The G7 and the G5 are not after Bamanga Tukur. Their target is to remove Jonathan by firing the Chairman first. They see him as the only obstacle. All the PDP Governors know this. Tukur will continue to enjoy their support provided he doesn’t dip his hands to alter PDP Structures in the State. If he does that, they will pure him with raw acid. I congratulate PDP for resolving this particular issue. |
ABUJA-NATIONAL Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur yesterday survived planned moves to remove him as governors elected on the platform of the party have passed a vote of confidence on him. The decision was taken at the end of the meeting of the governors held on Thursday at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja. Though Journalists were not allowed into the venue of the meeting, but Vanguard gathered that at the end of the meeting which ended at 8.45 pm, the governors decided to pass the vote of confidence and end the bickering which has scattered the party that led to the defection of five governors to All Progressives Congress, APC against the backdrop that was enmeshed in crises and the APC waxing stronger. A source at the meeting told vanguard that Tukur had a smooth ride following the failure of North East to produce a replacement for Tukur as it was agreed penultimate week by the governors that the zone should shop for Tukur’s replacement. The Governors immediately after the meeting rushed to Presidential villa apparently to brief the leader of the party, President Goodluck Jonathan on the outcome of the meeting. Present at the meeting were Bamanga Tukur, Governors of Akwa Ibom State, Delta; Enugu; Bayelsa; Benue; Cross River; Kaduna; Deputy governor of Niger and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim Pius. Moved by the defection of 37 lawmakers of the PDP extraction in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, PDP national Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, members of the National Working Committee, NWC, governors of the PDP were yesterday night in a marathon meeting with Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, Leader of the House, Mulikat Akande and other members of PDP caucus in the lower chamber. Roll of those who attended the meeting apart from the governors include secretary to government of the federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, dep speaker Emeka Ihidioha, House leader Mulikat Akande and other reps. The meeting with members of House of Representatives started after Tukur had met the PDP govs and commenced at 9.15pm and was still in progress as at the time of this report. Addressing the gathering before it went into closed door, house leader, Akande said the PDP caucus meeting was called to enhance synergy between the House and the leadership of the party. slugggers: And she is going to be the first Nigerian President getting paid in foreign exchange ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$).Make u dey hail. She is using World standard. America and Europe don't play with debt servicing. It is in Nigeria that people borrow without plan to pay back. To even pay salary is problem, fight. |
While watching ChannelsTV 10pm news yesterday and seeing this lady - Ngozi Okonjo Iweala present the 2014 National Budget to the 'NASS', I said to those around me, 'See Nigeria's next president of Igbo extraction!'. I don't care who you are or where you come from, Ngozi is well capable. And to think that she has maturedly waded through the murky waters of Nigerian politics and raised her head high above all the unwarranted insults and ethnic attacks of all sorts, she scores extremely high in my book. Never for once has she retorted in the same venom and bitterness rather she calmly and calculatedly goes about her impressive wrk of seeing the general economic devt of the nation and she only replies when absolutely necessary -as she did the mumu 'Rep' on TV last night who was definitely high on some cheap substance. So I say once again, Nigeria here is your next president - of Igbo etxraction - after GEJ. |
ABUJA—The Federal Government yesterday presented a budget proposal of N4.6 trillion for the 2014 fiscal year to the National Assembly. The proposed budget christened ‘Budget for Job Creation and Growth’ represents N100 billion reduction from the N4.7 trillion that was budgeted for this year. Capital expenditure is projected at N1.1 trillion representing 27.29 per cent, down from 31.9 per cent in the current year. The reduction in capital expenditure was attributed to increased allocation to pension and high wage bill. The N4.6 trillion expenditure is to be financed from budgeted revenue of N3.37 billion, while the balance will come from N571 billion debt. The budget is based on oil price of $77.5 per barrel and crude oil production of 2.38 million barrels per day(bpd) with an average exchange rate of N160 per dollar. The budget was presented by the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who represented President Jonathan. Though she did not give details of the budget and the amount for the recurrent