Politics / Re: Nigerians, Others To Close Businesses In Zimbabwe By January 2014 by naijaspeak(m): 10:36am On Nov 24, 2013
Symphony007: These southern and eastern africans are a pathetic breed. They are so lazy and consider themselves victims of life and want to make a living on the sweat of another man. This has been happening in south africa fro a long time where farms owned by whites for generations. Farms which has been profitable and standard for hundreds of years are taken from their white owners and given to a black man. Then the farms closes down within months or a year. If zimbabwe thought their economy was a mess, this will makes it worthless. The country will soon start living on hardouts.
. I quite agree with your views, the zibabwean can not succeed by driving away foriegner struggling to make living in their country. Just look at south africa, the success of the republic of South Africa is due to the white population. The blacks who are presently in control of the government under President Jacob Zuma has failed to lift up the economy since the ANC party took power from F W De klerk. The white developed south africa to a european standard right from the days of apartheid which the black have not been able to achieve.

Politics / Iran Reaches New Deal With The West To Give Up Parts Of Its Nuclear Program by naijaspeak(m): 5:01am On Nov 24, 2013
Iran has reached a new deal with the west in switzerland to give up parts of its nuclear program ( uranium enrichment ) in exchange for the lifting of some western countries imposed sanctions that have crippled some sectors of its economy. This follows several hours of talk led by Catherine Ashton, Iranian Foreign Minister, US secretary of state, John Kerry,Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, UK foreign Minister, and that of china. I am of the view that this new deal will bring peace to the world as Iran will no longer be allowed to develop a nuclear bomb to threaten its neighbour such as isreal. Secondly, the lifting of sanctions imposed by the west will now open Iran to the outside world and then make Iran among the popular place to visit in the middle east. Iran is a richly endowed country but its hostility over the years with the west have made that country to be isolated as many travellers sees the iranians as trouble maker. Many iranian too have welcome their country new posture to dialogue with the west rather than engage in a face off stand with the west. I think international travellers should now be putting iran in their travel itinerary as the country under its new leadership wants to mend fence with the west.

What about the Delta Steel Company that is still down after many years of mala-administration.

Chief Emmanuel Aguavariawodo who recently won the delta central sentarial seats has promised to bring the attention of the federal government to the ailing Delta steel complex. He should live up to his promise.

Meanwhile, the federal government under the leadership of President Goodluck Jonathan should as a matter of urgency ensure that the steel start to work.

There are so many jobless graduate and school leaver roaming the streets of Warri, Effurun and the entire state including Nigeria as a nation.

Travel / Findings: Nigerian Passport Holder Find It Difficult To Enter Gambia by naijaspeak(m): 8:16am On Nov 10, 2013
During President Jonathan visit to the Gambia, it was revealed to the President by the Nigerian Community in the Gambia that Nigerian passport holder intending to enter the Gambia find it difficult to enter the Gambia with their Nigerian Passport as the Gambia immigration authority at the border often give Nigerian travelers tough time as against what the Ecowas free movement specified which permit free entry for all Nationals of the West African subregion.

Against this background, it is also on record that nearby Cape Verde ( Cabo Verde ) a very beautiful touristic country in west africa with a european standard of living do not permit Nigerian passport holder to enter the country be it for tourism or ordinary visit. Once you enter, cape verde international airport in Praia, Cape Verde, you are immediately turned back despite coming into the country with a good basic travel allowance.

Maybe, President Jonathan should also look into the case of Nigerian that are completely denied entery into Cape Verde. Cape Verde is actually a visa free west african country. But Nigerians are unwelcomed to the country. The Cape Verdean immigrations authority are complaining that whenever, a Nigerian enter their country they do not want to leave. But denying Nigerians entry into Cape Verde is against the Ecowas Treaty signed by all these country that guarantees free movement of persons and goods across their borders.

