Business / Resource Control Resonates As Omo-agege Faults FG On Zamfara Gold Eal - Video by MYZOLE: 6:37am On Oct 15, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W23Qg3ZXznU

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, yesterday kicked against the recent sale of gold bar by Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), saying the governor has no right to sell the mineral resources that belong to the federal government.

Omo-Agege who spoke during Senate plenary, while contributing to the general debate on 2021 budget, wondered why a state governor will have the audacity to sell gold bar to the apex bank.

According to him, the gold found in any state belongs to the federal government, adding that the revenue generated from such mineral resources like gold are to be shared among all the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said: “Not too long ago, we saw the Governor of Zamfara State come before the CBN to present a gold bar worth close to about N5billion. The gold bar was presented for sale to the CBN. Mr. President, our people are beginning to wonder who owns this gold that is being sold to the CBN.

“They don’t sell oil in any of the Niger Delta states. I am wondering why the governor of a state should be selling gold bar from Zamfara State to the CBN. There are two problems with that. We believe that whatever revenue that ought to come from that transaction belongs to the entire country and not to the state government. That is number one and we should actually look into that. That is an area we really need to develop. There is a lot of revenue that could come from there that will take the burden from these international borrowings.”

It will be recalled that Item 39 under the Exclusive Legislative List of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) states that mines and minerals including oil fields, oil mining, geological surveys and natural gas are exclusively under the control of the federal government.

Also, the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007, which was passed into law on March 16, 2007, to repeal the Minerals and Mining Act, No. 34 of 1999 for the purposes of regulating the exploration and exploitation of solid materials in Nigeria vested the control of all properties and minerals in Nigeria in the state, and prohibits unauthorised exploration or exploitation of minerals.

The Act further stated that all lands in which minerals have been found in commercial quantities shall from the commencement of the Act be acquired by the federal government in accordance with the Land Use Act.

Commenting on the budget, Omo-Agege canvassed for sustainable peace in the Niger Delta region so that the daily oil output can be realisable.

He said: “For us to be able to achieve the 1.86million barrels per day, certain things must be in place. We must maintain the peace in the Niger Delta Region before we can achieve this. Mr. President, when I say this, it begins to sound like a broken record. Every day, for those of us who represent the Niger Delta, we hardly sleep. We are very worried about every concern because these people are the golden eggs that take care of this economy.

“But Mr. President, they are jobless. There is nothing for them to do. It is very important that the youths of these communities are engaged. The only way to engage these youths is for the oil companies, who explore oil in these communities in the Niger Delta that they help in creating jobs for the youths and the only way to do that is to have their business operations headquarters located within the Niger Delta.

“In the absence of this, you will have all the youths participating in this agitation against SARS. The only reason they are in the streets is because there are no jobs to engage them. Once again, I want to appeal that the oil companies doing businesses in this country should relocate their headquarters to the region”.

Politics / Lawan, Abaribe, Others In War Of Words Over 2021 Budget - VIDEO by MYZOLE: 9:45pm On Oct 13, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeYOtFwtYpI

Abuja- Lawmakers were on Tuesday in a war of words over the sustainability of the 2021 budget.

For describing the budget as “too simplistic, insensitive, unrealistic and does not reflect an understanding of national problems,” Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe was criticized by some of his colleagues.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday, during debate of the 2021 budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Abaribe representing Abia South Senatorial District, said the budget indicates government disconnect with global realities.

Describing the 2021 fiscal policy as “same old news with nothing new,” Abaribe also queried social interventions programmes initiated by the federal government to enhance job creation.

According to him, “In a country with over 30 million unemployed, employing 1,000 people per local government cannot generate the kind of jobs that the country needs.”

“Definitely, this can’t be the flagship idea of a government that understands the magnitude of the problems.”

Hé explained that “resolving issues such as the border closure, dealing with the continued harassment of young people who are trying to participate in the new global economy, and improving the productivity in agriculture are much more likely to have a sustained impact and create much more jobs than tokenistic projects by a financially distressed government.

The Minority Leader of the Senate underscored government debt profile, emphasizing on finding alternative

He added that the country’s “oil era is fading out, but the government retains an attitude of business-as-usual.

