I need serious help from any one of you. I had very bad feedback from a terrible client I encountered few weeks back. I used Grammarly and other tools to edit and execute his work but still claimed it was not enough.

Please I beg someone in the writing nich to help me with a job referral, even if it's a $5 contract, I just need a contract or two to push the bad feedback to the bottom and regain my JSS.

You should be worried about your dependence on AI writing software; that's why you received negative feedback, after all. It's fine to use AI writing software as spellcheckers and to highlight the occasion punctuation blunder, but you shouldn't be reliant on them.

Grammarly can be outrageously wrong a lot of times. The English language is vast, but Grammarly's rules are limited. It also has a serious problem with context and tenses, as most AI writing software do. [Example: Grammarly suggested I change "Do" at the end of my sentence to "Does".]

You can still get a JSS-tanking review on a $5 contract. Therefore, before looking for referrals, work on improving your grasp of the English language.

That said, today's top writers have taken a hatchet to the wall of separation between content writing and copywriting (Example: search Google for the term SEO Copywriter). SEO writing is an aspect of Content Writing, but it contains readability requirements that can elevate a copywriter's quality.

@Dollywood, the writers earning the income you, me, and many others yearn for combine aspects of both digital marketing subsets (content writing and copywriting) to create digestible, gripping, and persuasive content.

1.) Like I said, your profile is good compared to the others I've reviewed here, but it's not great. It needs work done, even now. My profile isn't spectacular either, and I always work on it. Self-presentation is never good enough. Even Expert-vetted freelancers on Upwork tweak their profiles from time to time to stay ahead.

2.) Screenshot the last proposal you sent so that one of the many gurus here can review it for you.

3.) Connects are only useful when spent, so spending them isn't a waste. Wasted connects are the connects that just sit there, unused.

Ditch the defeatist mindset if you want to succeed.

Well done! Your profile is good — probably even the best one I've reviewed on NL so far — but it needs some work.

The big problem with your pitch is verbiage; it's too wordy. The 3 questions at the beginning are asking the same thing, so combine them. Remember, a stellar copywriter should know when enough is enough.

- Look up the difference between "will" and "would" and correct your improper uses of "would."
- Your services and skills should come before your client reviews.
- Be mindful of the claims you make in your pitch, especially when you have a portfolio attached.
- I also always counsel freelancers against misusing the word "expert," especially those struggling to put a sentence together.

Let's look at this paragraph:

I've always had a passion for writing and that passion has helped me grow my skills to a tremendous level. I believe these skills are highly profitable to you and will strongly influence your business if you gave me the chance to work with you.

Only a client wooing you will care to know about your passion, so remove that part; it's unnecessary information. It also sounds like you're begging to get hired. An "expert" wouldn't do that.

Make sure you proofread your write-up. I spotted a few too many errors in it. Errors can shatter your chances of landing a well-paying client.

Your rate is best left to your discretion. There are, however, some factors you can consider when deciding how much to charge clients seeking your services. Here are a few:

1. The niche you write in (Some niches pay higher than others).
2. Your experience in the field (The more you know, the more you can charge).
3. The quality and depth of your writing and your portfolios (Excellent portfolios can convince clients to pay you even double your regular rates).
4. The value you believe you'll bring to your clients.
5. The value you place on your service.
6. The rates of competitors in your niche.

For a start, consider these when setting your rate. If $15/h fits the bill for you, then good. If not, then it's time for a new rate.

Let's look at your next line.

What makes a proposal, for example, an "excellent and compelling business document?" It doesn't sound like you worded that very well. An expert business writer won't make that mistake. Scrap or rework it.

Next line.

I am also a good writer who is good in content writing, online research, and proof reading.

I'm short of words to describe this line. What does content writing entail? If you claim to be a "good" content writer, you should at least know to outline your skills in the niche. Delete this and go research (since you're good at it) what a content writer can do.

The final two lines.

Furthermore, with an excellent thinking, speaking, numerical and organization ability, I am I'm willing and available to be your virtual assistant, customer support rep and telemarketer.

Upwork will send your money to your Payoneer balance. The card is just an intermediary with which to access the funds in your Payoneer account.