Nigeria is a nation that is indeed on trial before the world community as our experience lay credence to the fact that our international image has deteriorated more badly.
Business / Re: What Are The Benefits Of Power Sector Privatization To All Citizen Of Nigeria by naijaspeak(m): 6:06am On Nov 10, 2013
There is now regular electricity flow in my area of resident since the PHCN was sold to a new management. We have never had it so good all this years but for the government who recently ended the actions of a bunch of corrupt Nigerians who want to hold Nigeria to ransome. It is a new done for the Nigerian state. This changes will create new business/jobs. The former staff of the defunct PHCN was full of corrupt workers who just issue fititous bills and sell transformer which is suppose to be free. Their worker do not work but they just idle away upon all this the federal government decided in its magnanimity to pay all the staff their severance/pension/pay off benefit. Most of these worker who were drop did not work for the money they got from the federal government but the government decided to settle them as a way to fuifil their own contract.
Travel / Re: Osun Airport ’ll Have Longest Runway In Nigeria’ by naijaspeak(m): 4:14am On Nov 06, 2013
Non-oil producing state like Osun state should not go for mega projects beyond it internally generated revenue. After the National Conference, if it goes out well as planned will result in true federalism with oil producing state controlling their resources and just paying taxes to the federal government. The Northern states, Eastern states, Western states, middle belt state should now look inward for revenue generation. The current act of waiting for the federal government to send them money from the federation account is breeding lazyiness among these impoverish states. We should now be seeing groundnut pyramid, oil palm farms, cocoa plantation, tin industry, coal industry, etc. These non oil producing states are still nursing ambition to have more states created from their domain even though they can not survive without federal allocation. Take for example, a poor state like Kano state has 42 local government with all the LGA being funded by the federal government from the federation account.

Worry 359, Thanks for your contribution it is an interesting opinion. Hope others will share their views. As at the time of my typing this piece, the india spaceshuttle have lifted off successfully and it is on its way to planet mars. An indian who was interviewed on the BBC said the space mission will give india as a nation the technological know how to manage its abject poverty that is facing most indian. Many indian today are busy doing menial job in UAE ( Dubai ) Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and some other countries when they should be gainfully engaged in india if their economy had been well developed by the government. But their government are now venturing into space!

Meanwhile, I am seeing a rivalry between India and China in the space race. Just like what we saw between the United states and the former soviet union ( now russia ) during the cold war and apollo space mission and russian sputnik

Space mission is very capital intensive, it is multi million dollars project and any nation that strive to venture into it must be prepare for a real work. But the india government do not seems to bother, they believe despite the mass poverty plaguing most indian they can come out strong technological like countries such as China. And then use such knowledge to change their society from poverty to plenty.

Travel / India Begins Space Mission To Mars. Do You Think It Is Worth The Effort? by naijaspeak(m): 5:52am On Nov 05, 2013
India is getting prepared to launch a spacecraft to planet Mars from Chennai. Do you think it is worth the effort given the fact that india as a nation is faced with poverty and suffering among a greater size of its population. Agreed they have great scientist/engineer/doctor who are contributing to global develpment both in India and abroad but their economy have not grown to the level of USA, Russia and China. I am of the view that they are feeling uncomfortable with the success achieved by the chinese in space exploration. But they must realise that China have been able to get their economy up than india. It is on record that it is the American ( USA ) that is the only country that have been able to get into mars and explore it. No nation have achieve that after the american. But why India, a struggling asia economy that is facing poverty among its citizenry? Why don't india collborate with the Brazillian, another poor country that is at the same level with them?

I do not live in Iceland. I live in Nigeria. I have information from some other western countries which also applies to Iceland. As for working to earn money you are limited by their law to some few hours per week this is to enable student concentrate on the study very well. But in some countries, you can work full time when the school is on holiday. But some student have abuse this priviledge leading to the rules being changed by the host countries or school.

If you are checking for Nigerians studying in Iceland, you can also extend your search to schools in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark as these countries have similar or near similar culture.