“This is not a time for tokenistic ideas. Nigeria needs big ideas. This 2021 budget proposal failed to deliver on that point.”

“The 2021 budget presents no overreaching economic philosophy.”

“While Nigeria postures as a capitalistic economy, Buhari’s 2021 federal budget deemphasises the role of the markets in addressing the challenges in the economy, and seeks to expand the size of government.”

On taxation, he condemned the recent tax increase from 5% to 7.5%, highlighting that the increase has further added to the suffering of Nigerians.

The 2021 budget proposes the building of new healthcare centres, procurement and equipping of numerous primary healthcare centres, a move that Senator Abaribe argued does not allow for private sector involvement in the health sector.

Abaribe was interrupted by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, who criticized his stance, insisting that “this is a budget estimate. If I was you I’ll do the same thing you are doing.”

In his contribution, Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, described Abaribe as “playing politics with the 2021 budget.”

He applauded the spread of capital projects in the 2021 fiscal policy, describing it as the right move to reposition the economy.

Describing the budget as been in line with the challenges of the time, Senator Kalu also praised the creation of special interventions for the 774 local governments across Nigeria.

For Senator Gabriel Suswam, “the items in the 2021 budget are not sustainable over a long period of time.”

Stressing the need to reduce borrowing, he warned that “borrowing may become a vicious circle that may lead into the 2022 budget.”

Senator Oker-Jev Emmanuel, Benue North/West, stressed that there was nothing on ground to show that the country can finance the 2021 budget.

He called the attention of stakeholders to what he described as “Fertilizer priced out of the reach of Farmers.”

Politics / Ondo Poll: Major Parties Guilty Of Vote Buying — Ajulo (VIDEO) by MYZOLE: 7:48am On Oct 12, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_eZoOCN4I4

Dr Kayode Ajulo, a constitutional lawyer and former General Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), says all major parties in the just concluded Ondo State governorship election are guilty of vote buying.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, Ajulo, an indigene of Ondo, who said he monitored the election, alleged that the major political parties were all involved in influencing voters for the election, using money.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, declared Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu the winner of the Ondo state governorship election held on Saturday.

Ajulo said that the parties accusing others of vote buying during the election had no moral rights to do so as they were all guilty of it.

“The reported widespread vote buying during the election is true but it’s not restricted to one party.

“The case of vote buying was not only common to the major opposition. The three leading political parties in the election tried in the game of outspending and overreaching one another,” he said.

He further explained that the only difference was the financial strategy, wit and coordination of the political parties involved to facilitate the act.

He, however, said that failure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election was its inability to ensure that it presented a united front for the election which negated its chances at winning.

According to the legal luminary, several governors within the umbrella of the PDP supported the Candidate of the Zenith Labour Congress (ZLP), Mr Agboola Ajayi, who left the PDP for the ZLP after the conduct of the PDP primaries, where he lost to Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).

He also explained that the PDP would have had a better shot at winning if the party’s flag bearer had emulated the tactic of APC flag bearer who stooped to conquer by making peace with all his old and new adversaries.

“The PDP flag bearer failed to be on the same page with his former Principal, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, and this, unfortunately, helped Gov. Akeredolu’s fortunes as PDP went into the election with a cracked wall,” he said.

Ajulo lauded INEC for the peaceful conduct of the election in the state while also enjoining the body to strive to do better in subsequent elections in the country.

He also urged all those who lost in the election to take it in good faith and join hands to take Ondo state to greater heights.

Education / WASSCE: Police Arrest 17 School Principals, Teachers For Exam Malpractices-video by MYZOLE: 9:55am On Sep 27, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4NT-lkCzUo

The police on Friday paraded 17 school principals and teachers for alleged involvement in examination malpractices.

They were said to have leaked the questions to students during the August/September West African Examination Council examinations across the country.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, who paraded the suspects at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, said the examination body is collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen the integrity of its examination processes.

He said, “It is in line with this new approach and partnership that we present to you today (Friday), a total of 17 suspects arrested from different parts of the country.

