Politics / Re: Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Promises – Fulfilled! by Naijagunner83: 1:42pm On Dec 17, 2013
I salute the success he has recorded in electricity sector so far.
We must understand that fixing the decay in that sector is not automatic. It will take time and money to put things together again. He started well by finishing the power projects that OBJ started and the privatisation programme is a nice one.
The new power companies may be facing difficulties at the moment but I have no doubt that things will improve.

Politics / Re: Jonathan Replies Obasanjo: Prove ‘hit-squad’ Allegation Or Remain A Coward by Naijagunner83: 2:51pm On Dec 16, 2013
In a saner country, OBJ would have been sued for this reckless statement but this is Nigeria where every thing is politicised and sensationalized. Even if GEJ decides to take that action, many will criticise him for being vindictive against the former President. I know Nigeria too well

Politics / Re: BREAKING: Jonathan Replies Obasanjo, Says Letter Self-serving, Provocative by Naijagunner83: 12:42am On Dec 12, 2013
Bukkyade: As far as I'm concerned, Obasanjo should not be mentioned in the same breadth with Jonathan.
President Jonathan is by far better than Olusegun Obasanjo. President Jonathan has performed far better than OBJ did in every department of governance and i don't need rocket science to prove this.

1. Power Reforms. Obasanjo stole Millions of dollars from Excess crude account in the guise of NIPP Power plants. None was completed till Jonathan came to office. In less than 3 years, GEJ has completed and commissioned over 5 power stations.

2. Agriculture. Throughout Obasanjo's stay as president, faint regard was given to Agric reforms. He was just busy appointing Northerners to siphon Agric budgets without no policy directive. You can't say the same of Jonathan's govt. the Agric Minister Adeshina is really pursuing reforms to the extent that he was awarded Times Man of the year for Africa.

3. Transportation. OBJ grounded our railway system totally before he left. But GEJ is the one now reviving those moribund rails and laying new tracks. Lagos-Kano is now running.

4. Education. OBJ funded education below 300B throughout his tenure. GEJ has jerked funding in Education budgets from OBJ's meagre 300b to over 450B. In addition, he is committing additional 200B to ASUU which OBJ never did. GEJ has built 12 new universities and over 185 Almajiri schools in the North.

5. Works. Every major road in Nigeria is receiving attention under Jonathan because of the poor state in which OBJ left them. We all know how Ore-Benin road used to be under Obj. but GEJ is now doing it. Roads like East-West road were awarded by Obj and abandoned but GEJ has taken over to fund it to a great level. The same goes for ABJ-Lokoja, Kano-Maidugri Dualisation and Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
GEJ is the one now working on all of these roads.

6. Aviation. The state of our Airports under OBJ was a hideous eyesore. OBJ raised 100 Billion intervention fund without no single turn around of any Airport. Today the story has changed, We have now witnessed the remodelling of 22 Airports including the building of a new General Aviation Terminal in Lagos. Enugu Airport now hosts international flights etc

You are seriously on point. Kudos
Politics / Re: Federal Government Approves N42bn For Roads Rehabilitation And Construction by Naijagunner83: 11:18am On Nov 28, 2013
Nnewi1stSon: Yet those ungrateful monkies and their cousins in the west, still claim jonathan is only working on 'Eastern interests' only. Bunch of never do wells! angry

Don't mind them. They are just a bunch of noisemakers. What Jonathan has been able to do for South West in the past 2 years are unparalleled by any other President of Nigeria, even their own son-OBJ.
OBJ ruled for 8 years and was playing with Lagos-Ibadan expressway, GEJ is the one that has drafted Julius Berger to site to start the reconstruction of that road. Take a look at the Ibadan-Ilorin road that was abandoned halfway by OBJ. Jonathan took over and the road is nearing completion in less than 2 years.
We all remember how bad Benin-Ore-Sagamu road used to be under Obj/Yaradua. But today, that road is now motorable to some extent. Phase one of that highway from Benin-Ore is now completed under GEJ. Even Apapa-Oshodi expressway is receiving attention by thus govt.

They just hate Jonathan for nothing sake. Very lousy people.