Since you claim that the University of Iceland has offered you an admission you can still get the information from the University international office or their official website. Infact, cost of living and work opportunities details are often enclosed in the admission package that could have been mailed to you when they offer you admission in the first place. Have you also confirm if the medicine course will be delivered in English Language as against Icelandic. Are you going for first degree or masters? What about the tuition fees or do they offer free tuition? As for work you can only work part time just like student in UK or USA school. I think if you do not have sufficent fund to meet your international studies as against working to earn money as you will study under pressure and it will result in so much stress. Medicine is not business admistration it require special preparation. But of a truth you are the person that can regulate your standard of living based on your taste, preference, character and general lifestyle. You can afford to go shopping in top brands supermarket in Reykjavik or reduce you taste minimally and live in a cheap accomodation. The taste lies with you and your pocket. Best of Luck

Politics / Re: Lagos Deputy-Governor To Iyanya's Dancer - You Are Degrading Womanhood by naijaspeak(m): 12:35am On Oct 17, 2013
I think the blame should go to Iyanya himself because the dancer was just dancing semi-nude to fulfil the contract that was signed. Iyanya should have been the person that should have instructed the dancer beforehand to dress decently. But he allowed stardom apparently to overwhelm him. Thanks, to the Lagos state deputy governor, who took time to correct the out-of-control dancer. But I know the deputy governor is indirectly passing a strong message to Iyanya. At least Iyanya should have known the type of ceremony and then organise the dancer to come out nicely dressed.

Travel / Re: Traveling To Turkey With E-visa by naijaspeak(m): 8:25pm On Oct 09, 2013
Fischer77, Congratulation first of all for securing a mexican Visa. For those who do not know why you acquired a mexican Visa in the first place, Mexico is an OECD country and like Chile one need it to get a visa to Turkey under the E-visa scheme being done by Turkey. Nigerian passport holder can not apply directly for the E-visa except by first of all getting a visa to mexico or getting a visa to chile. The only option for a Nigerian traveller who do not want to go through stress for an E-visa is to apply the normal way without the use of the internet as all the E-visa processing is done only through online and once your application is received it processed and sent through the computer without the need of the applicant physically present at the Turkish embassy., As for Turkey, this is not the best of time to go there as the current Turkish Prime Minister Mr Erdogan is facing a challenge to his government with constant street protest in places like Instanbul and Ankara. The Syrian refugee from the war in Syria is also having its effect on Turkey as hundreds of Syrian flee to its next door neighbour Turkey. Turkey is currently faced with internal crisis from the current street
protest and the syrian refugee crisis. It is obvious you want to use Turkey to enter the Schengen countries. But I do know western europe or schengen countries life is still tough due to the euro crisis ( bail out ) and some of these countries like Greece is just recovering. As for Turkey, you can find work as an English Teacher but the monthly pay is not high but good enough to pay your rent and feed yourself. Some employer might
want to pay you money to cover your flight cost and also help you arrange your visa to secure your residency. Before going to Turkey it is important you search for teaching opportunities online. For a foriegner it is not easy to secure a job abroad but you can start with a teaching job. But you must have a Bachelor degree or an International english teaching certicate such as Tefl or Tesol. You can take the Tefl or Tesol on the internet even though it is a little expensive as you have to pay in dollars. Without a Bachelor or first degree or Tefl or Tesol qualification you can not secure a teaching job.

Travel / Re: Kuwait Visa General Enquiries by naijaspeak(m): 5:30pm On Oct 09, 2013
For Kuwait visa, you have to apply through one of the 5 star hotel in Kuwait. Usually, this means booking at least a three night or a week stay in their 5 star hotel as they are the people that has the authority to arrange visa with the Kuwait Ministry of Interior ( Immigration authority ) Travel company and Tour Company can also assist you in processing your visa. It is just the same procedure with Qatar visa or Dubai visa.