“Paradoxically, the bulk of these suspects who are aiding the perpetration of the fraud and exam malpractices all happen to be persons who were employed, trained and paid to promote the educational system. I am talking of teachers. All of them are teachers.

“They are the ones that work as supervisors, invigilators or as the host teachers in the schools the exams are conducted.”

He cautioned members of the public, including parents, guardians, teachers and candidates to stop engaging in exam malpractices, noting that the force has developed robust technologies that can detect, trace and apprehend perpetrators of exam malpractices.

“All these suspects would be arraigned before competent courts of law in the country. As I speak to you, some of them have already been charged to court,” Mba said.

Mrs Omolemi Hassan, who represented the Head of National Office, WAEC Nigeria and Registrar to Council, appreciated the police for their collaboration.

She stated, “During the exams, many people were talking about leakage and so on. There was no leakage at all.

“It was just a situation where those we trusted with our question papers, those who were nominated by Ministries of Education in different states were the ones after we gave them questions papers may be at 9am for an exam of 9.30am, they stopped to take pictures and put on websites and WhatsApp groups. They are indeed the ones who have tried to scuttle our efforts.”

One of the suspects, who is the principal of a private secondary school in Rivers State, Hanson Beloved said he did not do it for monetary gain.

He explained that was only trying to “help students in my school pass the examinations because the coronavirus (pandemic) has kept them home all this while and they have not been able to study.”this has led to the clamour by the forum for the return of the country to the parliamentary system of government.

Politics / You Are A Terrible Person - Fani Kayode Tell Journalist by MYZOLE: 4:30pm On Aug 25, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHO582YOqno

Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, attacked Eyo Charles, a journalist who asked him a question at a press conference in Calabar, Cross River state, last week.

The ex-minister, who began a tour of some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) states in July, visited Cross River last week.

TheCable gathered that at the end of the tour, he held a press conference where he showered encomiums on Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River.

Among the projects he inspected are the superhighway that would stretch from the Atlantic ocean in Bakassi to the boundary of Benue state and the proposed deep sea port.

He reportedly showered encomiums on Ayade and called on the federal government to assist the state which has “lean resources”.

Eyo, a reporter with Daily Trust, had asked the ex-minister if his recent trips were being sponsored and Fani-Kayode flew into a rage shortly after.

Fani-Kayode, who described the reporter as “very stupid”, said he is not a poor man who would beg for funds.

“I am saying this on live TV. What type of stupid question is that? Bankrolling who? Do you know who you are talking to? I will not take any questions from this man,” he said.

“What type of insulting question is that? Which bankroll? To do what? Who can give me money for anything? Who do you think you are talking to? Go and report yourself to your publisher? Please don’t insult me here. I don’t want to take any questions from this man.

“I could see from your face before you got here, how stupid you are. Don’t ever talk to me like that. Who do you think you’re talking to. Bankroll who? You think I am one of those ones you… from who, when, how? You have a small mind, very small mind. Don’t judge me by your own standards.

“I have been in politics since 1990… I have been locked up many times by this government. Suffered. I have been persecuted unlike most of the politicians you follow for brown envelope. Don’t ever judge me by that standard. I spend I don’t take and I am not a poor man — I have never been and I will never be.

“Bankroll how? Don’t ever suggest that to me. I am sorry that was deeply insulting. I don’t often get annoyed in press conference. I have been doing this type of thing for so many years. Don’t you ever make that kind of suggestion to me. Bankroll who? A former minister, a lawyer? Don’t ever try that with me again o, please. You see me well, don’t ever. Try it with others, but with me, don’t! I will hit you hard and if anybody sent you to ask that question and gave you brown envelope, go and tell them that you got more than they bargained for to do it.

“Very rude. It is not the standard of gaining trust at all and I will report you to your publisher. Thank you. Somebody that has been on the road for how long, you are coming to talk about that. Very stupid.”

The ex-minister had asked if there were other questions but he did not entertain any other question before storming out of the hall in anger.

TheCable gathered that despite the attempt of Christian Ita, chief press secretary to Ayade, to pacify Fani-Kayode, he continued raining insults on the reporter outside the hall.

