delta region. It does not belong to anybody. There are people who have seen themselves that they are the owners of NDDC. They leave their state and come to NDDC to block NDDC gate. We are peaceful people, but nobody should push us to the point where we can tell you enough is enough.

“The next time they try it again to cause crisis in our state, I will mobilise our people against them. I am not saying if you have grievances with NDDC you shouldn’t seek how to settle it. But, don’t use it to cause problem for us, to begin to make economic activities not to move.”
The governor challenged the new interim leadership to be determined to make a difference, change the current narrative of the commission of serving outsiders’ interest and abandoning its core mandate of developing the region.

Governor Wike also urged NDDC to send their partnership support towards the reconstruction of the ongoing dualisation of  Eastern by-pass road where the NDDC permanent headquarters is located.
Interim Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Effiong  Akwa said the visit was the first to be undertaken by his team to any governor in the region