Also Kuwait airways, their national carrier can also arrange visa for you if you book your flight through the airline. This is one of my preferred choice. But Kuwait airline does not operate in Nigeria. Which means you have to get to dubai first before finding your way to Kuwait.

Justwise, I quite agree with you that our political class ( politician ) here in Nigerian are our biggest set back as they do not want the country to develop as our pet-dollars are being looted by these shameless politician and their cronies.

Money meant for development are being diverted to private account both locally and internationally. The same politician re-cycle themselves in every government and pretending that they are the solution to our myriad of problems. They pass the baton to their children who continue with the same habits. We have a long way to go as this politician are not prepared to change from their corrupt tendency.

May God help us.
Travel / Why I Support The Decision Of The Gambia Govt To Pull Out Of The Commonwealth by naijaspeak(m): 2:43pm On Oct 05, 2013
Recently the government of the Gambia under Yayah Jahmeh informed the world of Gambia decision to pull out of the Commonwealth.

For whatever reason that informed the Gambia government to embark on this decison, I am in support of it. The reason being that the rich countries of the commonwealth are not helping the struggling countries to rise up.

Take for example, Countries like the United Kingdom ( Britain ) Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc possess a lot of resources to accommodate citizens from other member state like Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, South Africa and so on.

But these countries denied other Commonwealth national easy access to their countries by tighting up immigration. If you are a Nigerian, Ghanian, Gambians, you can not easily secure travelling visa to these rich commonwealth countries.

More recently the United Kingdom issued a 3,000 British Pound ( BPS ) on Nigerian travellers entering Britain including citizen from some few other countries. This is unfair to Nigerians and citizen from the not so developed countries.

It is against the culture of commonwealth and what the commonwealth is promoting.

The commonwealth is supposed to have a system whereby one citizen from one commonwealth can enter another commonwealth country visa free.

This bad policy have grown to a stage whereby commonwealth countries in the caribean such as Trinidad and Tobaga, are even tighting up their immigration to Nigerians citizen traveling there.

If you want to travel to Trinidad from Nigerian the Trindad High Commission will request that you deposit a security money which will be given to you upon your return to Nigeria from Trindad this does not promote the culture of the commonwealth. Take Canada, for example, it is one of the most liberal countries of the world as it welcome foreigners from all part of the world to come in to live and work. But Canada today is tighting up immigrations policies due to advice from Britain. British national goes out of there way to enjoy other countries, live there and get better job overseas but they do not want other citizen from developing countries to live in Britain freely as they often torment their visitor by constantly tampering and changing immigration policies every now and then. Nigerian will recall the huge number of their citizen that was deported from Britain within this past years. This is against the spirit of the commonwealth.

Against all this back ground, Gambia is right in pulling out the the commonwealth. What development has the commonwealth even brought to Nigeria in the first place.

If Nigeria aligned itself with China we will benefit more than with this so called commonwealth that is not bringing any good to our life but a symbol of British exploitative expansionism.

Travel / Re: How Do I Relocate To Saudi Arabia? by naijaspeak(m): 4:14am On Sep 28, 2013
Saudi Arabia is one of the strict Islamic country in the Middle east as the government exercise a tight immigration control on foreign wishing to enter the country. Despite all this there are still a large number of foreigners including Nigerians living and working there. Due to. Its vast wealth from oil and gas saudi arabia attracts foreign professioners who are seeking for were to earn decent money. But beyond all this oil riches Saudi Kingdom is a prison yard as your fundamental rights is trampled upon. You will have the big money if you are lucky to get a good job but you will not have the freedom to enjoy your money as the kingdom maintains supreme control over the way they would want to live. Western style way of life is restricted to the barest minimun. You still need and exit visa to leave the country just like that of qatar if you went to saudi on a work visa. If you are a christian there are no church to worship as the strict islamic policy which is maintained by the country forbids that. Nevertheless, saudi is a good place to work and earn big especially for doctor, nurses, pharmacies. To work in saudi Arabian you have to secure a job first , your employer will then send you the documents you need for your immigration formalities. I would suggest you search websites like www.bayt.com www.gulftalent.com www.naukrigulf.com for employment information. You should study arabic language as knowledge of this language will assist you in your job search. Another good option is to find a job in Dubai (( UAE ) or Qatar and use it as a starting point to launch your job dreams in the nearby Saudi arabia. I have one little secrets the Saudi, Qataris and Emiratis (Dubai national ) discriminate when it comes to preferences as they would rather want an American, British, canadian or Australian doctor, nurses etc although some africans, asians mostly indians, pakistanis, and philippinos have been contracted at diiferent point in time of which they have secured employment and residency. I would advise you use google to search for hospitals and then find out if there are job openings.