“You can go ahead and write your rubbish. I have marked you,” a journalist who witnessed the incident quoted Fani-Kayode as telling Charles.

In July, the traditional title of “Sadaukin Shinkafi” bestowed on Fani-Kayode during his tour created division in Shinkafi emirate of Zamfara state.

Stop praying to God for money and car. They don't spend money in heaven; neither is there a car manufacturer in heaven

I just saw this video online and share with you guys because of the topic it's focused on; which is some Christians expecting overnight miracles of being prosperous from God, but aren't taking actions which will help them achieve the prayer requests.

According to the man in the video, he was told by the Holy spirit that it is not only Christians that are the humans inhabiting the earth; there re people on earth who do not go to church but are prospering; they have good jobs, business is, houses and cars etc.

When he asked the Holy spirit why it was so, how come unbilievrs are making it in life and some hristiams were still poor, he was told it is because most Christians are too religious.

Confused by the response, the pleaded with the Holy spirit to explain things further.

He was then told that the blessing that God placed on Adam and Eve in the garden of eden isn't for Christians alone, but for humanity as a whole; being a Christian or not, all humans are still under the blessing.

The Holy spirit also told him that even unbelievers can prosper once the follow the simple principles laid by God and said that some Christians are missing out in such blessings because they spiritualism everything.

We live on earth and not in Heaven,so we should be act as humans because God has said that anything unbelievers on earth can do for themselves; He being God won't do it for us.

The Holy spirit then warned that we should stop praying for cars cause cars aren't sold in heaven, neither is their any car manufacturing company in heaven.

We don't spend money in heaven, so do not lazy around all day and then come to pray to God for money;go get a job or start a business, save up funds and I will give you the grace to make money in the job or business to buy a car for yourself by yourself.

God has given us the ability to create wealth. What you need to make money on earth and live a financial fulfilling life is in you already: that is why unbelievers are doing exactly what you are praying for for me to do for you.

You in the other hand, instead of looking inwards and activating what God has already created in you, you are still looking at the heavens.

If you fail to wake up to your responsibilities and prefer to go to vigils, praying for money and car, I will be laughing at you from heaven; go and activate the gifts and talents I have given to you which will make you prosper;unbelievers are doing that and are living a good life because than going to vigils and praying to be like Dangote and Bill Gates, unbelievers are starting businesses and getting good jobs.

Celebrities / (VIDEO) My Irritating Experience With LASTMA Officials- Comedian, Koffi by MYZOLE: 1:18am On Aug 23, 2020

Popular Nigerian Stand-up comedian, actor and businessman, Koffi Ayinde Idowu Nuel, professionally known as KoffiThaGuru has shared his nasty encounter with officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA.

According to the humour merchant who sounded very disappointed at the manner in which the traffic managers conducted themselves in public, the LASTMA officials are reportedly notorious for harassing innocent motorists on the Ikorodu axis of Lagos metropolis.

Recounting his experience in a lengthy Instagram post using his Instagram account, @koffithaguru, he noted with disappointment; “I had an episode with some LASTMA officials within the week at Palmgrove bus stop and I wish to know what exactly is the function of this body.”

“Forgive my ignorance, what is the difference between service lane and highway? I observed with chagrin as public servants acted like lords and commandos.”

“Irritating hustlers ordering and commanding me to get down from my vehicle whilst asking what was the Rambo style double crossing for.”

“A LASTMA official is asking me if the service lane is a lay-by for me to park and pick my call and even pick someone.”

“Was my parking/hazard light not obvious enough? I thought the LASTMA truck was supposed to help move broken down vehicles from the highway?”

“I later found out that this unit of Lastma officials run this harassing hustle on ikorodu road, as I had seen them earlier obstructing traffic at Onipanu whilst jacking someone’s car at the ‘Bus Stop,”

“It didn’t occur to me that 5 minutes later, they would descend on me. Now I see why people take on these officials with reckless abandon.”

“Things are tight, everyone is on the edge. Roads are blocked, traffic everywhere. No income, yet these individuals still make life hard for citizens on the road.”