Amaechi is economical with the truth. Ngozi Iweala has her records and spoke through them. She can't just make wild statements like that. We are talking about monetary disbursements here. The records are there for anybody who wants to verify. Of course, the money was not released in cash or Ghana must go. It passed through verifiable accounts. We are talking of billions here.

Trust Amaechi. If the woman was lying against him, he would have come out publicly since Tuesday to debunk the press's statement.
Since then, Amaechi has kept mum because he knows it's very true. He shared from the account

ballabriggs: Every sane mind knows this. To continue with a mediocre, lazy, clueless, docile, unpatriotic, criminal, corrupt, divisive e.t.c leader like Jona will be evil on Nigeria.

Say no to President Jonadunce today.

Every sane mind knows that it will be the hieght of foolishness to kick out a performing president who is pioneering transformation in key sectors of our national life.
Every sane mind will lend support to President Goodluck Jonathan's ongoing reforms in power sector and the landmark privatisation of PHCN.
Every sane mind will be happy at the prospects of new PIB and will vote GEJ in 2015 to revolutionize our oil and gas industry with the passage of PIB.
Every sane mind will be excited to see the continuation of the Agricultural transformation Agenda beyond 2015.
Every sane mind will acknowledge the rehabilitation of our railways and the continuation of such efforts to link up Nigeria by rails beyond 2015.
Every sane Mind will be happy with the aggressive construction of our roads by works Minister Onolemenen, and will like to see the steady construction and completion of ongoing road projects like Lagos-Ibadan, East-West, Benin-Ore, Kano-Maidugri Dualisation.

Every sane mind will like to see GEJ as President beyond 2015

Politics / Re: The National Good Governance Tour Citizens Forum In Kogi State. Live Programme by Naijagunner83: 11:58am On Nov 09, 2013
This programme is commendable. Democracy must create a platform for the people to engage their leaders on issues of governance. We must ask questions. We must hold our leaders accountable for their stewardship in governance. I love Labaran Maku for moving away from the usual govt sloganeering of the past to a more practical way of disseminating information.

Town hall meetings are necessary.
Politics / Re: Jonathan, ASUU Find Ways Of Resolving Four Month Old Strike by Naijagunner83: 7:01pm On Nov 04, 2013
President jonathan has finally become the first President to get into a round table discussion with ASUU.
We have a president who is seriously committed to resolving the lingering crisis in the education sector. I also understand that they have beefed up the amount to 200B. ASUU should just be considerate and call of this strike.
Politics / Re: Labaran Maku And The "Akudaaya"s (ghosts) by Naijagunner83: 2:17am On Oct 28, 2013
If the Minister of Information said that they saved over 118B from exercising ghost workers in the system, then it is true.
Before the Minister came out with that statement and the figures, it must have been verified.
There is no way the FG will claim to have saved upto 118B If it didn't happen.
Let's not forget that there is a National Assembly that oversees the executive and it's finances. NASS would definitely ask for the saved 118b and there's no way the Minister of Finance would say it was all a joke.
Politics / Re: APC: We’ll Not Attend Jonathan’s National Conference by Naijagunner83: 2:13am On Oct 25, 2013
diva_tosin: According to Oga Lia Mohammed "Besides, he said the Federal Government lacked credibility to organise such a conference. Mohammed said, “What we see today is that this government has lost focus; it has lost credibility, it has lost
control of the economy.
Insecurity and corruption have attained an uncontrollable proportion and at this point in time, this government lack the credibility to organise a meaningful national conference.
"

This guy is just a class clown. If the govt can not be trusted to organize a national conference, then why expect him to conduct elections in 2015. APC should come out clean and tell us why they don't want well meaning Nigerians to discuss the future of this country.

Education / Re: ‘quit Playing Politics And Go Back To Class’, Maku Tells ASUU by Naijagunner83: 6:33pm On Oct 23, 2013
Arobam:

In fairness to Gej, he has really tried to dialogue with ASUU but the lecturers appear stubborn and desperate to paint the FG as insensitive to the plight of Nigerian students and the educational sector. The strike is being sustained in bad faith.