expenditure, highlights of the proposed budget were however later released by the Ministry of Finance. Speaking to Journalists after presenting the budget, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala said that the aggregate expenditure of N4.6 trillion excludes the Subsidy Reinvestment Expenditure Programme, SURE-P. She said, “I felt very privileged, it’s an honour that Mr. President has asked me to carry out this task in conjunction with my colleagues in the cabinet, and of course, the Director General of the Budget Office supported me to do this great honour. “This budget is the Budget for Job Creation and Inclusive Growth, meaning that it’s a budget which will continue the President’s transformation agenda for several sectors of the economy. The budget is going to support the push in agriculture. “It will kick-start the housing sector where we can create more jobs, it is designed for our policies that would support manufacturing because jobs would be created there. Industries will also be created in solid minerals sector. All these support will continue to be unleashed. Job creation is the key to really solving the problems of the Nigerian economy. “Aggregate expenditure excluding SURE – P funds is about N4.6 trillion and the revenue is about N3.73 trillion. The capital is about N1.1 trillion and makes up about 27 percent of the budget, the balance of course is the recurrent, and it is about 72 percent of the budget.” The Minister explained that the distinguishing feature between the 2013 budget and that of the 2014 budget was the focus the government had in continuation of the 2013 budget especially on the area of job creation for the youths and promised that the government was not going to relent in pushing forward. She said, “All the programmes that create jobs are very well supported, the SURE -P is also part of it, community services programmes would be pushed, the You-Win programme would be pushed.” The Minister further said that the government would pursue vigorously infrastructural development. “The infrastructure development is part of it, the Hon Minister of Transport is here, we have been working on rail development. Ministry of Niger Delta is also part of the infrastructure development, Water resources, FCT development and so on. “We have privatised power but we will be working on the transmission to direct resources there. The distinguishing thing is that it’s a continuation of what we have done before but with more emphasis on really pushing out jobs and also supporting safety nets that can further redistribute income to poor people in the country.” HIGHLIGHTS: Baseline Assumptions Baseline Assumptions *Benchmark Oil Price: $77.5pb *Budgeted Oil Production: 2.3883mbpd *Average Exchange Rate: N160/$, same as in 2013 *Real GDP Growth Rate: 6.75% Revenue Projections *Gross Federally Collectible Revenue: N10.88 trillion *Gross Federally Collectible Oil & Gas Revenue: N7.16 trillion *Total deductions, including cost of crude oil production, subsidy payments, and domestic gas development is N2.15 trillion, same as in 2013. *Subsidy payments were maintained at the 2013 level of N971.1 billion. *Gross Federally Collectible Non-Oil Revenue: N3.29 trillion *FGN Budget Revenue: N3.73 trillion Expenditure Projections *Aggregate Expenditure (Net of SURE-P): N4.642 trillion *Aggregate Expenditure (Inclusive of SURE-P): N4.910 trillion *Statutory Transfers: N399.7 billion *INEC’s expenditure is to increase from the N32 billion provisioned in 2013 to N45 billion. soe: ABEGGI...Seun is entitled to his own opinion...he is just an individual...as far as I am concerned...anyone who wishes for this country to grow will know by now, that 100 GEJ can not be comparable to one regime of BUHARI. Don't be deceived by the mass exodus of allegedly "corrupt" politicians into APC, if BUHARI gets into power, He knows how well to stay Focused. BUHARI only spent 2 years in power...But the WORLD felt his presence...He vowed to free Nigeria from the IMF grip of debt profile, by vowing to pay all foreign debts solely with Cocoa, Groundnut, Rubber and other raw materials..he said we cannot buy your USD just to pay you, it will kill our economy...so they arranged to booth him out. Buhari would have silenced CORRUPTION totally if given more time...he started from the grassroot, reclaiming our orientation, you had to be on queue if you must be attended to...zero tolerance to VIP treatment or "connections". Also, he ensured all Nigerians stayed faithful and loyal by making it a point of order that we learn the National Anthem and live by it...if that had been, ethnicity would have been all gone. Contrary to what the media lie about, Buhari, although a muslim, had more christians in his ministerial cabinet than muslims. Even his driver and cook were not muslims. Buhari remains today, the only Former President who can never be accused of CORRUPTION till date...the case of his ADC who allowed a suitcase of money into the country has been long dismissed as it has been proven that the briefcase belonged to the family of an Emir who was returning from overseas with all his