“The moment they wear that uniform a certain power and authority overcomes mere men and they become villains on fellow humans.”

“The idiot said he knew who I was. No wonder people jam you anyhow.”

“Are we in a jungle? Kindly tag the necessary parties and share your own experience. Arrant nonsense”, he wrote.

Politics / Edo: PDP Urges UN, EU To Sanction Gambari & Oshiomhole by MYZOLE: 1:37am On Aug 22, 2020

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6AC4gc0pjE

“Arrest him” video: Punish Gambari, Oshiomhole – PDP chair Secondus to world powers

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday charged the United Nation (UN), the European Union (EU) and other international bodies to place visa restriction on the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari; a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, and other individuals as punishment for allegedly plotting to truncate democracy and good governance in Nigeria.

PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, at a press conference in Abuja also accused APC leaders of plots to use fake police and army to rig the September 19 governorship election in Edo State.

Secondus described Nigeria as a police state, saying that the federal government has put in place measures to muzzle free press and freedom of speech.

He also called on the National Assembly to probe how and why the presidential villa has become a place where plots to destroy democracy is being hatched.

The PDP’s position was informed by the ongoing controversy over a video that has gone viral in which Gambari and Oshiomhole were allegedly plotting how to rig the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

In the video, which the presidency has dismissed as fake, Oshiomhole was allegedly telling Gambari to arrest top PDP leaders in Edo State to facilitate APC being victorious in the election.

However, despite the presidency’s clarification and assurances by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure free and fair poll in the state, the PDP called on the international community to deny visas to members of the APC for plotting to endanger democracy and enthrone bad governance.

At the press conference, Secondus, surrounded by all members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, said: “We wish to also, draw the attention of the international community to this gross abuse of power to undermine the democratic process by critical staff that should defend it. We demand appropriate sanction of the individuals involved in this anti-democratic act; they should be given visa restrictions to any democratic countries.

“The interest and will of the people of Edo State should be paramount in all decisions and that should guide any action either by the INEC or the government. PDP remains vehemently opposed to any postponement of Edo and Ondo States governorship elections. September 19 and October 10 should be sacrosanct.”

He appealed to Nigerians to declare anybody or group working to truncate the ongoing electoral processes in Edo and Ondo States as enemies of democracy.

According to him, notwithstanding any plot to rig the Edo election, the PDP and its leaders will not allow the Kogi, Kano, Ekiti or Osun scenarios to play out in Edo State.

He said: “Let it be known, and clearly too, that the PDP is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of Edo State to resist Oshiomhole’s fake police and other fake security operatives they are planning to import into Edo for the September 19 election.

“Nothing, and indeed, nothing will by any means whatsoever, be allowed to bend the will of the people in this Edo governorship election.

“We are deeply saddened that under the watch of an elected President Muhammadu Buhari who is a huge beneficiary of democracy, the nation’s highest seat of power is being used for the hatching of plans to undermine democracy.

“The Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, is such a strategic staff that when he is involved in any underhand thing, the president cannot free himself from it. The PDP is, therefore, calling on the National Assembly to call for the tape of the video and examine thoroughly its content with a view to acting appropriately.”

Secondus stated that the constitution and the Electoral Act are against any bid to undermine democracy by clamping down on the opposition.

He added that it’s unfortunate that the numerous problems overwhelming the nation is not disturbing the president and his party but how to blackmail and arrest the opposition.

Secondus said: “It’s also in our findings that the several efforts of APC leaders to arm-twist the INEC into falling for their devious move to shift the election. All these anti-democratic moves are all aimed at one thing – creating a constitutional logjam to disrupt the election because they know they cannot win.

“As all these underhand moves are crumbling before their eyes; the discredited former chairman of APC was smuggled into Aso Rock Villa to fine-tune the rigging strategy for Edo.

“The leaked video, which has been confirmed by the presidency, says it all – the plan to arrest and keep away all opposition leaders and clear the way for the rigging machinery of APC to roll through. This development is not only shameful but very unfortunate that the nation’s seat of power housing a democratically elected president has to be used to plan how to inflict harm on democracy.”
