An indigene of Anambra State, Mrs Ifeoma Amarachukwu Ochiagha, who was among those who lost their lives last Monday during an attack by gunmen in Nnobi, is set for burial this Thursday.

Amarachukwu was hit by a stray bullet when vigilante operatives engaged gunmen at Nnobi Junction last Monday.

DAILY POST gathered that vigilante operatives operating in Nnewi had received intelligence that a gang of armed men was coming into Nnewi through the Nnobi community, prompting the commander to lead his men to engage them.

The commander, Mr Eloka Ubajekwe, was unfortunately killed in the crossfire, along with some others who were hit by stray bullets, including Amarachukwu.

Amarachukwu had just celebrated her marriage ceremony the Saturday before the incident and was looking forward to a life of marital bliss when her life was tragically cut short.

A burial poster shared by her family and signed by her father, Mr Timothy Ochiagha, revealed that she was only 22 when she died.

A post by one of her relatives read: “One of the victims of the Nnobi/Nnewi Monday sit-at-home mayhem will be buried on Thursday.

“Amarachukwu, who got married on Saturday, met her sudden death (unknown gunmen) the next Monday.

“May your gentle soul rest in peace, Nwadiana,” the relative wrote.

It was gathered that the gunmen, suspected to be separatist elements, were on a mission to enforce the already abolished Monday sit-at-home protest in the South East.

What Is Really Happening Inside This EDO

A staff of a new generation bank, simply identified as Mr Nosa, has been reportedly killed in Benin City, Edo State by suspected cultists.

DAILY POST learnt that the incident happened after the close of work last Thursday at Government Reservation Area, GRA, Benin City.

It was gathered that the deceased received a call while in office apparently from a friend who invited him for a hangout in a joint

A source, who spoke on the incident on condition of anonymity, alleged that the deceased, while on his way to the place, was waylaid by the assailants, who immediately opened fire on him.

He said the victim was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, the Command confirmed it; it is an unfortunate incident. But as I speak, the matter is under investigation,” the Police spokesman said.

He assured that the perpetrators would be brought to book.