family members to take over rulership. Why will a president use the general airport if he wishes to smuggle money, when he has series of Presidential Jets and Helicopters that could do it secretly. Finally my dear reader, the only reason you never voted for BUHARI (if you never did) was because his campaign never really got to you, you maybe never really heard all this info about the man, you were told lies upon lies by those that control the media. But today the tide is changing, if we must move on, we need someone who has no GODFATHER..and who is unshaken in the desire to rid nigeria of the vices. If the campaign never got to you, it was due to very low cash at his disposal, which is common to leaders who never stole money from the treasury. So now is the time to gather as much money from people..for a solid and thorough campaign, hence the need for APC.Oga sir thank you very much but you didn't tell us why he did not campaign at the eastern part of the country? dosen't that tells you that he is a tribalistic? although i will love to see him back in power but after 2015 election ![]() |
In a nation that is so fickle,... full of people consumed by instant gratification,... full of fair weather friends...., full of hypocrites and backstabbers, Then Goodluck Jonathan's righteous stance and his ability to show consistent loyalty FOCUS and stand by his friends and associates hmmmmm must seem very very strange. |
Toktee: Hey chairman,Jonathan saw those problems, promised to tackled them before he was voted to power,if he finally discovered nw that he cannt be able to solve them,he should resign period!@Toktee Sir, from 1976 to 2007 the country was going dawn the drain. But now with all the effort from your masters to discredit this adminitration there are already a considerable development. The administration is fighting with enemies who swear to make the coountry ungovernable, which some of the elements are within the government pretending to be working with them. I remebered, some people said they will make the country ungovernable, that is what we are seeing today. My prayer is that we don't go back to 1976 to 2007 era. |
The executive of Igbo-speaking community in Lagos State has sacked some Ezes over a recent controversial visit to a governor, who allegedly gave them staff of offices. A statement in Lagos by the community’s President-General, Chief Ebere Ubani, described the visit as demeaning. It said: “With this singular action, the affected Ezes have abdicated their Ezeship and the Igbo-speaking community the authentic and legal body that installed them, hereby declares their stools vacant with immediate effect. “The Igbo-speaking community in Lagos State shall look into issues dispassionately and will not relent in wielding the big stick where necessary; as such Ezes have lost moral authority to preside over their respective domains in Lagos State, as their allegiance has now shifted.” Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/12/igbo-lagos-sack-traditional-rulers/

king of pool: wat do dis piple want nd wat ll dey benefit if dey finally gat gej not to run?Great opinion @king of pool. However, how can we get the best from federal government if power hungry citizens keep distracting the leadership? Please honestly review GEJ's performance and score him accordingly. Take into consideration the volume of national problems he inherited and the realistic time frame for their total elimination. Some of his achievements like freedom of expression, which most people have been abusing, are not quantifiable. For every mark, please add at least 25% DISTRACTION BONUS to arrive at a fair score! From what we know, all the crisis are caused by those who see their region as superior to others even when the region's economic resources can barely pay salaries of their civil servants! |
The Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, is set to clash with the leadership of his party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following the party’s request, yesterday, that he declare the seats of all 37 House members that defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress, APC, vacant. Meanwhile, the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who is fighting moves by the party’s governors and some stakeholders to shove him aside fought back yesterday, saying his antagonists were inspired by their determination to stop the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan, a plan he said, was bound to fail. His assertion nonetheless, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State in a terse statement, yesterday, called on President Jonathan to intervene in PDP affairs before the party is destroyed by what he described as an inept leadership under Tukur. PDP’s statement PDP, in a statement, said the claim of the defectors that they had obtained a court injunction stopping the Speaker and Senate President from declaring their seats vacant was false. The statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said: “We have, after a careful review, discovered that this claim is false. For the avoidance