No other administration has funded the Educational sector more than Jonathan has done in the past 2 years.
First, Jonathan increased education funding to all time high of 450 billion from less than 300 billion it used to be before 2011.
Secondly, Jonathan specialized TETFUNDS with increased budgetary allocation.
Since the strike began, Jonathan has given additional 130 billion to ASUU. No other administration has coughed out this much for ASUU.
It's unparalleled. ASUU should be considerate and call of this strike in the interest of the very students whom they are fighting for.
The funding deficit of education is an age long problem that cannot be solved in one fell swoop.
Let reason prevail.

I concur. The way they talk you would think Jonathan has not given them a kobo. ASUU is being sponsored for this. They know it.
Politics / Re: Survey About Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by Naijagunner83: 3:25am On Oct 20, 2013
musiwa28: he did not complete an nipp. they were award before jonathan.. they were even paid for.. but his govt inflated the contract.
.

Guy, are you for real? Why would you like to distort clear historical facts? Which NIPP was completed before Goodluck Jonathan?
As at today, so many of the NIPP plants are still undergoing completion under this administration.
Some few weeks ago, Jonathan finished and commissioned GEREGU. today, he went to Ondo state and commissioned Omotosho power plant.
Why do you seek to lie against the president in the face of such overwhelming evidence of the work he is doing in those plants?
It's very unfair. Please be objective..

black face: An education tax of 2% of assessable profits is imposed on all companies incorporated in Nigeria. This tax is viewed as a social obligation placed on all companies in ensuring that they contribute their own quota in developing educational facilities in the country.
The ETF account should be audited because going by the billions companies makes in this country, our education institutions should never lack funds.
i'm guessing our clueless president does not know that an account like that exist.

Who is this whiz kid? Look at how you just assembled your ignorance and chose Nairaland as a platform to advertise it.
Are you for real? So in your empty skull, you don't know that ETF has been specialized as TETFUNDS since 2011?

When I saw this topic, i was shocked and rushed to see the newspaper that is so d.umb to generate this ignorant story. I felt a bit relieved that it was not a newspaper publication but the figment of imaginations of an ignorant fellow.

In your desperation to label GEJ as clueless, you have exposed how ignorant and dumb you are actually.
Next time, learn to ask questions and make proper verification of your facts before posting topics.
Thank you.

Politics / Re: Jonathan's Administration: What Went Wrong? by Naijagunner83: 10:19am On Oct 11, 2013
Arobam: Jonathan is a reformer in the making. Our own version of Margret Thatcher. He has been intiating serious reforms that are bound to cause disaffection amongst a people conversant with spoon feeding and socialist spices like Subsidies.

Thatcher broke the conservative UK Policies in 1986 by privatizing the power sector and today the country is better off with it. That is exactly what jonathan is doing in Nigeria's power sector.

I agree with you. President Jonathan is doing the right thing in power. While in the UK, I had a stint with npower which is an electricity distribution company in UK. It was an eye opener to the propects of a private sector led power sector.

The privatization of distribution companies of PHCN will be the best thing to happen to our power sector. Apart from efficiency, there will be competition and so many jobs will be created in the process.

Politics / Re: Women Arise: Odumakin Slashes Lai Mohammed ( Quit Your Hypocrisy ) by Naijagunner83: 6:58pm On Oct 17, 2012
It is not today that Lai Mohammed has continued to apply different set of rules for different parties. He is such a hypocrite.
If it were another party that had this absurd arrangement where a single man will be dictating what happens in the party, Mr Lai Mohammed would have been at the roof tops shouting about dictatorship in a democratic era. But here we are, Tinubu keeps running ACN like an empire while Lai Mohammed has turned the other way.

If it were another party that did not conduct internal primaries and imposed the godfathers's wife, nephews, in laws and all as NASS flagbearers, the ACN parrot, Lai Mohammed will be everywhere crying foul and demonising the party.

Lai Mohammed has been the party's spokesman since the formation of ACN. I beg to ask, is there no room for conventions and change of leadership in a party that prides itself as the bastion of democracy? Since 2005, nothing has changed. Lai Mohammed keeps lying for ACN. He has survived over 5 PDP spokespersons. Haba!

Funny enough, Lai Mohammed has the face to criticise and poke nose into PDP conventions. He doesn't care whether he has replicated the same democratic principles in his own party.
In his usual desperation to lie against anybody who stands against his benefactor-Tinubu, he has crossed the path of Pdumakin. Let's see how it goes. Hypocrite!
