~I was blown away by the figures myself when i realised just how high market extensions have become!!

~Watched Jamelia's "Who's Hair It Is Anyway On BBC one" now,am very much aware of where some of the the extensions come from!!

* Of the head of Poor pre-teen/teenagers in Villages in Russia& some other countries . . . it is said Russian Women has the Finest Hair . . so the Younger the girl who hasnt experimented w/ her hair the better the Quality of the Extension!!

* In India its either the hair shaved off the women's head who are offering it to the Temple as they ask for favours & the temple in Turn sells the hair to provide food for the Hungry

OR

* They are picked off dustbins well it was shown been done in Indiangrin these hairs are off hair brushes & Combs & they become the processed cheap ones . . .
i didn't know that some of the hairs come from russia, i always thought that they came from korea and when i was younger, people used to joke and say that it (hair extension) were horse hair (don't know how true it is though).

For those of us that were born abroad, how do you think this effected you and your relationships with natives of that country, your country and your loved ones?
How did your enviornment affect your parents? Were they more protective? Busier?
How about your friends? Were you ever questioned of your family's "strange" behavior/food/clothing?
.

well growing up, i didn't think i was different because all my neighbors were either african american or african(mostly). in school (elementary), we were are either african, AA, of latino. when we moved to our new neighbor, there were more AA and latino and only one old white ex-police officer who never showed his face. it was only in middle school that i knew i was kind of different (refering to my nigerian heritage) because almost all of the kids were AA. there was like 13 dominicans in the whole school and they were all cousins and few whites. in high school, that's where i felt more comfortable bacause it was a very diverse school. almost of all my friends were foreigners or children to foreigners so will talked and compared our different cultures. so i basically felt pretty close to africa/nigeria.

with my parents, they fit in perfectly without losing their africaness (if u know what i mean). they were protective of me because they thought that every AA was out to get you. lol. that was back in the days but they're over it.

I know but that Lady from CNN Black in America try to blame it on school conditions. WTF!!
that's why i didn't care to much for it. especially when they did part 2 on the black man, the focus mainly on crime and violence and they said its supposed to be "non bias". yea whatever. maybe its just be and my "african" mentally as some would. some of my AA friends would talk about "the struggles about being black in america. when i tell them that i don't experience what they are talking about or its not that bad. they always say"you wouldn't understand, you're not american." last time i check, i was born and raise in america. then they'll say "well, you're not american american undecided". well i guess we can never "really" understand them (AA) and their struggles.

I understand that teachers is at fault sometimes but They are not the ones to blame.

Did you watch the part on Blacks In America where that black lady try to say that the reason that Inner City kids are not involved in school is because The Schools are horrible and they do not have many resources.

I have a few question 4 her,

1. Who Do you want to fix it? white man from the boards of education
2. My school last year was in pretty good shape but some AA Did not attend school. Who is that to blame?
i'm not putting all the blame on them. the school's condition doesn't even matter. you could still learn under the crapest enviroment.

I feel bad for the Blacks in China. They can not do anything about it.

@ naija diva

Its not the teachers fault. I graduated from a diverse high school last year. My AA friend Quan did not graduate. All that Girl did was smoke weed all they. She use to missed 3 weeks of school in a row. Who fault is it? Her's or the teacher?

Blacks in America have more opportunity then anyone in the world. Yet they do not take advantage of it. What more do you want the "White Men to do? He give You free education, Affirmative action, Laws to protect your rights and They sit down and do not take advantage of it. Then they wonder why many AA do not graduate. They have no excuse.
i completely agree with you. its not the teachers fault 100% but they do crap. doing nothing is just as bad.

I love Black People but some are just too damn stupid. How the hell can they live in America where education is free and still decide not to go to school. When they grow up they will amount to nothing and Blame it on the white men.
true but sometimes teachers would tell a stident that he or she is stupid and that they can't do anything with their life. still not an excuse but some people just need motivation. my high shool had to be the most unmotivated school. once our former principal(who was white) left, and replaced with a black principal, i felt like i was in prison. we couldn't do anything.

Black people are the largest race with HIV. Take a look at BETs Hell Date. They are all freaks. They make nasty shows like Flavor of Love and they show Him having sex with many women he do not even know. How is this helping the black society?
so true. i was watching cnn this week, and the said that the reason why black peole have the highest rate of HIV/AIDs (don't know how true this is) is because we have this gene that makes it easier for us to get HIV than other races.

CNN Blacks in America should be re-named African Americans in America. We Africans do not live like that. We try to better ourselves. We Do not sit around and smoke weed all they.
that's why i was kind of disappointed in the documentary. they should have specified which black group they wanted to talk about because we all didn't have he same struggle and history.

Uhm, why would a self-sufficient human being "have" to listen to "anyone including their husbands" What's wrong with a woman who can form and use her own thoughts and ideas? I understand acknowledging a mutual respect between partners, but why is it that women are always perceived as the wind beneath men's wings? Why not mention the lack of respect most men have for women? or is that "different"? And as for women who are "waiting for a divorce" , most of the women that ask for divorces have plainly had enough of that man's bullshit and know that they can make it on their own, if need be, it certainly is better than the mistreated wife who won't get a divorce because she is not sure how she will feed.
i'm not even talking about all of what you are mentioning. the main thing is respect from both person. women should respect their husband and vice versa. no one should be a slave to no one.

if i start disecting your post, it's gonna lead me into another subject so i just going to leave it at that.

"Stupid"? How so, if you don't mind my asking?
some women feel that just because they are educated and have a good job, they don't have to listen to anyone including their husband and sometimes they don't respect them. some of them act as if they are waiting for a divorce just so that they can "prove" that they are capable of doing things on their own.

I am talking about Black Africans in China.

Are You saying that the reason some blacks act violently is because of the black stereotype?
i'm not saying this as an excuse because its not. sometimes i see how people act rudely towards black people and of course black people being already an aggresive bunch are going to show you something. like the police for example. i live in a pretty much all black area but they have white police officers and "some" black serving our district and let me tell you, them officers don't play. you're walking down the street minding your business and all of a sudden they want to see an id, for what. i had to show my id a couple of time. when i go to the station, its worst. they stop those that they think"look" like criminals and ask for id. i ain't gonna lie, sometimes the black people give them attitude and then the next thing you know, they're calling for back up.

are we talking about blacks in general or just africans? well anyways, i wasn't aware of africans causing trouble in china. but sometimes i think that black people are provoked to act violently because where ever they go, people look at you like you have the word "bad" or "evil" posted on your forehead.

but i'll reply anyways:

i just think people these days are pathetic. sometimes i try to be fair with people who are not the same race/nationality like me but sometimes when i hear something like that, it makes me to not like some of them and their entire race (i know, i know, it's wrong.) i'm starting to think that black people are the only nice people in the world.