of doubt, the order of the court clearly says that status quo be maintained, which means the affected members shall remain members of the PDP. “The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Section 68 (i) (g) clearly spells out the consequences of cross carpeting when there is no division in any party. “We wish to re-emphasise here that the courts have pronounced, and INEC has concurred that there are no factions in PDP. “Since the affected members have renounced their membership of PDP, we call on the Presiding Officer in the House of Representatives to declare the 37 seats vacant without any further delay. “This action shall be in adherence to our grand norm, which is the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).” Speaker’s situation There were, however, indications yesterday that Speaker would ignore the call, putting him on a collision course with the party leadership. A source close to the Speaker told Vanguard yesterday: “There is no way that the Speaker can act on the call or are you not aware of the court injunction obtained by the 57 members stopping the Speaker from declaring their seats vacant?” Told of the PDP’s argument that the court injunction required all parties to maintain the status quo, the source said “Yes. Maintain status quo depends on the interpretation of who it favours.” Besides, the movement of 10 of the 11 members of the House from Sokoto State, it was learnt, may have also tied the hands of the Speaker given his close relationship with the 10 members who are from his home state. With the defection, Tambuwal is the only member of the Sokoto State delegation to the House still on the PDP ticket. Jigawa gov’s appeal Meanwhile, Governor Sule Lamido of of Jigawa State called on President Jonathan to save the party. In a statement entitled Is it Too Late to Intervene, issued by the Jigawa State Director of Press, Alhaji Umar Kyari said: “I am short of words to express my pain. It is agonising to see the party built in every home, in every village, town and city all over Nigeria with lots of sweat and sacrifice being destroyed. “Is it too late for the leader of the party to intervene and save our party? Nigerian democracy must not be truncated.” Tukur Meanwhile, Tukur has said the PDP crises were due to blind ambitions to stop Jonathan from re-election in 2015. He said: “The crises we are witnessing in PDP are about 2015. The promoters are members who wanted to be President at all costs; they are those who wanted to be Vice President at all costs and those who wanted to seek re-election as governors.” He spoke, yesterday, when a delegation of PDP youths from 19 northern states led by Mr. Galadima Yahya, paid him a solidarity visit at his Wuse 2 residence in Abuja. Tukur said: “The electorate in the North will elect Jonathan. If you go to them, they will tell you ‘when those who are forming various parties were in power, what did they do for us?’” Source: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/12/pdp-tambuwal-declare-defecting-reps-seats-vacant/

Argentina won thrice in a role against Nigeria....so is now our turn to also win thrice a role, starting in Brazil 2014...I tell you folks, what happened to spain in 1998 will happen to Argentina in 2014...Nigeria will send them packing home.....Messi won't be able to save them. ...He will be like Ronaldo in France 1998 , looking like mumu in the field of play...NO MESSI, NO Argentina... So it was in US 94...No Maradona (after drug test against Nigeria), no Argentina and ever since, the highest they could reach in the world cup tournament was quarter final because Agentina team is always a one man show, and if that one man is removed, they are no where..... |
Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi has said that he expects tougher opposition from Iran and Bosnia than Argentina in the first round of Brazil 2014. He, however, said he is confident the Super Eagles will reach the knockout stage of the World Cup. In an interview with MTNFootball.com, the Chelsea midfielder said, “it is a good draw but not an easy one. All the teams at the World Cup have same dream and that is to win. We will take all the games as they come with all seriousness. We will go for victory in the opening game against Iran because the first game is always very important in such a competition. Then, we do so for the other games. I am sure we will progress from the group.” On the strength f the teams in the group, Mikel said “Argentina are favourites but Iran and Bosnia may be tougher. We will face all of them with the same seriousness and the zeal to win.” He said he was full of expectations ahead of the Brazil 2014 World Cup, having missed the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. “I missed the 2010 World Cup due to injury. I am looking forward to Brazil with great expectation. It will be a great and fruitful tournament for us and looking at our team right now, we are good enough to do well in Brazil.” He said he was ready to help the Eagles do well at the tournament, noting that “as a player, I want to do well and help my country do well.’
