Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN Mourns Demise Of Daughter; NLS Set Sends Their Condolences

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and a Lead Counsel in the legal team of Labour Party’s presidential candidate pursuing his petition against the result of the 2023 Presidential election, Dr Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN has lost his second daughter, Nwankie Ikpeazu to the cold hands of death.

The daughter of the renowned legal luminary was said to have passed on last week after a brief illness and her funeral Mass has been fixed for the 24th of March, 2023 at their Onitsha hometown

As condolences continue to pour in, Dr Ikpeazu’s 1984 Law School classmates yesterday, 20th of March, 2023, visited his residence to sympathise with him over the unfortunate demise of his daughter


Below is the full text of the statement by the Ikpeazu Family:

It is with a heart filled with grief that the Family of Justice Chuba Ikpeazu, QS, of Umudei, Umuosma Quarters, Onitsha, announces the funeral rites of their daughter, Miss Nwankie Ikpeazu on Friday, March 24, 2023.

Aged 31, Nwankie, who died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, is the second daughter. of the Abuja-based legal luminary, Dr Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN.

The family decided on account of Nwankie’s youthful age to bury her remains within the shortest time frame to mitigate their grief.

According to a family funeral programme, a funeral service will be held at 9 am at the family Church, Our Saviours Church, Umudei, Umuosuma, off Mba Road, inland Town, Onitsha on Friday 24, 2023.

The Family, however, most graciously requests privacy at her funeral ceremonies and interment.

The body will be interred immediately after the service in the Family premises.

this 5th line of urs makes it so obvious that u are just one of the paid people set up to argue and support a cause even you know might be wrong, you even go as far as lying about what you didn't read... Because if you read as you have claimed in your 5th line you would know the document wasn't up to 99 pages, but just 37 pages... Just look at your reasoning. Nnamdi kanu has never been fined, he has never forfeited anything to the state, he has never been jailed so wetin you dey talk sef. Tinubu's case is different. He chose the easier way out. He forfeited those things because he was guilty and going to court would lead to imprisonment. He was guilty and that's why he forfeited the money.

Yes. It's the same way the CBN can change currency with the approval from the president.

However they have to give reasonable notice to any changes to the guidelines. He can't just decide to employ Iya akara to help him transmit the votes in the middle of the election because of cyber attacks.

He also has to prove the millions of cyber attacks in court. Those attacks are logged of which tech experts are already laughing at the fallacy of such statements.

The normal thing to do when an election is being comprised is to suspend the election. This is what the electoral act recommends.

Electoral act also recommends that the INEC chairman ensures that the constituon is followed when declaring a winner. 133, 134 and 179 were mention. Not 299.

The INEC chairman will also explain where he got his own interpretation from 😆

Why didn't they follow through with it according to the regulation and directives?

Because even from the first paragraph of the regulation and directives from INEC they made it clear that the directive is in full force and can only be ineffective when there is a new directive or a revision to the regulation.

Now show me the revised directive that supercedes this directive in your screenshot or keep your fingers shut.

Besides, I don't have interest with the governorship elections because due process was taken as there where new directive to that effect.

I agree with you. As long as it isn’t an abuse of discretion. They need to show that they had to shut down the portal without notice and that it wasn’t arbitrarily or maliciously shut down.

What's the difference between "section 60(5) results will be transmitted in a manner prescribed by INEC " and INEC determining the guideline for the election?!?

Abi you no dey understand properly.

INEC through various tweets, media rounds and briefing, memos and circular prescribed the guideline of the election which included electronic transmission of results.

They even stated in one of the memo that the manual collation forms won't be admissible without the electronic result data.

They can't come at the process of the said election and neglect or abandon what they already prescribed or provided guideline for.

Disclaimer: I have to use prescribed and guideline interchangeably and side by side for better understanding.

They did provided guidelines according to law through many of press briefings and memos which included electronic transmission of results only for them to abandon the guideline. It's unacceptable and can attract litigation