Travel / Re: Guyana Visa How Is It Obtain In Nigeria by naijaspeak(m): 3:04am On Sep 28, 2013
Guyana is the only English Speaking Country in South America. Although we still have Falkland Island a country down south of that continent that is also English speaking which is under British control. For Guyana it is a member of the Commonwealth just like Nigeria. Being an English speaking country it is a popular travel destination for Nigerian students wishing to study medicine, nursing, pharmacies, dentistry and other allied courses. Guyana is bordered by Venezuela (spanish speaking) to the left and Suriname (dutch speaking) to the right. Under Guyana you have Brazil ( portuguese speaking )Up above Guyana, you have Barbados, St Lucia, Grenada. Trinidad and Tobago ( these are group of caribean countries) This neighbouring countries makes Guyana a special place to visit as you can move to these countries bordering Guyana to learn portuguese, spanish, dutch, including French language in places like French Guiana. There is no Guyanese embassy in Nigeria so one of the alternatve is to apply through a country that has their embassy such as London ( UK ) South Africa, Brazil etc A second alternative is to travel to Guyana and be issued with a Visa at the airport the Guyanese immigration allows this so long as there are no Guyanese embassy in your country of origin but you must prove that you have sufficient fund for your stay in Guyana and also you have a return ticket to your home country or other country that you are allowed to exit. You will also show your accommodation or hotel details as per where you will be staying. There is no direct flight from Nigeria. You have to go through (transit) Europe ( UK, Germany, Holland, France ) or through North America ( Canada,USA, ) and Brazil. But I would advise Nigerian to take the Brazil transit route as you do not need a transit visa to fly through Brazil so long as you do not leave the Airport area ( transit zone ) but you must leave their airport and catch a flight from Sau Paulo within 8 hours or get deported. There can be ugly cases in which due to cancellation of flight you can not get your connecting flight and you are faced with the risk of a deportation from Brazil. There have been reported cases of Nigerian who have been deported by Brazilian immigration authority. But some Nigerians transiting through Brazilian airport who was so unlucky to catch a connecting flight through Brazil ' s Sau Paulo airport have claimed that their immigration officer can be bribed to keep a traveller beyond the 8 hours transit stay or time. I would rather suggest you get a Brazilian visa from Nigeria, tourist or transit visa before leaving Nigeria, travel to Brazil and then continue from there to Guyana.

Historically speaking, Kaduna state is no stranger to this theatre of impeachment. Back in the 2nd republic of 1979, during the President Shehu Shagari NPN controlled Federal government. Alhaji Balarabe Musa, Governor of Kaduna state under the PRP political party was impeached by the Kaduna state house of assembly. That was the good days of our democracy in which governor found incompetent could be kicked out. But this present era, our governor are like thin gods who can not be removed until their tenure elapse. But they possess so much power in their state by way of money and influence that they can send the speakers or deputy governor away. In the Kaduna impeachment, it is the governor that is creating this drama to put his men on board. In delta state, govermor emmanuel uduaghan removed a former speaker of the delta state house of assembly. This type of ugly drama have taken place in some states in Nigeria. No wonder political science student are taught the fact that absolute power corrupt absolutely.
