Politics › Re: What Constitutes Ethnic Slur On Nairaland? by N2B2: 12:02pm On Mar 30, 2023
Penguin2:
About 3 days ago, Seun made a commendable effort towards bringing sanity back to Nairaland by announcing the ban on ethnic slurs which is what has hitherto made Nairaland a very notorious platform for propagation of ethnic hatred and what not.

However, his article was vague as it did not enunciate what constitutes ethnic slurring, the words, phrases or sentences that could be adjudged as such.

So, I write this to seek clarification, both for myself and for others who might want to know so that we can be properly guided.

They say ignorance of the law is not an excuse, but I also think the law should not be deliberately hidden or made vague and ambiguous and left only to the judge to interpret as he wills.

So, what constitutes ethnic slur on Nairaland?

Don't bother. The NL mods haven't figured it out yet.

The ban was a hurriedly-enacted effort to feign neutrality after allowing tribalist trolls to run rampant for the entirety of the elections.

Now that the national exercise is over, it's back to "we love the Igbo people" and "One Nigeria" so that the NL userbase will not reduce.

It is well.
Politics › Re: Interim Government: Nigerians Won’t Be Intimidated Into Submission - LP by N2B2:
The DSS has identified some key players in the plot for an Interim Government in Nigeria.
Which players? Why has the DSS not named & shamed these so-called perpetrators?

Do you now understand why no one takes the agency seriously? The DSS is nothing more than a propaganda arm of the ruling party, only capable of arresting people who criticize the government. Now, it's spreading fake allegations to cause panic and dissuade the political parties in court lawfully seeking redress over the just-concluded election.

Politics › U.S. To Place Visa Restrictions On Individuals Who Undermined Nigeria's Election by N2B2(op): 7:27pm On Mar 21, 2023
MARCH 21, 2023

Nigeria carried out the second round of its electoral process with gubernatorial and state assembly elections on March 18. The United States is deeply troubled by the disturbing acts of violent voter intimidation and suppression that took place during those polls in Lagos, Kano, and other states. Members of the U.S. diplomatic mission observed the elections in Lagos and elsewhere and witnessed some of these incidents first-hand. The use of ethnically charged rhetoric before, during, and after the gubernatorial election in Lagos was particularly concerning. We commend all Nigerian political actors, religious and community leaders, youth, and citizens who have chosen to reject and speak out against such violence and inflammatory language, affirming Nigerians’ commitment to and respect for the democratic process.

We call on Nigerian authorities to hold accountable and bring to justice any individuals found to have ordered or carried out efforts to intimidate voters and suppress voting during the election process. The United States likewise will consider all available actions, including additional visa restrictions, on individuals believed to be responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic process in Nigeria.

Following the February 25 national elections, the United States joined other international observers in urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve voting processes and technical elements that experienced flaws in that voting round. The March 18 elections appear to have had significant operational improvements, as polling stations generally opened on time and most results were visible on an electronic viewing platform in a timely manner.

The United States renews its call for any challenges to election results to go through established legal processes, which must not be interfered with. We further call for Nigeria’s people to work together as they participate in and continue to strengthen the country’s vibrant democracy.

You are taunting peoples whose ancestors were warriors. As if anybody can come to your state and say it's no man's land it would please you greatly.

You think other Nigerian tribes have forgotten the fact that your Igbo soldiers planned a coup that killed the prominent leaders of all other tribes but hinted their own Igbo leaders to flee. That is the sin that your Igbos sinned against other tribes and why they find it hard to trust you.
Who's reading all this gibberish, Mr. tribal agitator?

You can crawl back from the fringe as your type always do, but remember that the divide which exists today was in the past fomented by the tribalists that came before you — and you and your troll lot have continued the hate-filled tradition.

Keep backpedaling; shame is not new to you, after all.

Keep quiet — you're just a tribalistic stain quietly walking back abhorrent behavior.

At the end of the day, after all results are announced, tribalists will ditch their alt accounts, log back onto their main accounts, and say, "One Nigeria; let's do business."

Only gutter trolls like you are urging for violence. But, in person, you're probably just skin & bones.

Wainey:
For me, I lost the interest to go out and vote not because Tinubu won.
No, he was the second candidate who I preferred after Atiku and I somehow believed he will win.
Make no mistake: the election was rigged.

Also keep in mind that, the moment you chose not to exercise your right to vote, the riggers won. They hoped to disenfranchise you enough to no longer believe your vote is valuable; that makes it easier for them to rig.

Nigeria will get there. It may not be today, but the country will get there one day.

SMJay:
He rejected the job but someone better took the job at a lower salary.
How do you (or whoever wrote this) know the friend wasn't the better candidate? Salary is determined by budget and the perceived value of the prospective employee.

Your friend's expected salary would only anger you if you believed he wasn't a good fit for the role. The funny thing is — if you met someone you think is overqualified for the position, like an expatriate, you wouldn't flinch at higher-than-average salary requests.

Morale of the story: if you're certain you can over-deliver, and have performance evidence from previous roles to back it up, ask for whatever you think you're worth and watch budgets expand for you.

Why is APC Urchins not celebrating their Victory ? All over Nigeria people are angry because their mandate has being stolen by criminal Thiefunubu along with his criminal corrupt APC old foollish granpa Buhari and Inec chairman Yakubu .
Any abokii or Yoluba that will quote me may God punish him, his family and his generation for supporting evil .
Stolen mandate doesn't last .
Because, unlike past candidates who challenged their electoral loss, Peter Obi's legal case is good. There is a preponderance of evidence to prove that the INEC blatantly violated the 2022 electoral act — a charge that multiple authoritative figures, including the Senate President, and experts have opined to be true.

Even if the entire election isn't annulled, recounts — or even fresh elections — could be ordered in a few or several provinces, which will be awful for whoever rose to power through rigging.

That's why the loudest voices in the APC — these are the party's extremist, tribalist bloc of trolls — are not happy and have since resorted to tribalistic drivel to sow discord, using burner Nairaland accounts.

The question is ? Who is triggering him to do it ? The streets is going to turn into a bloodsbath and tribal war will break out on the streets of Lagos and damn near ethnic cleansing or God forbid genocide. The question is what is prompting this man to make the moves he is making after losing the election ? Is he being sponsored to heAt up deez streetz or is his ego the driving factor ?
Why do you have your knickers in a bunch over Obi's affairs? Many candidates past have challenged the results of the race they contested, and Obi is doing so — which is his right — while calling for peace. Even the APC has signalled intent to challenge the electoral results in some South-Eastern states.

So from where have you gotten the notion that he's setting the country up for war?

Disagree. How often has a good majority of the Igbo voted for PDP? It's simple enough to look at the candidates pushed by the party over the years.

Besides, the APC also has a ton of Igbo people in their ranks, so does the Labour party with the Yoruba. It is the most vocal of tribalistic trolls that made the election about ethnicity because it is only by division they can soar.
