It has happened and would still happen in our country. You know how they're over here. People hardly go to the courts to seek compensation, so these crazy bullies think they can do as they please.

Imagine going to court for redress on this. The compensation be like playing sure 2odds with the osusu..

CrimeCourt Adjourns Fake Pastor Case After Anambra Lawyers Fail To Appear by NaijaCover(op): 1:55pm On Jun 15
Anambra State Government lawyers, on Monday, shunned a court hearing on the matter of a fake pastor allegation against Abia-born Bishop Emeka Nwankpa.

At the resumed hearing of the case involving Bishop Emeka Nwankpa, a formidable legal team comprising three Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and seven other lawyers appeared in court to represent and defend the revered cleric against allegations by the Government of Anambra State that he is a fake pastor.

However, neither the Attorney General of Anambra State nor any legal representative of the state government appeared in court to prosecute or defend the allegation.

In view of the absence of counsel for the Anambra State Government, the presiding judge was unable to proceed with the matter and consequently adjourned the case to Friday, 19th June 2026, for further hearing.

Meanwhile, hundreds of worshippers, supporters and friends of the cleric who thronged the court premises in a show of solidarity expressed confidence that justice would prevail and that Bishop Nwankpa would ultimately be vindicated of the allegations against him.

It would be recalled that the Anambra State Government had dragged Bishop Nwankpa and detained him as a fake pastor.

It was alleged that the action of the state government was a result of Bishop Nwankpa’s alleged support for the state governor’s opponent, Nicholas Ukachukwu, during the last governorship election in the state.

Bishop Nwankpa is still in detention, whereas the Monday appearance in court was for consideration of bail for the cleric.

Bishop Nwankpa is the General Overseer/Senior Pastor of Chapel of Faith Bible Assembly, at 3-3 Junction, Onitsha.

According to the prosecutors, funds were improperly released for projects that were either not executed or were irregularly managed.

Meanwhile, El-Rufai has denied all the charges and maintains his innocence.

During Monday’s sitting, the court is expected to continue hearing motions and arguments from both the prosecution and defence as the case progresses.

CelebritiesWhy I Celebrate When People Get Divorced – Comedian, Bovi by NaijaCover(op): 9:38am On Jun 09
Popular Nigerian stand-up comedian, Bovi Ugboma has revealed that he celebrates whenever a divorce happens.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Moraya Show, Bovi explained that he celebrates divorces because he believes that at least one of the partners was going through difficult times in the marriage.

According to him, the end of such marriage is a relief for at least one of the partners.

While emphasising his support for divorce, the comedian said it is a better option than toxic marriage.

“I celebrate when people get divorced because I feel it means one or both people were not breathing well in the marriage. I will not suffer anybody neither will I want anybody to suffer me,” he said.

Bovi added, “That is not to say my marriage has been easy for 17 years. It has not. I got married at 29. I have been providing for 17 years nonstop.”

CrimePolice Arrest Four Suspects Over Gun-running In Delta by NaijaCover(op): 9:22am On Jun 09
The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a gun-running syndicate allegedly connected to the recovery of an illegal Beretta pistol in Effurun, Uvwie local government area.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, during a press briefing in Asaba, said the suspects were apprehended during intelligence-led operations carried out in Bayelsa and Imo States.

He said the arrests followed investigations into a Beretta pistol recovered at a transport park in Effurun on May 1, 2026.

“The first suspect, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, was arrested in Bayelsa State on May 4 alongside his roommate, whose phone was allegedly used to facilitate communication for the firearm transaction. Police investigations revealed that Chukwuemeka allegedly purchased the pistol from one Amadi Princewill for #290,000 before reselling it to a suspect identified as Desmond, who is currently at large, for #380,000.”

Continuing, CP Oyeniyi said, “Desmond reportedly arranged for the weapon to be transported to Effurun and contacted the now-deceased Oghenemine Ogidi to retrieve it and forward it to Sapele.”

Acting on information obtained during interrogation, police operatives tracked and arrested Amadi Princewill in Imo State on May 15.

He stated that further investigations led to the arrest of another suspect, Amadi Felix Chibuike, in Owerri on May 16 after Princewill allegedly confessed to obtaining the firearm from him.

He said, “The fourth suspect arrested in connection with the syndicate is Clifford Boleyelefa”

FG receives report on alleged corruption, torture in Nigerian correctional centres

The Federal Government has received the report of an independent investigative panel set up to examine allegations of corruption, abuse of power, torture and other forms of misconduct within the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The development was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement posted on his official page.

According to the minister, the panel, chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, concluded its assignment after 18 months of investigation following its inauguration in November 2024.

Tunji-Ojo said the findings of the panel would serve as a guide for reforms aimed at improving correctional facilities across the country.

“The findings will serve as a strong foundation for transforming our correctional facilities from mere places of incarceration into true centres of rehabilitation, reformation, restoration and reintegration,” he stated.

The minister also highlighted ongoing rehabilitation programmes within correctional centres, noting that the number of inmates who returned to custody after release had reduced significantly in recent years.

According to him, the number of recorded cases of recidivism dropped from 11,616 inmates in 2023 to 1,382 inmates in 2025.

He further disclosed that 62 inmates are currently pursuing postgraduate studies, while 261 are enrolled in undergraduate programmes. He added that 1,125 inmates are engaged in ongoing educational studies, while 9,582 others are participating in vocational and skills acquisition programmes.

“As a government, we are committed to ensuring that no Nigerian, whether free or in custody, is left behind,” the minister said.

Tunji-Ojo stated that the government would move towards implementing the panel’s recommendations through monitoring and evaluation frameworks designed to strengthen correctional administration.

“Our goal is clear. Never again should our correctional centres be associated with dehumanisation, corruption, or discrimination,” he added.
